A/N: So I know it took so long to get this chapter out, but the thought of finishing this story got me through it. This is the last chapter and it's not much, but their is an epilogue. I was going to write their wedding but decided not to. I think we've been to enough weddings or read about them to know how they go.
But anyways, I'm really sad to post the last chapter, and not just because I got done reading the one before it and teared up a little. But as most of you know, I have many other wips that I want to tackle and finish, and I also have a couple new ones, so I thought it'd be better to finish some of my old ones first.
"How was your flight?" Brennan stands from the couch to greet his son and pulls him into a hug once Liam drops his bags.
"It was fine."
"How are you, Brennan?" Elsa asks, taking her turn for a hug.
"I've been well."
Killian grabs Emma's hand, rubbing her thumb with his. Liam and Elsa have no idea what news they're about to drop on them. But they'll know the second they see her. Because it's now the end of May and Emma's seven months pregnant and definitely showing. And she's wearing a royal blue dress that snugly hugs her belly, so there won't be any doubt about it.
When Liam and Elsa enter the room, Killian and Emma stand, still holding hands.
Killian flashes a tentative smile. "Hey brother, we have some news."
Liam's eyes widen when he sees Emma, and Elsa looks like she's not sure if she should be excited or not.
Liam plants his face in his hand, mumbling into his palm. "Oh, little brother. Please tell me you didn't."
Killian sucks in a deep breath, unwilling to let his brother's words affect him. He stands behind Emma and wraps his arms around her, leaning in to kiss her cheek.
Emma beams, neither of them ashamed of telling Liam they're expecting. "He did. We're having a baby girl."
Liam drops his hand and his mouth hangs open; he's unable to form words.
Elsa steps up to Emma and wraps her and Killian both into a hug. "Congratulations to the both of you!"
"Congratulations?" Liam looks at his fiancé, appalled. "How can you say that? They're too young."
"My parents were sixteen when they had me," Emma says, no longer ashamed to tell people that. She's not ashamed of what her parents went through to make sure she was loved and cared for and cherished. And she won't apologize for having this baby at eighteen or out of wedlock.
"And that makes this okay?"
"We're not asking for your approval," Killian says sternly, standing next to Emma and taking her hand in his again. "We're just letting you know this is happening. We hope you'll be a supportive brother and uncle. And you don't have to worry because Emma and I have a plan. We're moving into our new apartment after graduation and we both have jobs lined up near campus."
Liam scratches his head, trying to process all of this. He looks at Emma. "What about your parents? They're okay with this?"
She nods. "They're happy to be grandparents." She exchanges a look with Killian and smiles before reverting her eyes to Liam and Elsa. "We also have some other news." She holds up her hand, showing off her beautiful ring. "Killian and I are getting married. And my dad's officiating."
Liam is not too happy at first, but after Brennan has a chat with him about his manners when he basically has a fit, he warms up to the idea.
The next day, Emma and Killian graduate from high school and both of their families sit together in the bleachers, cheering them on. Emma will never forget the look of pride in her father's eyes when he sees his baby girl walk across the stage to get her diploma.
For the next couple of days, Killian and Emma pack up their belongings and drive to their new apartment. Killian takes her hand as he leads her through the door. The apartment is not much, but it's their home, and that's what makes it so special. She and Killian don't have to sneak around anymore. They don't have to sleep in separate beds or wait until the next morning to see each other. They can just be together. They can go to bed together and sleep together and wake up together. Killian can sing lullabies to her pregnant belly before they both drift off to sleep in each other's arms. Emma didn't know exactly how much she wanted or needed this until this very moment.
Killian leads her to one of the bedrooms and opens the door.
She gasps as her eyes circle around the room in awe. There's a crib and rocking chair and pink wallpaper and pink curtains. There's a baby changing station and a dresser for their baby's clothes. Emma's so excited and can't wait to have her baby girl. Tears are leaking down her cheeks.
"Are you happy, love?"
She turns around, a big smile spreading across her lips. The apartment may not be glamorous, but honestly she'd be happy living in a cardboard box with this man. She steps up to him, gazing into his eyes as she cups his cheeks in her hands, whispering, "It's perfect."
He smiles, tears brimming his eyes as he wipes hers with his thumb. "I will do everything I can to make you and baby girl happy."
Emma leans in and kisses his lips. "I love you, Killian Jones."
"I love you, Emma Nolan."
