The Amestrian military reclaimed their border but instead of stopping, Central command ordered them to keep moving forward into Creta and take over the towns they came across. Edward was frustrated and verbalized it in their meeting. "Why the hell are we trying to conquer Creta? Wouldn't it be easier to defend the border?"
Mustang answered "We want Creta to surrender and make peace terms with us. And they are being very stubborn." Edward sighed. He wanted to go home. Mustang continued. "Central has ordered a new plan for us. We are to take over the rest of the town of Linzburg and capture high ranking officials. We are hoping this will urge Creta to surrender." Mustang had the teams assigned to zones and they would move out at 2300.
The teams crossed the river to reach their destination zones. Edward had a team of six including Scarlett, Dragneel, Gray, Alphonse, Connell, and himself. They moved into the town quietly and found the building they were supposed to invade. They found the two story building. It was a small town that only had an inn. Edward walked in and showed his gun to the inn keeper, who let them through. Edward went upstairs followed by his team. Scarlett was outside and shot at the window that was part of the room that the officials were staying in. She hid behind another building as shots were fired out of the window.
Edward kicked down the door and Dragneel threw a grenade inside. It exploded and a man screamed and fell on the floor. He was unable to open his eyes due to his facial wounds. Edward, Alphonse, Connell, and Gray ran in with their weapons up. The 2 standing officials held their hands up while the other lay on the floor. Gray saw the battle maps and grabbed them. Edward ordered tied their arms behind their back and they moved downstairs quickly and outside.
More shots were fired between the Creteans and Amestrians outside. Jeans team was distracting the Creteans so Edwards team could escape with the prisoners.
Maria Ross and others were on the Amestrian side of the town and provided cover fire. Edwards team lost the one official that had facial wounds. He was slowing them down and was eventually caught in the crossfire. Edward and team brought the officials to their side and delivered them to the command post. Mustang was thrilled and the officials were interrogated for information, which was difficult to get. But Gray had provided maps that held valuable information.
A flare was sent up and Jeans team retreated knowing that the officials had been captured. Ross and others provided more cover.
One month later, the spring flowers were in full bloom. Winry, Granny Pinako, Riza, and Ben were in the living room after dinner reading and listening to the radio. An announcer came on the radio and told Amestris that the war was over. Creta had surrendered and Amestris was negotiating peace terms with them.
Winry picked up the baby and hugged Riza. They were so happy that it was over. Winry looked at her son. "Daddy's coming home." She hugged the baby tight and danced with him to the victorious music that was playing.
