Summer 1919

Ben was five months old and starting to ear solid foods. Winry had made a delicious Shepherd's pie for dinner, and Edward set Ben in his highchair to feed him. Edward tasted the mashed potatoes that Winry had put into a bowl for the baby, making sure they weren't too hot. Ben opened his mouth in expectation, but fussed Ed started blowing on the spoon. "Hold on kid, it's hot," Edward told him but the baby still fussed. Edward blew hard and fast and started leaning the spoon towards once he was satisfied with temperature. Ben calmed down as soon as food was given to him.

Alphonse smirked "So impatient, I wonder where he gets it from." Edward gave him an evil glare, and Winry laughed a little.

Al and Winry ate their food while Edward fed the baby. When the baby was done, Alphonse took him so Ed and Winry could eat together. Al smiled as he held him. "I'm going to miss this little guy. I'm not going to see him for a long time."

"Yeah, me too," Edward said in between bites. The Elric brothers were going to different cities around Amestris to promote their book on Alkhahestory. Mainly to the alchemists at the military bases but also medical universities. Edward would be back in 2 months but Alphonse would be going back to Xing to get more instruction from May.

Once everyone had finished eating dinner, they went into the living room to listen to the radio. The baby laid on the blanket while Al and Ed played with Ben. He rolled from side to side on the blanket. Ed picked him and bounced him on his legs. Winry watched in adoration from the sofa.

Later on, after putting Ben to bed, Winry took Edward into her workroom to tune up his leg before he left. Alphonse was packing in his room. He laid on the exam table while she did her work. Winry and Edward didn't have sex as often because they were exhausted by nighttime. But with Ben only getting up once at night, they were able to get some more rest recently. But Winry still felt like she was trying to catch up on sleep.

"Yeah, we'll get our energy back. I'm glad he's sleeping more now." Winry said.

Edward pulled away and looked at her. "You sure you're going to be okay without me here?"

"I'll be fine. I have a sitter to help me out when I work and when I need a break." Winry told him. Edward was a good father and helped a great deal. But he also needed to do this book tour so he could earn more income. "I'll miss you honey," Winry said.

"I'll miss you, too," Edward said. They got dressed and went upstairs to help Edward get packed.
