Bella groaned and shifted in her bed, remembering instantly, why drinking so much was a bad idea. The hangover afterwards. She sighed, rolling in her bed and hitting another human. She frowned, and instantly felt her anxiety spike. She looked under the covers; she was still dressed. She remembered walking back to the loft with Simon and Jace. She might have passed out after getting there.
The person shifted, and rolled over, and Bella stopped breathing momentarily.
"Hmm?" Simon's eyes were closed.
"Simon." Bella murmured. "Are you awake?"
Simon shifted again. "Yeah." He said and blinked a few times, his vision clearing up from just waking up, and he looked at Bella. "What time is it?"
"Uhhh." Bella looked over at the clock. "Nine."
"Okay. I don't have to be at the studio until two." Simon said and ran a hand over his face. "Do you have to work?"
Bella shook her head. "No. Simon," she murmured.
"Yeah?"
"You're in my bed."
Simon looked around. "Yeah. I carried you in here last night. You are not heavy, but I think I was a little too drunk too. I tripped and fell with you on the bed. I tried to get up, but you wrapped yourself around me and wouldn't let me go, so I gave up. I passed out not long after."
"I'm so sorry." Bella said quickly, heat rising to her face.
"It's fine. I think I was really tired anyways."
"Oh god. Maya. She's going to- "
"Maya and I…" Simon sighed. "She's pregnant."
Bella felt even worse. "I know, which makes me feel worse."
"I didn't get her pregnant." Simon said it out loud, realizing the weight someone felt lifted. "She was being extra clingy because she was afraid that I would find out about her infidelity."
"Oh no. I'm really sorry."
Simon shook his head. "I'm okay. At some point, I realized that I wasn't in love with her, I just stayed with her because I knew nothing else. 3 years seems like a long time. When she threw my stuff out the window, I just knew that it was over. Then she told me she was pregnant, when I told her I was leaving. She told me she went to the doctor, that she was eight weeks pregnant, and that I couldn't leave her." He sighed. "I knew then that my suspicion was true, because it had been far longer than 8 weeks since the last time me and her were intimate in any way."
"I'm really sorry. I don't know what to do…to help."
Simon shook his head. "Nothing. There's nothing anyone can do to help. I told her that I knew that she was with someone else, and she shut up then. She didn't say anything else, just cried. I left. I told her I wouldn't be back, but I would let her keep the apartment. So don't worry about it too much." He looked over at her with a smile. "I am sorry for staying the night without talking to you really. I didn't mean for this to happen."
Bella shook her head. "No. It's fine, I just…. was worried about you."
There was banging at Bella's door, and it startled her.
Simon frowned. "I'll go. That doesn't sound-"
"It could be Edward." Bella murmured, her eyes taking on a terrified look.
"I'll go see. Stay here." Simon said and got out of bed. He was still wearing his clothes from the previous night. He went to the door and opened it, Bella was right, it was Edward. "No. You don't go past this point."
"Are you kidding me? What happened to not being involved?" Edward said, his voice like venom.
"She's a friend. She has a couch, we drank a lot last night. I didn't want to drive, but that's none of your business." Simon bit back.
Edward made a hmph noise. "You are the one poisoning her mind. We were fine before you and the neighbor decided to butt in."
"No, you weren't. Bella doesn't belong to you or anyone. Leave now, or I will call the police."
Jace came out of his apartment, his towel around his hips. "I figured you would show your face again."
Edward turned. "I'm here for Bella, neither of you will get in my way," he said and started to push past Simon, but Jace grabbed him by the shoulder and then just threw a punch at him, knocking him backwards.
"Simon, go inside, call the police, and make sure Bella is okay." Jace said as Edward got back to his feet.
Simon did just that, shutting the door and going to the bedroom, and grabbing his phone.
"What's going on?"
"Jace said to call the cops." He said and did just that, except he called Luke. He was a detective here in Brooklyn and he knew he could get here faster. "Luke, we have a situation that requires a police presence. I'm at Magnus' Loft building."
"Be there in five." Luke said and hung up.
Simon looked at Bella, who was looking scared, and was starting to just close down. "Hey, everything is going to be okay. Luke will handle Edward, and we'll make sure there's a restraining order."
Bella was shaking, trying to calm herself down, but it wasn't working.
Simon got on the bed, and just hugged Bella to him. "Hey, it's okay. He's not going to hurt you. Jace and I won't let that happen. You're completely safe right now."
Bella sighed, as Simon's arms enveloped her. Her anxiety was too much to handle being touched, but she didn't move away. "Simon."
"Bella."
"Thank you."
Simon just squeezed her a little.
Luke got there, and Jace had Edward on the ground, his arm twisted up behind his back. "Jace, I got it." He said and Jace got up, and Luke placed cuffs on Edward.
"Alright what's going on?"
"This brute attacked me." Edward spat.
Luke rolled his eyes. "Okay, that brute subdued you. Jace go get Simon. Let him explain to me what the hell is happening."
Jace nodded and then went to Bella's door, punching in her door code. He found her in the bedroom with Simon, where he was hugging her, calming her down. "Luke's here."
Simon nodded. "Alright, the police are here. Edward isn't going to hurt you, but you need to come help explain the situation, and the restraining order."
Bella agreed, and got out of bed, and followed Simon and Jace outside.
Luke looked at Bella, and then to Simon. He wasn't sure what was going on, but he would ask Simon about it later.
"Thanks for coming Luke."
"Calling your cop friends because you're sleeping around with another man's woman." Edward spat.
Luke raised a brow.
"You were arrested once for beating on her, you think that you can smooth talk your way out? Shut the fuck up." Jace barked at him.
Luke looked at Bella. "Ma'am, is this man a danger to you?"
"Yes." She said, her voice tight.
"Do you have a restraining order in place?"
Bella shook her head.
"Okay, we'll file one then if you wish. Meanwhile, Edward, you're going down to the station. What do we call this, guys, trespassing?"
Jace snorted. "Yeah, trespassing for now. Disturbing the peace too. Don't forget domestic assault and battery."
Edward laughed. "Really? I'm a lawyer, do you think that- "
"Shut up." Luke said and sighed. "I'll get him out of here. Ma'am, come down to the station, and fill out a restraining order. We'll get it filed, and since big shot is a lawyer, he knows what happens next." He drug Edward away, and Bella let out the breath that she was holding.
"I feel like all I do is cause trouble." Bella said, hugging her arms around herself.
"You're not trouble." Jace said. "He's the ass, and he needs to leave you alone."
Bella swallowed and nodded. "Thank you." She then realized that Jace was only in a towel. "Oh, uh, you should get back to your shower."
Jace remembered what he was doing before he heard all the commotion. "Oh, right. I'll see you guys later then." He said and went back into his loft.
Simon turned to Bella. "We'll go to the station, get the restraining order in place, and then the studio?"
Bella nodded, and then she went inside, and made herself more presentable, while Simon waited out in the living room. She joined him a while later, and they left to go down to the station.
[Later at the Studio]
Bella felt somewhat relieved that the restraining order was filed. Now she was listening to Simon talk about something with Mike, when Marcus walked in. He was a tall guy, older than she imagined, and his dark hair, was to his shoulders. He was clean shaven, and his eyes were a honey color.
"Ah, Bella. Just the woman I wanted to see."
Bella smiled. "Hello."
"I'm Marcus. Marcus Voltaire. I'm Simon's manager."
"Oh, nice to meet you Mr. Voltaire."
Marcus smiled. "Call me Marcus. I've listened to the track with you and Simon singing together, and have added it to the album that is dropping on Friday. I wanted to go over some paperwork with you."
Bella nodded. "Of course."
"You're not signed to a label. In addition to being Simon's manager, I own the Voltaire label. I'm interested in signing you."
Bella blinked a few times. "I don't know what to say…I'm not a professional singer. I-"
"You have what it takes. You have a voice like an angel. You, my darling, are a star."
Bella didn't know what to say. "I've never thought about it before. I don't know how to write songs, or-"
"I can help." Simon said. "I'm a songwriter, I know how the composition works. I can help."
Bella looked at Simon and then back at Marcus. "Okay." This was a shot that millions of people wish that they got, and she couldn't pass up an opportunity like this. "Okay, I'll do it."
Marcus smiled. "Just what I wanted to hear. Alright, we'll go over paperwork, and all the other details. What is your last name my dear?"
"Swan. Bella Swan."
"You're beautiful like a Swan." Marcus complimented her, and then they walked to his office.
[Wednesday: Photoshoot]
Bella's life was changing so fast, but she was trying to keep up. Clary was with her at the photoshoot that Marcus wanted her to be at, to help get her image out there and who she was.
"You look beautiful." Clary said with a smile. "And you're a natural model."
Bella smiled. "I'm just doing what they tell me to do." She said and fidgeted with the heels. She was dressed in a dress, that was black, and open on the front slightly, and the sleeves were off the shoulder some. She had some cleavage, but it was done tastefully, and she really was liking the shoot.
When the last shots were taken, Bella changed into clothes that Clary brought her. It was a blue pencil skirt that hugged her hips, and stopped right above the knee, and then a black tank top shirt that had white music notes splashed on it, and just a pair of black converses. Bella left her hair down in the waves, and she didn't take off the makeup, because the makeup artist did a great job, and she wanted to rock the smoky eye for a while. They went to Pandemonium since it was getting late already.
They went to the bar, and Jace looked at her, and the expression on his face, made Bella feel better about her image. "Hey Jace."
Jace smiled. "Well, you look hot." He complimented. "How did the photoshoot go?"
"Really awesome. It was a different experience for me, and I actually did like playing dress up, despite my aversion to dresses." Bella said with a laugh.
Magnus walked up and made a whistling sound. "Oh baby, you are insanely hot. Come dance with me, I must show you off."
"I don't really dance."
"Nonsense! We will dance tonight!" He said, theatrically and grabbed her hand and drug her to the dance floor.
Bella was nervous, but Magnus made her smile, and laugh. She was having fun. This is what fun felt like, and she wanted to be freer like this all the time.
Clary looked at Jace, who was watching Bella, and she knew that he was just hooked on her. "You know, you're single and she's single."
Jace looked at Clary and shook his head. "No. Clary, I am not dating my neighbor."
"Could be roommates if you really like her." Clary said with a teasing smile.
Jace shook his head. "No, she's not…. she's not the type of girl I go for."
"Why not? She's hot, smart, and she's fun."
Simon arrived then, looking exhausted. "Hey guys." He said and then glanced over and saw Magnus and Bella dancing. She was laughing and smiling. It made him smile.
Jace looked at Simon's face as he watched Bella and looked at Clary. "That's also why." He said with a nod in Simon's direction.
Clary looked at her best friend, and his gaze and how enthralled he seemed to be with her. She smiled. "Go dance."
Simon shook his head. "Nah. She's having fun," he said and looked back at Jace. "Surprise me."
Jace smiled, and started mixing Simon a drink that was called a Caribbean rum punch.
When the music changed, Bella headed back towards the bar, Magnus in tow. "I don't think I have ever danced in public."
"You're a great dancer." Magnus said, slinging an arm around her and leaned in. He reached up and tilted her face to look at him. "You are intoxicatingly beautiful too. If I wasn't so committed to my husband, I would snatch you away." He said with a wink.
Bella smiled. "You'd return me within the first week." She teased back and looked over at Jace. "I would like a bourbon please."
"You need a fun drink." Jace said and starting mixing something else after sliding Simon his drink. A few minutes later, he slid Bella a blackberry bourbon smash. "Trust me." He said with a smile.
Bella studied the drink, and then lifted it, and tasted it. She was surprised at the taste, and she could still taste the bourbon.
After a couple hours of drinks and dancing, Bella happened to catch a glimpse of someone, she turned and looked again. "Jasper?"
Jasper hadn't changed much, his hair was still the longer, golden blonde hair, and his eyes were that brilliant honey color.
"Oh my god!" Bella exclaimed when he smiled at her and she just tackled him in a hug, his arms coming around her and he spun her around. "Emmy said you were in New York."
Jasper smiled down at her. "I am. Doing my residency over on 1st in New York City. Bellevue."
"That's incredible." Bella said, and leaned back. "I missed you. You never call anymore."
"I'm sorry, I got caught up with school and then now the residency. Em told me that you and Eddie split."
Bella nodded. "Yeah. A long time ago. Jasper…I can't talk about it right now, but I took a restraining order out against him."
Jasper frowned. "Was he hurting you?"
Bella nodded, and looked down.
Jasper tilted her face back up to him. "I'm so sorry." He said and kissed her forehead. "We won't talk about it right now though. Looks like you're having fun, and smiling, which makes me smile. Are you singing tonight?"
"Oh no no. Too drunk for that." Bella said laughing. "Come meet my friends." She said and grabbed his hand and toted him towards the bar. He put his arm around her waist as they came to a stop. "Guys, this is Jasper Hale. My best friend in the whole world." She said with a bright smile.
Jasper smiled. "Nice to meet y'all."
Clary smiled at him. "Southern gentlemen I assume."
"My sister and I were originally from Texas, yes ma'am."
Bella smiled. "Jazz this is Clary, Simon, Magnus, and Jace."
"Nice to meet you man." Simon said, shaking his hand.
"Pleasure is mine. Bella has always been an amazing singer, I'm just happy she's finally out of that shell."
Bella smacked Jasper's arm and he laughed. "You're the only one that ever heard me sing, and you never told me to go and be a sing star."
"Well darling, I figured you were gonna be a teacher, the way you always talked about kids. After…you and Eddie started dating, we didn't talk too much more about careers."
Bella nodded, understanding what he meant. Edward pushed her away from all her friends and the people she cared about. "Well, I just signed with Voltaire label, and I did my first photo shoot today."
Simon smiled. "Yeah, the first photo shoots are always the best ones. I have one next Tuesday for the after release of the album, which by the way, the art looks amazing. I looked at it earlier today. You're gonna love it."
"I can't wait. Marcus said something about wanting to drop the next album in two months with both of us featured on it." Bella recalled her conversation with Marcus earlier in the day.
"Yeah, I have a song I'm writing that calls for a duet. Originally, I was going to ask Clary to feature it, but she's a chicken, and won't sing in front of anyone."
"I have horrifying stage fright. I cannot get on a stage and sing. I also do not sound as amazing as Bella."
Jasper smiled. "She's one of a kind." He said and looked at her. "You need to meet my wife. You'd love her."
"You got married! And you didn't tell me!" Bella looked at him, a mixture of shock and hurt.
"I did. Her name is Leah. She actually lived on the rez back in Washington. I went back to revisit my brother and his wife, and I ran into her, and we just, clicked."
"Awww. Leah Clearwater?" Bella asked. "She is feisty."
"That she is." Jasper said with a smile. "I'm going to Em's next Thursday for dinner, you should come."
"I will definitely check my schedule, and let you know." Bella teased.
Jasper kissed her cheek. "Miss you Bellaboo, I'll see you later though, I need to head back home. I have to be up early for my shift at the hospital."
Bella hugged him and made sure he had her new number, and watched him leave. She sighed. "So many people I miss hanging out with."
"Hey, at least you guys are all in New York now, or close to it." Simon pointed out. "He seems great."
"Yeah, best friend. We conquered so many things together. When he graduated, I felt a little lost, but we talked a lot until Edward forced me to stop. It's my fault we haven't talked to each other in years." Bella said and lifted her drink.
They continued to drink and dance, until it got ready to close, and then they started home. Simon was crashing with Jace, and Clary was crashing with Bella, so she didn't have to go home for her mom to see how drunk she was.
Bella giggled as her and Clary tripped at the same time. She got to her door and punched in her code, and walked in. She gasped, as she saw all her things just trashed.
Simon and Jace looked into the loft from behind her and it was Jace that moved past them into the apartment. He was the only sober one, so he made sure there wasn't anyone in the loft.
"No one is in here, but they trashed everything. We had the locks changed, and the code was changed too." Jace said, frowning. He looked at windows, and found one unlocked. "He climbed up the fire escape and came in through here. He went back out this way too."
Bella felt the world spin, and Simon caught her. "Easy." Simon said gently.
Bella pushed away from Simon and went to the bathroom, feeling sick. Clary followed her, pulling her hair back and rubbing her back. Simon walked into the doorway and spotted the message on the mirror.
I own you.
Simon took his phone out, and took a picture of it. "Okay, everyone out of the loft. I'm going to call Luke, have him come and make a report. I'm positive it was Edward.
Bella groaned. "How can, you be sure?" She leaned up, and Clary grabbed toilet paper and gave it to her, and Bella wiped her mouth and flushed the toilet. She stood, wobbly, and noticed the message. It was scrawled in her eye liner on the mirror. She felt her stomach roll again and she hunched back over the toilet, and emptied all the contents in her stomach.
Jace sighed. "Yeah, everything is trashed or broken. You guys come stay at my loft tonight, we'll have Luke take a look around. I didn't touch anything."
Simon nodded, and when Bella was finished throwing up this round, Clary helped her up and out of the bathroom and to Jace's loft. Simon called Luke to have him come and make a report.
Jace gave Clary and Bella clothes to wear. They were big on them, but it was better than sleeping in what they were wearing. Bella got in the shower, and just let the water help soothe her. She washed the makeup off, and had to use Jace's body wash, and hair products on her, so now she smelled like Jace, which she admitted didn't smell bad like most of the men products on the market. She finished up quickly, not wanting to take long, and put on the oversized t-shirt that had Brooklyn across the front, and the jogging pants, she had to roll up several times. Clary took a shower next, not taking a lot of time at all.
Bella felt sober now, and afraid. She sat on the couch, and pulled her knees to her chest.
Simon walked over, handing her a bottle of water, before sitting on the couch next to her. "I'm sorry."
She shook her head, taking the water. "It's not your fault." She murmured. Her head was hurting now, and she was so exhausted. She just wanted it to end. She wanted Edward to stop invading her life. She closed her eyes, and leaned her head on the back of the couch, before she knew it she drifted off. In her sleep, she slid down, her head resting on Simon's shoulder now. He didn't move, just let her sleep there.
He sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. He looked at Jace when he walked in from talking to Luke.
"I'll get a blanket." Jace murmured softly and disappeared and came back with a blanket. Clary was passed out in the extra bedroom on the futon in there. He draped the blanket over Bella, and looked at Simon. "She doesn't need all this. She's already fragile enough."
"I know." Simon said and sighed. "Go get some rest, I'll stay up for a while."
Jace nodded. "Alright." He said and disappeared back in his bedroom.
[The next day]
Bella felt her head pound as she started waking up. She was laying against a breathing chest, and she remembered she was sitting on the couch with Simon last night. She tried not to move too much, but her waking up, woke him up.
"Are you okay?" Simon's sleepy voice asked softly.
Bella was pressed against him tight, her braless breast pressing into his hard chest. "Uh, yeah." She said, and her checks flushed a little thinking about how close she was. Her anxiety was jumping all over the place. She wasn't trapped, she could get up, but she still felt anxious.
Simon had one arm around her and the other tucked under him, he opened his eyes and looked down at her. She looked impossibly beautiful, her eyes the perfect shade of brown. Feeling her against him like this, sent signals to his brain, signals that made him want to kiss her, but he stopped himself. He didn't know why he would kiss her. "Do you feel better?"
"Just a headache." Bella murmured, and shifted a little.
Simon swallowed, her moving, rubbing against him, made him want to touch her, and kiss her even more than he already did. "I'll get you some Tylenol. You just relax." He said, and he moved, easing her down onto the couch and got up. He went into the kitchen, finding the Tylenol, and getting water and bringing it back to her. She was sitting up now, and he noticed the outline of her breast in the t-shirt. He handed her the medicine and water, and looked away, picking up his phone. It was ten, and the others were likely sleeping still. "I have to go to the studio in a little bit, but Jace and Clary are still here. I'll text you later to check on you." He said and looked back at her.
Bella nodded. "Thank you." She murmured and watched him slip his shoes back on. "The album drop is tomorrow, right?"
"Yeah, Marcus has a shoot set up for both of us Saturday." Simon said, reading his texts from Marcus from last night. "I'll see you later on. I'll be in the studio late, pushing out the next song. You actually will likely be sleeping. Luke said he'll have someone clean the loft up for you, and they locked the window. They are hauling Edward in for questioning this morning, and things should be back to normal soon." He said and looked at her. "Don't worry too much. Luke will make sure things get handled."
Bella knew that. She was just nervous about living by herself after everything. "Yeah. I know. Have a good day." She said and watched him leave.
Friday came faster than Bella anticipated. She didn't see Simon at all yesterday, which was okay, he was busy. She spent her morning at the coffee shop with Clary.
"I'm telling you; my mom is overbearing. I'm still in college, and she's just…so nagging. I like to have fun, and be me, you know." Clary was complaining about her mom.
"Move out." Bella said with a shrug.
"Have you seen the prices on rent around here?"
Bella nodded. "Yeah, just move in with me then. I have the extra room. I already paid Magnus rent through the year."
Clary lit up. "Do you really mean it? I can move in with you?"
"Yeah. I don't like living alone really, anymore."
"Oh, yeah. Well, I'm not a messy person. I'm really organized and- "
Bella laughed. "The room is yours Clary. Bring all your stuff when you're ready."
Clary hugged Bella tight. "Oh, thank you thank you thank you!"
"You're welcome." Bella said.
The music playing in the coffee shop changed and Bella heard Terry's voice come over the speaker.
"What is up Brooklyn! Simon Lewis' new album dropped today, you can buy those at FYE, Best Buy, and more. You can also download his new single on iTunes along with the bonus track, featuring Bella. I'll play that for you guys right now."
The music started playing, and Clary looked at Bella, smiling wide. "That's you on the radio."
Bella was in shock. "That is me. Holy shit."
Simon walked into the coffee shop smiling. "Oh, it's playing in here." He said and looked at Bella's face, how happy she looked. "So, Marcus wants a music video. I told him I would ask you…"
"Oh, that sounds like fun." Bella said.
"Good, because music videos are fun. Does Wednesday sound okay? We're going to be shooting all day." Simon said.
"Should be fine." Bella said with a nod. "Oh, are you singing with me at Pandemonium tonight?"
Simon nodded. "Yeah, I might be late though, so if I don't make it, I'm sorry, but I will be there later. I do want to get a coffee. I hate to make you work."
Bella laughed. "I'll make you a coffee." She said and went behind the counter and made Simon his coffee, while he paid Clary at the register. Bella handed his coffee, and waved to him as he left.
[Pandemonium: Later that night]
Bella finished the set before Simon got there, and made it to the bar. Jace had her a drink ready. "Thanks, Jace."
"I heard the new song." Jace said with a smile. "You sound amazing."
Bella blushed a little. "I'm just there. Simon is the real talent."
"Don't sell yourself short, you are incredible Bella. I really mean that." Jace said, and they stared at each other a little longer than normal, but Bella smiled.
"Thank you then." Bella nodded and drank her drink down.
By 2am, the club was closing, and Simon hadn't made it at all. She wondered if he was still caught up in the studio, which was the likely answer. She didn't drink too much tonight, not wanting to have a hard time walking home. She waited on Jace, and he walked out with her, walking down the sidewalk towards the loft. The night was still warm, and Bella was thankful that she recently loved skirts and Clary helped her fill her closet with them.
She stumbled a little, and Jace caught her, his hand going to her waist to steady her. "Maybe I am a little tipsier than I thought."
Jace smiled. "You had three drinks. I have seen you drunk after ten or fifteen. You're just clumsy."
Bella smacked his arm, smiling at him. "Yeah, you're right, just don't point it out." They got up the stairs to their loft, and Bella turned and looked at him outside her door. "You know Jace, the first time I met you I thought you were this broody asshole."
Jace snorted, smiling a little. "I was probably coming home after my job, and had my airpods in, and was focused on food."
"Maybe." Bella shrugged. "But I'm glad you're my friend. You take care of me." She said with a nod.
"Someone has to." Jace said, still smiling. "You'll get yourself into trouble if I don't."
They stared at each other for a few long moments, and then Jace leaned in, his lips brushing over hers softly.
Bella wasn't sure what to think. Her eyes fluttered closed as she kissed him back.
Jace pulled back, clearing his throat a little. "I'm sorry. This isn't right, I…uh…shouldn't have done that."
Bella was confused. "Why not?"
"Because I'm not…Simon is my best friend, and I just…"
"What does Simon have to do with you kissing me?"
Jace looked at her, staring at her beauty. "Because I know you have feelings for him, and I'm not going-"
"Simon isn't available. I'm not really…either" She looked down. "But I don't know how I feel. About anyone."
"I'm sorry, I don't want to confuse you. I really do like you, and you're an amazing girl, and I'm just… I don't want to get in your way of anything, being the amazing person, you are."
Bella looked up at him again. "Jace, you'll never be in the way of anything." She said and nodded. "Good night." She murmured, and then unlocked her door, opening it and going inside.
Jace sighed as she closed the door, running a hand over his hair and then he hesitated. He knocked on her door. There was a pause and then she opened it. "Bella, I don't want you to be hurt."
"I'm not hurt Jace. I understand. Really, I'm not upset with you at all."
Jace nodded and then he stepped forward, kissing her, with a little more passion this time, and she moved into the loft with him, the door shutting behind them.
Their tongues met each other in a burning passion, until Jace's phone rang, pulling him out of the moment. He pulled back, slipping his phone from his pocket. It was Simon. He sighed and looked at Bella before answering. "Hello?"
"You're not at home, are you still at the club?"
"Oh, no. I'm at Bella's." Jace said, not wanting to lie. "I walked her home."
"Shit I forgot to text her. We ran over at the studio, and I didn't get to leave until after the club closed. Was she okay singing by herself on stage?"
"Yeah, she's fine. I'll be over in a few minutes." Jace said and then hung up. He looked at Bella. "I…"
Bella nodded, smiling. "It's okay. I'm pretty tired, I'm going to shower and just go to bed. I have a full day tomorrow with the studio and photo shoot."
Jace looked at his phone. "Yeah. It's pretty late." He said and looked at her. He stepped towards her, bringing her in for another kiss, a soft one. He had to kiss her, for the last time. Hearing Simon's voice made him realize that being here with Bella was not a good idea. He wasn't going to ruin his friendship, or the relationship that Simon and she had going on. "Have a good night." He said and walked out.
Bella sighed, and went and got her stuff together for the shower. She was tired, and knew she had to be up at a decent time to get to the studio.
