Chapter 65: Shatter the Darkness - One Hit of the God!
"Too bad for you, Yuugi." Yami Bakura mocked. "I praise you for pushing me this far into a corner, but your defiance will now come to an end. Prepare yourself. I Summon 'Jowgen the Spiritualist'. Due to this Monster's effect, I discard one card from my hand and I can destroy all Special Summoned Monsters on the field. I'll send this to the graveyard." he discarded one card. "'Jowgen the Spiritualist', target all Special Summoned Monsters on the field. Destroy 'Dark Necrofear'. That's right, Yuugi." he laughed, re-activating 'Dark Sanctuary'. "Now that 'Dark Necrofear' is once again buried on my side, the effect of the Field Magic 'Dark Sanctuary' will return. So I can now play up to 10 Magic and Trap cards again. There's no way to stop my Occult combo. Next turn, the final letter of the message of death will be gathered. Die with the declaration of 'death'. I sacrifice 'Jowgen the Spiritualist' to meet the requirements of 'Dark Sanctuary'. I set one reverse card and end my turn. Let me tell you this, Yuugi, you can't see it, but the 'Ghost of Dark Sanctuary' has once again returned to roaming your field."
"I only have one turn left." Yami Yuugi realized. "Thanks to the effect of 'The Dark Door', I can only attack with one Monster. But one of my Monsters has been possessed by the 'Onryu'."
"That's not all." Yami Bakura bragged. "My reverse card is another 'Dark Spirit of the Silent'. In other words, no matter which Monster you pick, thanks to the 'Dark Spirit of the Silent', the 'Onryu' will automatically change your attack order to the possessed Monster."
This is truly the final turn. Yami Yuugi mused. On the End Phase of this turn, all the letters of the 'Destiny Board' will be gathered and I'll lose. But I don't have any cards in my hand that can turn this around.
"So you finally understand, Yuugi?" Yami Bakura chuckled. "You have a literal 0 percent chance o victory."
No, I still have one card that can make the impossible possible. Yami Yuugi corrected. Only one. Everything depends on the next card I draw.
Go for it, other me. Yuugi encouraged. We can't lose before we recover your memories. We've got to do whatever we can.
'I bet everything I have as a duelist on this draw." Yami Yuugi declared. "I sacrifice 'Dark Magician Girl,' 'Gamma The Magnet Warrior' and 'Big Shield Gardna', totally 3 offerings; the advent of 'Slifer the Sky Dragon'!"
"Slifer?" Yami Bakura was stunned. Just as I was about to complete the 'Destiny Board's lethal combo this turn, he managed to take the only chance he had and Summon the legendary Dragon?
My memories are locked in darkness. Yami Yuugi pondered. And I must fight in order to cast light on them. "Brace yourself, Bakura."
"Not yet." Yami Bakura sneered. "The 'Ghost of Dark Sanctuary' still wanders the field. Go, 'Ghost of Dark Sanctuary', possess God. The 'Onryu' was dispelled?" he gaped when the spirit vanished. The 'Onryu' won't work? So, my hand... I don't even have one. I don't have a wall Monster on the field. If I could only use my 'Dark Spirit of the Silent' reverse card... but I can't use it on his Monster, Slifer. Since there's no other Monster to challenge his attack order, I can't use this Trap. "I no longer have a strategy."
"I win this duel, Bakura!" Yami Yuugi declared. "'Slifer the Sky Dragon', attack!"
On the sidelines...
Rishid, still in his Marik guise, entered the dueling arena.
"Marik, what the hell are you doing here?" Jonouchi demanded.
"Calm down, Jonouchi." Honda chided, he and Otogi holding the fuming blond back.
"Interrupting other people's duels, there's no way I can forgive you." Mokuba snapped.
"Listen carefully, Yuugi." Rishid started. "That boy is being controlled by my Millennium Rod and has now become my puppet."
In the dueling ring...
"What do you mean?" Yami Yuugi demanded. "Bakura is already being controlled by his dark personality this very moment."
On the sidelines...
"Correct." Rishid agreed. "That boy is being controlled by two people. I'll show you proof. I'll release his real personality this very moment."
In the dueling ring...
Unexpectedly, Yami Bakura retreated back into the Millennium Ring, giving Bakura Ryou his body back. "Yuugi, where am I?" he turned to his opponent. "Why am I here?"
On the sidelines...
"As you can see, that boy is badly injured." Rishid pointed out. "Yuugi, it's true an attack from God will grant you your victory, but the damage from the shock could very well take the boy's life. Are you will to do that?"
In the dueling ring...
"You're using Bakura's life as a shield, Marik?" Yami Yuugi snapped.
On the sidelines...
"That's low, Marik." Jonouchi barked.
In the dueling ring...
If I attack Bakura, this duel is over. Yami Yuugi noted. But, Bakura will...
On the sidelines...
"Yuugi, just attack!" Ami shouted, much to the shock of the others.
"Ami!?" Anzu blinked.
"Just trust me." Ami insisted. "It's only a matter of self-preservation; the Millennium Ring's spirit won't let his host be killed; he needs his host."
In the dueling ring...
"The little girl's right." Yami Bakura regained possession. "Yuugi, I'll humbly admit my defeat this time. Attack me. This host is very important to me. I can't allow him to be killed off. So come at me, Yuugi."
"'Slifer the Sky Dragon', direct attack." Yami Yuugi ended the duel.
"I'll be the one to gain the power of darkness in the end!" Yami Bakura declared, letting the attack wash over him.
"The winner is Muto Yuugi." Isono announced. "The first round of the tournament is over."
"Bakura!" Yami Yuugi ran over.
"Bakura, I'll carry you on my back." Honda offered.
"Hang tight, Bakura." Jonouchi heaved Bakura onto Honda's back.
In Bakura's room...
"We did the best we can for now." Otogi noted, the group having put Bakura on his bed. "But he should get some good rest for the time being."
"Even though Yuugi won the first round of the tournament, it just doesn't feel right." Jonouchi admitted.
"Wouldn't it be better for us to land and drop Bakura off at a hospital?" Honda suggested.
"You're right." Yuugi nodded. "Let's go ask Kaiba."
"'I'll stay here to keep an eye on Ryou." Ami stated, locking up her portable first aid kit.
"Me too." Anzu piped it.
"We'll leave him to the two of you." Honda replied.
"It's gone." Yuugi blinked. "The Millennium Ring; Bakura's Millennium Ring went missing after he was hit by the attack."
"Gosh, you can't take your eyes off that ring for a second." Honda sighed.
"We'll search for that thing later." Jonouchi suggested. "But let's go talk to Kaiba first."
"Isn't it time you showed yourself, Marik?" Ami asked, after the rest were gone.
Anzu's eyes blanked out as Marik took over, holding out the retrieved Millennium Ring.
