Pairing: Josh/Ollie (M/m) flyswatter

Friday, January 28, 2011

Jackson was relieved to see Ollie come out on the field, but disappointed to see his friend head for the bench. He made a pretense of needing a drink and trotted over to speak to him.

"Hey bro, what happened? Are you allowed to play?" Jackson asked as the team manager poured him a drink from the orange gallon water cooler.

"I got my bare ass busted with some smaller, heavy-ass paddle with holes in in," Ollie confessed shifting uncomfortably and frowning. "But the worse is Coach gave me some lecture like I could be real smart and successful if I tried...some bullshit like that."

Jackson glanced back at the field and decided he had a minute to talk to his friend.

"Oliver, you are smart and are capable of being a leader. I know you act like a fuck-up and a fool sometimes, but dude, that's not you. That asshole who got wasted on moonshine is not the guy you have to be, you know," Jackson said gently.

"Really, Jack? Sometimes I feel like that is me...that I am just that guy. To try to be more could mean that I might fail," Oliver said softly.

"You might fail. Dude, I might fail. That's okay. But Coach sees the smart you who is good now at football, but could be great. Man, you just have to decide what you want and go for it," Jackson encouraged.

"That's what Coach said. Were you guys talking about me?" Ollie asked with a laugh.

"No, but we just see the real you, even when you try to hide it beneath nonsense. But you know I love you either way, man," Jackson said running off as the assistant coach called his name.

Ollie smiled a little. Even though his backside was sore despite his fast werewolf healing, he thought he got it now. When he acted like a moron, he was not fooling anyone. Maybe he would skip the party tonight? Instead of being that guy, he would go home and see if Grandma needed help and go to bed early. He had promised his English teacher he would do the reading this weekend. She said he could come to her room doing study hall if he had questions. It was almost as if they were taking away all his excuses to fail...Oliver watched the guys practice and decided that maybe he could be a different Ollie, a better one.

Jule's House

Hayley had never tried to go to a big school party like this before. Jackson had drove them over in the truck. Tommy had ended up coming, but Ollie and Aiden went home.

"Oliver seemed in an awfully good mood for someone who got his butt busted today," Hayley commented in the truck.

Jackson said, "Yup, he got it pretty good, too. But Coach had a talk with him after about acting the fool, I think he kind of got through to him. Ollie said he was going to check in with grandma and then do his English lit!"

"Really, homework on a Friday night?" Tommy exclaimed. "Holy shit."

"It ain't such a bad idea," Jackson smiled poking Tommy in the arm.

"I just wonder if Grandma is going whup him again when she finds out he got paddled," Jackson frowned.

Hayley cringed, "Jack, I hate to say it, but Mary is in no condition to swat a fly. I think Ollie is off the hook."

Tommy laughed, "Yeah, you know my brother can barely smack me and I sure as heck don't think Josh is going to do it."

"Josh? Ha, no way," Hayley laughed.

"Yeah, Ollie dodged a bullet. So much for 'spanked at school, spanked at home.' Grandma is going to have to console herself with a stern talking-to," Jackson agreed. "Ollie is going through some shit. Hopefully, he can get himself straightened out."

Evening

Ollie and Aiden got home after the game. Grandma and Josh were sitting up on the porch.

"Did ya win?" Mary hollered.

"Nah, the wildcats won by 45 points. But I wasn't allowed to play," Ollie admitted.

"The best player? What happened, boy?" Mary asked bluntly.

Aiden winced, "Ah Josh, want to go in and watch tv?"

Josh smirked, "I kind of want to hear this."

Ollie scowled at Josh, "Fine, long story short. My English lit teacher thought I was drunk, which I was, I got detention for not doing my homework. That got me in trouble with Coach and he..."

"What'd he do, Oliver?" Mary prompted.

"He paddled me after I got out of detention," Ollie confessed.

"For one detention?" Mary asked incredulously.

"Well, three. He warned me he was fixing to whup me if was slacking and I called the teacher a bitch in front of him," Ollie admitted.

"Oh boy, how many swats did you get?" Mary asked sternly.

"Five, no, I think six...Five, like on the bare almost," Oliver stammered.

"Show me your backside," Mary demanded.

"Here? In front of Josh!" Ollie whined covering his behind.

"He don't care. Now peel them down. I want to see if I ought to spank you tonight or tomorrow," Mary quipped.

"Grandma, I don't need another spankin'. I come home to see if you had chores for me and to do school work. Honest!" Ollie groaned.

"Or did you feel guilty? You know the coach already called me before he paddled you, right?" Mary revealed.

"No, ma'am. I did not know that. So that is why he pulled down my pants?" Ollie flushed.

"I told him that he could bare your behind if you sassed him and were cussing. Now, let me see the damage," Mary repeated.

Oliver huffed and pulled down the back of his jeans and underwear to right below his behind. After the game, he had showered and changed into briefs and jeans.

"Your behind looks fine," Mary said.

"Now it is, but he used a real heavy paddle. If I wasn't a werewolf, I would be sitting on pillows all week," Ollie defended as he pulled his pants back up.

"Do you think that is fair that your fast healing gets you out of punishments faster?" Mary asked. "I think you came home because you felt a little guilty over your behavior today."

Oliver hung his head, "I'm sorry, Grandma. I shouldn't gotten so drunk last night and made a fool out of myself. I got three lectures from the English teacher, the coach, and Jackson about doing better. I'm going to listen to them and do better. Ain't that punishment enough?"

"You know the rule about getting it at school, but my hands were aching something awful today. I think you would feel better if you got that licking and sent to bed early, but ain't no one around to do it," Mary said. "I let you off the first times you got it thinking they were just one time things, but Ollie, this is becoming a habit."

Josh gulped, "I am here. I can't say I've ever disciplined anyone like this before, but Ollie, I do care about you...I see how you are acting up and getting a little wild and it makes me worry for you, for all of us who cares about you. I do not think a little more discipline would be a bad thing if it keeps you alive and well."

Ollie paled, "No, Josh. It would be too embarrassing, Please, Grandma, I don't feel guilty."

Mary called to him and held Ollie's hands with her hands in front of her, "Come here and look me in the eye. If you can tell me you do not deserve a follow up spankin' for your behavior today, you are off the hook."

Ollie tried, "I don't...I can't say it...I guess I do deserve another licking."

Mary brought his hands up to her lips and kissed them, "You are a good boy. Now, go to your room and get ready for bed. Josh will be in after I talk with him. I love you, boy."

Ollie teared up, "Love you, too." He went inside to get his night clothes on.

Mary looked at Josh, "You sure you are up to this?"

Josh shook his head, "No, I love that kid, too, but he is tough. Will my hand be enough?"

Aiden rubbed Josh's arm, "Grandma, what about your fly swatter? Not as harsh as the hair brush, but more than just a bare hand."

Mary smiled, "The fly swatter packs a punch, it stings, but won't bruise. Josh, he is tough. Once, he releases his guilt feelings, he won't need much more. But he could use someone building him back up after. I really feel like that boy just does not realize how strong he is."

"I understand, Mary. I will take good care of him," Josh promised.

"Aiden, you stay out here and keep me company, okay?" Mary smiled.

"Yes, ma'am, it is a nice night," Aiden smiled.

"So your brother went to a party, huh?" Mary asked.

"Yes, ma'am. We sort of forced him to go. Maybe he will meet some other kids his age. I don't know," Aiden hoped.

"I hope he does. He ought to be out there, having some fun, too," Mary proposed.

French Quarter

Evening

"This place is huge!" Hayley gushed.

"Don't Davina live near here?" Jackson asked.

Tommy frowned, "I think I know that girl. I am going to go talk to her."

"Don't run off," Jackson warned. "Be careful."

"Okay, Dad," Tommy joked, as Hayley laughed and almost choked on her beer.

"Dad is going to bust your ass if you get wasted," Josh retorted, but Tommy had already melted into the crowd.

"You know, you are already a great dad. No lie," Hayley said hugging Jackson around the waist tightly. She led him to a dark corner where they could talk. Living in Mary's house, they never had time alone.

"Gee, thanks. I wish I didn't have to be, but you know you kind of act like their mom sometimes?" Jackson responded with laughter. He sipped on the beer in his hand.

"I know. Jack, do ever wish we had normal lives? Like we weren't wolves and had parents and just normal problems?" Hayley yelled over the music.

"No, because maybe if things were different, we would be different. I love you how you are, Hayley. Sometimes I remember that we were betrothed, when you were Andrea Labonair, but I feel like we would have been different, less appreciative of life without our struggles," Jackson admitted.

"Well, we both had our share, I reckon," Hayley said dryly.

"We did, but we have good times ahead of us. I can feel it," Jackson said kissing her.

"Ugh, we taste like cheap beer. I would think rich kids would have better beer! Jackson, do you hear sirens?" Hayley said in a panic.

"Yeah, shh, let's get out of her. We can jump out of this window. Shit! Where is Tommy?" Jackson hissed.

"We can't leave without him," Hayley said firmly.

"You go, I'll get Tommy and meet you at Davina's house," Jack said.

"No, I am not leaving you," Hayley said searching the room for Tommy.

"It's too late anyway, the cops are here. We're busted," Jackson said.

An hour later, Hayley, Jackson, and Tommy were united. Hayley had texted Davina that they were in trouble. Marcel came in and tried to get the kids freed from police custody. They had been booked for underage drinking.

"Mr. Gerard, I know who you are. Do not think you can fool me, my uncle is on the council," a tall officer said to Marcel. "I am on vervain."

"I understand, Officer. I will take these three into my custody. I assure you they will be taken care of," Marcel said evenly.

"The boy seems legit, but the other two have issues with their paperwork. This Mary Dumas is not their official guardian. If I turn them over, you must sign on to be their official guardians," the officer informed him.

Hayley became upset, "But I live with Mary. I thought it was official. Tommy, too."

"Miss, if Mr. Gerard will vouch for you and sign as your official guardian today with the judge, he can take you home. If not, I am afraid you will have to go into the system," the officer said gently.

"No! We'll go with Mr. Gerard then," Hayley cut in. She would not go back into foster care for a single day. Plus, Tommy needed to be with his brother. Maybe Marcel would vouch for them and take them back to the Bayou?

"That sounds fine. I can get five judges on the phone right now. Where do I sign?" Marcel said.

Another hour later and Marcel brought home a shaken Hayley, an angry Jackson, and an exhausted Tommy.

"Kids, Rebekah will get you all something to eat and into bed. I'm going to call Mary and explain the situation, " Marcel said with sympathy.

Davina was there to hug Hayley and get the two boys settled.

"Don't worry, my dad will get you guys back home!" Davina promised.

Rebekah agreed, "Marcel is the King of New Orleans, if he cannot do it, it cannot be done. But tonight, you guys stay here, okay?"

"Thank you, Ms. Mikaelson," Jackson said. "We're real sorry to get y'all involved in all this mess."

"Jackson, I am glad you called. Now, eat up and then go get some rest. We will sort everything out in the morning," Rebekah said as she refilled their glasses and plates.

"Mom, you are stuffing them. I think they are ready for bed," Davina said yawning.

"Of course, honey," Rebekah said. The three visitors began to trudge upstairs.

"Thanks, Mom," Davina said softly.

"Oh Davina, I am so glad you were not at that party. You did the right thing in telling Dad and me about it. Your friends are welcome here as long as they need a place to stay," Rebekah informed her.

Marcel came out of his study, "Rebekah."

"Honey, I'll be up in a minute," Rebekah promised.

"Jackson is okay to go back to the Bayou as Mary is his official guardian. But Hayley and Tommy? Nope. They are now our wards. The child services is going to be checking in on them. Honey, how do you feel about three more kids?" Marcel said.

"Three? Where did you come up with three? You said Jackson is fine to go home," Rebekah wondered.

"Aiden, Tommy's brother. He's also not Mary's official ward. Oliver is official as Mary got custody after his parents died, but the others...they are now ours," Marcel announced.

"How did Mary take it?" Rebekah asked.

"Okay, she is having some health problems and thinks that the boys will be safer in the city. She is worried about Hayley, though. She and Jackson are inseparable. She is worried that the girl won't stay here and will run away," Marcel shared.

"Oh no, Marcel, that is awful. Does Mary want us to tell them?" Rebekah asked.

"Yeah, but maybe we wait until tomorrow. Let's let them sleep well together. Poor kids. I know one person who will be busting with joy," Marcel announced.

"Josh," Rebekah answered.

Louisiana Bayou

One Hour Before

Josh held the metal handled fly swatter and felt silly. The end was a cheerful yellow plastic that Mary swore never killed a fly. Was he really going to swat this werewolf kid's behind for getting trouble in school? They already beat the hell out of the kid which was more than Josh ever got. Josh himself had been a quiet, shy, well-behaved student. He had only skipped school twice himself and never got caught. Now that Josh reflected, he had done quite a few bad things...but just never got caught. No one ever suspected the "good" kids. Even if he had gotten caught, what would Josh's parents have done? Probably nothing, he suspected. Maybe given him the silent treatment or a half-assed lecture on responsibly between the commercial breaks of their favorite television shows? Josh wondered if his parents ever mourned him or were relieved he was gone. He swallowed hard and decided he had to be there more for Ollie, like Marcel had been there for him. Screw his deadbeat parents, Josh scoffed.

Josh pushed open the cracked door and found Ollie in bed reading To Kill a Mockingbird.

"How's the book?" Josh said nervously.

"It's pretty good once you actually read it. Did you ever read it?" Ollie asked sitting up.

"I guess I did a long time ago. You know, Ollie, I was thinking when I was your age, I did a lot of stuff, like bad stuff and I never got caught," Josh said uncomfortably. "Cheating, skipping, lying, smoking, and drinking, for starters."

"How come?" Ollie asked.

"How come I did it? Or how come I never got caught?" Josh laughed. "I don't know to both, but to tell you the truth, I feel like kind of a fraud now. You know, disciplining you, when maybe I got away with worse things," Josh admitted.

"It's okay. I kind of wonder if I do stupid shit on purpose sometimes. Like I'm afraid if I am not 'Crazy Ollie' then no one will notice me. Like Jack is our alpha, everyone respects him because you just can't help it. Aiden is real nice and smart. Tommy is good with animals and good with people. Hayley is real pretty and cares about kids...But what am I? Just a fuck up?" Ollie confessed.

"Ollie, you are not a fuck up. Your friends, Mary and I, and a lot of other people love you. You have something that makes other people look at you, charisma, I don't know, charm. Buddy, you just gotta believe in yourself that you are a good person who is special in his own way," Josh said kindly.

"I will try, Josh. I want people to be proud of me, not to have to keep whupping me or talking to me half to death. I just felt like a failure," Ollie admitted.

"Okay, maybe I can spank these doubts out of you because a lot of people care about you, Oliver. I don't want to see you dropping out or getting arrested or killing yourself because you think we don't love you. How are we going to do this?" Josh asked brandishing the fly swatter.

Ollie knew he was strong as a werewolf, but he was not sure if Josh matched or exceeded his strength as a vampire. He hesitated and Josh noticed.

"Buddy, I know what you are thinking. Who is stronger? Me or you? To tell you the truth, I really do not know, but I will not fight you. Now bare your bottom and get over the bed," Josh said getting a pillow for Ollie to lean over.

Oliver's face flamed up in shame, but he pulled down his sweats. He did not have on anything beneath them. He did wonder if Josh was stronger than him, but Ollie knew he deserved this.

Josh felt for the kid, "I will tell you something else. I didn't get in trouble much when I was a kid. But when I first became a vampire, I did some things that really pissed off Marcel. He, being the 200 year old, boss that he is, had old fashioned methods of dealing with me."

Ollie laid down flat on his bed over the pillow. Josh tapped his bare seat lightly with the fly swatter.

"He spanked you?" Ollie laughed. "Are you serious? But you are old."

"I'm only a couple of years older than you, but never mind that. Yup, go ahead and laugh, kid. I thought I was going to die from humiliation. I lived my whole human life without getting smacked and then as an immortal, I got my butt paddled. And Marcel paddles pretty hard. The thing I learned too from the fast healing is...," Josh said tapping the swatter. Tap! Tap! Smack!

"Ouch!" Ollie yelped at the first swat. "What?"

"That we can take a much longer spanking, the more you heal, the more you can get spanked!" Josh said now holding down Ollie with his left hand. Tap! Tap! Smack!

Josh began to swat Ollie on the center of each cheek back and forth slowly. Ollie began to sway and tried to wiggle out of the way. He threw his hands back after ten swats. Josh pinned his hands and lowered the swats to Ollie's sit spots, then the top of his thighs.

Whap! Whap! Whap! Whap! Whap! Whap!

Like Mary suggested, the second Josh heard the boy cry, he stopped. By this time, Ollie's rear was red again from the crest of his behind down his thighs.

"Please, I already got paddled really hard today," Oliver wept.

Josh put down the fly swatter and rubbed the boy's sore behind gently.

"Why, Ollie? What happened?" Josh asked softly.

Ollie wept out that he had been drunk, not done his work, called his teacher a name, and was acting like a fool.

"Are you a fool, young man?" Josh said letting go of Oliver's hands. They immediately went to his bottom. Josh swatted him twice.

"Hands off. Now answer my question. Oliver, are you a fool?" Josh repeated.

"No, sir," Ollie sobbed. "But I act like one."

"Are you done with that kind of behavior?" Josh demanded.

"Yes, sir. I am going to do my school work and not fool around or drink. I want to get better at football and help the team so we don't lose like we did tonight. Coach said if I tried, I could get a scholarship," Oliver admitted.

Josh was surprised. He lifted the boy up and helped him pull his sweats over his red behind. Ollie cupped his cheeks a minute. Josh pulled Ollie down into a hug on his lap, careful to let his stinging behind hang between his knees.

"Did you tell anyone about this scholarship?" Josh asked holding Ollie and patting his back.

Ollie hiccuped, "No, I don't know why I didn't say nothing."

"Buddy, it's okay to talk to your friends. We are here for you. But we can't help you when you push people away. You gotta talk and tell people what is on your mind. It's okay to be scared or not know what to do, we all feel like that sometimes, but acting out when it hurts you is not okay," Josh said pulling out a handkerchief for Ollie to wipe his face.

"Gosh, you are a vampire, huh?" Ollie said taken the embroidered linen.

"Yeah, it kind of suits me. So what are you going to do the next time you are feeling lost and unsure of what to do?" Josh asked quietly.

"Talk to someone," Ollie answered.

"You can call me anytime, even if you want to make fun of me for liking club music or getting my butt smacked at 19. But don't you feel alone, Ollie, cause you're not," Josh insisted.

"You're only 19! Jeez, I thought you were like 22 or something," Ollie said in amazement.

Josh lifted up Ollie and peeled back the covered for him to get into the bed. Ollie got in on his stomach. Just as Josh put the cover over Ollie, Mary came in.

"Marcel just called. There was trouble in the city," Mary said in shock.
