Kyo is going to kill this kid.

Seijiro, a guy in their class that Kyo never even knew existed until today, is sitting next to Tohru, his hand resting on her wrist as they hunch over a notebook.

The class has just been given their last partner project of the year. Usually, they've been allowed to choose their own partners, but this time they've been "assigned partners that have similar academic strengths."

So somehow, Kyo's ended up with Gangster Girl, and Tohru is over there with Seijiro. Who has his hand on her arm. Like he doesn't know that she's taken. (But he does, Kyo's sure, because by now, everyone knows. Everyone.)

The only thing keeping him from jumping up from his chair and walking over there to smack that guy's hand off of his girlfriend is the fact that Tohru doesn't seem uncomfortable at all. She's not resisting his touch, so it's safe to assume that there's no obvious malicious intent behind it. And every once in a while, she glances up and meet's Kyo's gaze for a second, giving him a soft smile before being drawn back into her work. She's fine. She's fine.

Well, that and the fact that Arisa has been teasing the shit out of him since the project started 20 minutes ago.

"Kyon."

He tries to block her out.

"Kyon."

He groans and looks over at Uo. "What?"

"Would you stop staring and help me solve this problem? They're fine."

Kyo grits his teeth and leans forward, looking at the assignment. "You know how to do this problem," he insists. "There was one on the last test and you got 100, right?"

He looks back at his girlfriend out of the corner of his eye, trying to be discreet, but knowing that, in reality, he's anything but.

After a moment of silence, Uo asks, much too loudly for Kyo's taste, "What, you think he's gonna try to get with her?"

"Would you shut your damn mouth?!"

"Trust me, she's plenty satisfied just fucking you. You've got nothing to worry about. Now can you please help me with this fucking problem? I'm stuck."

"Oh my god," Kyo mutters under his breath. He takes her pencil and scribbles on their worksheet. "Four, the answer is four."

"Oh, huh. Guess it is."

"I hate you."

"Yeah, yeah."

They're both quiet until the teacher speaks up at the front of the room. Kyo shoots Shiraki-sensei a glower, still bitter and sulking a bit. If she notices, she doesn't say anything.

"School's almost out for the day, but this needs to be handed in on Monday, so I'm going to give you the last few minutes of class to make arrangements with your partner. You may go when you're done."

"Your place on Sunday?" Uo asks, already shoving things into her bag.

"Yeah, sure."

She flashes him a peace sign and heads out. Seijiro and Tohru somehow need the whole five minutes to figure out how to finish the assignment, so Kyo sits there and plays with a loose thread on his uniform shirt while he waits. When Tohru finally comes over to him, she's smiling so brightly that he can't help but return it, despite his sour mood.

"Hi," Tohru says, propping herself up on the edge of his desk. Kyo puts a hand on her thigh, mindfully watching Seijiro as he leaves the classroom.

"Hey, you. So what's the plan with that kid?"

"W-well, I actually need to talk to you about Seijiro." Kyo just watches her, waiting for her to continue. After a second, she sucks in a big breath and blurts out hurriedly, "We need to finish the project this weekend and he needs to come to our house but I don't think anyone really knows I live with you so that might be weird…"

"Breathe," Kyo tells her, picking up her hand and kissing the back of it. "Why can't he know we live together?"

Tohru just sighs, looking away. Her expression is pensive, her cheeks pink.

"Are you...embarrassed about that?" Kyo asks slowly. She jumps and turns back to him.

"No, no, of course not, Kyo-kun! I just...thought that if people start talking it might make you mad."

She has a point. A girl shacking up with her boyfriend while still in high school would make a good addition to the Kaibara High Rumor Mill. As a guy, he'd be congratulated, probably praised, even. But as a woman...Tohru would likely be seen as a slut. Even though they're graduating in a few weeks, he wouldn't be able to handle Tohru's reputation being slandered because of him. Again. She doesn't deserve that.

"Okay," he says, because he really doesn't know what else to say.

"So I think we need to coordinate. When is Uo-chan coming over?"

"Eh? Sunday."

"Then I should text Seijiro and tell him he can come by tomorrow, right?"

"I mean, I guess?"

Tohru clears her throat and squeezes at his hand so tightly that it almost hurts. "And that means...you'll have to stay in your room for a bit, just while he's there."

"What?"

"K-Kyo-kun, don't get mad at me, it's just…"

He sighs and closes his eyes for a minute. "Tohru, I'm not mad at you. Never. I'm just…" He opens his eyes again and shrugs, shaking his head.

"I just...think that's our only option. Unless I go to his house, but I'm not sure how you'd feel about that."

"Absolutely fucking not," Kyo spits immediately.

Tohru tilts her head and watches him. He's sure he looks like a mess, cheeks red, jaw clenched. He's tried so hard to keep his cool lately, and has actually done a decent job at it. So this is embarrassing

But he can't help it. No matter how hard he tries, he really can't.

And then, Tohru smiles a bit. Kyo shoots her a glare, though it's half-hearted.

"Kyo-kun," she murmurs. She stands and looks around to make sure the classroom is empty, then sits on his lap. She presses her forehead against his. "What's wrong?"

Kyo feels himself soften at her touch, and he leans forward a little more, giving her a sweet kiss. "Nothing," he insists.

Tohru reaches up and trails a fingertip across his lips. It makes his breath hitch, and he meets her eyes, truly meets them, for the first time since she's walked over here.

"It doesn't seem like nothing."

Is she...teasing him? She has to know what's going on. Tohru isn't stupid, not by a long shot.

As much as he wants to say that he's not this kind of boyfriend, the one who gets itchy whenever another guy so much as looks at his girl, it's clear that she sees right through him, so what's the point, really.

"I'm jealous, alright?" he admits through gritted teeth.

"I kind of thought so."

He groans and wraps his arms around her waist, pulling her into his chest so that she can't see his burning face. "Then why'd you make me say it?"

"Because I needed to be sure," she whispers, kissing his collarbone once. "Don't you trust me?" And she sounds so sad that Kyo immediately pulls back to look at her, despite his discomfort.

"Wha—of course I do! That's not it…"

"Then…?"

"I just...I don't trust him, that's all."

"I would never let anything happen."

"I know, I do, I just…" he trails off. It's completely irrational. He knows it is. And how do you explain something nonsensical? Simple, really—you can't.

"You're kind of cute when you're jealous," Tohru admits after a minute of silence. She giggles a bit at the pouty face he makes in response.

"Rude," he says, half-teasing. When she laughs a little harder, he adds, "Seriously, though. You're mine. I don't wanna share you." He nuzzles his pink face into the crook of her neck. She cards her fingers through his hair.

"I'm in love with you, Kyo-kun. I'm not going to let anyone seduce me over a math project." Her tone is still slightly amused, but honestly, he knows she's serious. She would never. He nods, his head still pressed against her.

"Just so you know, though, I'll kick his ass if he comes onto you."

"Kyo-kun."

He's not kidding.

"You'll tell me if he does, right?"

"Does what?"

"Comes onto you."

"Of course. But I'm sure it's not going to be like that. It's just a project."

"Please. He was all over you today."

Tohru doesn't say anything for a bit, just holds onto him. Just when he feels himself start to settle down, she says, "You really think he's interested in me?"

He hums, annoyance starting to bubble up in his chest again.

"It's weird to think that he might be. You're the only one who ever has been," she adds.

"Tohru. Tons of guys are interested in you."

"What? Like who?"

Momiji for starters, but it's not Kyo's place to say that, and it would just make things awkward for Tohru.

"If you don't know, you're not paying attention," he says instead.

She laughs airily. "Well, really, Kyo-kun, when was the last time I paid attention to anyone but you?"

He smiles and picks his head up. They've only been officially dating for a few months, but really, he hasn't paid attention to anyone else since he met her three years ago. He knows it's always been the same for her, even though neither of them noticed it at first. "Come on, dork. Let's go home."

She nods and stands up, smoothing out her skirt. He grabs both their bags from the floor.

"I love you," she reminds him.

"I love you, too."

And when she takes his hand and leads him out of the classroom, nothing else really matters anymore.

The next day, Kyo sits on the top step of the stairs. Conveniently, the staircase turns halfway up, so the landing isn't visible from the bottom floor. He feels weird spying, but he can't bring himself to go into his room and not know what's going on. When the bell rings, his ears perk up, and he hears Tohru make her way to the door.

"Hi, Seijiro-san!"

"Hi, Tohru. No need to be so polite," Seijiro laughs.

"O-oh, okay…" Tohru mumbles awkwardly, then shows him to the living room and quickly excuses herself to go make tea.

"So…" Seijiro starts. After an awkward pause, he continues, "Are you still dating that Sohma guy?"

Kyo huffs out a bitter, short laugh. That Sohma guy.

"Yes, Kyo Sohma."

"I see. How's that going?"

"It's great. So, um, about the project…"

After a few minutes of everything staying strictly business, Kyo shakes his head at himself and heads to his room. He feels so stupid. The kid seems nice. He's just here to help Tohru with the project. It's fine.

He engrosses himself in a manga for the next couple of hours, until he hears the front door shut. He sets the book down, but doesn't leave the room. He'll just seem desperate and over-protective if he does. Knowing her, she'll come talk to him in a bit.
And sure enough, a few minutes later, Tohru's knocking on his door.

"You don't need to knock, ya know," Kyo calls out. He leans back in his desk chair and stretches his arm out to turn the knob.

"I just never know what you're going to be doing in here," she giggles, coming in and shutting the door again behind her.

"What, think you're gonna catch me naked or something?" he asks, tone mischievous. "Not like that's something you haven't seen before."

He takes secret delight in the way her face, ears, and chest all turn lobster-red instantly, and the way she opens and closes her mouth a few times as she tries to figure out what to say before settling on an exasperated "Kyo-kun."

He chuckles and takes her hand, pulling her over. She stands between his legs, leaning her back against the desk. "Sorry, couldn't help myself," he murmurs, running a thumb over her hot cheek. "So how was it?"

Tohru hesitates for just a split second before saying, "Fine. We finished the project."

"I'm glad. Wanna compare answers with me and Uotani tomorrow?"

"O-oh, yes, that would be great!"

"Okay."

"U-uh, Kyo-kun...I have to tell you something, though."

Kyo feels himself tense up at that. "Yeah?"

"Seijiro, uh. Well, you were right. He uh...tried to kiss me."

After her last sentence, he was kind of expecting that answer, but it doesn't soften the blow at all. "What?"

"He at least had the decency to wait until we were done with the project," she says, laughing nervously. "But then he just leaned in…"

"And?" Kyo asks, prompting her to continue. He has to know it, all of it, even if it hurts. Even if the guy actually managed to get ahold of her lips for a second, or if she didn't push him away as quickly as she should have, or if she didn't want to at all, he needs to know.

"And nothing. He put his hand on my waist, so I knew something was up. Then he leaned in, and I saw it coming and dodged it."

He sighs in relief. "Okay."

"You're not mad?"

"Oh, I'm furious with him."

"Kyo-kun," she says softly, a smile playing at her lips.

"I know," he mumbles. "It shouldn't matter. And I've been doing such a good job at keeping my cool lately…" He sighs, angry with himself. "You...just make me weak."

He looks up at her, taking in her gentle smile and the fondness in her eyes. "You can be weak around me all you want."

"Thank you," he whispers back. She kisses his nose.

"But I do wonder something…"

"Yeah? What's that?"

"Why do I make you feel weak?" Her tone is playful. He smiles a bit and shakes his head, tugging her down onto his lap. She giggles and positions herself so that she's straddling his hips.

"Well, I mean…" He pauses, bringing his face close to hers. "Like I said, you're mine...right?"

"I'm yours," she affirms. Then she captures his lips. It starts as sweet and soft, but her words make him burn in an odd way, and he puts a hand on the small of her back, pulling her in even closer to deepen the kiss. She whimpers against his lips as his tongue swipes against hers. He pulls back, but just by centimeters. "Say it again?" he asks, voice low.

She puts her hands on his cheeks and tugs him back into a short peck before saying, without hesitation,"I'm yours. Only yours. Forever."

"I'm yours, to—" he starts to say back, but he's cut off by a hungry kiss, and he can't really do anything but follow her lead and let himself get swept away by the energy she's exuding.

Between heated kisses, she tells him, "You're the only one I ever want to be with, and kiss, and touch, and... " She breathes the words into his mouth, and they get swallowed as he nips at her bottom lip. She shifts in his lap, and she must feel...well, that, because her eyes widen a bit. She moves her lips down to his neck, trailing slow, open-mouthed kisses downward, leaving his skin blazing hot in her wake. He squeezes her hips with trembling hands.

"Please...more?" she asks.

She sounds so desperate, yet also so sure of herself and what she wants. But really, Tohru is always sure of herself when it matters. She knows what she wants, and if it's important, she goes and gets it, no matter the cost. That's the only reason they're here right now—together, no curse. He owes her everything. And he'll give her whatever she wants, not only because of what she constantly does for him and gives to him. But also because he's madly in love with her, and she's so sexy, and she says she's his, and he'd be crazy to not want to make love to her right now, to give her more and more and more every day for the rest of their lives, if she lets him.

He nods a bit, mind hazy from what she's doing to his neck, then manages to pick her up as he stands on shaky knees. She laughs as he does so, and he stumbles the few steps over to his futon before lying her down to finish what she's started.
