A/N This chapter was supposed to be updated yesterday but guess what? My app is having a problem again. I haven't been able to access my app since yesterday so I have to use the laptop to update this one. For one particular reason I hate it when my app doesn't work so I guess I have to be patient for that. And about this one, I was inspired by a song that talk about Love. They said, Love breaks and love divides. Love laughs and love can make you cry. And sometimes we cannot believe that love can give and love can take away. But you know what, the complicated and annoying things about love, you can't force it but you can't forget it easily either and maybe you will get hurt because of it. But when you have someone who loves you with all their heart, it is a blessing. And they don't have to be your soulmate. They could be your family, your mother and father or maybe your best friend. Be grateful and you will be able to feel all that love more beautifully. Thank you for the reviews, I really appreciate it and I hope I can finish this story soon. Enjoy the ride!
"Your call could not be connected. Please check the number and try again."
Jack put his cell phone on the table with a little force because this was the umpteenth time he tried to call Elsa but only the sound of the answering machine he heard. He felt so stupid now because he should have known better not to come over to her house this morning and hope that Elsa would show up at the office, which was something that had very little chance considering how angry Elsa had been yesterday, and here he was cursing his own stupidity because until after lunch time, he didn't hear anything from her. Even a word.
He had asked Lucy multiple times, her colleagues, and he even called the district court and the police station just in case Elsa went there. But nothing.
He thought about calling her home but he hesitated because he didn't know what to say if Iduna was the one who picked up the phone because he didn't know if Elsa had told her mother what had caused them to fight or not. God, he didn't know what to do.
"Sir?"
Lucy's voice was heard following a soft knock on his room door, causing Jack to snap out of his thoughts and look up.
"Yes? What is it?" Jack was trying really hard to look normal, because his actual state was so far from that.
"Mr. Wade is here. He wants to see you." Lucy informed Jack.
Jack sighed softly. Honestly he couldn't really work at the moment because his mind was always thinking about his fiancé, but he had to.
"Okay. Send him in."
"Clover Hill?" Elsa asked a mansion keeper who was in charge of guarding a large and luxurious mansion that turned out to be uninhabited apart from him and a few maids.
According to the address given by her mother, after hours of traveling from Eirlys, Elsa finally found her destination. At first she was very nervous when she was about to get out of the car because the thought of meeting her father made her doubt whether she was ready or not, but when the mansion keeper said that no one lived in the mansion, she felt disappointed.
"Yes, Miss. Mr. Agnarr Arendelle had moved to Clover Hill. And after his father Mr. Runeard Arendelle passed away, he hardly ever visited this place. He just asked me to do routine maintenance here." The mansion keeper answered. He sounded very polite despite the fact that he didn't let Elsa inside and only met her at the gate. He seemed completely unwilling to risk the presence of a stranger.
"Do you know where exactly he lives?" Elsa asked hopefully. She certainly didn't think she'd be successful right away, and she was determined that she would look for her father until she found him.
"I'm sorry, Miss. I don't know where exactly. I only know that he lives there."
Elsa gulped in disappointment because she had to search all over Clover Hill to find her father. But she was sure that she would find her father.
"Alright. Thank you so much for your time." Elsa nodded and smiled politely. Despite she didn't get the detail about her father's address, the mansion keeper was kind enough to tell her about this information and she would continue from there.
She then turned around and walked towards her car where Kai was waiting patiently. And without being asked, Kai automatically opened the back door for her.
"We're going to Clover Hill, Kai."
"Please, have a seat, Sir." That evening, Olina politely invited a guest in who made her hair stand on end. This man, whom she knew was named Agnarr Arendelle, frightened and intrigued her at the same time. Even so, she still had to serve him because he was her mistress' guest.
The guest put his hands in the pockets of his trousers and his leather jacket looked so shiny. He looked around the guest room with a look she couldn't quite decipher what kind of look it was. And she felt a chill run down her spine as the man looked at her straight in the eye.
"No, I'm good. I prefer to stand." Said the man, and then looked around again. His gaze stopped on the photo of Elsa when she had just graduated, which was hanging on the wall.
Olina gulped feeling uncomfortable. In her mind she wanted so badly to scream and call Marshal but she resisted the urge.
"Alright." Olina cleared her throat before finally continue. "What do you like to drink, Sir?"
The man turned away from Elsa's photo and looked back at Olina. "I don't want to drink." He said flatly.
Now, Olina didn't know what to say. She felt that it was better to call Iduna to accompany this guest while he waited for Elsa to come home.
"Alright, Sir. I'll go inside for a moment. And please, make your self feel comfortable." And Olina didn't wait too long to quickly get away from this strange guest and call Iduna.
So that Olina didn't know that after she left, the guest sighed softly and looked back at the photo of Elsa on the wall. And as if wanting to see clearly, he walked over still with both hands in his pockets and stopped right under the photo, staring intently at it.
Meanwhile in her room, Iduna stared blankly in the mirror in front of her. Since the mention of Agnarr Arendelle's name this morning, she couldn't think straight. Could it really be that Agnarr Arendelle? Her Agnarr Arendelle? Could someone have the same name as him? Then what is the purpose of this Agnarr wanting to meet her daughter? He couldn't possibly know who Elsa really was because she hadn't had the chance to tell him.
If he was really her Agnar Arendelle, what would she do? What would she say? Should she be happy with his presence? Or should she vent her disappointment at being left behind? She would never know until she met him face to face.
A soft knock on her door broke her from her thoughts. She looked up and Olina was already standing in the doorway, trying to get her attention.
"I'm sorry to disturb you, Ma'am."
"It's alright, Olina. Come on in." Iduna put the comb that she had been unconsciously holding all this time on her vanity table.
"There's a guest, Ma'am. That Agnarr Arendelle came back to see Miss Elsa. He is in the guest room now."
Olina's words made her hold her breath involuntarily, her heart beat erratically and for a moment she didn't know how to respond.
"Marshall was right. That man is such an oddity." Olina said, looking confused on how to describe her guest this time.
Iduna focused herself and looked back at Olina. "What do you mean by that?"
"I asked him to seat, he preferred to stand. I asked him what to drink, he said he didn't want to drink. I was so confused what to do or say, Ma'am." Olina said honestly, she fiddled with her fingers restlessly.
Iduna tried to smile to calm Olina down. "It's alright. I will meet him. Thank you, Olina."
And after Olina came out of her room, Iduna once again looked in the mirror and tried to calm her heartbeat. If indeed this guest was him, then so be it. Maybe it was the time for them to meet. But if it wasn't him, maybe this guest was like any other Elsa's guests.
Letting out a deep breath, Iduna made up her mind to go out and meet him.
When Iduna entered the guest room, she could see the guest standing with his back to her and looking at her daughter's photo on the wall. She watched him carefully and the guest's back felt familiar.
"Excuse me. Are you looking for Elsa Winters?" Iduna asked slowly. There was a part of her that felt that this man was him, but she didn't want to get her hopes up too much just yet.
"Didn't I say that earlier? Is it still not clear why I came here?" The guest replied in annoyance, still not taking his eyes off the photo on the wall.
Not only his back, his voice felt familiar too. Her heart that had calmed down was beating fast again because of the increasing possibility that this guest was him.
"I'm sorry." Iduna tried to control her slightly trembling voice. "I'm sorry, but may I know where are you from? Or if you don't mind, maybe you can sit down and have a cup of tea while waiting for Elsa?"
The guest let out a long sigh and looked down because he didn't seem to like too many long-winded questions. He seemed to be getting irritated.
"I already told-"
His words stopped in midair because as soon as he turned around, the two of them stared at each other in surprise. They both gasped and didn't know what to do. They didn't even seem to know how to breathe for a moment.
"A-agnarr?" It was Iduna who first broke the silence between them. She couldn't believe what she saw. Twenty-five years since the last time she saw him.
She began to feel her eyes burning with tears and her throat tightening from sobs.
As for Agnarr, after gradually recovering from his shock and being convinced of who he saw in front of him, his face softened. The dominant and mysterious impression he had been playing with was gone. His eyes started to tear up and step by step, he walked closer to Iduna. His lips trembled in a smile.
"Idun." He whispered.
Iduna's tears started to fall as she started to walk towards Agnarr. After they were only a foot away, the two of them just stared at each other for a few seconds and let their brains work and believe that the person in front of them was really the person they had been looking for.
They have found each other.
"Is it really you?" Iduna's hands moved to cup Agnarr's face but stopped halfway because she still couldn't believe that the day when she finally met him had come.
Agnarr couldn't stop his tears from falling. "Yes, this is me."
Iduna couldn't hold it anymore. She threw herself at Agnarr and hugged him so, so tightly. She burst into tears, venting the various emotions she had been suppressing for so long. She could feel Agnarr hugging her back, she could feel an intense longing, she could feel the warmth she knew so well.
But it didn't last long. As soon as Iduna felt completely aware that the man she was holding was really her Agnarr, another feeling began to emerge. Disappointment at being left behind, anger at having to face the cruelty of life alone.
Iduna's face changed drastically, and tried to pull away from the hug. "Get off me. Get off." She said as her body turned stiff and felt uncomfortable being hugged by Agnarr.
Iduna ignored Agnarr who looked at her confused and without warning, with all her might, she slapped Agnarr hard on the cheek. Agnarr didn't dodge though. He just looked at the woman in front of him understandingly. He felt that he deserved the slap.
"Where? Where have you been all this time?!" Iduna asked loudly, she let her tears flow even more. She had to find the answer to the question that haunted her all along why she had to be left behind.
Agnarr sighed softly and tried to grab Iduna's hand to calm her down. "I can explain, Idun. Please-"
Iduna broke free from Agnarr's grip and slapped him once more. "Where have you been, Agnarr?! You disappeared without a word and left me just like that!"
"Please, Idun. Listen to me, I can explain-"
"For years!" Iduna cut Agnarr off, causing him to immediately close his mouth to restrain himself. The woman in front of him was full of emotion and there was no point in him screaming too.
"For years, Agnarr. I've been looking for you for years. I've been waiting for you for years. I lived alone, I expected your presence. But you never existed!" Added Iduna between sobs. Agnarr could only cover his mouth with his fist and try to be patient until she was satisfied with venting her anger.
"Even for once, you never looked for me. I was, well, I am very disappointed in you. Did you know how much it hurts to be left behind just like that? You never looked for me. I mean nothing to you." Said Iduna again in a lower voice though with deep disappointment.
Agnarr could only stare at Iduna sadly and after waiting for a while and no more words coming out of Iduna's mouth, he felt it was his turn to speak.
"Believe me, Idun. I looked for you, I looked for you everywhere. But you knew what I did. I had to hide from my enemy." Agnarr explained gently. "I didn't want you to be a victim. If I met you, it was too risky. I didn't want anything bad happen to you."
Seeing no sign of Iduna going to interrupt him, Agnarr intended to continue. This time with an outpouring of emotion that had been suppressed for years.
"But don't you ever, say that I didn't look for you at that time. I did look for you, Idun. I looked for you for time to time. I came to your house! I came to your house so many times! But in the end I found out that you left the house! So don't you ever say that I didn't look for you. Because I still loved you, I still missed you." The two pairs of teary eyes stared at each other, trying to reassure each other and understand each other.
"And I still do." Agnarr added in a whisper, making Iduna looked at him without blinking and subconsciously nodded her head slowly. "I hurt before too, Idun. When I couldn't find you. We've been hurt before." He added.
Agnarr took a step forward and grabbed Iduna's hand and felt a little hope when Iduna didn't pull her hand back.
"I love you. I have been waiting for this meeting all along. You have to believe me, Idun. I really love you." Agnarr's hand moved to cup the face of the love of his life and looked straight in the eyes. "I, really, really love you, Idun. Don't you ever doubt that."
Seeing Iduna finally nodding her head because she understood and believed in his words, slowly and affectionately, he kissed Iduna's forehead with a deep outpouring of love. And once again, they were in each other's arms.
"Please forgive me." He whispered in her ears, savoring the moment when he could feel her in his arms once again. And he smiled in relief when he could feel Iduna nodding her head.
The two of them continued to hug and drift into the soothing silence, crying happy tears for a while, before Iduna finally broke the silence.
"Our daughter will surely be happy if she knows you are here." She said, smiling at the thought of how happy her daughter would be to know that she would be able to meet her father.
And Iduna's guess was right that Agnarr would be surprised about having a daughter with her because he looked taken aback by what she just said. It was seen from his body that turned stiff, he pulled away from the hug right away and then looked at her surprised and confused.
"Our daughter?" Agnarr asked as if he couldn't believe what he was hearing. He never knew about this.
"Yes." Said Iduna, her tears flowing again because she could finally tell her about their daughter. "Our daughter. She will be very happy if she knows you came here."
Agnarr still didn't seem too sure he heard correctly. "Our daughter? D-did you mean by that, that she is m-my daughter?" He wasn't sure if he should feel happy or something, but a pleasant warm feeling ran through his heart as the fact that he had a daughter together with Iduna began to enter his mind.
"Yes. She is your daughter. Ours."
"A-are you sure about that, Idun? I have a daughter?"
Iduna smiled and cupped Agnarr's face, rubbing his cheeks with both thumbs and then nodded her head. This made Agnarr finally unable to hold back tears of joy because he had absolutely no idea that all this time he had another daughter from Iduna.
"I have a daughter." He whispered, his lips trembling with sobs.
"Yes."
Now that Agnarr knew about his daughter, there was one thing he really wanted to do. He took a deep breath and looked around eagerly.
"Where is she? Where is she now? I want to meet her."
Iduna smiled in relief knowing that from what she saw, it seemed that Agnarr would be willing to accept their daughter's existence.
"The woman you are waiting for is our daughter. Elsa Winters."
"We really have to explore all over Clover Hill, Kai. We have no other clue other than my father's name." Said Elsa quietly from the passenger seat in the back. The look of exhaustion was evident on her face, but it was more because of the disappointment that finding her father was still far from what she hoped for. Of course she didn't expect to find her father right away, but it would be great if that was the case.
"Yes, Miss. But it takes more than three hours to get home from Clover Hill. We can go back to Clover hill tomorrow. And I know you're already tired, Miss. We'll try again tomorrow, okay?" Kai said soothingly, glancing through the rearview mirror.
"Yeah. My mother must be worried." Elsa then took her cellphone out, quickly sweeping the rows of miscalls and messages from Jack. She was still so angry with him that she didn't want to hear anything from him yet. And her brow furrowed as she realized there was no message from her mother. "This is weird. I texted her about an hour ago that I'm on my way home but she hasn't answered yet."
"Maybe Ms. Iduna is busy with dinner, Miss. Olina said that your mother loves cooking for you." Kai replied from the driver seat.
Elsa put down her phone and sighed softly. "Yeah, maybe she is. How much longer until we get home, Kai?"
"With this traffic, I think we'll be home in about half an hour, Miss. I can speed up a bit."
"E-elsa Winters?" Agnarr was shocked to hear that Elsa Winters was his daughter. His brain froze for a moment, unable to process this confusing and shocking news.
"That Elsa Winters is my daughter?" He pointed to Elsa's photo on the wall that he had been staring at.
If Agnarr was shocked, it was an understatement. When Iduna said that he had a daughter with her, he was shocked, but felt excited and happy. And in another circumstances, he would have been overjoyed to know that Elsa Winters was his daughter. But when he thought back on his reasons for seeing her, things got complicated.
"Yes. Elsa Winters is your daughter. Our daughter." Iduna explained. Her smile faded slightly as she saw Agnarr's drastic change in emotions.
"Wait, hold up." Agnarr raised his hands as if asking Iduna to stop talking. He rubbed his face trying to think straight even though it was something that hard to do now. "This is impossible. That Elsa Winters is my daughter?" He paced in front of Iduna even though his eyes were fixed on the photo of his daughter on the wall.
"Yes, Agnarr. Why do you-"
"That's impossible!" Agnarr raised his voice because he couldn't accept the fact that he had to hurt his own daughter and Iduna, the love of his life, because of Manny's revenge.
"What do you mean by impossible?" Iduna asked confusedly, there was a hint of disappointment in her words. "I'm not lying, Agnarr. She is your daughter. Elsa is our daughter. I'm not lying to you." She began to feel that maybe what was expected was not in line with the fact that Agnarr would accept Elsa as his daughter just like that.
"Why didn't you tell me you were pregnant, Idun? Huh? Why didn't you tell me that we have a daughter?!" Agnarr was yelling now. The task that he thought was a simple task, it turned out to be complicated like this.
"I didn't have time to tell you that time because you had already disappeared. I wanted to meet you to tell everything but I couldn't find you anywhere." Iduna's tears were flowing again. "I did't know what to do and I was so confused, Agnarr. My father was furious at that time. He asked me to abort the baby but I refused until he finally kicked me out of the house."
Iduna paused for a moment to give her sobs a chance which was trying to bring her emotions out while Agnarr looked confused, angry, sad and guilt-ridden at the same time. Neither of them expected that their meeting for the first time in twenty-five years would have to be like this.
"Do you know where she is now?" Iduna looked up and glared at Agnarr because she thought that he didn't want to accept Elsa as his daughter. "She is looking for you because she wants this family to be complete with your presence, Agnarr. She really wants to meet you."
"No, Idun. No." Agnarr ran a hand through his hair in frustration. "She must not know, she must not know that I am her father."
"Why?!" Iduna couldn't understand why Agnarr asked Elsa not to know that he was her father.
"She must not know that I am her father!" Agnarr repeated with more emotion.
"Don't you want to see our daughter happy, Agnarr?"
"Of course I do. I really do but-"
"Then what?!"
"Don't get me wrong, Idun. I am happy that she is my daughter, but-"
"But why? Tell me the reason."
Again, Agnarr was pacing and his hand was stroking his hair restlessly as he was deep in thought. "She can't know that I'm her father." He muttered more to himself until he finally stopped and looked at Iduna seriously. "Okay. Listen to me, Idun. I have to go now."
"What? Agnarr?" Iduna suddenly stopped crying and was bewildered by Agnarr's behavior. She knew she had not seen him for a long time but still she felt strange seeing him behave like this.
"I have to go now."
"But Elsa-"
"Listen to me. Elsa must not know that I came here. And Elsa must not know that I am her father. Okay?" Agnarr was so serious that Iduna didn't know what else to say. "Promise me, Idun. Y-you have to promise me that, okay?"
"But Agnarr-"
Agnarr cupped Iduna's face and looked at her right in the eyes. "Promise me, Idun." And even though he didn't get a nod or an answer from Iduna, he felt like he had to get out of there right now. He had to think of another plan. "Okay. I'm leaving."
With that, Agnarr withdrew his hands and walked out of the room. Iduna felt compelled to know more about what Agnarr was thinking, immediately following behind.
"Agnarr! Agnarr, wait!" Iduna kept calling until finally Agnarr stopped after he opened the front door and stood on the porch.
"Iduna, listen to me. You have to trust me. I will solve all these problems, I will make this right. Okay? I love you. And our daughter too." Agnarr was just about to hug Iduna and give her a quick kiss on the forehead when he heard a car honk from outside the gate.
Agnarr and Iduna froze at that very moment, wondering who was coming. Iduna glanced at the gate that was being opened by Marshall and felt a little panicked when she saw a familiar car starting to enter the drive way.
"That's Elsa. That is Elsa, Agnarr. She's home."
