Little Snow's Guardian
Chapter 1
Kindling by wind; our love will reach the ears of the sky above.
The golden moon will glide as the ring of a groom and bride.
Only you and I here; Is this poetry penned forever?
Till eternity you are the only one for me.
"In three weeks, Jackson Overland Frost and Elsa Winters, will be wedded in this church. If any one has any objection or reluctance in this wedding, they should notify me or this church by letter. This is your first announcement."
No one, not even a single soul, included this marriage in their test of probability. Jack was east while Elsa was west. Everyone was surprised by this announcement. In fact it was the talk of the day. The town's people knew everything about the about- to- marrying couple. They have watched them grow in different ways. Their character, their likes, dislikes, habits, everything. Amusement was the only thing they had. But that was three weeks ago…
The sun shone throughout the town, the sky was bright blue. The birds sang their own song all day. Everyone seemed so happy. From the little kids to the adults, everyone one wore a neat dress to attend the upcoming marriage this afternoon. The bride maids spread gossip, the little children ran down the streets, the adults laughed, sharing their stories.
The streets were decorated with flowers and balloons. Jamie and Sophie skipped the steps and ran across the church to make their way towards the bride and groom.
"I'll go to Jack. You go to Elsa." Sophie said as Jamie nodded. They made their way past the group of chatting people having a bouquet of flowers in their hands. Everyone was so happy, except the bride and groom.
"Well well. Look who's handsome." Olaf gushed as he helped Jack with the jacket.
"I'll say. You look a lot nice and he couldn't even hide the blush." Bunny laughed as he pointed out Jack's cheek.
Jack groaned. "It's the rose powder, you kangaroo." He used his hand kerchief to dust it away. "And for your information, I'm always handsome. You should go check your eyes after a while."
Olaf and Bunnymund chuckled. "We don't want to argue with you here. This is going to be the best day of your life. Mark my words." Jack's smirk faded to an emotionless mask after he heard those words. He frowned and adjusted his buttons on his shirt.
"I never loved the idea of marriage. Especially with her. I only agreed to this because Manny told me so."
Olaf rolled his eyes. "No one is born as made for each other buddy. It's on how we live together." Bunny nodded to that.
Just before Jack could open his mouth, the door flung open. "Frosty!" A little voice shouted. He turned to see Sophie running with a bouquet in her hands. Jack squatted down as he caught and hugged the little girl in his arms.
The girl laughed. She handed him the bouquet, shyly. "This is for you Jack."
He smiled at her and took that bundle. "Thank you." Then he took one rose out and lended it to her. "And this is for you, princess." She giggled.
"Sophie, what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be with mama? Where is Jamie?" Bunny asked her.
"I just wanted to say hi to Jack, papa. Jamie went to say hi to Miss. Elsa." Bunnymund shook his head. He picked her up from the ground. "I'll come back within a few minutes okay?" He said to the men inside the room.
"Yeah sure. I will be here with our hero of this day." Everyone laughed.
In the other room, the bride was being primed by her sister. Her eyes were closed when the eyeliner slid on her eyelashes. Her wedding lay loosely on the bed. Her hair was down, she sat stiffly on the chair, allowing her sister to do whatever she wanted.
Anna smiled down at her. "Father would be so proud, honey." Elsa managed a smile that didn't reach her eyes. She never wanted to get married this soon, especially with someone whom she hates the most.
"Hurry up Anna, we shouldn't be late." Honeymaren said as she arranged the flowers in the cascade bouquet.
Anna rolled her eyes. "We still have time, Maren, and I want my sister to be perfect. Lift your chin a bit… just a bit…. And where is your brother?"
Honeymaren snorted. "He is with your husband, readying Sven and Marshmallow for the dog of honor." Anna's hand stopped. She looked at the woman before her. "Dog of honour?"
"That's what they said." Anna shook her head and continued her work. "They better don't mess up everything."
Then the door blasted open. "Miss. Elsa!" The women turned to see Jamie running with a small bouquet on his arms, and on that a messy handwriting read 'Happy married life'.
Elsa opened her eyes and saw Jamie handing her the bunch of flowers. "This is for you." He grinned cheekily. Elsa chuckled and accepted his flowers.
She lifted him up to her lap and kissed his cheek. "Thank you, Mr. Handsome." The boy looked away shyly at her praise.
"Awww. That is so sweet of you, little one." Anna crooned. The boy smiled at her and looked back at Elsa. "You look so pretty Miss. Elsa." Elsa rolled her eyes.
"Then all thanks to my sister then." She fixed his bow and dusted away the invisible dirt.
Knock Knock
"Who is it?" Honeymaren asked. The door opened to show a vexed Toothiana. "I'm so sorry for disturbing you. I came here to see if Jamie was here."
Just then Jamie poked his head to see his mother. He internally cringed at the look she gave him. "Sorry mama." He mumbled.
"It's alright." She sighed. "Now come on, we don't want to disturb them right?" He hopped down from Elsa's lap and ran towards his mother. "Bye Miss. Elsa!"
Elsa sighed as the door closed. She still couldn't believe that she is getting married today. She couldn't believe that she didn't get the life she wanted to have, to live with someone whom she loved more. She brushed away the tears that fell down, and to her luck no one saw her. Oh father, If only you could see me now!
"Okay missy, let's get you dressed."
The car stopped gracefully in front of the church. Pabbie got down first and extended his hands towards the bride. He stepped out, holding his hand. Her heart beat hastily as she started to walk inside.
Sophie and Jamie had huge grins plastered on their faces when they walked down the aisle. Sophie walked gracefully, as a flower girl. Jamie felt a bit nervous about keeping the rings from falling. Bunny was too busy taking photos of his kids with a proud smile.
Then she stepped into the church and felt all her gazes upon her except the groom. She was not very good with people especially when they had their attention on her. The crowd stood up for her, that made her even more anxious. She gripped the bouquet tightly.
After she stepped beside Mr.Overland, the bride and groom turned their eyes away from each other frowning. For only they knew how much hate they had for each other.
"Should anyone present know of any reason that this couple should not be joined in holy place, speak now or forever hold your peace." Everyone was silent. So the priest thanked the church and began the ceremony.
The ceremony started with prayers and hymns. Nothing was noticed by the bride and groom. They were in their own world of anxiety, hoping something good can happen today. And then it was time for their vows.
"Jackson Overland Frost, do you take Elsa Winters as your lawful wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?"
Jack stared at the priest for a moment and turned his head to his friends. They frowned. Olaf whispered to him to answer the priest. He swallowed hard and said, "I do." He was astonished for a second when his mouth accepted the woman beside him as her wife.
"Elsa Winters, do you take Jackson Overland Frost as your lawful husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?"
She has to do this. At least for her mother who was standing there with Anna, with a big smile on her face. It's all your fault father. She looked at the priest and said, "I do."
Nothing felt more bad than standing with this man beside her. They had their rings exchanged. An intense stare of anger passed the two as they did so.
Never did they think that they would be wedded to the person whom they hate most. They kept it with them. And maybe someday they will have a good life, better than they imagined.
It was late at night. Apparently the newly married couple were pushed into a room which was awfully decorated with flowers. Especially their bed. They were told that this would be their
home, especially designed by Manny. It was not bad but they didn't have the heart to sleep together.
Jack sat on the bed while Elsa stood with Marshmallow standing next to her. And Jack still felt confused for naming that beast as Marshmallow. He was so lost in his thoughts that he almost missed the clicking of the door.
He lifted his head to see Elsa moving out of the room. "Where are you going!?" He asked her in utter panic. Elsa turned to give him an annoyed look. "Are you expecting me to sleep in here? With you?"
With that she made her step to move out. But she was stopped by Jack. "Wait, you disrespectful woman." He spat out. Elsa turned and looked at him, her eyes like saucers.
"What did you call me?" Her voice was low and filled with anger. He didn't care how her voice was. He just wanted her to stay in this room.
"Look, I have promised your father that I will take care of you. You can't just go out to sleep in the other room."
"What you promised my father is between you two. That doesn't include me. And what is your problem if I go out to sleep in the other room?" She asked him. When she had no reply, she decided to move out. And again she was stopped.
"Wait!" Jack hissed. She groaned. "What now?" She whined.
Jack ran his hands through his hairIf she goes out, I should be here alone all night! He sighed. "Why should my life be this miserable!" He mumbled, closing his eyes in frustration.
"Huh? What was that?" She asked him, narrowing her eyes.
"It's nothing madam. The only job you have to do is to listen to me. Can't you do that?" He asked her almost pleadingly.
She crossed her arms and nodded.
"Good. Look if you go and sleep in the other room, what will the others think about us? Aren't we a married couple." He tried explaining to her. Of course he wouldn't ask her to stay if someone was with him in this room. This place was already creepy. The flowers, the candles, the bed…. Ugh! He cringed. And he shouldn't be here alone suffering these. That woman should too.
"Why would they come and see us?"
"You know about those old ladies. They have mouths larger than the whale. They have eyes everywhere like the CCTV. And imagine, if they spread gossip that we are sleeping in different rooms like this, how will your family feel? Think about your mother. Wouldn't she be broken?" He taunted.
Elsa bit her lip in worry. Her eyes drifted from the door to the bed. There was a pin drop silence. Then she sighed. "Fine. But keep your perverted mind away from me."
Jack went aghast when he heard those. "Perverted mind?! I'm not like you seducing the whole college by swaying hips in an unhealthy way."
Elsa's mouth went agape. "Seduce?! You are the one who got drunk in the bar and showed your hideous chest to those girls." She spat.
"That was one time. I was forced to go there. And you were one of those girls right?" He smirked.
Elsa snorted. "The whole town knows what you did. I don't have to go there and see that sight to say to you."
Jack stared at her, his mouth twitched. She turned her head away from him and looked down. "Marsh, go sleep in there." She motioned her fingers.
Jack watched the dog wag his tail as she petted him. And then Marshmallow gave a disapproving look to Jack because he never liked the humans who hate Elsa.
Elsa made her way to the bed and scattered those flowers away. "Stupid flowers." She mumbled. She slid down under it and closed her eyes but then grunted when she felt the other person slid under the blanket, stealing her's.
The war then started. The married couple fought for the blanket claiming it was theirs. The bed creaked while they moved their bodies around. Jack grabbed the cup of water on the nightstand and threw it on her. Elsa grabbed the pillow and beat him with it. Was it a blanket fight or pillow fight? They didn't know. They just had to win.
Marshmallow, who saw this whole thing, joined the fight. He didn't do much but rolled on the bed enjoying the feeling. He ripped one pillow in excitement and barked happily. After that whole scenario, they managed to tear the blanket into half. Satisfied, both returned to their sleep with Marshmallow in the middle.
