As Jenny held Heather's bouquet in her hands, she found herself unable to stop smiling, not even focusing at the actual ceremony taking place. She couldn't stop looking between her sister and Miranda, each so happy that they were positively glowing, and she only looked away when she felt Beth McGee nudge her discreetly. She leaned closer so that she could whisper in her ear, and fought the urge to laugh at her words.

"Your daughter is trying to get your attention."

Jenny glanced out at the crowd, smiling when she noticed Jillian was indeed waving to her and each time her father attempted to stop her, she pulled away from his hands. She laughed quietly, shaking her head, and as she watched the happy couple slip their wedding bands onto their respective hands, she smiled at Zelda, standing off to the side of the wedding arch, clutching her basket of flowers tightly in her hands. She hadn't grasped the fact that she was meant to throw them, but at least she'd not tripped or fallen walking up the aisle, for which her mother and godmother were profoundly grateful.

Jillian had stayed surprisingly quiet throughout the entire ceremony, her attention captivated by the glittering lights and fancy clothing, and as Gibbs held her on his lap, she pointed again to Jenny standing just to Heather's left side.

"Mommy pwetty," she informed him, smiling when he nodded.

"Yes, Mommy is very, very pretty. And you're going to grow up to look just like her. What do you think about that?"

"Mommy pwincess?" she asked, looking up at him curiously.

"No," he said seriously, "Mommy is the queen."

"Ohhh," her voice was filled with awe, her eyes wide.

As the ceremony came to a close, Jenny handed Heather the bouquet once more, and as she walked back up the aisle, she waved at her daughter, smiling at her excitement over being included. Jenny walked over to reclaim her seat next to Gibbs as Heather and Miranda walked up the aisle again, and Jillian clapped her hands excitedly as her mother gave her a kiss on the cheek.

"Mommy queen!"

Jenny frowned, unsure of what exactly this was Jillian-speak for, and and shook her head slowly.

"Clean what?"

"No! Mommy queen!" she repeated.

Looking to her husband for clarification, she was surprised to find him laughing as he shifted Jillian to the ground, allowing her to explore the backyard.

"Enlighten me, please."

"She's been so excited seeing you up there with Heather and she asked me if you were a princess. I told her no. You're the queen, not a princess."

Remembering the mocking insult he'd thrown at her nearly seven years ago made Jenny shake her head in amusement and as he leaned closer to kiss her, he brushed her hair behind her ear.

"Long live the queen," he whispered.

"Shut up, Jethro."

He laughed as she rolled her eyes, watching Zelda and Jillian playing a strange game of hide and seek where they were both clearly visible to the other, and as Jenny followed his gaze, she laughed quietly.

"I don't think they quite understand the "hiding" part."

He shook his head.

"Nope."

As the music began to play and Heather pulled Miranda to her for their first dance, Jenny was surprised to find Gibbs staring at them both with a pride so strong that it was as though he were watching their own daughter.

"What is it?" she asked.

He smiled, shaking his head.

"She's come so far. Hard to believe that was the same girl who was so rude to me in that hospital room five years ago. She's gotten sober, cleaned her life up, and now look at her. Our little Heather is a married woman now."

Jenny nodded, reaching for his hand as the song ended a minute later, and when he pulled her to her feet, she frowned.

"Dance with me, Jen."

She smiled.

"You only had to ask."

"Seems to be a common theme with you."

He held her in his arms, as close to him as he possibly could, and when he noticed Beth and McGee not ten feet away, he called his name to get his attention. As soon as McGee glanced in his direction, Gibbs nodded his head to the left, laughing when the younger man noticed what he'd seen. Zelda and Jillian were currently "dancing" together, each spinning the other so quickly that they both landed in the grass each time they released their hands, and Jenny laughed, laying her head on Gibbs' shoulder.

The next song was another slow number, and when Jillian tugged on Gibbs' jacket, he leaned down to be level with her, giving her a smile.

"What can I do for you, Princess Jillian?"

"Daddy dance?"

He nodded, straightening up and lifting her so that her feet rested on the top of his own, and as Jenny was led to the makeshift dance floor, she felt her eyes fill with tears.

"God, Ducky...look at them," she whispered.

He nodded, pulling her into his arms as they waltzed around the floor.

"You've been so good for him, my dear. And nothing can compare to the love that man has for Jillian."

"I can't...Ducky, can you believe that just five years ago we were so much worse off than we are now? I mean...I nearly died, came so close to self destructing that it wasn't even funny, and now..."

He kissed her cheek just as Elisabeth Murphy returned from the kitchen, snapping as many pictures as she could of the moment, and gave her a warm smile.

"You've both come so incredibly far. I am so very proud of you."

Jenny smiled, resting her chin on Ducky's shoulder as they danced across the yard, smiling at Jillian when they passed, and she laughed when the little girl called for her.

"Mommy, look! I dance with Daddy!"

Jenny nodded, looking at her happily.

"I know, I see you. You're such a big girl now."

Her eyes unexpectedly filled with tears, and Ducky frowned when he noticed them slipping down her face, his fingers tilting her chin up so that she was forced to look at him.

"What's wrong?"

"I just...it just hit me that...Matthew would be almost five now."

He nodded, kissing her cheek softly.

"Yes, he would. But he's still with you, and you can tell Jillian all about how much her brother would have loved her as she gets older."

Jenny nodded, running her hand under her eyes, and Ducky kissed her cheek again, giving her a smile.

"If anyone asks, I'll just tell them you were so deliriously happy that you couldn't keep from crying."

She gave him a grateful smile as they broke apart, and kissed his cheek gently.

"Well, you aren't entirely wrong. Seeing Jethro and Jillian dance together is enough to make anyone cry."

Truer words had never been spoken, in Ducky's opinion.

"Okay, Jillian, go give Mommy and Daddy goodnight kisses and then it's time for you to get in bed."

"But Lisabeth...no sleepy."

Elisabeth shook her head as she pulled Jillian's nightgown over her head, lifting her curling red hair from the collar.

"Too bad, so sad, little one. You know the rules, and you don't want to make Mommy or Daddy mad, do you?"

Jillian shook her head seriously, her eyes wide.

"Mommy scary."

Elisabeth nodded, gently pushing her in the direction of her bedroom door.

"That's right, your mommy can be scary. That's why all the bad people stay away from you."

"And Daddy shoot!"

Laughing, Elisabeth nudged her again, wondering how on earth a child of not even two could comprehend such a thing.

"That's right. Now go give kisses."

Jillian ran down the hall to her parent's room, giggling like mad when Aries jumped up on her legs, nearly making her topple over.

"Aries, get down!" Jenny said sharply, "Be easy."

He sat obediently at Jillian's feet while she petted him, and when she had decided she was finished, she ran to her mother, throwing her arms around her legs.

"Mommy! Night night!"

Jenny glanced at her watch and nodded. They'd allowed her to stay up a little later due to the wedding running a bit late, but now it was definitely time for her to go to bed, and she swept her up into her arms with a smile.

"You're absolutely right, Jilly Bean. Did Elisabeth send you in to give kisses?"

Jillian nodded.

"Daddy?"

"He's in the shower. Give him a minute."

She placed Jillian next to her on the bed, pulling her into her arms, and as Jenny ran her hand over the soft curls, she felt an almost overwhelming wave of love for the little girl crash over her. As soon as Gibbs entered the room, Jillian threw herself across the mattress at him, wrapping her arms around his neck as he sat down on the edge.

"Daddy!"

"She's been waiting for you. She wants to give kisses and then it's time for this little princess to go to bed."

"Mommyyyyyyy...no sleepy."

"Tough luck," Jenny said sternly, "You remember what Daddy told you. No fighting Mommy at bedtime."

Gibbs gave her a quick kiss, lifting her into his arms, and as Jillian leaned over to kiss Jenny again, she gave her a smile.

"Night night, Mommy. Love you."

"Love you too, Jillian. Good night."

Jenny gave Gibbs a tired smile when he returned to the bedroom twenty minutes later, closing the book she'd been reading quietly, and as he closed their door, she placed her glasses on the bedside table.

"How much trouble did she give you?"

He shook his head.

"Not much. Read to her for a bit, and before Snow White had even run into the forest, she was fast asleep. I think today was more tiresome for her than she wanted to admit."

Jenny nodded.

"Yeah, I could see that. She loves playing with Zelda, though. Did Elisabeth already leave?"

Gibbs smiled, kissing her gently.

"She was leaving as I left Jilly's room. She said to tell you that she'll bring back the shoes she borrowed from you in the morning."

Jenny smiled as he moved to lay beside her on the mattress, and as she moved closer, her head resting on his chest, he pressed his lips softly to her hair, breathing in the scent of her perfume.

"So, did you enjoy your baby sister's wedding, Director Shepard?"

She laughed, nodding as she raised up to look in his bright blue eyes.

"I did. Thank you for providing impeccable security, Agent Gibbs. The agency thanks you."

Gibbs pulled her down on top of him, his lips capturing hers in a deep kiss, and as his tongue tasted every corner of her mouth, Jenny fought against the moan she could feel building within her throat.

"Not interested in the agency's thanks. More interested in how the Director is going to thank me."

Jenny leaned over him, her hair brushing his chest as she trailed her lips over his skin, and smiled.

"Not to worry, Agent Gibbs. I'm certain that Director Shepard is going to thank you personally," she murmured against his skin.

"Are you now?" he asked, his voice hoarse.

She nodded.

"Mhmm...I'm positive."

Though he knew they had to stay quiet to avoid waking Jillian, Gibbs couldn't wait to see just what she had in mind...

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

Begrudgingly, Gibbs opened his eyes, not even sure what had woken him, and as he realised he was now looking at his daughter's face, he sighed, raising up to look at her, his eyes still slightly unfocused.

"Jillian, what are you doing?"

"Daddy, I scare."

He frowned, glancing at the clock, and when he saw that it was only just now nearing 3am, he ran his hands through slightly tangled hair.

"What scared you? There aren't any monsters under your bed. I checked."

And indeed he had. He'd made quite a show of pretending to look for various spooky monsters and creeps before he'd placed Jillian in her bed, so he could think of nothing else that would have frightened her.

"Nightscare," she told him, her voice trembling.

He blinked again, his eyes finally focusing, and he gave her a smile as he lifted her into the bed, sitting her on his lap. Jenny shifted slightly in her sleep, unconsciously moving away from the disturbance she felt, and he placed his daughter between them carefully.

"You get that from your mommy," he told her, "Mommy has nightmares, too. All the time."

"Mommy scare?"

He nodded.

"Sometimes. But they're just dreams, honey. They can't hurt you. I promise."

Jillian didn't look convinced, and it was only after Gibbs had promised her that she could stay in the bed with them that she showed any signs of calming down, her tears finally beginning to dry. She snuggled closer to Jenny, who wrapped her arm around her even in her sleep, making Gibbs smile, and as he kissed them both on the forehead, Jillian spoke again, her voice fading as she fell asleep again.

"Love you, Daddy."

"Love you too, Jilly Bean."

When Jenny opened her eyes in the early hours of the morning, less than three hours after Jillian had climbed into bed with them, she was surprised to find her daughter sleeping in her arms. Gibbs returned to the bedroom moments later, carrying two cups of coffee, and when he noticed the confused look on his wife's face, he laughed quietly, taking a long drink from his cup.

"She had a nightmare. She's definitely your daughter."

Jenny rolled her eyes good-naturedly, running her hair over Jillian's red curls, leaning down to kiss her head softly.

"And she refused to leave until you told her she could stay, didn't she? Face it, Jethro, the kid acts just like you sometimes."

He nodded, leaning over to kiss her gently, and as he prepared to pick Jillian up from their bed, he was surprised when Jenny stopped him, taking the cup of coffee he offered her.

"Let her stay. She's only little like this once. I'll get up in plenty of time for work."

As he looked at his wife and daughter in the bed together, Jillian spread across Jenny's legs as she carefully sipped her coffee, Gibbs thought that it would be worth showing up to work late just to keep looking at them for hours.
