Chapter 45: This City Will Become Battle City!

The next day...

Ami had brought Yami Yuugi to the Domino museum.

"Are you saying there are clues about my past here?" Yami Yuugi stopped in front of the museum.

"Yes." Ami nodded. "Who exactly are you? Where were you from? The answers are all here. I didn't know there is a room in the basement." she blinked, Yami Yuugi pushing open the door that led down to the museum's basement.

Yami Yuugi took the lead and descended down the staircase, the pair were now seeing the two stone tablets Ishizu showed Kaiba previously. The Ancient Egyptian King carved here... he frowned. There is no doubt in my mind that this person is me. "Ami, is this what you wanted me to see?" he pressed. "That I am the soul of an Ancient Egyptian King who was trapped inside the Millennium Puzzle for thousands of years. Is that my true identity? After all this time, it's no wonder I've forgotten everything." he snorted.

"We have been waiting for you." Ishizu voiced from the entrance. "I am Ishtar Ishizu. For 3000 years, I have protected a piece of the Pharaoh's memories."

"You..." Ami gaped in surprise. "That face... Isis...?"

"That's... a Millennium Item." Yami Yuugi instantly spotted the Millennium Tauk on Ishizu's neck.

"This Millennium Tauk grants the power to see into the near future." Ishizu explained. "I knew you would be coming here. And I knew a great battle would soon be waged in this town. You came here yourself. You chose your destiny of battle. To regain your memory, you must gather all seven of the Millennium Items."

"Tell me one thing first." Yami Yuugi demanded. "Are you my enemy or my ally?"

"Yuugi, wait." Ami voiced. "If my suspicions are correct, then Ishizu is the reincarnation of one of your Priests; her past self was the second wielder of the Millennium Tauk."

"Goddess Maat's human personification is indeed correct." Ishizu confirmed. "My Millennium Item is not your enemy. But I can see the enemy that will soon appear before you is the one who possesses the last Millennium Item. And that battle will be a battle to regain your memory. You'll understand when you leave today. For it is there you will choose your own destiny. The rest is something you must find out yourself." she turned to leave.

Why was my soul inside the Millennium Puzzle? Yami Yuugi turned back to the tablet. Why were my memories sealed in the seven Millennium Items? And the other man carved in the stone... he frowned, realizing the Priest his past self was fighting against resembled Kaiba way too much. Looks like him. Could it be? The resemblance is too great. The carving on this stone slab predicted our present-day battle. Is this the only way I can find the answers to find my lost memories?

On the streets later...

Strange... Yami Yuugi suddenly felt a blast of killing intent. I'm picking up this hostile aura.

"Hey, Yuugi!" Mai called out to the two cousins. "Long time no see. How are you doing?"

"Anyway Mai, what are you doing here?" Yami Yuugi asked.

"Why am I..." Mai echoed. "You're here and you don't even know? A few days ago, some news got out on the internet. 'Go to where the ancient Duelists and their card engravings rest.' Some kind of message. The date is today, the time is right now. They're supposed to announce a huge duel tournament here. Yuugi, you must have sensed it by now."

"I can feel the hostility of duelists in the air." Yami Yuugi agreed.

"The people here are duelists from all over the country." Mai confirmed. "Look closely, you might see some familiar faces."

"Aren't that..." Ami instantly spotted Ryuzaki and Haga nearby. "Insector Haga and Dinosaur Ryuzaki."

"And that's the duelist with 'special abilities', Esper Rroba." Mai nodded to the newcomer.

"Even Kajiki Ryota?" Ami gawked at the fisherman duelist.

"I see." Yami Yuugi nodded. "So that's why all the duelists are in town."

"That's..." Ami exclaimed, looking up and seeing Kaiba's image displayed on a TV screen.

"Rumor has it that he's the one who spread the information to come here." Mai supplied.

"Kaiba's hosting the tournament?" Yami Yuugi echoed.

"Fellow duelists, listen carefully." Kaiba began his speech. "In one week, in this very town, Kaiba Corporation will host a Duel Monsters tournament. Duelists must meet two requisites. He must have a deck of 40 cards, including one rare card. Also, he must have in possession this new Duel Disk. Duels will be played by Battle City rules and there is an ante rule. The loser must give up the rarest card in his deck to the winner. In other words, the final champion will acquire the rarest card of everyone. The stage of the battle will be all of Domino City." he announced, arriving on a helicopter. "In one week, this town will become a Battle City."

With the Ghouls...

"Battle City?" Marik echoed, once he was informed.

"Yes, Marik-sama." Odion replied. "Duelists from all over the county have gathered in Domino City."

"When all of your prey have gathered in one place, it's very convenient." Marik chuckled. "How interesting. Assemble the Rare Hunters of the Ghouls from around the world." he ordered. "Our next target is Domino City."
