"XJ0461!"
His little antenna perked up as his number was called yet again as he ran as quickly as he could across the hallway. It was rather difficult though with the collection of holo-pads in his arms. He was doing his best to make it on time while not dropping a single one. The last thing he wanted was for one to break and be punished for it!
"I am almost there, Dr. Ramara." He managed to slow himself down just in time as he stopped right in front of the blargian scientist. The doctor scooped up the pads and set them across her table in order to continue her work. "Thank you, XJO461. I knew keeping you around was a good idea."
The robot had a delighted smile form as he awaited patiently for his next task. He truly was lucky to have Dr. Ramara given she had saved him from the trash compactor he was designated too. XJ0461 was meant to be another large and powerful security bot for the space station but a minor power outage had resulted in his creation instead. The robot didn't know what was going on when scientists started dragging him off and ignoring his questions. That is until Dr. Ramara stepped in and spoke to them. All of a sudden he was being handed off to her! Now here he was being her personal assistant and XJ0461 couldn't be happier. If there was a way for him to help his blargian creators, he'd gladly take it.
"XJO461, I'm going to be stuck cycling through these holo-pads for the next hour or two. Make yourself useful and take these planetary files to Chairman Drek." Dr. Ramara motioned to the other side of the room where a pile of files laid scattered about. "I was suppose to have them on his desk thirty minutes ago but ah, my mind gets so easily distracted with projects."
A small amused chuckle parted from the robot as he walked to fetch the files from their spot. Dr. Ramara sure did a lot of work around here. Repairing security bots, building blargian gadgets, and keeping the space station up and running! It was certainly a lot. "Do not worry, Dr. Ramara. I will have the files on Chairman Drek's desk in approximately nine minutes. He does not return from lunch until ten minutes after." XJ0461 was already out the door and on his way to the elevator. He might even be able to make it in eight!
As the elevator doors shut XJ0461 shuffled a bit as he tried to keep a hold of the files. His green optics observed his quickly shifting environment as he ascended towards the top part of the space station. A part of him did wonder what the blargian space station was for, as it's purpose had yet to be revealed to him given his newly created state. The robot had to assume it was for intergalactic travel and exploration! That was a logical reason to devise such a large space station.
He is taken out of his thoughts as the elevator doors open up to reveal Chairman Drek's lavish personal office. Eyes widened at the sight of all the golden decor and monitors that littered the office space. Chairman Drek really was at the top of the top when it came to the blargs. A quick glance at the nearby clock told him he had exactly four minutes before the chairman arrived. How wonderful. The robot's little feet clicked and clanked against the carpet floor as he made his way towards the imposing desk. Unfortunately for him there was a small bent in the carpet that XJ0461 failed to take notice of due to the files blocking a bit of his vision. Before he knew it he tumbled down onto the ground and files scattered everywhere. "Oh no!" He cried as he quickly scrambled back up and started gathering up all the papers he could.
No no, he was going to be behind schedule now! Chairman Drek would arrive before he could make it look all neat and tidy! What would he say? It would look so unprofessional! Would he report it to Dr. Ramara? Oh, he hopes not. He doesn't want to be punished for th-
The small bot stopped picking up the fallen papers as his eyes actually started to read what was on them. A look of confusion slowly spread across his metallic features as he switched to another sheet. This...this couldn't be right. These papers were documenting planets that were designated for...destruction. Populated planets.
"I do not understand..." A part of him told him to put them all back and get the heck out of the office but he choose to ignore that. So many questions were flooding his mind and XJ0461 didn't know where to start. Why were populated planets being marked for destruction? What was Gadgetron? What's a Deplanetizer? Eyes widened in horror as he reached Tenemule's paper. It had just recently been destroyed. Just a few hours...before his creation. The bot turned towards the desk before looking back to the elevator. This...this was horrible. This was wrong. Why would Chairman Drek do something like this? Why? He had to warn Dr. Ramara. But...what if she knew? What if she was helping him do this as well? XJ0461 could feel his heart sinking at the mere thought of it. He didn't want that to be a possibility but logic woul-
The bot froze in place as he heard the elevator door ping open and out came the chairman himself. He was looking quite pleased with himself though that quickly went away at the sight of the small defect with a bunch of files scattered on the floor. Suspicions quickly shot up as Chairman Drek carefully reached for his blargian laser gun. Drek didn't know who or where this little scrapheap came from but it was about to be dead in a matter of seconds. XJ0461 seemed to catch onto that as well and opened his chest vent to shove the papers in. The robot let out a terrified cry as he ducked down and tumbled from the incoming blast of Drek's gun. The carpet quickly caught fire as XJO461 stumbled back onto his feet and started to run. His green eyes were deadset on the nearby vent to escape. Of course Drek wasn't having any of that.
"Where do you think you're going, robot?" Drek narrowed his eyes viciously as he took aim and waited for just the right moment. XJ0461's fingers clung to the vent and attempted to pry them open, making a decent amount of success as he tried to keep an eye on Drek. The growing fire didn't help matters.
BANG. The sound of the laser making contact with XJ0461's left arm delighted the chairman. Good. That should keep him from escaping his office room-
Drek looked on angrily as he managed to spot the robot just barely squeezing him into the small opening he had made for himself. Little sparks could be seen from within the vent however, no doubt due to the damage he had done to the arm. A frustrated yell came from the chairman as he rushed over to the PA system, ignoring the fire completely.
"Attention ALL security bots and blarg personal, we have a small robot loose in the vents! Find it and shoot it on sight! Crush it, stomp it, tear it apart! Do NOT let it leave our station alive or else YOU'LL be next!" Chairman drek took his finger off the button before rushing off to find a fire extinguisher before everything else went up in flames.
The sound of a buzzing alarm terrified the little damaged robot as he scampered through the vents. He had to get out of here! He had to warn people! Chairman Drek was destroying entire worlds! A yelp came from the robot as laser blasts pierced through the vent. Through the burnt holes he could see his fellow security bots locking their target reticles on him and taking aim. XJ0461 did his best to dodge and weave around them while his arm continued to spark and dangle with little control. He had to reach the emergency escape pods! It was the only way to get out alive! The robot let out a terrified cry as the vent proceeded to collapse from all the damage that had been done to it. XJ0461 tumbled onto the metal ground and looked back to see his much larger and more powerful counterparts approaching. Most of them were already aiming and charging up their blasters. He scrambled to his feet and ran towards the nearest elevator which thankfully wasn't too far from his current location. The bot jumped out of the way of a few laser blasts and ducked from another.
His fist slammed against the close button just seconds after reaching the elevator. Quite a few security bots hit against it as they all piled up against each other mindlessly. XJ0461 didn't waste any time in hitting the emergency pod floor button and ventured down just as the security bots were starting to break through the glass. For a brief moment the smaller grey robot could collect himself. He let out a sigh of relief as the elevator sped downwards to the fifteen floor. His non-broken arm tightened into a fist as he awaited for the elevator to stop and the doors to open. He was going to escape this. He had too. Not just for himself but for the people of the Solana system.
XJ0461 dove out of the way as a few blargian security officers barged into the elevator and attempted to nab him. Another took a few shots with his weapon and only just barely missed the robot as he ran his way towards the nearest escape pod.
"He's getting away! Stop him! Chairman Drek's gonna kill us if we don't!" One of them shouted fearfully. A nearby mechanic even attempted to slip the robot up by chucking his oversized wrench at him. Just out the corner of his eye was he able to spot it coming and XJ0461 managed to leap over the swirling wrench just in time. The robot managed to successfully get himself into an escape pod and immediately started to type away at the controls with his right hand. He had to begin take off right now! He wouldn't even have time to close the shuttle door, especially because the officers were already taking their guns and blasting at the pod to ruin its thrusters
"Please...please...activate!" XJ0461 slammed his hand onto the big red button and found himself thrusted back into the seat as the engine ignited and shot him off. The blargian officers all screeched and ran back in order to not be engulfed into flames. XJ0461 sighed as he worked to close the shuttle door and take full control over the escape pod. He had to make out of this part of the sector and find someone he could warn. The bot was alerted as an artifical voice chimed in.
Warning : Thrusters have undergone sufficient damage and prolong use will result in engine failure. Please pull into your nearest blargian repair shop and pay them bolts to fix it...otherwise you will die.
"Oh dear..." Here's hoping he can land onto a planet before that happens. Let's see if he can find out which one is the closest.
"You don't look so confident, my boy. Don't tell me you're bringing me bad news." Drek spoke through gritted teeth as he sat in his chair. The room smelled like burnt carpet and his poor hand-made carpet laid to the side, almost unrecognizable from the fire. The blargian officer was a shaking and nervous mess as he looked onto his boss. "W-Well sir, I uh...I re-regret to inform you that the r-robot managed to escape. H-He used an emergency es-escape pod and got out b-before we could destroy the thrust-" The officer didn't even get to finish his sentence as Drek angrily blasted him right in the face with his gun. The officer fell to the floor as green blood trinkled out. Drek's lips dipped down into a dissatisfied frown as he leaned back into his chair. Idiots. All of them! Couldn't even kill one tiny robot! He even made it easy for them by damaging one of his arms! A finger pressed onto his PA system before speaking into it.
"Ahem! Attention all members of our station. I have three announcements to make! Cleaning crew, come up to my office and clean up the mess in here pronto. Officers, you're all fired for incompetence. Your replacements will be arriving shortly." Souless blue eyes glanced over to the security tape, watching as XJ0461 exited Dr. Ramara's office.
"Security bots, execute Dr. Ramara for treachery." Chairman Drek smiled as he turned to his camera footage and watched as he saw the doctor in question frantically rush out of her office door. She didn't even make it to the elevator.
Serves her right. Thanks to her he has a little bot problem to take care of now.
