Chapter 51: Marik Moves - God Combo
On his yacht...
"I'm sorry, but that friend of yours, Muto Yuugi," Marik chuckled. "No, the hateful Pharaoh who destroyed out tribe will soon die."
"Marik-sama." Rishid stepped up. "Stings is ready to move."
"I'm about to control Strings and battle against the Pharaoh." Marik stated. "And kill the Pharaoh."
Somewhere in Domino City...
Move. Marik ordered Strings.
In response, Strings put on his Duel Disc.
Run. Marik commanded, Strings following the order mutely and dashing off. To where Yuugi is.
By a river bank...
"I know what it is you're fighting for in Battle City." Yuugi informed his darker counterpart. "That is your memory. Isn't that right?"
"You know?" Yami Yuugi was surprised.
"I don't know from the start." Yuugi admitted. "But why would you enter this tournament if you weren't after the Rare Cards? But you really wanted to find something important to you. When I was little, I tried again and again to solve the Millennium Puzzle. And I was able to meet an important person like you. I wanted friends, and you gave me courage. And now, I've met many companions. I think it's because of you."
"That's not it." Yami Yuugi corrected. "It was your own strength."
"That's why this time, I'll lend you my strength." Yuugi offered. "We'll fight together, though I may not be able to do much."
"That's not true at all." Yami Yuugi replied. "Aibou, because you're by my side, I'm able to do my best; now and forever."
"Sorry to cut in," Ami interjected. "But we have company."
Yami Yuugi turned when he heard hurried footsteps and Strings slid down to the river bank.
"You're..." Yuugi exclaimed, now face-to-face against Strings.
"Vessel Yuugi," Marik, in control of Strings, started. "So we meet again. I'm the one controlling this doll; me, Marik. And this Strings is merely an empty shell. With the power of the Millennium Rod, this pantomime has severed all ties with emotion in his heart. Thus, this is no longer a being standing before you. It's no different from scrap."
"Unforgivable." Yami Yuugi growled, taking over. "You're misusing the power of the Millennium Items fro your own gain. I won't forgive you."
"This is a battle that's been destined for 3000 years." Marik sneered.
"If this Duel is destined, I have no choice but to accept." Yami Yuugi replied. "I'll take this duel."
On his yacht...
Yes, that's fine. Marik was pleased. You're my true enemy. His grip on the Millennium Rod nearly loosened when he caught a flash of blue behind Yami Yuugi and Strings' eyes turned to the other person in the area. What in the... she looks just like her... that person from my dreams.
With Yami Yuugi and Strings...
"If I win this duel, this doll will kill you." Marik cautioned. "No matter where you run, this doll with chase you until it kills you; no matter where."
"That's if you can beat me." Yami Yuugi snorted.
Be careful. Yuugi warned. He has a God Card with him.
"God Card? Yami Yuugi echoed. "Then, I'll defeat God." he declared.
On his yacht...
I'll win. Marik was confident. And after I beat you, I'll go after Kaiba in this city and take the final card. Obtaining the three God Cards will grant me the title of Pharaoh and I will be freed from a curse lasting over a thousand years. And then I will obtain everything.
With Yami Yuugi and Strings...
I can't lose. Yami Yuugi was determined. I'll triumph in this duel in order to gain my lost memories. "Let's go." he started the duel.
"I draw first." Strings took the first turn. "I set one reverse card. And 'Humanoid Slime', Attack Mode. Turn end."
800 Attack Humanoid Slime in Attack Mode? Yami Yuugi mused. "My turn." he's luring me into attacking, in order to activate his reverse card Trap. Right, then I'll use a Trap against a Trap. "I place one reverse card. And I Summon c in Attack Mode. Turn over."
"You're being awfully cautious to not attack." Strings noted. "No, 'cowardly' hits the nail on the head. You can't defeat me like that."
"We'll see about that." Yami Yuugi retorted.
"At least don't die until you see the God Card 'Slifer the Sky Dragon' with your own eyes." Strings mocked.
"Just shut up already and draw." Yami Yuugi fired back.
"I Summon 'Worm Drake'." Strings took his turn. "And I'll pull out one card from my hand. The Magic Card: 'Polymerization'. I Summon the Fusion Monster 'Humanoid Worm Drake'."
2200 Attack Points. Yami Yuugi mused. He Fused Monsters into a more powerful Monster in order to attack fiercely this early? "But Fusion Monsters can't attack in the turn they are Summoned." he reminded. "I'm safe for the time being."
"Are you sure about that?" Strings taunted. "The reverse card I have on the field, the one you thought was a Trap Card, that wasn't a Trap. Let me show you. Reverse Card open. The Magic Card: 'Quick Attack'."
"That card..." Yami Yuugi gaped.
"It increases the speed of a Fused Monster and allows them to attack in turn they are Summoned." Ami supplied.
"I don't feat my opponent's cards." Strings snorted. "I'm not the type to play it safe and not attack until I have the upper hand. I'm different from cowards like you who are afraid of one messily reverse card. 'Humanoid Worm Drake', attack. Take apart 'Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts'."
"Reverse Card, open." Yami Yuugi countered.
"'De-Fusion', is it?" Strings remarked, 'Humanoid Worm Drake' was disassembled back into 'Humanoid Slime' and 'Worm Drake'."
"Marik, from the time you Summoned 'Humanoid Slime' I knew you were going to fuse it into another Monster." Yami Yuugi stated.
"You knew I was going to fuse?" Strings echoed.
"With Fusion Summon, unlike Sacrifice Summon, you can Summon a high-Attack Monster without losing a turn." Yami Yuugi commented. "Now then, Marik. I'm sure you've already planned your next move. I've already planned for the move after that."
"This is fun, Yuugi." Strings was impressed.
"Your moves aren't' strong enough to touch my Life." Yami Yuugi fired back. "You were too weak."
"I was simply testing the waters on that turn." Strings snorted. "I cast a pebble to see how big a ripple you make and to see your skills are a Duelist."
"That move didn't even make a ripple." Yami Yuugi countered.
"A Duelist is like a vessel while strategy is water being poured into that vessel." Strings related. "The water takes the shape of the vessel and if the vessel is shallow, you can see the bottom. As the rumors state, you are a Duelist with great depth. But if I were to cast the great stone I have hidden, it shall shatter the very vessel itself. 'Slifer the Sky Dragon', a great stone with the name of a God."
"My turn." Yami Yuugi took his turn. This turn, I'll call another Monster to the field. For now, I'll take out his Monster. Next turn, I'll Sacrifice Summon 'Buster Blader'. "I Summon 'Beta The Magnet Warrior'. Battle Phase. 'Beta The Magnet Warrior' attack 'Worm Drake'. Also, 'Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts' attack 'Humanoid Slime'." he took out both Strings' Monsters. "'Worm Drake' and 'Humanoid Slime' have been beaten." now all the Monsters on his field have disappeared in that attack. I now have the upper hand in this duel.
"You just don't get it." Strings mocked. "You're the one who's been cornered. My turn. Draw. I compared water to strategy before, didn't I? I'll show you the ultimate strategy right now. At times, water can become a shield that can protect against any attack. And at times, it can become a sword capable of piercing the enemy's heart. This Monster wields that power. I Summon 'Revival Jam', Defense Mode. And one more card on the field. 'Jam Breeding Machine' activate. This device Special Summons one 'Jam Token' with Attack and an Attribute of Water. Of course, I can't Summon another Monster but the 'Jam Token until this Machine is destroyed."
"I see." Yami Yuugi realized. "Your aim is to sacrifice the Jams on the field and Summon a high-level Monster."
"Right." Strings confirmed. "In order to Summon the God Card 'Slifer the Sky Dragon', I must sacrifice three Monsters."
He's using this ability to Summon the Ultimate Monster. Yami Yuugi wondered. Could it be that he has that card in his hand already? "My turn." anyway, before he Summons 'Slifer the Sky Dragon', I have no choice but to lower his Life to zero. "I sacrifice two Monsters I have on the field. I Summon 'Buster Blader'."
"The legendary swordsman known to slay dragons." Strings remarked. "You Sacrifice Summoned for 'Buster Blader'?"
"Attack 'Revival Jam'." Yami Yuugi ordered.
"Yuugi, wait!" Ami shouted. "Don't..." her warning came too late when 'Buster Blader' cut through 'Revival Jam'. "There's a reason why that Monster is called 'Revival Jam'." she sighed as 'Revival Jam' rejuvenated.
"That girl is correct." Strings laughed. "This is 'Revival Jam's Regeneration ability. Just like water, no matter what you do, it will return to the field unharmed. Didn't I tell you? It's a shapeless, invincible shield. As long as this guy remains on the field, your Monsters' attacks can't touch me. There's nothing you can do now. This is the ultimate strike combo designed to let God descend. You only have three turns left. My turn. 'Jam Breeding Machine' activate. A 'Jam Token' has appeared. I also set a reversed card. Turn over. Now, what are you gonna do, Yuugi?"
"Every turn, a 'Jam Token' is generated." Yami Yuugi droned. "When three are made, you will sacrifice them. You plan to use them to Summon the God Card 'Slifer the Sky Dragon'. A good strategy but with one flaw. I have 'Buster Blader' on the field with 2600 Attack Points. Your 'Jam Token's Attack Points is 2100 points weaker. If 'Buster Blader' defeats 'Jam Token', your Life will be reduced by 2100 points. You won't make it to the third turn. In two turns, you're finished. 'Buster Blader', attack 'Jam Token'."
"Reverse Card, open." Strings countered. "The Permanent Trap Card: 'Jam Defender'. 'Jam Defender' is a card that forces the opponent to do battle with only Monsters with the word 'Jam' in their name a long as it remains in play." he explained, 'Revival Jam' taking on the attack for 'Jam Token'. "I predicted you'll try that, Yuugi. Of course I know my Life is wide open if you aim for the 'Jam Tokens'. Now it's my turn. On my next turn, God will descend." he declared, the 'Jam Breeding Machine' producing a second 'Jam Token'. And to prepare for that, I've prepared a little something for you. The Magic Card: 'Nightmare's Steelcage'." he trapped Yami Yuugi and 'Buster Blader' in a semi-hemispherical iron cage.
"Oh dear..." Ami muttered.
