Chapter 58: Giant God Soldier of Obelisk
"Yuugi, you have 'Alpha The Magnet Warrior' on the field in Attack Mode." Lumis chuckled. "If I took him out, you'd receive 1900 points of damage. In other words, Yuugi, you'd die this turn."
"But getting rid of just one of them doesn't guarantee us a victory in this Tag Duel." Umbra stated. "Forgetting Yuugi for the moment, leaving Kaiba and that Blue-Eyes of his on the field could present a problem."
"No, I'm gonna defeat Yuugi." Lumis insisted.
"What a coward." Kaiba mocked. "Even with a Monster holding 3300 Attack Points, you still back down. I'd thank you for defeating Yuugi. But next turn, my Blue-Eyes will defeat your Monster.
It's true Yuugi's Monsters are weaklings. Lumis concurred. I can beat them any time. This turn truly... "Destroy Blue-Eyes." he ordered.
"Yuugi, it's your turn." Kaiba reminded.
"Kaiba, Blue-Eyes' soul will be inherited by this card." Yami Yuugi played his turn. "Ghouls, you fell right into our trap."
"My Blue-Eyes was bait." Kaiba explained. "In order to play a much stronger Monster."
"Your ability to Sacrifice Summon should be sealed." Umbra protested.
"It's true we can't sacrifice Summon any Monsters." Yami Yuugi agreed. "But behold, the ability of this Card: our alternative. 'Gamma The Magnet Warrior'. And the Special Ability of Alpha, Beta and Gamma. Change Form. 'Valkyrion the Magna Warrior'." he Special Summoned the combined Monster.
"This is the combined power of our greatest efforts." Kaiba added.
'Masked Beast Des Gardius' only has 3300 Attack Points. Lumis mused. And 'Valkyrion the Magna Warrior' holds 3500 Attack Points. 'Valkyrion the Magna Warrior' has more Attack Points.
"Yuugi, attack." Kaiba barked. "Destroy the Monster that eliminated my Blue-Eyes. The power of cooperation is indeed great, but my Blue-Eyes' anger won't be eased by this alone."
It's true they have no reverse cards on the field. Yami Yuugi pondered. 'Valkyrion the Magna Warrior' can easily defeat the enemy Monster. But I feel it: those guys aren't sacred of my attack. What if 'Masked Beast Des Gardius' has a hidden Special Ability?
"Why are you hesitating, Yuugi?" Kaiba snapped. " I sacrificed my Blue-Eyes so you could play your trump card. Then hurry up and eliminate the enemy Monster with that trump card and ease my anger."
"I set a reverse card." Yami Yuugi played his turn. "Kaiba, will that really ease your emotions if I do that this turn?" he asked. "if it will, I'll attack. Emotions only hold a Duelist back. By giving into them, you're falling right into the enemy's hand."
"A fight is about anger." Kaiba retorted.
"Stay calm, Kaiba." Yami Yuugi assured. "And think about the key to victory."
Key to victory? Kaiba wondered. My trump card is the God Card, Obelisk. But in order to Summon the God, I require 3 sacrifices. As long as they hold the 'Mask of Restrict' on their field, I can't Summon Obelisk. No, there's a way. He corrected, noticing the 'Soul Exchange' card in his hand. A way to Summon the God. Is Yuugi also using 'Valkyrion the Magna Warrior' as bait? "Yuugi, attack."
"'Valkyrion the Magna Warrior', attack." Yami Yuugi gave the order.
"You fell for it." Lumis grinned when 'Valkyrion the Magna Warrior' took out 'Masked Beast Des Gardius'. "This guy's got a Special Ability, too, you know. 'Masked Beast Des Gardius' leaves behind 3 masks after it dies. And these masks form the 'Mask of Remnants'. To avenge the fall of 'Masked Beast Des Gardius', this mask takes your Monster as our servant. 'Mask of Remnants' attaches itself to 'Valkyrion the Magna Warrior'. 'Valkyrion the Magna Warrior' is ours now." he brought the combined Monster to his side. "It's all over, Yuugi. You got no Monsters to protect you. Partner, you finish off Yuugi. I'm gonna finish off Kaiba; because he made a fool out of me before. My anger won't settle till I defeat him."
"My turn." Umbra took his turn. "'Masquerade'." he played his face-down card. "This card allows me to control Lumis' Monsters this turn. Go, 'Valkyrion the Magna Warrior'. Direct attack Yuugi."
"I'm not so sure about that." Yami Yuugi smirked. "Reverse card open. 'De-Fusion'." he split 'Valkyrion the Magna Warrior' back into 'Alpha The Magnet Warrior', 'Beta The Magnet Warrior', and 'Gamma The Magnet Warrior'. "Remember this, your anger is no match for us."
"My turn." Kaiba took his turn. "I'll let you fools see God once again."
"God?" Lumis echoed. "I got the 'Mask of Restrict' on my field. How the hell are you going to Summon God with your sacrificing sealed away?"
"This card restricts us from sacrificing our own Monsters." Kaiba agreed. "Then, I'll just have to sacrifice your Monsters instead, with this card. The Magic Card: 'Soul Exchange'. I'll sacrifice your 'Magnet Warriors'. "
"So Yuugi fooled us into taking his 'Valkyrion the Magna Warrior' so Kaiba can sacrifice them and Summon the God?" Lumis gawked.
"God descends!' Kaiba declared, Summoning 'Obelisk the Tormentor'. "Behold, this is the God of Destruction sleeping in our hands. I have now awakened 'Obelisk the Tormentor'! Disappear, weaklings." he had 'Obelisk' direct attack Umbra, taking him out. "After 'Obelisk the Tormentor' attacked you, you lost all your Life. And you fools are about to fall into your own trap."
The Life Counter on my bomb hit zero. Umbra was shocked as the counter reduced to zero and the bomb exploded, shattering the glass underneath his feet and sending him down the skyscraper. As he fell downwards, he activated the parachute he prepared beforehand, saving himself.
"Parachute, eh?" Yami Yuugi snorted. "I expected that of you guys from the start. But this isn't much of a 'Death Match' now, is it? You no longer have any hopes of defeating us. How about you surrender?"
"I won't accept that." Kaiba insisted. "The conditions to win a Tag Match clearly state both opposing members must be defeated. I'm gonna send him to hell."
"Wait, Kaiba." Yami Yuugi chided. "There's no reason to harm him as well. Such an act will tarnish our humanity as Duelists."
Just then, Marik took control of Lumis.
"I saw 'Obelisk' clearly." Marik voiced. "The power of God is really strong."
"Marik, stop hiding and show yourself." Yami Yuugi barked.
"His personalty changed..." Kaiba breathed.
"Yeah." Yami Yuugi confirmed. "Right now, he's being controlled by another person altogether, by the leader of the Ghouls, Marik. The man who holds the final God Card."
"Please to meet you, Kaiba." Marik greeted. "I thank you for getting rid of my weak underlings in this duel. They were simply here to buy me some time. My plan proceeds as scheduled. To start, these Rare Hunters have allowed me to witness the entirety of your decks. There's no way you guys can beat my deck. And moreover, my Ra card holds a hidden, terrifying power, stronger than both your cards. It's the strongest card in existence. And there's one more part to my plan. And Yuugi, that is related to our fight that lasted over 3000 years. You must perish at my hands to ease the anger of the Tomb Keepers Tribe and carry out our revenge. In order to ensure my revenge, I've prepared a few extra soldiers on my team. The little followers you call friends have already fallen into my control and have become warriors that will be used against you."
He's talking about Jonouchi and the others... Yami Yuugi realized. "Marik, what have you done with Jonouchi and the others?"
"It seems as though they've become puppets." Marik mocked.
"You mean you're controlling them like dolls like the Ghouls Rare Hunters?" Yami Yuugi demanded.
"That's right." Marik confirmed. "Your friends have already become my hands. Now Yuugi, come to where your friends are."
"Kaiba, please." Yami Yuugi pleaded, after Marik relinquished his control on Lumis. "Help me find Jonouchi and the others."
"There is something else to take care of first." Kaiba reminded "Yuugi, take this." he tossed one of the Puzzle Cards he found on Lumis. "These are the Puzzle Cards we won from beating the Ghouls. We each get 1. Now you and me both have 6. We now both qualify for the Battle City finals."
"Nii-sama!" Mokuba hollered from the helicopter that had ascended up to the roof. "We found them! Anzu, that is."
"Is Anzu safe?" Yami Yuugi inquired. "How about Jonouchi and Honda?"
"We only managed to locate Anzu since her cellphone was on." Ami shook her head.
"Get on the helicopter, Yuugi." Kaiba instructed.
