The next morning, as students were about to start with their breakfast, Dumbledore stood up walking towards the podium announcing "Attention Students! Now before you get busy in your classes, I would like to inform you that the Traditional Yule Ball which is a staple of the Tri-wizard Tournament will be held on the 22nd of December. If any students who do not know how to dance can attend classes given by Professor McGonagall and Babbling. Good day to all of you" with that he left the hall through the door behind the staff table.
The announcement of the ball presented a dilemma for Harry and that being he is not a good dancer and as he turned his attention to his girlfriend seating beside him she was beaming at him he returned it.
Before he could say anything to her a sixth-year Ravenclaw boy came to them at Gryffindor table looked at Fleur asking "Ms. Delacour will you do me honor by going to Yule Ball with me?"
She chuckled seeing Harry's gaze turning murderous at the Ravenclaw boy before turning to the said boy replying curtly "Merci Monsieur for your offer but Non, I already 'ave a date"
Roger cocked his head asking "And who would that be?"
She once again beamed at Harry saying "Why Of course my boyfriend" as she took Harry's hand in her gesture made him smile.
Roger was not a guy to take a hint or in this instance take a clear no to his face which was evident when as he in an amused voice saying " Are sure Ms. Delacour you deserve to be with a real man not a scrawny kid like him" throwing a sneer at Harry.
He made a mistake which he was oblivious of it but Hermione and Harry's other friends were shaking their heads dreading the boy's fate. It was known by everyone how protective they were for each other and he just insulted Harry Potter in front of Fleur Delacour! In an instant, she was standing in front of him with her wand pointing at the middle of Roger's eyes faster than the eyes can follow. Her forearms were covered with feathers showing the signs of her second form as she warned him in a threatening tone "Never insult moi Boyfriend in front of me ever again or I will make you impotent you batard"
The whole hall gasped at the events they were witnessing all this. Beauxbatons students were mildly shocked as they knew about Fleur's heritage while Hogwarts and Drumstrang were shocked the first time seeing a partially transformed veela in front of them.
All this while their friends in all the school at that moment were hoping the boy understands the message. But what happened to was the exact opposite of what they hoped for as despite Roger proving he was the dumbest person at that moment and it was clear by the word he said next "I am not afraid of you disgusting creature! You should be proud that I Heir of House Davis! I am a pureblood and you are nothing but veela! Your place is on you knees li….." that was as far as he got cause the temperature in Grand Hall dropped to a freezing temperature. He felt the air around him trying to crush him down he was barely able to breathe.
The ambient magic of the castle crackled as every stone in the castle thrummed and so did the grounds of the school. Everyone from humans to magical creatures felt it. In the Great hall, everyone was confused about everything that was happening. Only people who knew were seating at Gryffindor's table. The House Quidditch team along with Hermione and Neville knew were staring at him.
He was simply staring at Roger in anger not knowing what effect it had on the hall let alone the castle. As he stood up without moving his eyes off Roger. He put a hand on the boy's shoulder and looked him in his eyes saying "Never insult Fleur ever again or.." He didn't end simply letting it hang. This sent a shiver down Roger's spine.
His attention was broken by a whimper coming from beside him, he turned to see Fleur who was shivering in the cold. Thinking that she was not well, he asked concerned tone "Fleur are you okay? Should we go to Poppy?"
Just like that all of a sudden temperature was back to normal as he moved to Fleur taking this opportunity, Roger ran out of the Hall.
That's when Professor Flitwick came down from the staff table towards them saying "Ms. Delacour I would like to apologize for the bigot behavior of one from one of my house students"
She smiled saying "It's okay Professor I don't 'old you responsible for 'ow ze child is raised by zere parents"
McGonagall was just behind half-goblin professor. She stopped in front of Harry saying in a stern voice "That was an admirable thing you did there still threaten violence in the presence of all the faculty for that, 30 points from Gryffindor" above the red sand in the Gryffindor house hour glass decreased.
At the Staff table Professor sprout stood up announcing "And on that Matter for showing unwavering loyalty and defending the honor of our guest, 50 points to Gryffindor" the sand in the hourglass increased.
McGonagall's lip curled a little before she and Flitwick returned to Head table.
Fleur looked at him with a smile before shaking her head and caressing his cheek, saying "I am okay mon Amor just felt a leetle chilly wind"
He sighed in relief smiling "I will meet you later okay I have to go to class" he did a half-turn before turning back and saying "Oh! I just remembered I wanted to ask you something" Fleur gave him a confused look.
He knelt on the spot stretching his hand to her asking "Will you go to the ball with me?" every girl in the crowd cooed except Susan who was holding back silent tears in her eyes. While Ice queen of house Slytherin Daphne Greengrass felt a pang of jealousy in her heart which surprised her. She was attracted to Potter but she never made a move fearing he rejected her because of his hatred of all Slytherins. She blamed the pounce of her house.
But she never felt jealous before but for the last two weeks, she felt horrible whenever she saw him with the French champion.
Fleur chuckled shaking her head at her boyfriend's antics she nodded saying "Oui, I will Love to go to Ball wiz you, Mon Amour" taking his hand.
Standing up as he beamed at his girlfriend as he pecked her on the lips and ran out of the hall. Leaving a very flushed and embarrassed Fleur behind,
Fleur shook her embarrassment off as she turned to Hermione with a questioning look on her face. Bushy-haired witch gathered her things for class and before leaving looked at her saying "I know, meet me in the library an hour before lunch at I will tell you what I know" with that she left for her class and so did Fleur.
Library at 12:00 Pm
After her class, Fleur made a run to Library. She was gasping for air entering the library.
She observed as she was searching for Hermione only to see the students mostly Ravenclaws with their heads buried in the books.
Going further at the end of the room she found Hermione with stacks of books and stacks of parchment all around her. She approached the table asking " 'Ermione?"
Hermione lifted her head to look at her only to smile as she gestured her to take a seat across her. Returning the smile Fleur took the seat asking "Why are you surrounded by ze books? Are you researching something?"
Hermione shook her head "No, just trying to find something to help Harry in figuring what that screeching noise was from the egg and what is the clue"
Fleur looked at her in disbelief as she asked " 'Ermione do you 'ave feelings for 'Arry?"
"What!?" Hermione snapped before chuckling and saying "I love him Fleur but not in a romantic kind of way" she sighed and leaned back in the chair continuing "Before I got here at Hogwarts I went to muggle school where I was bullied and called names for my love of books, I was bullied for following the rules to the tea and I had no friends besides my mum" she smiled wistfully.
"Being an only child with no friends I pestered my parents for a sibling but she couldn't cause she was rendered infertile due to a car accident" she was watery-eyed as she continued "I didn't understand it back then but they explained it before I got here and I was mortified thinking a guilt I cause my mum unknowingly" as she wiped her eyes.
She smiled saying "But all that changed when I came here and met Harry. He was closed off the first time I meet him and a right mess. We were this close by instantly but after he saved me from a troll that broke into the castle we became best friends and over the last three years, we became siblings in all but blood. So I love him as a brother"
Fleur smiled saying "I am glad 'e 'as a sister who is so dedicated to 'im and seeing to it zat he survives everything zat is thrown at 'im"
"I will see that he does and don't let him down Fleur he loves you. So keep be with him and he will treat you like a princess is treated by her knight"
This made Fleur remember what happened back in Great Hall that was after all the reason she came here and so she asked "So what 'appened in the morning with 'Arry? I mean 'ow did the temperature drop and rise in instant?"
Hermione's smile got wider according to Fleur before she started " I don't know everything but I will tell you what I do know" getting a nod she continued "You see Harry is very protective about people he cares about and minds you he is protective, not possessive or obsessive, he will never force anyone to be his friend. But for those who are his friends, he will move mountains. That brings us to his mysterious power, I felt it when people would call me names and he would intimidate them without even knowing. I have observed it over time since my first years"
"But it changed the first day of the World cup"
Fleur's eyes widened in realization as Hermione continued "First day we made to the campsite after we set up our camp he and Ron were sent to fetch water from tap"
Fleur cut it in saying "zat is when I met him or crashed into him for the first time"
Hermione smiled nodding "Yes I figured cause when he returned he had a stupid grin on his face" Fleur chuckled and she continued, "I think he was already floored then and there cause the next morning was very interesting" tent.
At this French champion cocked her eyebrow in interest but didn't let Hermione continue "You see next morning at breakfast Ron's eldest brother who might have seen you during his stroll around the campsite made it known that he was planning to 'woo' you" Fleur's face grimaced at thought of the dating redhead boys elder brother. If his table manners were any indication he would be only worst.
"That's when Harry did what he did this morning. The room became cold but not as cold as today while that happened magic which was Harry's own and not ambient magic was cackling in the air. The situation was too tense I had to tease him about you to get him to stop but do you know what is most interesting"
Fleur shook her head "Non"
Hermione smiled "OH God you are gonna love him even more now! You see he did all of this unknowingly! That means mere thought of you dating Bill made his magical instinct go on the defensive"
Fleur's eyes widened "Non, zat can't be we didn't even know each ozzer zat well by then"
Hermione shook her head chuckling and saying "I know but his magic reacted and made it so that everyone, especially, Bill knew not to pursue you. He doesn't know about any of it be it this morning or that day at the world cup campsite"
Fleur was sat there gobsmacked as once again she had proof of how much Harry loved her and smiled how lucky she is "I am lucky, Non?"
Hermione snorted "Non you are luckiest" both chuckled before making their way to Great Hall
The conversation erased every trace of doubt Fleur had in her mind. She was happy that she crashed into Harry that day. But she suddenly groaned thinking that he would dote at her sister as he does on Hermione which in turn meant he will spoil Gabrielle rotten.
The Evening of the Ball
Harry was nervous cause tonight he will have to dance with Fleur and he didn't want to be embarrassed by stepping on her leg in front of the hall.
He was wearing his dress robes at all which Sirius picked up which were not robes it was a muggle Tuxedo with a Forest green silk shirt. He loved his eyes as they always reminded him of his mother but not the shirt. Still, he couldn't change it so he sighed in defeat and hoped Fleur likes him in these clothes, he headed to the common room.
As he came down he saw Neville who was wearing black dress robes with a navy blue shirt. He greeted him saying "Hey mate looking good in those"
Neville looked at him in shock "Blimey! mate, you look good!"
Harry chuckled and was relieved that he was looking good "Thanks mate, I will have to thank Sirius that is if Fleur likes them or else I will kill him" this made Neville chuckle.
That's when both of them heard the voice descending steps from the boy's dorm. They turned to look at the dorm stairs only to see Ron was descending wearing his dress robes which had frills on them. Both had the most difficult time controlling their laughter but failed so ran out of the common room laughing while holding their hurting stomach.
They both made their way to the entrance of Grand hall multiple guys waiting for their dates and they joined the fray. Among the crowd, they found Fred & George, Colin Creevey, and Viktor Krum.
While waiting he looked at the main arch of the castle and nothing, but he turned hearing a collective gasp of the group as he turned to where they were looking he also gasped seeing Alicia, Angelina, Katie, and Ginny were to descend all of them looked beautiful but his gasp was caused of by Hermione who was looking stunning in a periwinkle colored dress with her hairdo that's when he heard a throat clear.
He turned, only to see a view that took his breath away it was his date. Fleur was wearing a silver off-shoulder gown that glittered and was hugging her curves while a slit ran up to the middle of her right thigh. Her open hair on the shoulder and she had put blood red lipstick which was a great contrast to her baby blue eyes, he was rendered speechless and his heart skipped a beat.
Fleur looked at his expression with a smirk saying " 'Ello 'Arry"
Her voice made him regain his composure and reply "I have no word you look stunning"
Fleur blushed as she came closer to him straightening his collar and a little crooked tie saying "You don't look bad yourself either Mr. Potter" before kissing him. Then headed toward the entrance of the hall swaying her hip intentionally and looking back to him she said haughtily "aren't you coming 'Arry?"
He smiled making a run to her side as McGonagall called them "Champions please line up for the first dance"
Following the instructions Hermione, who was Krums date to Harry's shock, lined up and both Harry and Fleur stood behind them entering the hall which was mostly ice-themed and had a fog up to knee-length it was beautiful.
They made the to the middle of the hall. With music, they started the dancing and as they did they forgot everything around them as they lost themselves in the rhythm.
Fleur smiled complimenting him "Wow 'Arry you are dancing better zan you were saying, see as I said you were worrying for nothing"
He sighed in relief saying "Well you can thank Professor Babbling for that afterward" and they spent the most beautiful evening of their life
The next morning it was time for departure for those who were going home for Christmas and so the dorms were in chaos as everyone was hurrying in the bid of not missing the train. Harry, on the other hand, had a habit of bringing prepared and today he also had a reason as he had to pick up his girlfriend from her carriage to Hogsmeade to catch the train on time, he took a quick shower making his way to the Carriages.
As he reached the main castle gate he saw Fleur waiting for him he ran as fast as he can dragging his trunk along in the snow-covered path and reaching her he hugged her "I told you I was coming why are you out its bloody freezing out here, you are shivering!"
He broke apart only to see her smile at him "Oui, you said zat but I wanted to walk wiz you to ze station Train is scheduled to leave for 'our an 'alf"
Harry shook his head not convinced and still concerned he protested he saying "But you are freezing!"
Fleur had a mischievous smile as she pressed her body against him rubbing her chest to his causing him to go red as she purred in his ears "Now I am not cold am I?"
That sent a shiver down is spine she took a step back smiling coyly and saying "Zanks for 'eating me up 'Arry"
He didn't say anything instead started to pull his trunk. Seeing this Fleur started laughing as she asked him " 'Arry love, you are a wizard oui?"
Harry looked at her quizzically before nodding she continued "Zen why are you pulling your trunk like muggle when you can do this" she pulled out her wand shrinking the trunk and putting the feather-light charm on it, he watched dumbly before exclaiming "I could have saved so much time and effort if I knew that before!"
She simply chuckled looping his hand with her saying "We should get going or we will miss the train" he nodded. Both of them started walking on the path that led them to Hogsmeade. They reached the station 45 minutes later.
They were the first to arrive as such they chose the compartment on the train which was at the end. They snogged until they were joined by their friends who were mostly Hermione, Neville, and the rest of the Gryffindor quidditch team who almost walked in them and teased them a bit and they started a game of exploding snaps.
It was halfway through the journey was when all of them were pretty much drifting in and out of sleep the compartment door opened by Draco Malfoy with his goons Goyle, Crabbe, Nott, and his girlfriend Pansy. Everyone was brought to attention in an instance and groaned all except Harry who was still in deep sleep on Fleur's shoulder who was also asleep but didn't move as she didn't want to wake him up
"Look what we have here, a mudblood, a creature, and several blood traitors, oh and our dear school champion cheater, Potter!" Malfoy spat. Trying to get arise out of everyone but everyone knew he was all talk but seeing the numbers of people with him all of them were awake and alert. They didn't react to his bait simply instead all of them remained impassive.
Draco was infuriated so he turned to Nott saying "Nott didn't you say you would love to have a veela down on you? Well there she is taking what belongs to you" gesturing at sleeping from of Fleur.
With a smirk on his face, Nott moved into the compartment heading towards his target.
Hermione took her wand out pointing it on side of his temple warning the auburn-haired Slytherin "Do not do that cause you will not survive the results"
Form behind all Slytherins were pointing their wands at her. Nott smirked saying "And what if I did? Who is going to do anything about it?" Hermione smirked saying "Count you Wands Nott then count ours. I don't think odds are in your favor"
"Oh but that's where you are the wrong mudblood your numbers are not going to hold up against our superior power and family spell. So you see our wands are more powerful than yours" Pansy retorted
Hermione once more smirked saying "Well you believe that but even if what you say was true and trust me that is a big if still, you will not survive to brag that you defeated the whole compartment of Gryffindor students"
"Oh, and why is that Mudblood?" Draco asked.
Hermione gave an evil smile saying "Wow you are a bigger idiot than I thought. You were there at the night yule ball was announced and something weir happened, weren't you" all the Slytherins nodded at and she continued "Well that was Harry's doing"
"That was Half blood's doing? Now you are just spouting nonsense mudblood" Nott asked him daring her to continue her what he believed was a lie.
"Well if you think I am lying about it then shoot the first spell, we will fight and if again a big IF cause right now my friends of all the houses are behind you so our numbers increased" her statement made Draco look behind him only to see Susan Bones and Daphne Greengrass standing their wands pointing at the back of the necks of Goyle and Crabbe. Behind them stood Tracy Davies, Hannah Abbot, Blaise Zabini, and Luna Lovegood.
"Now to my main point. IF you in a cart filled by Gryffindors manage to touch lady right here, well you will be dead"
"You talk so high but you can't back it up cause you know that Potty won't be able to do anything. So I call you bluff" Draco challenged.
"Malfoy thinks about it do you want to take a chance at this? Cause once you do decide to go on with your plan we will be least of you worries cause if by some miracle you survive us" she gestured at around the compartment while still keeping her wand in place, continuing "the woman you intended to grope has a boyfriend who is sleeping on her shoulder. Don't take it lightly but our school's mote applies to him every aptly, 'Never tickle a sleeping dragon' cause if you do Merlin would have to beg him not to kill you and even then you will die so take a hint and bugger off with your life!" ever hostile Slytherin did audibly gulped and retreated. But before that Draco sneered saying "My father will hear about this" he spat and turned to throw a glare of revenge as he mouthed 'I will see you later at Daphne. She simply returned the glare for the glare.
"So Harry is a dragon huh?" Susan asked entering the compartment with others following her and sitting in an expanded compartment. Hermione nodded chuckling and saying "Yep, he is when it comes to her" gesturing towards Fleur at this whole compartment stifled laughter and after some time went back to sleep but before they locked the door of their compartment.
As the train came to stop at platform no 9 3/4 King Cross Station all of them left the compartment and made their way to leave the train as they did the Weasley family stormed towards the group.
Molly hugged Harry saying "Oh! Harry dear it's so great to see you again, Come on let's go home you look tired and must be hungry I will make you some of your favorites"
He was happy to see her but he wanted to go with Sirius who he knew was on the other side of Barrier "I am sorry Mrs. Weasley I am going to celebrate Christmas with Sirius this year"
Molly looked at him in shock but hid it under her smile saying "Oh don't worry dear it's okay you can always come over in summer" she gestured for Twins to follow her as Ron and Ginny were still on the train so they waited. While Harry, Fleur, and Hermione made their way to the Barrier's other side and found Sirius waiting for them
Harry was excited to see his godfather after last time when he was at the infirmary to see him and also had to take revenge for his prank when he told him Fleur kissed him.
Sirius saw them coming in his direction he was happy that he can finally spend some time with his Godson and also seeing Fleur he gave a knowing smile to the young couple "Hey Pup, so how was the ride?"
Harry shrugged "Pretty boring slept all the way still tired for some reason"
Sirius turned to Fleur "And I think Ms. Delacour is our guest as your girlfriend?" both of them blushed Sirius had a good laugh saying "Pup if you are that easy it's going to be a great Christmas this year" wiping his tears.
Fleur smirked "Laugh all you want Lord Black at least 'Arry has a girlfriend"
Sirius was shocked out of his glee as he looked mock hurt saying "First it Sirius, Ms. Delacour and that's a low blow, come on let's go"
So they left the station and made it to a nearby apparition point in the alley Sirius turned to both of them "Okay so we are going to side along apparate any experience in that?" Fleur nodded in agreement and Harry shook implying opposite, he continued "Okay Pup, hold my hand and Ms. Delacour If you will please hold my other hand" as they did three of them vanished from the alley with a *POP* sound
Only to reappear with similar *Pop* sound in front of the apartment building which looked like Muggle from outside. While Sirius and Fleur were standing, Harry was hurling vomit saying "Cedric was Right" which was the source of laughter for the other two.
Once he was over Harry looked at both of them narrow-eyed before saying "Ya Ya laugh it up"
After calming down somewhat, Sirius handed a note with 'Grimmauld Place No.12' written on it saying "Read and remember it"
Both of them obeyed and as they did a building appeared out of nowhere to in between 11 & 13 numbered one in awe but all three headed forward but Sirius stopped them and took out his wand murmuring something and once finished said "Just adding both you to the wards" and headed in.
Sirius opened the door announcing "Welcome Home, Pup!"
