HOWDY DO THERE
I am not really sure what I'm doing with this fic
I ended up writing a short storyline on impulse but I think that it will be good
Since this was a spur of the moment thing on my behalf , I can not promise that I will write a new chapter that often or even at all
Don't count on a full story I may stop whenever at a random point depending on what I feel like.
Marine luffy / pirate ace / eventual revolutionary sabo
Luffy is smarter he doesn't have a devil fruit and there will be expanded crew and differnt events and possibly even entire different arcs im not sure as I am not yet that confident.
Before we go into this i just wanna say omfg luffy had a shit childhood i mean just think about it before luffy met ace and Sabo I mean just think about it at 3 years old he lived with just his grandpa who was a marine who often left for periods of time meaning that luffy was often living alone at just 4 years old his only way to live was the occasional, money sent by Garp that he would use to eat at makinos but alot of the time he would run out of that money and makino would feed him for free so basically he lived by himself and visited a bar for food and his grandpa rarely came and when he did he would beat him and throw him into the forest to " train "
Just saying shitty childhood
Also i am not sure whether ill be adding all the cannon strawhats or not I'll figure that out later
And shoutout to cobys choice by Swordofthegods for giving me a few ideas
Also quick edit but I wanted to mention that the reason I get rid of dont or im and stuff like that is because it helps make the word count bigger which is just something I want big

Luffy age: 4
" hu..hieh..*cough*huh*cough* "
Luffy was struggling to breath, he was stuck in a ravine that his gramps threw him in, he has been stuck for 3 days and has been forced to eat bugs and drink out of puddles, he's struggling and just ran away from a wolf, he got lucky and fell down a ditch ( not very lucky ) and got away but after all that he was choking underneath a tree while tears streamed down his face
All luffy can remember is being put through different challenges and hardships, his only good memories are when he visited makino or when garp would tell him about the great marines and pirate king
Luffy found both the pirate king and marines cool he saw the lure in being a pirate but also in being a marine
He thought that pirates were great and awesome but he admired how heroic the marines were
But because his grandpa is forcing him to be a marine he naturally is resisting but regardless he is forced to. " train " as he calls it and it is hard , so hard in fact that he's about to die now that the wolf found him again...
" HYAAAAHAH I DO NOT WANNA DIE SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME " the wolf attacked but was suddenly sent flying and when luffy looked at what happened he saw the legendary fist of love
For once he actually appreciated and admired garp ( he was a kid so he forgot that this was his fault in the first place ) he admitted that he was awesome like a hero
A few hours later and luffy was still crying ... I mean hell he thought he was dead plus he had cuts and bruises all over his body from the fall
" * sniffle sniffle * Grandpa... " luffy whined a little " Why? It hurts grandpa "
Garp felt a pang of guilt in his chest he was well aware that he was basically abusing luffy but he didn't know what else to do and it was either this or let him face the world without strength so he made the better decision of just putting luffy through hell ( not exactly the better decision lol )
" * sigh * luffy im sorry but I need you to be strong t-this world is not an easy-going place and with your bloodline you will be right in the thick of it and you will be in lots of danger but I need you to live that is why I am hurting you right now ... so you will not be hurt later on ... do you understand "
Luffy nodded although he didn't really believe him and had plenty of questions that he did not ask
2 years later
Luffy age: 6
Garp left about a month ago
And now luffy is by himself and his stomach was growling ... the solution " go to aunt makinos "
So that he did But something was wrong...
All the towns people are no where to be seen are they hiding?
He got to makinos bar and walked in casually and walked past all the customers and went to the front counter
" Auntie can i eat? " he looked up and saw a sweating makino with an expression of slight fear " Y-yes of course luffy just come with me " he didn't see the looks from the customers
" Hmm something about that boy caught my attention " a dark gray hair man said
" yeah maybe we can keep an eye on him captain? " a fat man said
" yeah I get that feeling to , anyway WE ARE HERE TO PARTY! " the red head let out a loud celebratory cheer as he raised his glass and everybody started drinking
" *hiccup* T-that B-boy is about my sons age ya-kno-" the blonde man passed out drunk landing head first into the table.
Meanwhile with luffy
" L-luffy what are you doing here " she whispered frantically
Luffy got scared by her tone " I-i just came to eat w-whats happening "
She explained that pirates showed up at Port and the villagers went into hiding and the mayor spoke to them and offered money but they refused and said they came in peace just to relax but she and the villagers did not bother to trust them and are keeping an eye out at her bar ... luffy spied on them for the next couple weeks until they caught him ( they already knew he was there ) and at first he didn't like them but quickly started bonding with them
Until shanks asked luffy what his dream was
Luffy replied that he doesn't have one yet
During that time shanks became like a father figure to luffy and unlike the cannon universe luffy wasn't as childish for some reason
One day he saw the devil fruit and almost went to eat it but was stopped by shanks who explained what it was and asked if he still wanted to eat it
" HELL NO " Was his polite reply making the others laugh
During this time he bonded with everybody
Beckman became like the overprotective uncle who acted like a tsundere
Lucky roux always gave him food and sometimes would play games with luffy
Yasopp would always tell luffy stories of their adventures and about his son which sometimes made luffy fall asleep
The man with a monkey was scary but very gentle he would give luffy gifts like every month such as a action figure or a bar of soap honestly just anything that he thought would help or be fun and his monkey would often play with luffy when he was lonely.
Rockstar thought luffy was a cool kid and one day followed him because he was ordered to see what kind of lifestyle luffy lived
And he was horrified
Luffy would get up early in the morning by himself to go see if he had rotten milk and cereal if he didn't then he would go straight to makinos until 4 pm when he left he went towards his house when a few kids bullied him for being a outcast but even so luffy tried to be there friend but because of his grandpa he was overly strong and scared the other kids when he broke the ball with a kick and the other kids would call him names such as " monster , demon , freak , demons grandkid , ( the kids didn't know who garp was just that he was a monster like person ) or even orphan brat " which pissed Rockstar off who snuck rocks into their pillow sheets which sucked for them and then after that he would play with the action figures he got from the monkey man until he fell asleep crying
He reported this to shanks and that ruined the mood for alot of the pirates
They were pissed at the kids but wouldn't do anything
Several months later and a gross ass loser bitch came to the bar and demanded booze but when he found out that hey didn't have any he smashed a bottle over shanks head then proceeded to spit on him and slash the other bottles ( the man offers him something and he attacks him ... wow bro ) afterwards luffy was understandably pissed and asked what the hell happened
When Shanks laughed his ass off and got over it and explained his reasoning to luffy who ... couldn't argue with the logic but still didn't like it
I know everyone's seen this a thousand times so I'm just gonna use memes to keep it fun
A month later and those asshats came again and insulted shanks so luffy tried to defend his name and realized he made a fucking mistake
The bandits kidnapped him in front of the citizens and started beating him to hell
And since he was not made of rubber but was a normal person they broke 4 ribs 1 arm his foot and his nose
When shanks got there he was pissed
Lucky roux did his thing and shot mr dumbass in the head and Beckman went ham and systematically destroyed his enemies into oblivion
During this shanks gave a little speech about his friends and how he would protect them which really inspired luffy but it was too late to be happy since he suddenly could not see anything but smoke
A few minutes later
" HA HA HA HA HA! WHAT A BRILLIANT ESCAPE AND NOBODY WOULD EVER EXPECT A MOUNTAIN BANDIT TO HIDE OUT AT SEA "
luffy struggled to move
" I brought you along as a hostage but I no longer have a use for you * kicks him off the boat after bragging about his kill count * GOODBYE... "

Luffy tears up " hey stop crying your a tough guy remember "
PS goes as cannon but just gonna write it funny
" B-BUT BUGGY WHAT ABOUT YOUR NOSE! "

" its a small price to pay it is just an arm ... I am just glad you are okay "
Luffys breaks down in tears
A few weeks later
After talking
A goodbye is in order
" I PROMISE THAT ONE DAY I WILL BECOME STONGER THEN YOU I WILL PROTECT EVERYBODY AND BEAT ANYONE IN MY PATH " luffy shouted to the heavens
Shanks spoke up " hmm... you're gonna be stronger then us huh? Well then ... * takes his hat off * do me a favor keep this hat for me? * sets the hat down on luffys head as luffy cries * this hat means a lot to me promise that you'll give it back to me someday when you've become strong enough "
Luffy cries out to the leaving ship " YYYEEEEEEEESSS SHANKS "
1 year later
luffy age: 7
" M-MISTER GARP YOU GOTTA GIVE US A BREAK ACE IS ALREADY 10 YEARS OLD HE IS ALREADY MORE THEN WE CAN HANDLE CANT YOU TAKE HIM OFF OUR HANDS? "
" n-no WHOS THAT KID NOOOOO NOT ANOTHER ONE!? "
" HRMM Your choice is to either spend the rest of your life in impel down or you can raise them ... of course im being generous "
" well I dont want to go to jail sometimes I think I would be better off ... WE ALREADY HAVE OUR HANDS FULL WITH ACE NOW YOU WANNA THROW YOUR GRANDSON IN THE MIX "
"BLECH" ... Luffy wipes his cheek ... " ARGH SPIT! YUCK HEY WHO ARE YOU!? " ... " OH That is ace / YOU'RE BACK ACE?! "
Garp spoke up " thats ace he is three years older then you from now on you will be living together. Make sure you get along with him! "
Dadan screams
" you have a problem Dadan? ... NOPE WE WILL GLADLY LOOK AFTER HIM "

" I... hate bandits "

" WELL GUESS THE FUCK WHAT ... WE HATE YOU TO "
1 HOUR LATER
"...* Stomach growles* i am hungry " ... " look kid we are bandits you want food you gotta get it yourself . If you wanna stay here your gonna be my choreboy if you don't like that then you can leave this house ... if you snitch to garp i will kill you "
" you get 1 bowl of rice a day and 1 cup of water a day that's it " luffy simply said " Okay "
"..."
" THAT EASY! " DADAN Has been shocked
" one time grandpa left me alone in the jungle and there was another time where he threw me into a ravine ... this forest has all I need like earth worms , frogs , snakes and mushrooms i will be fine ... after all im gonna be the strongest "
Luffy left the bandits " I almost feel bad for the kid having a grandpa like that "
Luffy followed ace " HEY I AM LUFFY do not worry im not mad at you for spitting on me anymore! "
' please I need somebody I can not stand being alone anymore ' luffy thought
" ITS NO BIG DEAL LETS BE FRIENDS * Ace leaves and luffy gasps * WHERE ARE YOU GOING?! "
Starts following ace
"GYAAAAA " Luffy screams as he's about to be crushed day a tree but luffy used his natural instincts to duck just as it bumped the ground and went about a foot into the air above luffy just to crash behind him
Ace ran to the bridge but he turned around and he was shocked to see luffy right behind him
" Be my friend " luffy demanded
" HELL NO " Ace screamed as he attacked luffy with his pipe in a right swing but luffy used his arm to block which left a nasty bruise and made him crash into the rope but not fall off when he jumped back up and blocked another strike from ace barely knocking him off the edge of the bridge to fall into the river underneath
1 week later
" BOSS BOSS LUFFY IS BACK " Dadan immediately yelled back " HE'S ALIVE ... WHERE WERE YOU ALL THIS TIME!? " they see that he has a ripped up shirt but he's mostly unharmed
"I was hungry so I went to the gorge I even brought some for you guys to " he explained to the bandits
"..." they finally noticed something that should of been obvious ... on his shoulders were 4 dead wolves that all looked edible
" BUT I GET 2 OF THEM " He shouted out
" WELCOME TO THE FAMILY! " The bandits yelled with ulterior motives
' He is even stonger then ace at that age someone thought in fear ' ' he shared the food someone thought in gratitude ' 'He actually follows the rules somebody thought in shock '
On the other side of the wall Ace rolled his eyes after clearing up his shock.
1 day later
In the early morning
luffy yelled " YOU Are you going somewhere again today Ace. TAKE ME WITH YOU LETS BE FRIENDS!? " In turn he got a nasty glare from ace who started running before luffy shouted for him to wait and gave chase
" LUFFY YOU HAVE WORK TO DO HERE ... I guess he did give us dinner yesterday " Dadan admitted
On the first, second and third days of luffy chasing ace he managed to give him the slip as luffy has never been in this kind of terrain with rivers or crocodiles
The 4th and 5th day he lost him while climbing the mountain when he had to avoid boulders
The 6th day and 7th day he had nasty luck with animals and on the 8th day he fell into the river
But finally on the 9th day he got past the forest and into a ... trash mountain?
Luffy threw up from the stench but quickly got over it and followed ace and saw him speak to a blonde boy
" SABO ARE YOU THERE!? " ... Blonde boy upgraded into sabo
Now known as sabo responded " Hey ace sorry I'm late "
Ace mentioned finishing a job in town and called him out on being late
" Great so did I ... WOW YOU GOT MORE THEN I DID! Where did you get all this money? " ace responded " By the main gates of course ... I stole it from some street punks! I think they were from a mechant ship. " ... " Gah you beat me again " ... " Who cares we are saving money together to be pirates someday we have been at this for five years it has been pretty tough. "
" Yeah I wonder how much a pirate ship costs / Don't know don't care it could be anything anyway hurry up and close it before somebody sees us "
Luffy fell from the leaves above them " hrmm so you wanna be a pirate ace ... So this is where you have been coming every day. "
"..."
" GYAAAAA SHIT OF FUCK " The two boys panicked and spoke gibberish as they were startled by his appearance before they calmed down
Sabo spoke " Is he the luffy you keep talking about ace?/ so you finally made it all the way here luffy?! "
Ace turned to Sabo as luffy did the same. " Yep "
The two tied luffy up but he didn't mind as they conversed amongst themselves while luffy broke free of the rope
The the boys planned to kill luffy when he walked up to them and spoke
" No i don't think we should kill him "
"..."
The two startled boys screamed again and attacked luffy with a pole who jumped back and dodged the poles before they managed to get him into a corner " I just wanna be friends " luffy whined but ducked when a pole struck where he was moments ago
" I HEARD A VOICE IN THE WOODS IT WAS A KIDS VOICE "
Sabo said skedaddle
So ace and Sabo accidentally tripped luffy and ran away
Luffy was left behind and heard some things about Sabo and ace from this guy called porchemy who picked him up and actually held him down
Luffy couldn't move so he did the first thing he could think of " ACE HELP MEEEEEEE " beg for help
" You know ace? " the man asked and luffy replied " He's my friend oh but he tried to kill me just now... " he frowned
" Might as well ask huh? " he asked no one " Ace stole some money from us and ran off with it do you know where he is? "
Sabo and ace panicked " That idiot better not talk or this will be bad "
There was an immediate reply " No I am only 7 how would I know that I just got lost " luffy lied perfectly and realisticly ... lol
" You don't act like a 7 year old im gonna make you tell me " he said as he dragged luffy away
A little bit later and luffy was suspended midair by a rope
" I TOLD YOU I DO NOT KNOW! "
*SLAM * Porchemy slammed a massive hammer onto luffys left foot breaking it
Luffy screamed in agony and started breathing rapidly as he panicked but refused to give him more information which resulted in the man getting even worse
Porchemy put on some spiked gloves and he began to beat luffy
Meanwhile
"HURRY HURRY! WE ARE FINISHED IF PORCHEMY SHOWS UP WE ONLY HAVE A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE LUFFY GIVES US AWAY WE GOTTA MOVE THE TREASURE SOME WHERE ELSE! " Ace yelled out
" If they find this place, they won't just take back whatever we stole from them... ... they will take everything we have saved up to be pirates for the past five years!" Sabo exclaimed in a panicked voice
They heard a man call out " You wanna know where ace and Sabo are? Are you punks from the city? You should stay away from those two, for your own good, Trust me do not underestimate them just because they are small, they are mad dogs that can kill tigers!"
" Ace and Sabo haven't seen them, never mind those guys leave your valuables here with me. "
" it is already sundown , we have finished moving the treasure " ace talked to himself
" ACE! " Ace looked at Sabo " Sabo! What happened did they come back? " Sabo looked horrified when he said " NO! THEY NEVER DID! THAT LUFFY HE NEVER TALKED! " Ace was horrified at the suggestion
" HURRY UP TALK " Porchemy yelled as he struck luffy breaking the 16th bone that day
" P-P-P-PORCHEMY THERE IS NO POINT IN DOING THIS ANYMORE "
" HE DOENST EVEN HAVE THE ENERGY OR STRENGTH LEFT TO SCREAM , HE IS NOT GONNA TELL us ANYTHING AND THIS IS SO CRUEL I CAN NOT KEEP WATHCING IT"
" IF YOU HAVE THE TIME TO DEFEND THE KID THEN GO FIND ACE AND SABO, OUR LIVES ARE IN DANGER TOO " porchemy barked his order
" AWNSER ME " He smashed his fist into luffys face " I D-Do not know! " ... " you little rat! TELL ME WHAT YOU KNOW " He punched luffy in the ribs
" I DO NOT KNOW! " ... Porchemy lost all of his patience and went into a blind rage befitting a mad dog and he yelled as he unsheathed his blade " THEN DIE " he swung his blade at luffy right as ace and Sabo broke into the wall yelling " STOP! " When they looked at luffy they were horrified it was obvious that most of his ribs were probably broken but his nose was also broken but his worst injury was his arm which was completely bent the wrong way and to make it all worse he had cuts all over his body with blood leaking down his tattered clothes onto the floor
" PORCHEMY ITS THEM, THEY ARE THE ONES WHO STOLE OUR MONEY! "
Luffy whispered " Ace..." before he passed out
Luffy woke up 1 week later in dadan's house before he was told what happened and got scolded by dadan buy ignored her and he asked where ace was and one of the background bandits said that he just left so luffy got up and went to where they had hidden their treasure
He gets there and sees ace and Sabo talking
" HI ACE , SABO! " he yelled with a smile
Somehow he was already healed but he still had a broken arm
They looked at him with suprise before they both bowed and apologized
"... W-Why are you apologizing " he asked in general curiosity
" thank you " they said in perfect synchronization before Sabo took over " You barely know us but you protected our treasure ... Thank you "
Luffy grinned and cheekily spoke " Well It wouldn't hurt having a favor from future pirates would it "
This made the other two grin as well
They got more serious " But why would you do that " luffy quickly responded " If I told them where the treasure was then I could not be your friend anymore! Plus he was a bad guy "
Ace yelled " WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE FRIENDS WITH ME ANYWAY!? DO YOU NOT REMEMBER WHAT I DID TO YOU?! "
Luffy let out a tear " BECAUSE I GOT NOBODY ELSE! " This somewhat shocked and hurt the other 2 boys
" I WILL BE ALL ALONE i ... I don't want to be alone i hate it more then being hurt " 'after all grandpa always left me '
Ace asked " what about your parents?" And luffy awnsered with " I do not have any " ... " You ... you need me? "... " YEAH "
" Do you want me to be alive? "... " Of course! "
" okay "
A few moments later
" I'M GONNA BE STRONGER THEN ANYBODY I WILL PROTECT EVERYBODY!
" WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE!? WHY IS THERE ANOTHER KID HERE!? / ACE LUFFY WHO IS THAT!? "
" Hey you are dadan right? I am Sabo" ... " SABO I KNOW THAT NAME I HEARD YOU ARE A DIRTY LITTLE TROUBLE MAKER!/ I heard you are a nasty old hag "
" WHERE DID YOU HEAR THAT NONSENSE!? " "..." Ace and Luffy sweatdrop in fear
a few weeks later
throughout the next several months ( remember that I had luffy meet ace and Sabo in 9 days instead of the canon 3 months so he had extra time to get to know them ) they had many adventures one of the things they would do is spar and when it was Sabo vs ace they always tied or lost by 1 but whenever they fought luffy the score started as 10 to 40 or so in the big brothers favor but after all this , now it was normally 20 to 30 in the big brothers favor they had also started stealing food from the city but luffy had doubts , he didn't really like to steal but he got hungry so he had to
They had also learned new things such as sabo was a noble and ace was the pirate kings son ( yes I know its not revealed yet but i do not care)
They had announced their dreams to each other luffys being to make many friends and to be strong enough to protect them all
And Sabo and ace asked luffy about being a pirate and he said he isn't sure and that he simply wants to stop bad guys and have friends but at the same time he wants to be free
And then Sabo and ace argued about being captain
Afterwards they had become brothers so that way no matter where they were or if one day they were enemies they would still have a bond.
Sadly by living with bandits so long luffy got a much bigger appetite still not canon level though
And garp still appeared just to beat them from time to time
They had also made their own home for just the 3 of them
But one day Sabos dad came and forced Sabo to sacrifice himself for them
And luffy would forever remember sabos tears and 2 other things such as when the man was disgusted by their blood as if they were a lower species and the way Sabo sacrificed himself
' Are these people the ones marines are supposed to protect? ' this thought will be repeated in the future.
He would also forever regret that he thought that Sabo would come back if he was unhappy ' such a foolish thought '
The nobles and their disgusting allie bluejam burned down trash mountain nearly killing ace and luffy before they cut themselves free and started to run but they were cornered by bluejam who seemed insane probably due to being condemned to die by his allies
Luffy and ace fought Bluejams men and had beaten at least half of them but then luffys pipe broke and a blade grazed underneath luffys eye luckily it barely hit but it was enough to scare the shit out of ace so much that he unconsciously used haki and finished off the rest of the pirates and he was about to be shot but luffy smacked the gun out of bluejams hand and they had fought him together for several minutes until they were both on the ground unable to move but before bluejam could do anything he died courtesy to dadans sword in his heart
Dadan picked the 2 up and ran back home
The next morning they were all injured
Luffy had a new scar under his left eye
Ace had a few broken bones
And dadan was burnt all over
But that was the good news
The bad news
Sabo is dead
Ace and luffy didn't believe it and then it went to anger but they ended up accepting their loss and grieving
They lost their treasure and the last bit of sabos legacy
Sabo became luffys ocean and he began to see ace as the sun
And luffy had his goals solidified
" A-ace I WANT TO GET STRONGER ...I WANNA BE LOTS LOTS LOTS LOTS LOTS ... LOTS LOTS LOTS LOTS LOTS ... LOTS LOTS LOTS STRONGER "
( CANON lpamoubt of lots lol 13 times )
" SO THERE WILL NOT BE ANYTHING I CAN NOT PROTECT AND NOBODY WILL EVER HAVE TO GO AWAY AGAIN! ... SO PLEASE... DO NOT DIE ACE"
"DO NOT BE STUPID LUFFY , REMEMBER THIS LUFFY I AM NOT GONNA DIE! "
Flashfoward several weeks and ace and luffys bond has grown
Makino decided to teach both ace and luffy some manners
And surprisingly luffy was interested although he sucked at first and still will only use them if he wants to
A month later and luffy is 8
Garp visited but it was rather somber after he learned of sabos death
It was dark out and it was just luffy and garp camping for the night
" Hey grandpa " luffy asked quietly " Yeah luffy? " ... " What is a celestial dragon "
Garp explained
" T-t-thats stupid " he started tearing up " he died because of something stupid like that " garp comforted him for the first time if his life since he was a baby
A few minutes later
" grandpa do you think that if i became someone important in the marines ... that maybe I could change that ... like cut off the celestial dragons "
Garp was a little surprised at this but played it off with a laugh " maybe or maybe not I wouldn't mind if that happened though "
A few minutes later " grandpa please train me " ... garp was even more suprised since luffy always avoided his training and down right hated it but now he was asking for it
..." I need to be strong if I want to do anything and your strong so please I want to change things and ... I DONT WANNA LOSE ANYONE ELSE! "
" I will be happy to help you luffy " garp gave a fake smile ' i am so sorry luffy I should have been here I failed you '
So garp started training luffy for the next several years but most of the time he just gave luffy something to do when he left so it wasn't as fast as he would of liked but it was none the less progress
And ace wanted nothing to do with it and did his own thing
Ace left now luffy is 14 and the last time ace and luffy sparred was the day before aces departure and the score was 40-10 in luffys favor
Luffy made a vow to ace claiming that when they meet in the sea taht he wouldn't beat him up to bad and will make sure to bust him out of prison sometime.
But what luffy didn't tell ace was that he wasn't waiting until 17 to go out into the world ... no he was starting that now. Or at least to get some practice and real experience.
it was honestly pretty difficult to decide what to cut out and to write since I did not want to write to much of the canon story but I needed to write it in at least a little

Is she luffys or zoros
I'm conflicted since I love tashigi × zoro but at the same time I've seen so much zoro x tashigi I want to be original plus because of my idea with tashigi i think it would be cool to do her with luffy for originality and it never hurts to try something new but I am definitely unsure
