"Anna Arendelle? I don't remember about her." Elsa thought trying to remember but she couldn't remember who this Anna Arendelle was.
"She was a doctor's assistant who treated Gerda when Gerda had an accident. Remember?" Jack paused to give Elsa time to think. "I met her for the first time when I bought coffees and she gave her hot chocolate for you." He tried to remind Elsa of when they first met this doctor's assistant.
"And then when you passed out? She treated you. She talked to me and introduced herself after that. I do remember that she mentioned her name was Anna Arendelle." Jack continued, excited because he thought he had found a clue. "Remember something?"
Elsa tried to remember those days and she remembered a little about this doctor assistant. Blue-green eyes, strawberry blonde hair in a ponytail, her cheerful demeanor, even when she said that her mother was... dead.
"Yeah. I think I remember about her." Elsa said slowly. She was still trying to gather her memory about the girl.
"And, she gave her blood to you." Said Jack triumphantly because he remembered this Anna Arendelle so well.
"What? What blood?" Elsa was shocked and confused. She just heard about it now. She knew nothing about this giving of blood.
"No one telling you about this?" Jack asked who was also confused.
"No? You didn't tell me either, Jack." Said Elsa even more confused. She only remembered that after she woke up she met her mother, felt better after that, went home and Jack proposed to her. She thought that people were too busy with all of that so no one had time to tell her about it.
"Really?"
"Yeah. I didn't know about this at all until you said it now."
Jack seemed to think about something. He looked down, reminiscing the memories when he thought he was going to lose the love of his life. "I was too scared to lose you and all I thought about was how I could propose to you."
"You're telling me now, Jack. It's alright." Elsa stroked her fiancé's cheek and made him look up at her. "Now will you tell me why she gave her blood to me?"
"I don't know why exactly, Elsa. When I got to the hospital, you were already having the surgery. And after that I went to the police station to report Manny. When I came back, you had your surgery done and they said this Arendelle donated her blood to you." Jack explained.
It was a day he would never forget, but it was also a day he would never be able to really remember the details because everything happened so fast and the various emotions involved made it feel like he was living a dream.
As for Elsa, she fell in silence. When she wanted so badly to forget about that incident, now she had to remember it again. But something hit her when she found out that someone was willing to give a little bit of them self in order to save her life. Even though they didn't know each other well.
"Jack?" Elsa called out while she was still staring blankly at the backyard.
"Yeah?"
Slowly her eyes turned to Jack. "When you mentioned Anna Arendelle's name, I immediately think that maybe she is related to my father. But when you said that she donated her blood to me, I felt like I have a moral responsibility to thank her. I have to meet her and thank her. And, if in the end she did have a family relationship with my father, that would be a stroke of luck. Maybe she can help me to find my father."
Jack thought that this might be a good idea, because he himself hadn't even had the chance to meet this resident to thank her ever since he came back from Northville. And if Elsa wanted to meet her, he'd be happy to accompany her.
"Alright. I'll take you to the hospital to meet her." Jack smiled when he saw Elsa smiling. He then put his arm around Elsa's shoulders and pulled her closer. "But, not tonight. We still have to cuddle before your mother calls you for dinner. I missed you so, so much you know."
Elsa just giggled and did nothing when Jack showered her with kisses. She didn't mind enjoying the moment for now and putting all her troubles aside for tomorrow. Actually, she missed Jack too. But sometimes, her ego got too high and her stubbornness didn't help either.
"Elsa. That is dr. Hunt." Jack tapped Elsa's shoulder lightly as the two of them were sitting in the waiting room when he saw dr. Hunt out the OT's front door.
Jack remembered that Anna Arendelle was dr. Hunt's assistant so the first thing he did was to go to the information desk and ask where he could find dr. Hunt. But his brows furrowed deeply when he saw that it was not Anna Arendelle following her, but a male resident with curly hair and glasses in a tall, thin build.
While Elsa, she had to hurriedly tidy up some of the paperwork she was reading because she couldn't use the waiting time just by waiting. She had works to get done. She then put the paperwork on the chair next to her and took Jack's hand, which was waiting to help her up.
"Dr. Hunt!" Jack called out while he quickened his pace because even with high heels, dr. Hunt was like walking on a catwalk, fast but confident. Elsa next to him tried to match his wide stride because she was a little unprepared, just a moment ago she was so immersed in her work so she failed to notice her surrounding.
And like having super brakes, dr. Hunt stopped and turned around right then and there.
"Yes?" She asked, looking confused because she felt she had no appointments with two people she couldn't remember who they were, who had now stopped in front of her, panting slightly. "May I help you?" She asked.
"I'm sorry for disturbing you, dr. Hunt. I'm Jack and she is-"
"Elsa Winters. I remember you now." Dr. Hunt said, pointing at Elsa with her finger after she managed to remember who the woman in front of her was. "I'm glad to see you're in good shape now." She smiled, shoving her hands into her white jacket's pockets.
"Thanks to you, dr. Hunt. And dr. Murphy too." Said Elsa, also smiling.
"Okay. So, may I help you?" dr. Hunt asked looking at Elsa and Jack alternately because she was a bit in a hurry.
"Yes, actually we are here to see your assistant dr. Arendelle. But I guess she is not with you now." It was Jack who answered first. He looked at the young doctor who stood behind dr. Hunt and smiled politely.
"Arendelle?"
"Yes, doc. I just found out that dr. Arendelle donated her blood to me when I was having the surgery. I want to meet her and thank her." Elsa explained the main purpose of her looking for Anna Arendelle because she really wanted to thank her, which she should have done a long time ago, if only she had known earlier.
"Arendelle is no longer with me."
What just dr. hunt said made Elsa's face fall. She really wanted to see Anna Arendelle as soon as possible.
"But she is still under my supervision. I've sent her to dr. Robinson in pediatric surgery. You can find her in the pediatric unit, east building on the 15th floor." She said, bringing Elsa's hopes back.
And about fifteen minutes later, Elsa and Jack were in the elevator to the 15th floor, where Anna Arendelle was believed to be. The whole time Jack was holding Elsa's hand and the other hand was carrying the paperwork that Elsa couldn't leave in the car. He squeezed Elsa's hand for comfort when he noticed that Elsa's hand felt colder with time.
"Are you nervous?" Jack asked leaning forward, there was a hint of worry in his words.
Elsa looked up and from her eyes, it was obvious that she was nervous. "I don't know why I feel so nervous, Jack. Thanking her is an easy thing. But what if she does have a family relationship with my father? What if she is my father's daughter, which means that my father has already started a family with someone else? And what if my presence ruin their family?"
Jack felt bad seeing his fiancé look so nervous and doubtful. He had to admit that now that Elsa said it, it was possible that her father already had a family out there. However, they still didn't know for sure, they still had to find out.
"We don't know about that yet, Elsa. Let's hope for the best, okay?" Jack said as the elevator chimed and a second later, the elevator doors opened and revealed a nurse who was talking to a young doctor with strawberry blonde hair.
Jack and Elsa were too stunned to react. The nurse and the young doctor who for some reason burst out laughing stepped into the elevator, and being engrossed in their conversation, they both failed to notice Jack and Elsa who were now standing behind them.
"She said, 'I need to cut somebody open, dr. Robinson. You have to let me cut because I'm standing here, eyebrowless, with no dignity left!'" The young doctor imitated someone voice and then burst out laughing again. "Oh my God. I felt bad for her that she lost her eyebrows but it was too funny that I couldn't stop laughing."
"Yeah, I saw how confused dr. Robinson at that time. But it's a good thing that her wedding day went smoothly and somehow she was able to get her eyebrows back." The two laughed again until the young doctor realized something.
"Why are we not going anywhere?" She looked at the control panel and realized that neither of them had pressed the button for the destination floor.
"Ah, no wonder." She then pressed the button number 2. "Where are you going, Linda? LG?"
"Yes, please. Thank you." The nurse answered.
"And what about you, Sir?" The young doctor turned around sensing someone's presence behind her only to be surprised after realising who had been behind her all this time. "Hey, I know you. Jack, right? And this is must be Elsa Winters." The young doctor pointed at Jack and Elsa in turn. She looked happy to meet them.
"Hi, dr. Arendelle." Jack greeted, holding out his hand to shake. And Elsa followed suit.
"Hi! How are you guys? I'm so glad to meet the both of you. And you Miss Winters, the last time I saw you, you were still unconscious. And now you're standing here in front of me. I'm happy that you're okay now. What are you doing here?" Anna said quickly without giving Jack and Elsa a chance to answer her questions.
"We are fine, thank you. And we are here because we wanted to meet you." Said Jack, feeling lucky that they could immediately meet the person they were looking for without any hassle.
"Me?" Anna pointed to herself and since she had reached her destination floor and the elevator door was already open, she got out of the elevator and held the door with her hand. "I'll have lunch. Come on, we can have it together."
Jack and Elsa looked at each other and then agreed to Anna's suggestion, considering their intention was to talk to her and that could be done comfortably over lunch.
Elsa was constantly watching Anna's behaviour as she walked, entered a small restaurant within the hospital building, ordered straight into the kitchen, and invited her and Jack to sit in her favourite spot. Anna's cheerful behaviour made her smile.
"I hope you guys don't mind because I've ordered three of the best sandwiches in this city. It's so delicious that I always eat it for lunch." Said Anna, tapping the table with her fingers excitedly. She was very much ready for lunch. "Okay, so. Why do you guys want to meet me?"
Jack cleared his throat and smiled, and then looked at Elsa. "Elsa?"
Elsa nodded and rubbed her hands together which were still cold and then put them on the table. "I came here because I want to properly introduce myself to you and also-"
"Oh my God!" Anna suddenly leaned forward and grabbed Elsa's ringed finger. "Are you two engaged?! You two have no idea how happy I am now. Really. You guys are perfect for each other. I knew it." She looked genuinely happy. "Sorry, where were we? You wanted to introduce yourself and?"
To be honest Elsa was a little confused as well as stunned because the young woman in front of her could speak quickly and change the subject quickly as well. She was the complete opposite of herself.
Elsa turned to look at Jack and when Jack nodded to encourage her, she turned her gaze back to Anna. "I want to thank you because you donated your blood to me. You saved my life that day. And I think that a simple thank you won't be enough. I don't know how to repay you, dr. Arendelle."
Anna just chuckled and waved her hand like it was nothing. "Don't mention it, Miss Winters. I'm super glad that you are fine now. And don't call me that. Just call me Anna. My blood runs through your body, so practically we are sisters now. Right?"
Anna's words hit Elsa. Sister. She then remembered the other purpose of meeting her. Previously she was worried that Anna was related to her father, but now, somehow she hoped that she was related to her father. "Your parents must be proud of you. You have such a kind heart, dr. Aren-I mean Anna."
Anna curled her lips and shrugged, while Jack let the two women talk to each other and be an avid listener. "I hope so. Too bad my mother couldn't live long enough to see me until now. But I think I can still make my father proud. I promised him that one day I would be a successful surgeon with a kind heart." She grinned widely after a moment of sadness overcame her.
"You will definitely be." Elsa said sincerely. Now that Anna had mentioned about her father, curiosity rose within her. "Do you live with your father?" She asked. Jack next to her glanced at her, as a fellow lawyer, he knew where this question was headed.
"No. My house is too far from here. I rent a flat about five minutes away and my father lives in the suburbs. Clover Hill."
Elsa's heart missed a beat knowing that there was a chance that Anna was really related to her father. "Oh. Is he a doctor too?"
"Yes. He is." Anna answered lightly, giggling afterward. "He is a doctor for his flowers. He is a florist actually."
Elsa's heart almost sank into her stomach when Anna mentioned that her father was a doctor but in the end she laughed dryly hearing that it was just a joke. The same thing happened to Jack. Now she was increasingly convinced that Agnarr Arendelle was indeed related to this Anna Arendelle. He was her father.
And they had to stop talking for a while because their food came. Anna rubbed her hands excitedly and her eyes were glued to the tantalizing-looking sandwich in front of her. She was just about to take a bite of her sandwich when she saw Elsa open her sandwich and remove the tomato slices from it. Her brow furrowed in confusion and she had to put down her sandwich.
"What are you doing?" Anna asked. She glanced at Jack who just smiled and shook his head slowly.
"She's not a fan of tomatoes." Said Jack, picking up his sandwich and taking a bite.
"You don't like tomatoes?"
"No." Elsa answered shortly, shuddering after that. "I don't like the texture when I chew it."
Anna gave a short laugh and picked up her fork, leaning forward. "It's a shame to have to waste it because it's so nutritious and delicious. May I?" She smiled at Elsa, preparing to pick up the tomato slices with her fork.
The young woman in front of her constantly surprised her with her personality. They had only just known each other but she was very easy to get along with and it made Elsa smile.
"Sure. Go ahead." Elsa pushed her plate and let Anna pick up the tomato slices. She just kept staring on her as they ate their food. And somehow, she imagined what if this Anna was really her sister? But she said that her mother was dead? So it's just her and her father? Or does she have other siblings?
"Do you have any other siblings?" Elsa asked, ignoring the surprised look that Jack gave her.
"No. It's just me." Anna wiped her lips with a tissue because apparently, she was done with her sandwich. She then took a big gulp of water and stared at Elsa. "My dad didn't really love my mom. My mom said that the only reason why she got pregnant with me, it was because dad was drunk at that time."
Elsa stopped chewing in an instant. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to-"
"It's alright." Anna cut Elsa off, laughing. She then pushed her empty plate away and folded her arms on the table. "This is an open secret. I've told anyone about this. Even the janitor here, he knows about this. I can't keep my mouth shut, you know? If I'm bored, I'll talk. About anything. So, don't say sorry for this."
Elsa couldn't help but smile and nod. She put down her knife and fork because for some reason she felt full. She wanted to talk further with Anna and get more information about her father.
"Was it okay for you to know that your father didn't really love your mother?"
Anna smiled at the question. "When my mother Melissa got sick, and she seemed to know that she didn't have much time left, she told me everything. She and my father got married because they were arranged. My father was not a good person before. He was forced to marry my mother because his father said so. But my mother said that my father changed drastically when he found out that my mother was pregnant with me, he became more loving and caring. But not romantically. He could never love my mother, as a lover."
"Why?" Elsa asked subconsciously.
"Because, my father only loves one woman in his life. She is his friend, his girlfriend, his soul mate, the love of his life who had to be separated for some reasons that I don't know. He still couldn't meet her until now."
It's mom, Elsa thought.
"My mother always reminded me not to hate my father because of that. Because love can't be forced. It was already a good thing that my father turned into a good man. And even though he didn't love my mother, he took care of my mother until her last time. And he's still my dad no matter what." Anna ended her explanation with a big smile plastered on her face.
Now Elsa become even more curious. "What if one day your father finds this woman he loves?"
"I would be very happy to meet her." Anna answered without hesitation, making Elsa to frown. And Anna seemed to notice that. "I would be very happy if my father got to meet her because he had been waiting to see her for years and I can imagine my father would be very happy if he could meet her. And that, will definitely make me happy."
Elsa thought, how could she doesn't have the slightest hatred for a woman who had made her father never able to love her mother? Her kindness was off the charts.
"You have a very kind heart, Anna." Elsa said sincerely, there was a hint of admiration in her words. If she had been in Anna's shoes, she would have stubbornly demanded an explanation of all this and why her father couldn't love her mother.
"Why did you gave your blood to me, Anna?" The question suddenly crossed her mind and she just asked it without thinking.
"Well, maybe because you needed it?"
"But you didn't know me before?"
But Anna just laughed. "Miss Winters, or can I call you Elsa?"
Elsa smiled and then nodded. "Yes, you can."
"Okay. When we do good, it doesn't have to be to people we know, Elsa. If someone needs our help and we happen to have the ability to help, then help. Doing good has no frontiers. It's that simple." Anna paused and her face turned serious when her cell phone on the table vibrated. "Uh-oh, dr. Robinson is calling me. Hang on."
And after Elsa and Jack nodded, Anna picked up the call. "Yes, dr. Robinson? Yes, okay, okay. I'll be right there in a minute." She the put her phone in her white coat pocket and looked at Elsa and Jack apologetically. "I'm sorry but I have to go. It's really nice to talk to you guys."
"It's alright. Thank you for your time and for all you did to me." Elsa said, she really meant that. "And this lunch is on me. You just go and save someone's life."
"Really?" Anna then stood up and hugged Elsa without warning when Elsa nodded her head, making Elsa shocked and unable to do anything. "Thank you! Bye, sister!"
Elsa then stood up and watched Anna run away in an extreme speed. She could feel Jack standing up as well and rubbing her back slowly. There was a warm feeling that ran through her at this moment. "Jack?"
"She is your sister, I know."
"No, no, no. Agnarr, No! I don't want you to postpone my revenge! My hope of getting out of this prison is already very slim! I want you to avenge me right now!" Manny was fuming, when Agnarr came to see him and said that he would postpone the plans for revenge, and said that he would try to get him out of prison instead of taking revenge. He couldn't even sit still and pace in annoyance.
"Manny, calm down." Agnarr tried to be as calm as possible because he couldn't tell the real reason why he didn't want to hurt Elsa and Iduna. "Come on. Sit down and let's talk about this." He gestured for Manny to sit down.
"Listen to me." Agnarr began as Manny sat down on his chair. "There are still many ways for you to get out of this place. And you don't have to rush."
"NO!" Manny cut in. His face was red from anger. "You, listen to me! You don't have to think about that! Legal matters are my lawyer's business! Not you! What you have to do now is how to make that crazy lawyer and her stupid mother suffer! Like how I feel now!"
Something stung his heart when he heard Manny talk like that about his daughter and Iduna so that he was speechless. He gritted his teeth and his hand clenched into fist.
"I could have sent someone else to kill them, but I just want you to do this. You promised me, Agnarr. And you can't break your promise." Manny continued in a lower but more dangerous voice. "And if you break your promise, I can't guarantee your safety either."
Iduna was walking towards the front door because she thought that she heard the sound of a car coming when the phone rang. She hesitated for a moment but she finally chose to pick up the phone first.
"Hello." She greeted. She waited for a while but no one answered. She was about to put the receiver down when she heard her name being called.
"Idun."
"Agnarr?" It was obvious that it was Agnarr. She knew his voice very well and only Agnarr called her that.
"I've tried talking to Manny to postpone his revenge plan."
A chill ran down her back when Iduna heard that name. "And?"
"And he said no."
Iduna swallowed hard because she understood what it meant and what she feared might happen sooner or later. She really hoped that Agnarr would break his promise to that evil man and choose to keep his daughter safe.
"And what did you say, A-"
"Mom?"
Suddenly her daughter was in the living room and was looking at her curiously. Her mind was scattered and she didn't know what to say.
"A-Andy, yes. Andy." Iduna tried to smile and act normal. "See you next time. Bye."
"Who is Andy?" Elsa asked and walked over to her mother, hugging her tightly. Her meeting with Anna excited her but she still couldn't say anything because everything was still uncertain. But she was sure that her mother would be very happy if she knew that she was getting closer to the possibility of meeting her father.
Choosing to ignore her daughter's question, Iduna hugged Elsa back and felt something different. She wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not.
"Are you okay? You look tired." Iduna asked after she pulled away from the hug. She cupped her daughter face and examined it.
"Yes, I'm tired. I had a lot of work today."
Iduna smiled in relief because maybe her daughter was just tired from work. "It's alright. Let's have dinner and then you can rest. Clean up your self first, Sweetheart."
"Okay." Elsa started walking and Iduna walked beside her. "Who was that Andy, Mom?" She asked again when she remembered that her mother had not answered her question.
"Oh. That Andy is, is my old friend."
"Old friend? The one who came here the other day?"
Iduna didn't know what to do so she chose to just go with the flow. "Yeah, him."
"Oh. Don't you want to introduce him to me?"
"One day, Sweetheart. One day I'll introduce him to you."
