Day 4: Sargasso

Chapter Summary: Day 4 - Sargasso. Drabble. Sargasso would always be Rivet's home...

No matter how long she had lived on Sargasso, the wild planet always had a way to take her breath away.

Raging reds, purples, and oranges of the coming night collided with the fading greens, yellows, and blues of the day. The sounds of the gel plants powered down for the day, and the natural sounds and chirps of the native wildlife filled the silence. Speedles and Grunthors disappeared into their nests and hideaways, tucking away for the night.

On a stray building, most of it built into the side of a mountain, a lone Lombax sat on the edge of the roof.

Rivet leaned back, letting her legs dangle over the edge. Her hands tucked comfortably under her head. Large ears spread out against the cool titanium, picking up and twitching from the sounds of the nightlife.

It was the perfect time of twilight, when the brightness of the sun was turned down to a bearable level and warm colors painted the sky to welcome the stars.

"Mm… it's good to be home…"

There was no way she would leave Sargasso. The planet was more of a home to her than any other planet she had visited. It called out to her, and even though Cerulean City was finally being reconstructed from its time as Nefarious City, there was little Rivet wanted from any other place.

Sargasso was a part of her.

There were plenty of downsides to living on the planet, as there were for any planet. Acid swamps hindered one's travel, and wild Grunthors stalked the surface of the planet during the majority of the day. If one wasn't careful, they'd end up as a Grunthor's dinner before they saw the next sunrise.

That wasn't counting the weather changes that Sargasso had, or the lack of people, or the humidity that threatened to draw every ounce of water out of one's body…

Rivet wouldn't change any of it for the universe.

There were so many positives. The Morts were one, and Rivet wouldn't leave them for any number of bolts. Chasing said Grunthors and selling their souls to a kind seller that visited the planet with his blue parrot was the highlight of living in the wilderness. A plethora of resources, especially gelatonium and Raritanium, were all scattered around the planet. It gave anyone the things they needed in order to craft valuable items and leave the planet if they needed to.

Sargasso was a gift that made sure to give back to the creatures that lived on it.

A musky scent drew into Rivet's nose as the Lombax took a deep breath in. There was a sharp acidic tang to the air, but that was to be expected.

Every muscle in her body relaxed at the smell of her home.

As time drew on, the night began to creep over the planet's surface. Stars began to dot the darkening sky, spaced out at first, then appearing closer together. Familiar constellations caught Rivet's attention, and the Lombax pieced together the sky's pictures as more stars filled the void of night.

No one could see the stars like this if they were on any other planet.

Rivet closed her eyes, soaking in the serenity of the moment. When she opened them again, she found a night sky full of stars blanketing her, revealing a window into the universe around her.

This was it. This was her home, and it always would be. There was nothing that could draw her away from this, no fancy light shows or promises that could take away Sargasso's natural magic.

Rivet settled in, waiting for the start of the meteor shower the Morts had talked about earlier in the day. Blue eyes latched onto the falling stars.

A beautiful Sargasso night for a Sargasso Lombax.

"Heh… home sweet home…"
