As always, these characters are not mine but they are fun to write with. I hope you enjoy this!

Edward arrived on a train to Risembool station. He had been away for two weeks in Central doing lectures on his newly published and planning his next research trip to Aerugo. Normally, Winry would be waiting for him but his train had been delayed about an hour and it was almost dinner time. He assumed that she was probably at Granny's fixing dinner, and Granny did not like to eat late.

Edward walked to his and Winry's home. He dropped off his suitcase and found the note that she left him stating what he had assumed. He made his way to Granny's house. 'At least dinner should almost be done by the time I get there,' he thought.

Edward walked in to Granny's and was greeted by Eva, their dog, who followed Winry to Granny's everyday to be by her side. He made his way to the kitchen. Granny was sitting at the table and Winry was at the stove. "Welcome back, Ed!" Winry said. She stopped stirring the pot and hugged him.

"It feels good to be back," Edward said. He kissed her on the cheek. They had gotten a little more comfortable showing some affection.

"I'm making stew. It's almost ready," Winry said. He went to sit down and noticed there were four place settings.

Granny noticed this. "Winry says we are having a guest this evening."

"Oh, who is it?" Edward asked.

"She says it's a surprise," Granny answered. Winry kept stirring pretending she didn't hear their discussion. Edward wasn't in the mood for a surprise guest. He had been on a long train ride with an additional hour delay due to sheep being on the track.

Edward looked at Winry. "Hey Win, when is the guest coming?"

Winry turned from the stove and looked at them. 'Might as well get it out,' she thought. "Well Ed, the guest is already here. I'm pregnant," she smiled.

Edward's mouth dropped open and he took a deep breath. He slowly got up and walked over to her. She started to look concerned at his reaction. He put his hands on her shoulders. "Are you serious? Are you sure?" he asked. She nodded.

"Yeah, I went to the doctor a few days ago and he confirmed it," Winry told him. Edward put his hands on her waist and picked her up and swung her around.

"Winry, this is incredible. I can't believe it." Edward said as he spun her around. Winry giggled and he set her down and kissed her on the lips. "Wow, that didn't take long at all," he said. He rubbed his bangs out of his face. Edward still couldn't believe it.

"Yeah, we've only been trying for a month before you left," Winry said. Then she realized that she was revealing their sex life to her grandmother. They looked over at her.

Granny was astounded but really happy. "It's about time you two."

Edward and Winry looked at each other and smiled warmly. Then Winry started to pale. "I think I need to sit down. I feel a little lightheaded," Winry said. Edward guided her to the table. "Sorry, I probably just need to eat something but the stew is ready."

Edward offered "I'll make you a plate. You just sit and relax." He gave her a heaping portion.

"Edward! I can't eat all that." Winry yelled.

"You're eating for two. You need to eat more," Edward argued as he got Granny a bowl and set it in front of her.

Granny spoke up. "Winry does need to eat just a little more but in between meals. It'll help you with the nausea and lightheadedness." Edward sat down next to Winry and enjoyed his stew. He was so happy that he couldn't help but smile.

Edward realized something. "We gotta call Al and tell him. The phone bill will be worth it just to hear his reaction!" Edward was about to get up but Winry stopped him.

"Wait Ed. I want us to wait in case, you know, it doesn't take," Winry said a little sad at the thought that this pregnancy could end.

Edward sighed. "Right, so when is it safe to tell people?"

Granny answered "When Winry is about three months along. How far along are you?"

"The doctor said about six weeks. So it'll be our little secret for a little longer." Winry said trying to reassure Edward.

Edward understood. He also realized he needed to read on this subject. He needed to make a trip to the bookstore in the morning. "Okay, it'll be our little secret." Edward said a little lighter and squeezed her hand under the table. He asked Winry "What else did the doctor say?"

"Oh just that I need to eat healthy and get plenty of rest. He said I might be more tired and nauseous in the next few weeks but I should feel better after I'm three months along. Oh, and I'm due February fourth! What if it's born on your birthday, Ed? Wouldn't that be funny?" Winry asked him.

"Wow that would be awesome! Have the same birthday as my kid," Edward replied. Edward took their empty bowls and put them in the sink. Winry informed him that there was pie ready for them too. She liked spoiling him after he came home from a trip.

Later the night after getting home, Edward was in bed reading and waiting for his wife. Normally after he returned, they would be intimate once they settled in bed for the evening. Winry got in bed in her nightgown and Edward put his book on his nightstand and started kissing her neck to signal to her that he was ready. But to his surprise, she put her hands on his chest and turned her face from him. "I'm sorry but can we do this another time? I'm not feeling all that great."

"Well of course! I'm sorry. I didn't know you weren't feeling good." Edward felt bad that he hadn't seen it.

"Yeah, I just started feeling it again when I started brushing my teeth. This nausea sucks," Winry explained.

"You want me to get some crackers from downstairs. Your grandmother said they might help settle your stomach." Edward said. Winry nodded and he brought the crackers and a glass of water to her. She started eating them and her stomach calmed down some.

About a month later, Edward was getting his suitcase ready for his next research trip. He would be in Aerugo for 2 months. He wanted to get this trip done and over with so he could come home and help his wife. She was ten weeks along now so they were almost able to tell people the news.

Edward came downstairs. It was late in the evening, and Winry was resting on the couch reading. She still had morning sickness and would sleep 10 hours a night because she was so tired. Creating life was exhausting.

The phone rang and he answered it. His eyes widened and a big smile ran across his face. "Alphonse?" he asked.

Edward and Al were so close. It had been far too long since they heard each other's voices. They immediately dove deep into their research discussions. After their research discussion, Winry could see Edward wanted to tell Al about their recent development. She figured telling Al over the phone would be more personal than reading it in a letter.

"Ed, just go ahead and tell him," Winry said. She got up and moved closer to the phone because she wanted to hear his reaction too.

"You sure?" Ed asked her. Winry nodded.

Edward spoke into the phone. "Well Al, we have something to tell you but you have to promise to keep it a secret for 2 more weeks." Al was confused but agreed.

"Winry's pregnant," Edward said. They waited for Al's response but it was silent. "Alphonse, you there?"

"Yeah brother, I'm here. Wow, I just can't believe it. I mean I always saw Winry as a mom but you're going to be a dad," Al said.

Edward was irritated. "What's that supposed to mean?" he yelled.

"Well Winry is kind and caring so she's going to be a great mom. But you, I just never saw as a dad." Alphonse said. Winry laughed. Edward showed his feelings in his own way so she could see what Al was trying to say.

Al continued. "You'll do great brother. I'm excited that our family is growing. You know it's been only us for a long time."

Edward's irritation went away and his face softened. "Yeah I know. It'll be great adding another family member."

Edward, Al, and Winry spoke about the details regarding the new addition and it's expected time of arrival. Al wanted to come see them and be there when the baby was born. He had been planning to visit soon so he and Edward could work together.

Author's note: So in the first anime, Edward's birthday is February 3rd so I kept it as that.
