Hi everyone, this is my first Naruto fic, I hope you will like it, I don't know when I will have time to write the next chapters because I am working during the day and I write when I have a bit of free time when I get home at night.
ATTENTION: English is not my first language so there may be some mistakes.
This fic will be very different from the original series, if you do not like that, please do not read it.

Chapter 1: Introduction
If you asked the inhabitants of the Elemental Nations what they thought of Konoha, they would surely tell you that they are tree huggers, war-shy, or even cowards, and while they were all but cowards, well at least the shinobis, it is true that the people of Konoha is more of a peaceful people.
Of course there are always exceptions.
"Get him!"
"We will make you pay you brat!"
"If I catch you I'm gonna skin you!"
People on the road made place for the blonde blur that was chased by three grown men, of course everyone recognised the blonde blur as Naruto Uzumaki, 5 years old, and the pariah of the Leaf.
"Just leave me alone! I didn't do nothing!" yelled Naruto while running
"Stop acting innocent you demon!" one of the men yelled back
Naruto, fortunately knew Konoha like his pocked, used to running away from people he knew all kinds of shortcuts, the youngster turned sharply into an alley the jumped a fence and continued to run as if the devil himself was behind him.
Looking behind him Naruto noticed that his followers were no longer here, seeing this he was truly relieved, he had escaped yet another beating, this was an occurrence that happened almost weekly, Naruto would try to speak with another kid just to have their parents hit him, sometimes he would try to enter the library to get a book to distract himself but of course the librarian would never allow this and would throw him out.
"Well I think I'll just go home or they might find me again" sighed Naruto
The walk home was quick, just another turn and he would be at the worn down building where he was the only inhabitant because nobody wanted to live anywhere near "the demon".
"AH found you!" of course luck was never in Naruto's favour and the three men had found him again, he tried to run but they caught him by his arms and pulled him into a dead end alley, they threw him hard against the wall and Naruto let out a scream at the impact.
"We will finally have our revenge for everything you've done!" said one of the men while rolling up his sleeve.
"Please just let me go I haven't done anything"
"You haven't done anything?! Then explain to me why my sister is dead! She wasn't even a shinobi and you killed her!"
"What? But I didn-ooof" said Naruto as the man punched him hard across the face making his arcade bleed
The two other men then took his arms to hold him while the first one beat him to an inch of his life, after a good 15 minutes of beating, Naruto was bleeding heavily, his hair was more red than blonde, his face barely recognizable, and bruises were already forming on his body.
"And now it's time to end your pathetic life!" said the first man while taking out a knife out of his pocket.
"N-n-no p-please d-don't, I beg you" said Naruto while sobbing
"Say goodbye to this world now brat" said the man holding the knife, thrusting his knife to stab Naruto in the heart.
POOF!
When all of a sudden a man with spiky silver hair, a mask covering the bottom half of his visage and a forehead protector that covered his left eye appeared out of a puff of smoke, holding the hand with the knife headed for Naruto.
"What do you think you're doing?" asked Kakashi coldly
"Oh shit it's a shinobi!"
"Run"
The two men that were holding Naruto tried to run to escape the punishment that goes for hurting Naruto, they didn't get very far as two ANBU's shot out of the shadows and pinned them down to the ground.
Kakashi then proceeded to smash the head of the man he was holding to effectively knock him out, he then turned to the ANBU's holding the other men.
"Can you please take them to Ibiki for punishment? I have to take Naruto to the hospital"
The ANBU then disappeared with the three men without a word, looking down at Naruto who was unconscious on the ground, Kakashi lifted Naruto off the ground and hurried to the hospital.
Hospital:
Nurses and doctors where running around to tend to patients when suddenly the doors of the hospital were slammed with a frantic and an out of breath Kakashi coming in while carrying a small child with blond hair soaked in blood.
"I need a doctor right this instant!" shouted Kakashi
A nurse came running to see what the ruckus was, but the moment she recognized the child in the arms of Kakashi she sneered.
"We will not accept this… thing here" with a scowled on her face
"What did you say?" said Kakashi with the air around him becoming visibly heavier and filled with killing intent.
The nurse was completely shivering in fear in front of the clearly enraged shinobi and the output of killing intent directed at her.
"GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY NURSE" yelled a tall black man that just entered entrance hall, the white blouse he adorned clearly made him stand out as a doctor, he was taller than Kakashi by a good margin and wider too but without being fat, he had golden eyes, a bald head and a goatee.
The nurse already scared by Kakashi, almost fell to her knees hearing her superior yelling at her like that and ran out of the room.
"Quick bring him in here!" said the doctor motioning to a room
Kakashi was about to do so but then a thought crossed his mind, some people had tricked Naruto in the past to make him believe that they would help him, just to do more harm to him right after.
Seeing Kakashi's hesitation the doctor understood immediately.
"I don't have any reservation about him, I find it actually disgusting how this village is treating him, let me treat him and then we can talk" said the doctor
Kakashi seeing no other option but to trust the man quickly brought Naruto in the room and put him on the bed, Kakashi then watched as the doctor proceeded to clean the wounds, it was truly frightening how much blood the young child had lost, after the wounds were mostly cleaned, the doctor's hands started to glow with a green light and wounds were slowly starting to close themselves, when he was finished he started to bandage Naruto in case the wounds were to reopen.
The doctor then turned to Kakashi who was sitting in the corner of the room and surprisingly not reading Icha-Icha for once.
"I have cleaned and stitched all his wounds, he is still unconscious because he received some hard blows to the head, but he should be awake in the morning, oh and by the way my name is Dr. Gabe Kano, nice to meet you" said while extending his hand to Kakashi.
"It's nice to meet you I'm Kakashi Hatake, and thank you for taking care of Naruto"
"Yeah I've seen how this village treats this kid it's not how kids should live their childhood, I mean okay he did some pranks but he doesn't deserve that" said the doctor while looking sadly at Naruto's sleeping form.
"Wait you don't kn-….Excuse me if the question seems sudden but how much time has it been since you started living in the Leaf?"
"Oh I've been here for two years now, I was born in the country of Lightning, and then I became a travelling doctor, and two years ago I fell in love with this place and decided to stay, why is there something I should know?" asked the doctor with an intrigued expression
"I'm sorry I cannot say anything if you do not already know, anyway, I need to report to the Hokage can you keep an eye on him?"
"Yes I'll have some nurse I trust clean him out of all this blood and I will ask one of the ANBU's guarding the hospital to stay in front of his door"
"Thanks see you" said Kakashi as he disappeared in a puff of smoke
Hokage tower:
Hiruzen was tired, that was the understatement of the year, the paperwork never seemed to stop pilling up, and in his old age every move he made was tiring, but he had responsibilities to the village and until he finds an appropriate successor he was stuck in here.
"Why couldn't I have been the one doing this stupid seal heh Minato?" sighed Hiruzen to himself while looking at the portrait of his successor, suddenly someone knocked on the door.
"Enter" called out the third Hokage
"I would like to speak to you about Naruto Sir" said Kakashi as he entered
"Listen Kakashi, we had this conversation at least a hundred times, I would love nothing more than to let you take care of him but if the council were to learn that one of my highest jonin was with Naruto they would think I was training him, and they would call for his exec-"
"It's not about that" Cut off Kakashi "Well partially"
"What's troubling you my boy? Asked the wise hokage, it was a rare sight to see Kakashi Hatake so distraught so he knew something was wrong
"Today Naruto was pursued by three men for only the reason of existing, he managed to escape them for a time but they caught up to him, and they beat him for a long time, I managed to arrive on time with some ANBU to stop one of them from stabbing Naruto in the heart, had I been a second slower he would've died, and I cannot let that happen, I will not let that happen, I made a promise to Sensei that I would protect Kushina and Naruto, I failed for Kushina but I will not fail for Naruto, even if I have to flee the Leaf with him to protect him and fight even you!" said Kakashi with a look of determination
"Calm down Kakashi" said Hiruzen while lighting up his pipe "Where is young Naruto now?" he asked with concern
"He's in the hospital, one of the doctors didn't know about… his condition, and so he was not biased and took care of him"
"I see, and what of the aggressors?"
"They were sent to Ibiki for punishment"
"Good, now if my intuition is correct you have something in mind for young Naruto as I suppose you will not let him go back without someone to guard him" asked the old man with a twinkle in his eyes
"Yes I have a plan but I am afraid that you won't like it" said Kakashi while looking him dead in the eyes.
"Tell me"
"The injustice that Naruto has faced for all his short life is more than some have experienced in 50 years of life, I want this to stop, today it was a beating and almost getting stabbed, 1 month ago it was his apartment that was destroyed, 3 months ago someone broke his arm, and without saying the scorn of the civilian population" said Kakashi while seeming very sad for the things the son of his teacher has endured "the shinobis are much less biased against him, because only a small portion of shinobis that do not know the difference between a scroll and a kunai have a problem with Naruto, regular shinobi don't have anything against him but won't help him, but the ANBU really like Naruto"
"Where are you going Kakashi, I thought you were going to ask me to have Naruto placed in your care?" asked the Third with a curious expression
"No I have missions to go on and I wouldn't be able to be here for him, I am suggesting that we remove Naruto from the public eye, I think Naruto should be trained and when he is ready should join the ANBU black ops, so that he can live his shinobi life masked and not looked at with distaste"
"The council would never allo-"started Hiruzen
"Sir! If I am not mistaken this is not a democracy, you as the hokage have full power in the Village, you only answer to the fire Daimyo, the council should not even make decisions, however it was created to help Hokages with their tasks during hardships, but you still have the last say!" affirmed Kakashi
"You are correct Kakashi, it seems I have let them walk over me for too long now" sighed the old man
"So you will accept?" said Kakashi with hope in his voice
"Yes I think it's for the best, I don't know how many times Naruto can escape from his aggressors or how many times we can save him before it's too late…. Very well I accept your idea Kakashi, but as you said earlier you do not have the time to train him so who should?"
"I didn't really think about that hehehehe" said Kakashi bashfully "maybe Master Jiraya?"
"That would be good but no, Jiraya has to continue his surveillance for us, since the attack of the nine tails and the loss of Minato, the Rock and Cloud have been bolder, I need Jiraya to stay out there to prevent a disaster"
"Then who should train Naruto, if I can't do it, and Master Jiraya is also unable, surely you don't have the time to train him Sir?" asked Kakashi
"You're right, I do not have the time to train him as much as I would like to" sighed the old Hokage as he took a drag on his pipe "Tomorrow morning, come see me and we will go see young Naruto together, I will have someone to train him by then."
"Very well Sir, have a good evening" said Kakashi as he turned to leave by the door
"Kakashi, do not be late"
The copy ninja turned to give the Professor one look "Yes sir" and then left and closed the door behind him
"It seems your shinobi career will start sooner that I would have liked Naruto, I wonder if you will become like your father or like your mother" mused the old man as he smoked on his pipe while looking at the setting sun.
The following morning, Hospital
Dr. Gabe Kano was in his office and seated across his desk was the nurse who tried to refuse Naruto to get healed, not a sound was made in the room apart from the nervous leg tapping of the nurse who was looking everywhere else but in Gabe's eyes, meanwhile Gabe was staring at her with a cold expression.
"What's your name?" asked the doctor
"Wha-? Oh huh my name's Ikedera Akomi Sir" answered the nurse anxiously
"I see, now I want to know why you became a nurse"
"When I was a child, my grandmother was very sick, and I wanted to help people get better, it was a dream of mine since I can remember"
"That's a good dream to have, but something is troubling me, you say you want to help people get better, but just yesterday you tried to refuse a five year old boy the care he needed to stay alive, now explain that to me"
"B-but Sir! That… thing does not deserve the car of hospitals, after all he is just a-"
"A child, he is just a child" cut off Gabe "Do you think every children do not deserve the right to healthcare?"
"N-no of course not"
"I see, well anyway, I just wanted to speak with you for a bit, you can leave now, oh and don't forget to turn in your badge and your uniform" said Gabe lazily
"What? What do you mean turn in my badge and uniform?" asked the nurse frantically
"Yeah you heard me right, you just lost your job, you're lucky you just lost your job and not your life because believe me I was tempted, now fuck off out of this hospital and never come back"
Ikedera ran out of the room as tears were falling from her eyes, just after she left the room, another nurse entered.
"Sir, the third Hokage and jonin Hatake Kakashi have asked for you in the lobby"
"Ah! Very well thank you for getting me"
The tall doctor then made his way to the lobby, when he arrived he saw that the old Hokage was seated in on the chairs in the waiting area while the silver haired jonin was leaning against the wall reading his book and approached them.
"Hokage-sama, Kakashi, you'll be please to know that Naruto has awoken and is in good shape" smiled the doctor
"Hah that is some good news isn't it Kakashi?" smiled Hiruzen
"Yes it is Sir" responded Kakashi "would it be possible for us to see him? We have some things we would like to speak to him about" added the copy ninja
"You can see him, however I must tell you that while he has fully recovered, something that I never saw has happened, maybe it is a reaction of all the stress he has endured but it is truly strange"
"What is it?" asked the Hokage in worry
"It'll be easier to show you" answered the doctor "follow me"
Hiruzen and Kakashi then followed to Naruto's room, entering the room Naruto was seated on the bed but was facing away from them.
"Hey kiddo, look who came to visit you" said Gabe cheerfully
Naruto turned to see who it was and was immediately smiling
"Hokage-jiji, masked shinobi!" Naruto exclaimed as he ran towards them, as he was running, Hiruzen and Kakashi could see exactly what Gabe was talking about before, while Naruto's face hadn't changed apart from the small scratches that still adorned his face and the few bandages still in place, there was two major difference compared to the usual Naruto, one of his eyes completely changed color, he had now one sky blue eye and the other was a deep purple, the other big change was his hair, while he still had his sun kissed blonde hair, there was now a blood red streak across it.
"Hello young Naruto, how are you doing?" asked kindly the Hokage while trying the keep his composure in face of these change "I was very concerned for you when I heard what happened to you"
"Yeah that was scary, I thought I was going to die" said Naruto while shivering from recalling what happened not 24 hours prior "But the masked shinobi helped me so everything's alright now and was super nice with me" said Naruto with a bright smile
"Ah yes you haven't been introduced yet to the shinobi that helped you" mused Hiruzen "Come here Kakashi, Naruto this is Kakashi Hatake, one of my best shinobi"
"Hi my name's Naruto Uzumaki, thanks for saving me!" exclaimed Naruto while putting his hand forward
"Nice to meet you Naruto" said Kakashi as he gently shook the hand of the 5 year old boy in front of him who was looking at him with stars in his eyes, Naruto then proceeded to ask a million question to Kakashi, about how awesome being a shinobi was, what kind of technique he knew, if he could teach him.
While Kakashi was swept in a conversation with Naruto, Hiruzen went to see Gabe who was leaning against the wall.
"So? Why has one his eyes changed color and why does he have some red hair now?"
"Honestly? I do not know, I would say it was the shock he received but who knows for certain, we tried to wash his hair at least 10 times to make sure it wasn't blood, after ten tenth time we arrived at the conclusion that some of his hair color had changed" answered the doctor
"Is there any repercussion to his change of eye color? Loss of sight? Blurry vision? Anything?"
"Nope, I did the tests myself, no repercussion whatsoever, it is really one of the strangest things I have ever seen in my life"
"I see, well, no use fretting over it, when will he be able to get out of the hospital?" demanded the Hokage
"I can discharge him right now if you want to" answered Gabe
"Yes that would be great, thank you"
"Alright Naruto come here" called Gabe as Naruto finally stopped asking Kakashi questions faster than he could answer.
"Yeah what's up?" asked the young boy
"You are getting discharged, you will leave with the Hokage and Kakashi, now be careful and if you need anything you know where to find me okay kiddo?" smiled
"Thanks a lot Doc, you're really nice!" answered Naruto while smiling brightly
"No problem!" said Gabe while giving him a thumbs up
"Alright Naruto let's go" said Hiruzen "Thank you again for your help Doctor"
"Have a good day Hokage-sama"
The group of three, consisting of a 5 year old boy, one of the strongest jonin of the Leaf and a man that was once called the God of Shinobi left the hospital walking toward the Hokage tower.
"Hey jiji, where are we going?" asked Naruto
"We are going to my office, I have some things to discuss with you"
"Can't we talk while eating some ramen, I am like super hungry" whined Naruto as his stomach rumbled
"Hmm depends if Kakashi agrees"
Naruto then looked at Kakashi with hopefulness, while almost jumping in place as he was thinking of getting his favorite food
"I guess we could" answered Kakashi
"YAY!" exclaimed the young boy as he started to run in the direction of the Ichiraku ramen stand
When Kakashi and Hiruzen arrived at the stand they saw that Naruto was already seated and was starting to eat his second bowl of miso ramen, the two of them ordered one bowl of miso ramen each and sat down on either side of Naruto, both were happy to see that Naruto, hadn't changed much in spite of what happened to him.
For the next 20 minutes they all ate in silence until Hiruzen cleared his troat
"Hum-hum, Naruto, tell me my boy, what do you think of shinobis?" asked the Hokage
"Well some of them are jerks but they are soooooooo cool, they can walk on the ceiling, control the elements, be hidden in plain sight, it'awesome!" said a starstruck Naruto
"And what about the ANBU's" asked Kakashi
"That's the masked ones right?"
"That's right"
"Well they don't speak much but they are waaaaaaay nicer that the normal shinobis, they don't talk but they always help me when I'm in trouble"
"Would like to become one?" asked Hiruzen
"What a shinobi? HELL YEAH! That would be sooooo awesome!"
"I have an offer for you Naruto, I have an old friend of mine that has agreed to train you for the next few years, until you are ready to join the ANBU, would you like to do that? Asked the God of Shinobi looking very serious all of a sudden
"Before you answer Naruto, let me tell you that the ANBU are the special force of Konoha, they do some of the hardest missions that there is, there's a good chance of dying if you agree to this" said Kakashi equally as serious as his superior
"Well what else can I do, they won't let me enter the library so I cannot learn anything, and nobody wants to help me so I don't have a choice but to accept" said Naruto sadly and seriously
"Very well Naruto, I will tell your teacher to come pick you up tomorrow morning at 7 at your apartment" said Hiruzen as he and Kakashi stood up from their seats " but let me give you a bit of advice, listen to him, he has more experience that a lot of shinobi put together and he is very strong, and he will run you into the ground until you will not be able to move, so if I was you, I would take a good night of sleep tonight and prepare myself for what's to come"
"Don't worry Jiji! I can take it, I'm tough as nails!" said Naruto with a smile
"That you are my boy, goodbye for now" said Hiruzen as he and Kakashi left Naruto to his fifth bowl
As he was looking down on his ramen Naruto saw his own reflection with one blue and one purple eye looking back at him.
"Tomorrow I will start my training as a shinobi!"
