Chapter 33: The Girl From America

"Bakura!" Jonouchi shouted, the others dashing back to the dueling arena.

"Everyone." the white-haired boy blinked, watching over the newly awakened Mokuba.

"You're awake, Mokuba?" Jonouchi noticed the younger boy.

"Mokuba, the seal has been removed." Yuugi supplied.

"Where's my big brother?" Mokuba asked. "Where is my big brother at?"

"Probably..." Ami started.

"Pegasus-sama has been sent away to the hospital." Croquet relayed to the teens. "Take this." he presented a card to Yuugi. "A card called 'The Ties of Friendship'. Pegasus-sama told me to give this to Muto Yuugi. You guys did well in your duels. This is the prize money." he handed over a sealed envelope. "Then, please excuse me."

"Yuugi, Ami, the seal on Mokuba was broken." Anzu turned to the cousins. "Could it be..."

"Grandpa must be..." Yuugi beamed at Ami.

After returning to Domino City...

"Who's that?" Jonouchi blinked, the group was walking Sugoroku back to Kame Game Shop when they spotted Rebecca at the shop entrance. "Someone we know?"

"You Muto Sugoroku?" Rebecca asked, pulling her luggage along.

"I am." Sugoroku replied. "And you are?"

"My name is Rebecca." Rebecca answered. "I arrived here this morning from America. You guys are so slow. What's the meaning of keeping a lady waiting?"

"Lady!?" Yuugi and Ami echoed.

"What's that?" Rebecca fumed. "Aren't I a lady?"

"Then, why are you coming all the way to Japan by yourself?" Jonouchi inquired. "What are you here for?"

"Goddamn." Rebecca cursed. "I don't speak to impolite people like this guy. Right, Teddy-chan?" she chimed to the teddy bear in her arms.

"Rebecca, what did you want to talk to me about?" Sugoroku asked.

"Give it back." Rebecca demanded. "Give back the 'Blue Eyes White Dragon'. Hurry and give it back. It's mine."

"That card's..." Anzu recalled Kaiba had shredded the card.

"'Blue Eyes White Dragon' was an American super rare card." Rebecca informed. "It's only right that, I, America's number one strongest, should have it."

"America's number one strongest?" Sugoroku echoed.

"That's right." Rebecca declared. "Because I'm the U.S Champion."

"Is this some kind of joke?" Honda was skeptical.

"There's no mistake about it." Ami suddenly remembered where she had seen Rebecca. "I saw her in a magazine before. 'Winning the American Championship at the tender age of twelve, a genius duelist who had stirred up quite a commotion'." she recited the article title.

"Now, this damn cocky girl is the U.S Champion?" Jonouchi whispered. "Are you kidding me?"

"What?" Rebecca fumed. "Are you insulting me, the U.S Champion?"

"Shut it." Jonouchi retorted. "I won second place in the Duelist Kingdom."

"Right, now risen from number 8 to number 2." Honda ribbed.

"Who's side are you on anyway?" Jonouchi glared at his best friend.

"I know all that." Rebecca retorted. "The number one at Duelist Kingdom is Muto Yuugi. And second place is Katsuya Jonouchi. Anyone who's not number one ain't important."

"Don't you look down on me!" Jonouchi roared, Honda grabbing the blond back from throttling the girl.

"Rebecca, the 'Blue Eyes White Dragon' is an important card to me." Sugoroku explained.

"Of course it is." Rebecca snorted. "You came all the way to America just to steal it."

"Stole?" Yuugi echoed. "Rebecca, there must be some misunderstanding. Grandpa wouldn't..."

"But I was told by Bandit King Keith that someone stole the Blue Eyes." Rebecca informed.

"That sentence alone answers so many questions and equally opens so many inquiries." Ami shook her head.

"That idiot." Jonouchi slapped his forehead. "Why'd he say something like that?"

"Anyway, the Blue Eyes belongs to me, the U.S Champion." Rebecca insisted. "Give it back."

"Rebecca, that card..." Yuugi started.

"What?" Rebecca pouted. "I get it. You don't want to return it, is that right? Then, let's fight for it. With a duel. Muto Sugoroku, if I win, you have to return the Blue Eyes. Is that clear? Let's head to the duel ring. Hurry up."

"Somehow, I just know it'd boil down to this." Ami sighed. "What do we do?" she looked at her grandfather and cousin.

In the dueling arena in Kaiba Land...

"'Witch of the Black Forest', Attack Mode." Rebecca started off first.

"'Celtic Guardian', attack." Yuugi sent out 'Celtic Guardian'. "Witch of the Black Forest is defeated."

"When 'Witch of the Black Forest' is sent to the graveyard, a monster of 1500 attack or less can be added to my hand." Rebecca recited. "And then, the deck is reshuffled. 'Sangan' in attack mode." she placed her next card.

"Rebecca, I'm going to attack." Yuugi reminded, using 'Celtic Guardian' to take out 'Sangan'.

"He defeated my 'Sangan' again and sent it to the graveyard." Rebecca whined.

"You weren't going to win anyway." Yuugi fumed.

"Due to 'Sangan's effect, I get to take a monster from the deck." Rebecca drew a card. "It's my turn now."

"The atmosphere just changed." Yuugi realized Rebecca has been just sending out feelers.

"Magic Card: Tribute to the Doomed." Rebecca played her card. "It can destroy a monster by sacrificing a card in my hand." she took out 'Celtic Guardian' after discarding a card. "Destroyed 'Celtic Guardian'. Then, I'll put this card in standby Defense Mode. It's gonna get more interesting from now on out. I will get back the 'Blue Eyes White Dragon'."

It's like she's a totally different person. Yuugi mused. If I don't pay attention, I'll be in trouble. "My turn." he played his next card. "'Summoned Skull', attack."

"You fell for it." Rebecca smirked. "This is 'Millennium Shield'. That's steel defense." she cheered, having reduced Yuugi's Life Points to 1500. "Excuse me for scaring you like that. I'm a genius, so it's only natural. Magic Card: Ring of Magnetism."

"Ring of Magnetism?" Yuugi echoed, after Rebecca attached the magic card to 'Millennium Shield'. This card can lower your Defense Points. "I'll pass this turn."

"Really?" Rebecca mocked. "Are you gonna observe? Then, I'll go. 'Cannon Soldier', attack mode."

"'Summoned Skull', attack 'Cannon Soldier'." Yuugi instructed.

"Not a chance." Rebecca retorted. "'Ring of Magnetism' activate." she diverted 'Summoned Skull's attack to 'Millennium Shield'. 'Ring of Magnetism' can absorb an attack from the enemy monster. Now, you can only attack 'Millennium Shield'. It's not that easy to defeat a 2500 Defense monster."

'Summoned Skull' and Millennium Shield' have the same Attack Points and Defense Points. Yuugi mused. But that doesn't mean it will be destroyed if it's in Defense Mode.

"It's my turn this time." Rebecca took her turn. "I was waiting for this one." she giggled. "But it's not time to use it yet. I summon 'Witch of the Black Forest' in Attack Mode. Then, I sacrifice 'Witch of the Black Forest', 'Cannon Soldier', attack the player. And use 'Witch of the Black Forest''s effect to get a card from the deck. You'll know the pain in your heart from losing 'Blue Eyes White Dragon'."

"What's going on?" Yuugi demanded.

On the sidelines...

"I get it." Sugoroku realized who Rebecca was. "Rebecca, you are..."

In the dueling arena...

"You finally found out." Rebecca snorted. "That's right. My name is Rebecca Hopkins. I'm Arthur Hopkins granddaughter, the man you stole his cherished 'Blue Eyes White Dragon' from."

"You're Grandpa's best friend's granddaughter?" Yuugi gaped.

"That's right." Rebecca declared. "Now, I'm going to avenge my grandpa. Prepare yourself."
