Chapter 53: Surpass the God! Ultimate Infinite Loop
"How convenient." Strings turned to Kaiba. "The one who wields the final God Card, Obelisk, Kaiba Seto has appeared. After I crush Yuugi, it's your turn, Kaiba."
I'm the one who will defeat Yuugi. Kaiba mused.
"A flaw in the God Five Comb?" Yami Yuugi echoed. "Is that true, Ami?"
"Just answer a simple question, Yuugi." Ami smiled. "How many cards are there in a player's deck for this tournament?"
"40 cards..." Yami Yuugi trailed. Now I see! "This turn, I set a reverse card. Also, 'Big Shield Gardna' in Defense Mode."
"The moment you Summon a Monster, Slifer's Special Ability activates." Strings chuckled. "The very moment a Monster is Summoned, Slifer gives it 2000 points of damage."
"What a fearsome ability." Kaiba admitted. "So, the moment the Monster is Summoned onto the field, it's eliminated." 'Slifer the Sky Dragon', the moment I were to Summon my Obelisk to the field, half its strength would be halved in an instant.
I somehow managed to hold on this round. Yami Yuugi growled. But that alone won't let me win. Next turn, 'Big Shield Gardna' will be defeated without a doubt and all the Monsters on my field will disappear. If I run out of Monsters, Slifer can directly attack the player. If that happens, I'll lose. Is there really no way to defeat a God?
"That's right." Marik grinned via Strings. "Suffer in the moment of despair. And quiver in fear before me. My turn. This turn, 'Lightforce Sword's effect disappears. Now that I have 11 cards in my hand, Slifer's attack rises to 11000 points."
"11000?" Mokuba gawked. "Nii-sama, that Monster gets stronger for every card he has in his hand."
"That's not just it." Kaiba added. "With the 'Card of Safe Return' on his field, he can hold as many cards in his hand as he wants."
"Then, it can have infinite Attack Points?" Mokuba gaped. "Is there a way to defeat that Monster?"
Infinite Attack Points... Kaiba mused. Infinite, right? That's it. He also followed Ami's thought process. I expected nothing less from my chess rival. He grinned. 'Infinite' is just a deception of God. Yuugi, like Mizuno, I just realized the God's flaw.
"Slifer attacks." Strings commenced his attack. "Annihilate 'Big Shield Gardna'. Did you see? God's power is infinite."
"I know the God's flaw." Yami Yuugi declared. "Everything will be determined on the next turn. Within this one turn, we will determine which one of us is stronger."
"What nonsense are you babbling about?" Strings sneered. "Are you saying there is a way to escape the hole I've trapped you in within just one turn?"
"There is." Yami Yuugi retorted. "The final turn." the key card is somewhere within my deck. It all depends on whether or not I can draw it. "I win." he grinned, drawing the deciding card. "Reverse card open. 'Monster Reborn'. I use this card to revive a Monster sleeping in the graveyard. 'Buster Blader' returns to the field."
"I can tell you plan to bring him back from the dead in Defense Mode just to protect your Life Points." Strings was not too impressed. "But you can't win like that."
"Defense Mode?" Yami Yuugi snorted. "That's wrong, Marik. 'Buster Blader', Attack Mode. Marik, I just drew the key card. This completes the infinite combo beyond the limits of God."
"Infinite combo, you say?" Strings remarked. "Beyond the limits of God, you say? What bullshit are you on about? There's no power stronger than the infinity of God in this world. Behold the lineup on my field. The Continuous Magic 'Card of Safe Return': the effects of this card reaches the entire field. That means even when one of your Monsters is regenerated, I can draw 3 cards from my deck."
"I just brought back 'Buster Blader' to the field." Yami Yuugi reminded.
"That means I get to draw 3 new cards from my deck." Strings noted. "And... also, when you Summoned 'Buster Blader', Slifer's Special Ability was activated. It seems he managed to live." he added, 'Buster Blader' withstood the assault. "But 'Buster Blader's Attack Points have fallen to 1100. do you still plan to attack Slifer? It's not too late now. I'll let you switch it to Defense Mode."
"'Buster Blader' is in Attack Mode, Marik." Yami Yuugi stood his ground. "I'll show you, Marik. This is the infinite Combo t hat goes beyond the limits of God. My Battle Phase."
"Bring it on." Strings accepted the challenge. "You won't know you're dead until it's too late."
"'Buster Blader' attack 'Slifer the Sky Dragon'." Yami Yuugi ordered.
"I don't know what you're up to, but you can't even scratch God with that kind of Monster." Strings mocked. "Permanent Trap, 'Jam Defender' activate. 'Revival Jam', become God's shield. Every time your attack fails, Slifer will immediately follow with a counter attack. You've truly wasted your last chance at a counter-strike."
"I was well aware that 'Revival Jam' would become Slifer's shield." Yami Yuugi stated. "And I was waiting for this moment. This is my trump card. The Magic Card: 'Brain Control'." he activated the card he just placed face-down as 'Revival Jam' regenerated.
"I see." String laughed. "But let me tell you, it's a pity, but that won't work against God. 'Buster Blader's counter-attack against Slifer has come to an end."
"Wait, Marik." Yami Yuugi smirked. "Who said I was using that on Slifer? Don't misunderstand me. The one I used that against this turn is 'Revival Jam'. I Regenerate Summon him on my field. Now, a Monster on the field has regenerated, Marik. Due to the Continuous Magic 'Card of Safe Return', draw 3 cards from your deck."
"I don't know what you're planning, but all you've accomplished is increasing Slifer's Attack Points even further." Strings taunted. "Now Slifer has 17000 Attack Points. Counter-attack, Slifer. Deliver the final blow to the nameless Pharaoh."
"Don't rush." Yami Yuugi chided. "Before you counter-attack me with Slifer, I just Regenerate Summon 'Revival Jam' on my field. And that means 'Revival Jam' has activated Slifer's Special Ability. What do you think happens next?" he smirked, Slifer's attack taking out 'Revival Jam'.
"'Revival Jam' will revive again." Strings realized.
"Because a Monster has been regenerated this turn, you're required to draw another 3 cards." Yami Yuugi reminded.
Damnit. Marik cursed. Slifer's Special Ability will activate again. 'Revival Jam' will be destroyed and then regenerated. I then will have to draw 3 cards. And then Slifer will attack once again. This will continue infinitely in an infinite loop. "He pulled this off?" he was shocked when he understood what Yami Yuugi's plan was.
"One who can no longer draw a card from his deck can no longer continue playing the game." Yami Yuugi announced, forcing Strings to lose via deck-out. "Marik, you said this, didn't you? That if your hand was infinite, Slifer's Attack Points will also be infinite. But that's wrong. God's power is not infinite. It's limited by the number of cards in your deck. I win, Marik."
On his yacht...
"For me..." Marik fumed. "For me to lose."
With Yami Yuugi and Strings...
"Now, hand over your Rare Card and Puzzle Card." Mokuba ran up to the defeated Strings. "What the..." he blinked when Strings remained unresponsive. "He's not moving as if he's a doll. This is 'Slifer the Sky Dragon'." he picked up the God Card scattered on the ground. "The second God Card? Yuugi, as the winner, I'll give you this 'Slifer the Sky Dragon' according to the Ante Rule. Here." he handed both the God card and Puzzle Card to Yami Yuugi. "Take the Puzzle Card, too."
"Yuugi," Kaiba stepped forward. "Now that you've become one of the chosen ones the God Cards have selected, for me, I want my enemies nothing short of the best. Otherwise, there'd be no point in defeating you. Yuugi, you know this, right? In Battle City, when Duelists come face-to-face, it becomes a field of battle. Let's duel, Yuugi."
"Yuugi." Strings cut in.
"Are you gonna try and take back the God Card?" Yami Yuugi demanded. "You don't give up easily, Marik."
"What?" Strings mocked. "All the God Cards will soon return to my hands. I didn't give it a moment's hesitation. But there's something I forgot to mention. I will arrive shortly to Domino City. And once I arrive, my plan will be set into motion. Right now, I'm seeing three visions. One is you standing before be through the eyes of this doll. Another is the port harbor of Domino City. And the other is downtown in the city, through the eyes of some Rare Hunters stationed there. I can see your friends. The duelist called Jonouchi and the rest. Using your friends, I can easily take back the God Cards. The Ghoul Rare Hunters have been keeping a close eye on your friends. I can use them whenever I want."
"How far will you fall, Marik?" Yami Yuugi snapped.
"It's your fault." String accused. "If you had lost to me here, your precious friends would have been left out of this."
"I won't forgive you." Yami Yuugi glared.
"The one who won't forgive is me." String countered. "The suffering my tribe endured is much more than this. Now then, Yuugi, if you don't hurry up and find your friends, something bad night happen to them."
"Jonouchi..." Yami Yuugi realized the others had been targeted after Strings fell over. "Kaiba, I can't fight you right now. Jonouchi is being targeted by the Ghouls. Ami, let's go." he barked.
