One Month later…

For a week, something had been bothering Edward. Winry was acting odd. She wasn't her usual happy self. She seemed anxious when they were alone, which wasn't too often. After putting Ben down for the night, he decided to confront her about it. He took her hand before she could go downstairs, and guided her to their bedroom. He sat on the bed and waited for her to sit. She knew it was coming and sat next to him. "What's bothering you lately?"

She sighed and knew it couldn't wait any longer. "You remember we went to the dance last month?"

"Yeah, we had a good time."

"Well remember when we got back to the hotel, we were…. Intimate, and the next morning, I realized …." She started sniffling and tearing up. "I had forgotten to put in my diaphragm. I'm pretty sure I'm pregnant." She cried more and leaned into his shoulder. "I'm so sorry!" She wailed into his chest.

He patted her back and absorbed the news. "Is that what this was all about? You idiot. You could've told me sooner, "he tried to comfort her.

"I know but this wasn't part of the plan."

"So what? I'm happy about it. We were planning on giving Ben a sibling, right? It's just sooner that we had planned." Edward knew his research trip was coming up and they wanted to wait to give Ben a sibling after he returned but things don't always go according to plan. Winry calmed down and looked up at him. He kissed her tenderly. "It's going to be okay." He told her and tried to comfort her by smiling at her.

Winry went to the doctor that week, and it was confirmed that she was pregnant with their second child. She started to feel better about this baby, even if it wasn't planned. Edward and her would still be able to have the baby, and give it a good home. Ben would be getting a sibling, which was great. Winry didn't have a sibling but she loved Edward and Alphonse's relationship.

A month later, it was Ben's second birthday, and they had extra people at the house. Alphonse had come in from Xing, and Izumi and Sig had shown up to stay for a few days. Edward got up the morning of and made pancakes. He was letting Winry sleep in since she was more tired due to sharing her body with a baby again. He heard Ben upstairs getting out of bed and he caught him before he went to snuggle with Winry. "Let momma sleep. She's really tired." Ben looked up at him, and Edward picked him up to take him downstairs. "Daddy made pancakes." Edward told him, and Ben beamed at him.

"Yay! Pancakes!" He set him in his highchair, and brought over a plate with a pancake. Edward cut it up for him, and he happily ate.

Winry got up an hour later after everyone else. Alphonse saw her come downstairs. "You slept in really late. Feeling okay?" Winry paused. She didn't want to give it away.

Edward piped in. "You've been working too much lately. You need to pace yourself."

"I know, I'm sorry." She said and went to eat breakfast and bake a cake for her little boy. Alphonse was surprised that she apologized. Normally they would bicker.

After the birthday party, they sat at the dinner table. Ben had skipped his nap to celebrate and passed out early. They were playing card games and talking between turns. Izumi asked "Now that Ben's 2, when is the next one coming?".

Winry and Edward flustered. Was it obvious? Or was it coincidence? Winry looked at Edward and saw that he was just as caught off guard. She took a breath in "Well, actually, later this year. I'm pregnant."

Everyone stopped and stared at her. "That's great!" Izumi went and hugged her. Another grandchild to add.

"Wow, congrats brother." Al patted Edward on the back.

Izumi looked at Al. "You need to catch up Alphonse."

Al blushed. He didn't even have an official girlfriend yet. He wanted the attention off of him. "So um, Winry, when are you due?"

"The doctor says September 4th. I'm only 2 months along. We wanted to be sure it took before telling people." She said.

Edward went to the fridge and got a few beers out for his guests. "Well, the cat's out of the bag. Let's celebrate." They toasted to their growing family.
