Chapter 57: Unite!

"Damn..." Lumis cursed. To think those guys actually worked together to pull off a 'Card of Destruction'- 'Monster Reborn' reverse Combo.

Yuugi and Kaiba... even Umbra was stunned. They weren't supposed to have any teamwork.

"So, you realized it, Yuugi?" Kaiba chuckled. "To win this Tag Match, we needed this one thing. So, is this what they call 'using your partner to win'? In order to allow me to Summon a High-Level Monster onto the field, you played your 'Card of Destruction'. Just as I planned. So don't go misunderstanding that I've gained some ridiculous willing to 'cooperate' with you. Now I don't owe you. Yuugi, aside from the next attack on these idiots, don't think my Blue-Eyes will be helping you out."

Just as I thought originally. Umbra grinned. These guys don't have an ounce of teamwork.

"Kaiba, it's your Battle Phase." Lumis reminded. "Even though you Summoned Blue-Eyes, my 'The Masked Beast' still holds 3200 Attack Points. So it's 200 Points stronger than your Blue-Eyes.

"Attack, Kaiba." Yami Yuugi barked. "You Blue-Eyes can beat 'The Masked Beast' right now. Will you believe what I said or will you let the Blue-Eyes you Summoned this turn go to waste?"

"Interesting." Kaiba smirked. "Yuugi, I've never thought I'd have to listen to what you say. I won't back down. Blue-Eyes, attack."

"What?" Umbra was shocked when 'The Masked Beast' was destroyed. "Impossible. Why'd 'The Masked Beast'..."

"When I used 'Card of Destruction', my entire hand was sent to the graveyard." Yami Yuugi explained. "Among those in my graveyard, I activated the Special Ability of a Monster Card: when 'Beast of Gilfer' is sent to the graveyard, it becomes an Equipment Card and can Equip itself with any Monster on the field. When that happens, the Equipped Monster loses 500 Attack Points."

"Turn over." Kaiba ended his turn.

"My turn." Lumis took his turn. "A Monster face-down in Defense Mode. I also place these 2 reverse cards face-down and end my turn. Now Yuugi, it's your turn."

"I set one card." Yami Yuugi played his turn. "Also, I Summon 'Alpha The Magnet Warrior'. Now, attack." he had 'Alpha The Magnet Warrior' take out Lumis' face-down Monster 'Melchid the Four-Face Beast'. "Turn over."

"Partner, if we don't beat that troubling Blue-Eyes, we won't even be able to worry about it any longer." Umbra reminded.

"Relax, Partner." Lumis assured. "We'll beat Blue-Eyes. In any case, use the Monster Card in your hand and attack Blue-Eyes."

With Mokuba and Ami...

"Wait a moment, Mokuba." Ami suddenly thought of an idea. "What if... instead of tracking down Jonouchi's Duel Disk, we use Kaiba Cooperation's satellite GPS positioning to locate Anzu?"

"Good idea." Mokuba nodded.

Back in the Tag Match...

"I Summon 'Rouge Doll'." Umbra took his turn.

"It only has 1600 Attack Points." Kaiba was not impressed. "So all you had was a weakling Monster? It's not even qualified to be Blue-Eyes' enemy."

"Go, 'Rouge Doll'." Umbra ordered. "Attack Blue-Eyes."

"I open my reverse card at this very moment." Lumis moved in. "'Mask of Weakness'. I place the 'Mask of Impregnability' on Blue-Eyes. With the 'Mask of Weakness, Blue-Eyes loses 700 Attack Points. And next, 'Mask of Brutality'. The Monster wearing this Mask gains 1000 Attack Points."

"I won't let that happen." Yami Yuugi snapped. "Reverse Trap activate: 'Mystical Refpanel'. This card will take your power. Overtaking the 'Mask of Weakness', it now wears the 'Mask of Brutality' instead. The decreased power of Blue-Eyes is now increased by 1000 points."

"Partner, are you alright?" Lumis inquired.

"You're the one who told me it was fine to attack him." Umbra rebuked. "But look what happened."

"You saying it's my fault?" Lumis retorted. "You're the one who got careless."

Their teamwork is crumbling. Yami Yuugi realized. If we use that to our advantage...

"My turn isn't over yet." Umbra glared. I don't have a Wall Monster on my field. If I'm hit by Blue-Eyes' attack next turn, I'll be blown up. If that's the case, I can't depend on Partner. I'll protect myself on my own. "I set one reverse card. Turn over."

"My turn." Kaiba took his turn. "Blue-Eyes, rip the enemy to pieces. Your attack will be used to Direct Attack Umbra."

"Reverse card open." Umbra countered. "'Mask of Impregnability'. When this mask is played, the player is protected from the opponent's attacks for one turn. Blue-Eyes' attack failed. Too bd, Kaiba. I read through your attack."

"Just your life, though." Kaiba laughed. "I could have easily attacked either of you guys this turn with my Blue-Eyes. I simply chose not to go after you." he turned to Lumis. "And if I had, would that 'Partner' of yours have activated the Magic Card to save your life as well? No, I'm sure he wouldn't."

"What nonsense is that?" Umbra retorted, seeing Lumis shoot a glare at him. "You damn well know I'd have activated the Magic Card to protect you. No doubt I would. Believe me."

Kaiba might be right. Lumis admitted. Umbra is usually the type to think only of himself. "It's my turn. With the Magic Card 'Pot of Greed', I draw 2 cards from my deck I'll first set this face-down. Then, Magic Card activate, ''Card Exchange'. This Magic Card lets me switch hands with any other player on the field; in a Tag Match only, of course. So my Tag Partner. I hate my current hand, so I'm gonna take yours. And I'll activate my set Magic Card." he added, having taken Umbra's cards. "'Chosen One'. I'll then set 3 cards in reverse. One of these cards is a Monster Card. The Mask Spinner will select 1 out of the 3 cards and if it picks the Monster Card, I can instantly play it on the field. I ain't gonna let your hand go to waste."

"If this fails, I won't have mercy on you." Umbra warned.

"Mask Spinner, do your thing." Lumis let the top spin. "I did it." he grinned when the top pointed to 'Masked Beast Des Gardius', Special Summoning the Monster to the field.

It has 3300 Attack Points. Kaiba twitched. It's stronger than Blue-Eyes?

"We have no chance at losing." Lumis grinned at Umbra. "You should know that."

I have one card in my hand that might work. Yami Yuugi considered his options. But if I attack him now,

"Now then, who should I attack with 'Masked Beast Des Gardius'?" Lumis smirked. "Should I wipe out Yuugi in one attack? Or should I exterminate that annoying Blue-Eyes?"
