Chapter 63: First Duel in the Sky - Yuugi vs. Dark Bakura
"The finals are finally here, Yuugi." Mai noted, the group were now at the reception hall. "This time, I'll definitely defeat you."
"At that time, let's fight honorably." Yami Yuugi agreed.
"Of course." Mai nodded.
"Bakura." Jonouchi accidentally bumped into the white-haired teen. "By the way, what kind of deck do you use?"
"My deck is an Occult deck." Bakura replied.
"Occult deck?" Jonouchi gaped. "Is that like Kotsuzuka's Ghost deck?" he has a creepy deck like that? He shivered.
"I dueled Kotsuzuka and won easily." Bakura supplied.
"You won against Kotsuzuka?" Jonouchi blinked. This Occult deck that won easily against that Kotsuzuka... just what? "See you later." he beat a hasty retreat. I don't wanna duel him at all. "Kaiba, how are we going to determine the final match-up?" he asked.
"Can't you even wait quietly?" Kaiba snorted. "What's wrong?" he queried his staff. "Why haven't you begun?"
"The eighth duelist has yet to arrive." Isono replied.
"Forget it." Kaiba ignored. "Begin." with a snap of his fingers, he brought out a bingo machine.
"A bingo machine..." Ami gawked. "Kaiba, no offense, but what!?"
"You'll see." Kaiba replied.
"We will now draw lots to determine the first round match-ups." Roland declared. "Each and every match-up will be decided in this format, starting with the first match. The match-ups will be decided using this Ultimate Bingo Machine. And when the winners of each duel are determined, the next draw will be held. In other words, you will not know who your opponent is. Until mere minutes before the match. This Bingo Machine was equipped with each of the numbers we assigned to the participants and it will randomly choose two of them. If all are ready, we shall begin the lottery for the tournament's first match-up. Ultimate Bingo, start. The first person in the first match-up is Duelist number 6: Bakura Ryou. Now, the other duelist is... the duelist match-up against Bakura Ryou in the first match is Duelist number 3: Muto Yuugi. It's been decided: Muto Yuugi vs Bakura Ryou. The tournament will be held on a special ring on the Battle Ship: the Aerial Dueling Ring Platform. Those participating in the first duel, please take the central elevator to the arena. Those wishing to act as spectators, please come along."
At the top of the blimp...
"We're dueling here?" Yami Yuugi exited the elevator.
"This is the Aerial Duel Ring?" Jonouchi wondered as the platform was raised.
"It's freezing." Shizuka shivered.
We're expected to fight in this freezing wind?" Mai echoed.
"The Battle Ship is now flying at an altitude of 1000 meters." Kaiba informed. "The air current will feel like blades cutting into your bodies, adding even tougher conditions for the duelists. This will test each participant's endurance."
"This is really exciting." Honda shivered.
"There's a reason this is called the 'finals'." Otogi agreed.
"Kaiba, just one question." Ami piped in. "What happens if one of us accidentally fall overboard?"
"That'll be none of my business." Kaiba shrugged.
"Well, that's reassuring." Ami shook her head.
On the Aerial Dueling Ring Platform...
"How about you reveal your true identity?" Yami Yuugi requested. "You're not Bakura. You're the dark personality residing within the Millennium Ring."
On the sidelines...
"The Millennium Ring?" Anzu gaped when the Millennium Ring appeared around Yami Bakura's neck.
"That idiot." Jonouchi retorted. "He's wearing that thing again?"
"That's impossible." Honda objected. "I definitely threw that Ring away. How could it have returned to Bakura?"
"He doesn't have a choice." Ami replied. "No matter how far away the other is, the Millennium Items will always find its way back to its owner."
"What do you mean?" Marik feigned ignorance. "What's a 'Millennium Ring'?"
"Even since Bakura received the Millennium Item his father bought in Egypt, he's been controlled by a dark spirit." Jonouchi explained. "I've got a bad feeling about this duel."
On the Aerial Dueling Ring Platform...
"Yuugi, I haven't fought you in a duel since that Dark Game back in the Duelist Kingdom." Yami Bakura reminded.
"Taking control of Bakura's body like this, what are you aiming for?" Yami Yuugi demanded. "Are you after my Millennium Puzzle?"
"Who knows?" Yami Bakura shrugged. "Yuugi, I've entered this tournament for one thing only, and that is for your God Card. You shouldn't even question it. If you want to dominate the gaming world, it's only natural you'd want to enter the ultimate tournament and earn the title 'Duel King'."
"Round One of the tournament finals will now begin." Isono announced.
"Now, show me if you've improved your dueling skills or not." Yami Yuugi challenged.
"I'll do more than that." Yami Bakura snapped. "I'll go first. This guy in Attack Mode." he played 'The Portrait's Secret'. "Turn over."
He played a 1200 Attack Monster in Attack Mode? Yami Yuugi frowned. Is he trying to lure me? "It's my turn." he took his turn. "I Summon 'Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts'. Attack 'The Portrait's Secret'. I also set a reverse card. Turn over."
"My turn." Yami Bakura growled. "'The Gross Ghost of Fled Dreams' in Attack Mode. Turn over."
"Using Attack Mode again?" Yami Yuugi inquired. He doesn't have any set Magic or Trap cards. His fighting style seems to have no meaning at all. "My turn. I attack with this Monster, 'Gamma The Magnet Warrior'." he played 'Gamma The Magnet Warrior' and took out 'The Gross Ghost of Fled Dreams'. "Then I direct attack the player with 'Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts'."
"My turn." Yami Bakura took his turn. "Attack Mode." he played 'Headless Knight'. "The 'Headless Knight'. Now, it's your turn."
"'Gamma The Magnet Warrior', attack." Yami Yuugi ordered. "I'll then direct attack. Turn over."
"Yuugi, you've fallen right into my trap." Yami Bakura laughed. "My turn. Hidden in my Occult deck lies one of the most terrifying cards in existence. But there's a special requirement in order to Special Summon this high-level Monster. The conditions to Summon this Monster are that I must sacrifice 3 Demon-type Monsters from my graveyard to Summon it. Now revive, ruler of the world of the dead: 'Dark Necrofear'. I Summon 'Dark Necrofear'."
"I let my guard down." Yami Yuugi admitted. "I never thought he'd Summon a first-class Monster using a method like that."
"Yuugi, I'm going to teach you the true terror of my Occult deck." Yami Bakura declared.
A Monster that requires 3 Monsters to be sleeping in the graveyard to be Summoned. Yami Yuugi growled. This thing must have powerful abilities.
"It's still my turn." Yami Bakura reminded. "I set 2 reverse cards. Turn over."
He didn't attack with 'Dark Necrofear'? Yami Yuugi wondered. Even though he could have defeated any of my Monsters on the field. Is he wary of my reverse card? Or... "My turn." he took his turn. I am unscathed with 4000 Life Points. Bakura has only 450 Life Points left. I can finish him with this card. "I sacrifice 'Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts'. I Summon 'Dark Magician Girl'."
"That little magician girl doesn't have enough Attack Points to defeat 'Dark Necrofear'." Yami Bakura snorted.
"We'll see about that." Yami Yuugi retorted. "You thought my reverse card was a Trap. This card is really 'Magic Formula'. This card increases 'Dark Magician Girl's Attack Power by 500 points. She now has 300 more Attack Points than 'Dark Necrofear'. 'Dark Magician Girl', attack."
"I thank you for defeating 'Dark Necrofear', Yuugi." Yami Bakura chuckled. "Now that 'Dark Necrofear' has been sent to the graveyard, I can activate the Field Magic 'Dark Sanctuary'. You just triggered the most terrifying switch of my Occult Combo. Yuugi, I'll let you enjoy 'Dark Sanctuary' to the fullest."
