Next Day
Morning
S.T.A.R. Labs
Barry was in the middle of the Speed Lab, inside the Speed Tube, Wally was running as fast as he could, pushing and pushing his limit. Initially, Barry didn't plan on simply monitoring Wally's speed but with his relationships with both Cisco and Caitlin deteriorating, if they already hadn't, Barry was the only person to monitor Wally's speed. Immediately, Barry felt his heart clench at the thought of both Cisco and Caitlin. His two best friends were now two other people angry at him for the action he had took by creating Flashpoint. Team Flash was losing it's spark. Barry then heard Caitlin's words ringing through his head.
"You would've known if you even cared in the first place."
Those words struck Barry harder and more painful than the lightning bolt that gave him his speed. If Barry could take it back, he would but what could he do? Barry wished that it was all over, part of him was seriously beginning to consider leaving Team Flash maybe even leaving Earth 1 entirely. After all, what reason did he have to not leave in the first place? What was stopping him? Who would miss him? Barry was so lost in thought that he didn't notice Wally until the rookie speedster sped out of the Speed Tube and right in front of Barry.
"How'd I do?" Wally asked eagerly, causing Barry to snap back to reality.
"Great, you're doing awesome." Barry replied. "Soon, we'll have to train you to throw lightning, create wind vortex with your arms and phasing. Not necessarily in that order but still."
"Can't wait." Wally said eagerly as Barry smiled. Wally often reminded Barry of what he was like when he first got his powers.
"Wally, I want to talk to you, if you don't mind." Barry said.
"Okay, no problem." Wally replied. "I'm not in trouble or anything."
"No, not at all." Barry chuckled as Wally let out a short laugh. "I want to talk to you about being out on the field. And I don't mean as a sidekick, I mean as a leader, the leader of Team Flash to be more specific."
"Oh, wow." Wally gasped, sounding shocked. "I, uh, did not see that coming. At all."
"I know it's a bit extreme." Barry admitted.
"No, Barry, it's not that." Wally said. "It's just, uh, it's... Look man, me being me, I would jump at the chance to be leader of Team Flash but I am not leader material. If I tried to be leader of the team, I'd be putting them at risk."
"I get what you mean." Barry said. "But Wally, what you need to know is that, being a leader is more than being tough or being able to make decisions for the team. It matters whether or not you have the support of all the members of your team. Right now, that's something you have more than I do."
"Yeah. Still find it hard to believe that even Caitlin's giving you the cold shoulder." Wally said before lightly laughing. However, his laughter died down when he noticed Barry's guilty look. "Sorry, no pun intended."
"No, it's fine." Barry assured. "But, you get what I'm trying to say, right?"
"Yeah, I got it." Wally replied.
"Good, now, let's go check on the rest of the team." Barry suggested.
"Yeah, we should do that." Wally agreed.
Barry patted Wally on the back before he and Wally walked out of the Speed Lab together, Barry smiled at Wally. He was like the younger brother he never had, literally even. Wally did have some points about being a little inexperienced and not being ready to lead but with everything going haywire, it was only a matter of time before Barry's leadership and position as leader was called into question. Should that come (and it was looking even more likely hour by hour), Barry had to have someone prepared and Wally seemed like the best lead, for now. Barry and Wally continued walking down the halls of S.T.A.R. Labs before stopping at the cortex, where H.R., Iris, Joe, Caitlin and Cisco were. The two speedsters entered the cortex.
"Any Metahumans on the loose?" Barry asked.
"No, satellite's not picking any new dark matter signatures. As of now, that is." Cisco replied.
"Good." Barry said.
"I think we should all probably address the elephant in the room." H.R. suggested, referring to Flashpoint.
"What's happening because of Flashpoint is clearly Barry's fault." Cisco blurted out. "What else do we have to say about it."
"Don't you dare." Joe warned, stepping forward, his fatherly tone taking it's place.
"He made a selfish decision." Caitlin pointed out.
"And we dealt with the fallout." Cisco added.
"Guys, Barry lost his Dad, have some sympathy for him." Wally pointed out.
"Does it really matter?" Cisco asked as Barry looked like he had been shot in the heart by his own mother. "He still screwed with time."
"That's enough, Cisco!" Joe snapped. "I'm sorry about Dante, I truly am but blaming Barry won't do anything for you. So just cut it."
"Joe, he still created Flashpoint." Caitlin said.
"And he was still selfish." Cisco added.
"He wanted to end his pain, he was suffering." Iris said, defending Barry. "He wanted closure and he tried to get it."
"Without having regard for others!" Cisco yelled out.
"How was he supposed to know this would happen!?" Iris yelled back.
"Guys, let's calm down." H.R. said, trying to calm the tension.
"Barry had no care for others, it still stands." Caitlin pointed out.
"You. Need to stop." Joe said, walking towards Caitlin.
"Or what? You gonna shoot me?" Caitlin said, her tone was partially icy despite the fact she was wearing meta-cuffs.
"Don't tempt me, Snow." Joe spat.
"That's enough." Barry said but unfortunately, he was ignored.
"He did what he did and we payed for the consequences." Caitlin pointed out.
"This is his fault!" Cisco yelled.
"Cisco!" Iris yelled back.
"It was his fault and you damn well know it!" Cisco yelled, causing Barry to lose his cool.
"I SAID ENOUGH!" Barry yelled, slamming his fist on the glass counter of the main table, causing it to break.
Everyone looked at Barry with shock as the speedster's eyes glowed with orange lightning. Suddenly, orange and white lightning was surging through Barry's arm. Barry looked down at it in shock before the lightning finally stopped as Barry looked around in guilt.
"I'm sorry." Barry whispered. "I need a moment."
Barry turned around as he left the cortex and walked down the halls of S.T.A.R. Labs to an unknown place. Iris tried to go after him but Joe put his hand on Iris' shoulder as his daughter turned to face him.
"Dad, he needs me." Iris said.
"No, baby girl." Joe replied, much to Iris' shock. "He needs to be alone, for now."
In the halls of S.T.A.R. Labs, Barry continued walking angrily as he stopped at the work room. He walked inside the room as he immediately placed his hands on the edge of a table, leaning against it. Barry then got to his feet as his anger burst, he struck his arm down on the side of the table before wiping it across, causing all the devices, materials and parts to fall off. But that wasn't enough, Barry then kicked a small, wheeled table as it fell of it's legs and onto the floor. Barry was angry, pissed off, he couldn't take it anymore. The fallout from Flashpoint, all the damages it caused, to him, to the ones he loved and yet Barry went on, practically unpunished. Why? Why wasn't he punished for his crime? As far as Barry was concerned, he was just as much of a criminal as the Metahumans in Iron Heights.
Then, from the corner of his eye, Barry spotted a dark-haired, elderly man, walking inside and leaning on the side of the door-shaped entrance.
"You done yet? Or not?" the man asked.
Barry turned to see the standing figure of Harry Wells, not H.R., he knew the difference. In the past, Barry would've greeted Harry, asked him why he was here, how he was, how Jesse was or something like that. Right now, however, he was too angry to care as different words fell from his mouth.
"No." Barry muttered before changing his answer after a few moments passed. "Yes, I'm good."
"Okay then." Harry said, walking into the room before raising his hands in the air in a fake 'surrender' position. "Don't throw anything at me."
Barry let out a fake laugh.
"What do you need, Harry?" Barry asked.
"Are you okay?" Harry asked, dismissing Barry's question.
"Fine." Barry lied.
"No, you're not." Harry said. "And not only is it because you still look pissed or because this entire place is trashed or because I overheard the entire argument from the cortex. It's because, I've noticed how you've been the past few weeks and let me tell you, you're not fine."
"No, I'm not." Barry confessed, sighing deeply. "Honestly, Harry, I get it, that Cisco and Caitlin hate me for Flashpoint. I really do and I don't blame them for being angry, but I can't help but feel...angry at the same time. I don't know what I'm angry at, I don't know if it's at them, if it's at Flashpoint, myself. I don't know. There's this darkness in me, Harry. This rage, the feeling of anger and the truth is, I like it. I like the rage, the feeling of anger, just, wrecking and punching things to a pulp. I honestly don't know how I hold it back these days. It's like...deep down, I'm not a good person. Not anymore."
"Allen, that may be true." Harry admitted. "Maybe deep down, you aren't a good person. But on the surface, you are. Don't let your rage control you, you control it. Use it, let it drive you. Tune into something else. Something you want to do, but first, figure out how to use that rage."
"How?" Barry asked.
"Well, only you can know that, don't ya think?" Harry asked. "And by the way, you're on cleanup duty."
"Right." Barry realized.
Harry turned around and left the cortex as Barry thought to himself, Harry's words ringing through his head.
"Don't let your rage control you, you control it."
"Let it drive you."
"Tune it into something else."
"Figure out how to use that rage."
"Only you can know that."
Then, it came to Barry, he knew what to do. It did seem unexpected but it was best for Barry and the team, at least in his mind. Barry looked around the mess in the room as he sped around it with super speed in flashes of orange lightning. Eventually, the room was back to normal, or at least as normal as it could be before Barry wrecked it. Barry then left the room as he walked down the halls of S.T.A.R. Labs. He continued walking until he stopped in the cortex where he saw Harry and Jesse talking with the rest of the team. However, the conversation was cut short as they all noticed Barry.
"Please tell me you're not planning on wrecking anymore stuff." Cisco blurted out.
"Cisco, just, shut up. One more word and I'll blast you with a meta-dampening gun." Iris sighed. "Just, shut up."
"Iris, it's okay." Barry said. "The truth is I've had it. I've had enough. I'm going."
"You'd leave us?" Cisco said in disbelief before scoffing. "Of course, classic Barry Allen. Running from your problems."
At that point, Iris sighed before punching Cisco in the face, breaking the young engineer's nose. Cisco stumbled off his chair as he fell onto the ground, his nose bleeding. Harry and Jesse helped Cisco onto his feet as Barry stood between Cisco and Iris to prevent further tension.
"Iris, please calm down." Barry said as Iris conceded before stepping back as Barry turned to face Cisco. "Cisco, I've been apologizing over and over again for Dante but it clearly isn't helping. I don't blame you for being angry, you have every right but I've had enough. I can't take it anymore."
Barry then turned to face Caitlin, who was silent. "Caitlin, I know that you're beyond pissed at me for Flashpoint. You have every right to be angry but I can't...I just can't."
"Barry, don't go." Iris pleaded. "You have me, Dad, Wally. We still believe in you."
"But it's not enough." Jesse realized.
"You need everyone's support and you don't have it." Wally added as Barry nodded.
"Jesse, Wally, you two are in charge until I return." Barry said. "Please don't follow me, any of you. I'm leaving my suit here, I won't be taking it."
"Son, where're you going?" Joe asked, concerned like how any father would've been.
"I don't know yet." Barry replied honestly. "Goodbye guys."
Barry left his phone on the counter, to prevent being tracked before speeding out of the cortex in a flash of orange lightning. Just like that, Barry was gone. The team looked in shock as Cisco stared in disbelief. What had he done?
S.T.A.R. City
Arrowcave
Oliver was in the Arrowcave, or rather The Bunker as he preferred to call it, when suddenly a flash of orange lightning circled him before Barry Allen appeared in front of him.
"Hey Ollie." Barry said sheepishly.
"Barry, what're you doing here?" Oliver asked.
"I need your help." Barry said.
"With what?" Oliver wondered.
"Long story short..." Barry said. "...I want you to teach me how to fight."
Oliver laughed until he realized Barry wasn't joking. "You're serious?"
"I want to learn from the best." Barry said determinedly.
"Well, if you're serious, you can't learn from just me." Oliver pointed out. "We'd have to travel."
"Where to?" Barry asked curiously.
"Nanda Parbat." Oliver replied. "You'll have to train with Nyssa Al Ghul."
A/N: I'll end that chapter. I know that a lot isn't happening in the past couple chapters but don't worry the action is coming. As I said earlier, I will have Barry go to the MCU (willingly) in a later chapter. I'm dividing this story into three Graphic Novels: 1: Barry struggling with the problems of Flashpoint, training to fight and leaving the MCU. 2: the events of Age of Ultron from Barry's point of view. 3: Barry helping out the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. during season 3 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Anyways, that's it for now, I'll see you in the next chapter and please leave a review, telling me what you think of this story so far.
