Chapter 56: Sealed God Cards

"My card is 'Mask of the Accursed'." Lumis played his drawn card. "To start, I'll use this guy. I equip it to Yuugi's Magnet Warrior." he attached 'Mask of the Accursed' to 'Beta The Magnet Warrior'. "The Monster equipped with 'Mask of the Accursed' cannot attack or defend. And the controller of this Monster will take 500 points of damage at the start of their every turn. I'll set another card face-down. Turn over."

Trap card? Yami Yuugi wondered. This Lumis hasn't played a single Monster. Is his strategy to play cards that work alongside the Mask Cards?

All Partner needs to do is play a High-Level Monster to finish you off. Lumis grinned. "Now, Yuugi. It's your turn. So you get to take 50 Points of damage."

'Beast of Gilfer'. Yami Yuugi looked at the card he drew. A 6-Star Monster with a good Special Ability.

Because of 'Mask of the Accursed', he can't attack or defend, but if Yuugi sacrifices his Monster, he can Summon a High-Level Monster, as I would if I were him. Kaiba mused.

But, I have a bad feeling about this. Yami Yuugi pondered. "I sacrifice 'Magnet Warrior'."

"Trap Card activate." Lumis countered. "Permanent Trap: 'Mask of Restrict'. You fell for it. 'Mask of Restrict' is a Trap Card that restricts the opponent players from sacrificing any Monsters; meaning as long as this Permanent Trap remains on the field, you can't sacrifice any Monster."

We're sealed off from Summoning any High-Level Monsters? Kaiba was stunned.

"You guys can't Summon the God Cards or any other powerful Monster for that matter." Umbra chuckled. "The God Cards have been sealed."

"I set a reverse card and play 'Kuriboh' on the field in Defense Mode." Yami Yuugi took his turn. "Turn end. Kaiba, we only have one way to win."

"I know what you are about to say." Kaiba replied. "Fight alongside each other, right? What nonsense."

"It's my turn." Umbra drew a card. It's be better to leave Yuugi's 'Magnet Warrior' on the field. He decided. Since he's losing Life because of it. What bothers me is Kaiba's reverse card.

"You don't have to worry, Partner." Lumis assured.

"Got it." Umbra grinned. "First, I set one reverse card. Also, I attack Kaiba's 'Vorse Raider' with 'Shining Abyss'."

"Think I'll let you?" Kaiba countered. "Trap Card activate: 'Ring of Destruction'. This card will destroy 'Shining Abyss' and both players receive damage equal to the destroyed Monster's Attack Points."

"I won't let you." Lumis cut in. "Counter Trap Card activate: 'Curse Transfer'. This activates when the opponent activates a Trap Card. It transfers its effects to the opponent." he moved 'Ring of Destruction' to 'Vorse Raider'.

But Kaiba's not the only one who will lose Life Points. Yami Yuugi frowned. His companion Umbra should lose some, too. "Kaiba, they've got a way to stop it." he warned.

"Be quiet, Yuugi." Kaiba snapped. "As I told you last time, I don't need help from you."

"Destroy 'Vorse Raider'." Lumis ordered.

"Magic Card: 'Ring of Defense'." Kaiba countered with a Magic Card. "This card negates any damage done from a trap."

"You fool." Umbra mocked. "Our Tag Combination is far more than these measly tricks. I'll be using that Effect." he activated 'Spell Transfer' to shift 'Ring of Defense's Effect to himself. "Kaiba, your 'Ring of Defense' is wiped out. I'll then use it to escape damage. 'Shiny Abyss', direct attack Kaiba."

"Yuugi..." Kaiba turned, stunned to see a wall of 'Kuriboh' before him, blocking off the direct attack.

"I activated the Magic Card 'Multiply' with 'Kuriboh'." Yami Yuugi explained. "It's the Magic Card 'Multiply' and 'Kuriboh' combo. Your attack won't reach Kaiba."

"He used 'Multiply' on such a weak Monster?" Umbra snarled. "They're all weaklings."

"So, I was saved by your 'Kuriboh'?" Kaiba snorted. "Yuugi, mind your own business."

"Kaiba, this Tag Match must be played with a team of two." Yami Yuugi reminded. "However, the issue is you and me. If either one of us falls, it's all over."

"As you saying I can't win with my power alone?" Kaiba demanded.

"Right now, the Ghoul opponents before us have a flawless team strategy." Yami Yuugi related. "They help each other in times of peril. That attack teamwork is unmatched by anything else. If we don't combine our power in this duel, we have no chance of defeating the Ghouls."

With your teamwork, it's impossible to for you to defeat us. Lumis was confident.

"But with these weakling Monsters all over the field, our attacks won't reach those guys." Umbra pointed out. "It's quite a problem."

"It's alright, I have a plan." Lumis chuckled.

"My turn." Kaiba took his turn. Blue-Eyes... he drew his trademark Monster. I can't Summon a High-Level Monster without sacrificing, though. But they have the Permanent Magic 'Mask of Restrict' on the field. Forget the God Card, I can't even Summon Blue-Eyes. "I set a reverse card. 'Battle Ox' in Defense Mode. Turn over."

"Looks like your big plan was a failure, Kaiba." Umbra mocked.

They have 'Shiny Abyss' on their field with 2600 Attack Points. Yami Yuugi considered their options. In a Tag Battle, you can protect your partner with a Monster on your field. Right now, we can only rely on the multiplied 'Kuriboh'. We're sure to get a chance.

"Seem to be my turn." Lumis took his turn. "Aside from these weaklings Monsters guarding you, you guys can't do a thing." I'll get rid of them with this card. Mask Card: 'Mask of Dispel'." he dispelled the 'Multiply' Magic Card and reducing the 'Kuriboh' wall back into one 'Kuriboh'. "Even more, this card takes an additional 500 points from your Life Points on the start of your every turn. Also, I use 'Grand Tiki Elder' to attack 'Kuriboh'. He's annihilated." he took out 'Kuriboh'. "Now that little Wall of Monster of yours is gone. Now Yuugi, it's your turn. Don't forget you lose 1000 points from your Life Points due to the 2 Masks."

"My turn." Yami Yuugi took his turn.

"What's wrong, Yuugi?" Kaiba retorted, seeing Yami Yuugi hesitating. "Seems like you have some High-Level Monster in your hand; meaning you can't play any Monster cards this turn. But it can't be helped if we're holding these powerful cards in our hands: if we can't sacrifice to Summon them, these cards are a nuisance. Wouldn't they be better off in the graveyard?"

"I set one reverse card." Yami Yuugi played his card. "Turn over."

"Yuugi, seems like you couldn't play a singe Monster in Defense Mode to help you." Umbra taunted. "My turn. I'll use this Magic Card: Ritual Card, 'Curse of the Masked Beast'. I sacrifice a Monster of Light and a Monster of Darkness on both our fields. I Summon 'The Masked Beast'. Yuugi has no wall on his field. 'The Masked Beast', eliminate Yuugi."

Kaiba then had 'Battle Ox' take the attack for Yami Yuugi. "The Tag Duel rules state that when the opposite player is being directly attacked, you can protect your Tag Partner with your own Monster." the businessman reminded. "Don't misunderstand. This is payback for that 'Kuriboh' favor earlier."

"But now, Kaiba's Monsters are all gone." Lumis chuckled.

"Now, you can't protect yourself against 'The Masked Beast's attack." Umbra agreed.

"Reverse Card, open." Yami Yuugi played his card. "'Card Destruction'. All players must discard their entire hand. Now I sent 'Beast of Gilfer' into the graveyard along with my hand."

"I discard my entire hand as well." Kaiba followed suit. "You need a sacrifice in order to Summon High-Level Monsters. But in this specific case, there's another way to Summon a High-Level Monster onto the field without sacrificing. My turn. Reverse Card open. 'Monster Reborn'. Thanks to 'Card Destruction', I was able to Summon Blue-Eyes from the graveyard."
