Chapter 70: Ra's Anger - Stand Up! Jonouchi
"This turn, I shall prove that I am a wielder of the God Cards." Rishid declared. "Right now, the God Card is resting in the Holy Ark. I must sacrifice 'Mystical Beast Serket' and half of my Life Points to open the lid. But the moment I do, the 'Winged Dragon of Ra' will be Summoned to the field. I give up 'Mystical Beast Serket' along with my own life." he turned to the 'Temple of the Kings'. "O soul of the God that sleeps in the ark, rise and show us your sacred form, 'Winged Dragon of Ra'. Come forth, God of all Gods. Ordinarily, it takes three sacrifices to Summon a God. Ra's Attacks and Defense Points are determined by the total Attack and Defense Points of the three sacrificial Monsters. But Serket has absorbed 'Jinzo', 'Insect Queen', and 'The Legendary Fisherman', totaling in three Monsters. Therefore, my servant, the 'Winged Dragon of Ra', has Attack Points totaling those three Monsters' Attack Points. It has 5825 Points. Jonouchi, you only have 200 Life Points remaining. When the God attacks this turn, your loss is guaranteed. Prepare yourself, Jonouchi. 'Winged Dragon of Ra', attack him."
On the sidelines...
At the same moment Rishid ordered his faux God Card to attack, the Millennium Items started reacting.
What the hell is this aura? Marik looked at the God Card in his deck. I feel it. Anger; it's getting stronger by the second. Impossible, the true God within my deck is emitting an aura of anger?
On the Aerial Duel Ring...
"What's wrong?" Rishid asked. "Why isn't God attacking?"
On the sidelines...
"It's acting a little strange." Honda noted.
"Ra's form..." Yami Yuugi gaped when the fiery God released its flames.
What the? Marik was puzzled. That's not what Ra is supposed to look like.
"That's the God's wrath." Ami supplied. "God is punishing those unworthy of commanding him." ignoring that startled looks from everyone around her, she took on her Maat personnel to communicate with the 'Winged Dragon of Ra'. Father, the Goddess of Balance spoke. Please still your hand.
I am listening, child. Ra responded.
On the Aerial Duel Ring...
"What's going on here?" Jonouchi looked around as the skies grew overcast and lightning streaked across the sky.
On the sidelines...
That's it. Marik realized what was happening. God's wrath is striking down the players of the game.
On the Aerial Duel Ring...
Has Fate not accepted me as your real son? Rishid mused, readying himself of the punishment to be smelted on him. Are you saying that I do not have the right to command you? A single lightning bolt struck him on the head and his fake Millennium Rod scattered the pieces.
On the sidelines...
The Millennium Rod. Yami Yuugi watched, wide-eyed. So, this man isn't the real Marik.
Rishid... Marik stepped forward, worried about his foster brother.
On the Aerial Duel Ring...
Marik-sama... Rishid fell over, face-down on the ground.
"Hang in there." Jonouchi called out. He was stopped short by a lightning strike at his feet before another lightning bolt hit him on the head and causing him to pass out.
"Both duelists have Life Points left." Isono stated. "Both duelists have to abide by the rules, regardless of the situation. Otherwise, they will both be disqualified."
"Wait." Kaiba intervened. "We will wait for five minutes. Whoever shows the greater will to continue the duel within the next five minutes, shall be declared the winner."
"Just three minutes remain." Isono checked his watch. "In the case neither player stands up, both of them will be kicked out of the tournament."
You mustn't... Rishid stirred. If you awaken that personality.. "I cannot afford to fall here." he rose to his feet. "Marik-sama..." he whispered, falling back on the ground.
"Guys..." Jonouchi had somehow managed to get back on his feet, seemingly unscathed. "Why's he on the ground?" he spotted Rishid still unconscious. "Now I remember; when he Summoned Ra, me and him were both attacked."
"This duel's winner is Katsuya Jonouchi." Isono announced.
"Snap out of it." Jonouchi hurried over to Rishid, just as the platform was lowered.
"Jonouchi." Rishid winced, stirring. "I am proud to have fought against you."
"Me too." Jonouchi agreed. "You were really a good duelist. But you aren't Marik, right? Then who are you?"
"Don't worry about it." Rishid pleaded. "Please, stop Marik-sama..." he reached out to the struggling Marik.
That's the real Millennium Rod. Yami Yuugi recognized the Millennium Item in Marik's hand. So, he's the real Marik.
On the sidelines...
"That's right." Marik admitted. "I'm the very Marik you've been fighting this whole time."
"So, that means Namu is..." Anzu gaped.
"Yuugi, that was merely an alias to get closer to you guys." Marik confessed. "I guess you call it... sacrificing your friends for a better cause? A cause that stretches back 3000 years ago; Yuugi, in order to destroy you, I will do whatever is necessary."
"Negotiation complete." Ami whispered, just as Yami Marik was struggling to surface. "Condition has been accepted." turning to the straining Marik as he fought for control, she revealed the Millennium Scales. "Resonance, Seal." the Millennium Scales shone its light on Marik, trapping his darker personality back in his mind.
"I can't hear him anymore..." Marik was astonished to find the voice of his darker half silenced. "Why?"
"Don't misinterpret my actions." Ami replied. "That is just an agreement I hammered out with Ra. Yuugi, listen carefully. I've made an agreement I made with Ra; Rishid's soul will be held as collateral until you fulfill the one condition that was agreed upon."
"Condition?" Yami Yuugi echoed.
"Yes." Ami nodded. "I convey the Sun God Ra's words: at the end of this tournament, the Nameless Pharaoh must obtain all three God Cards; only then will Rishid's soul be released."
