Chapter 72: Steal the God Card

"My turn." Marik took his turn. "I set one card on the field. Come forth, 'Makyura the Destructor' in Attack Mode. Furthermore, I play a Magic Card with 'Makyura the Destructor'; I attach the 'Black Pendant' to it. This card increases my Monster's Attack Power by 500 points. 'Makyura the Destructor' attacks."

"Trap Card open." Mai countered. "'Amazon Archers'. This Trap Card keeps your enemy's Monster from moving and lowers its Attack Points by 500. Now the 'Unfriendly Amazon' counterattacks."

"The 'Black Pendent's effect states that when the Monster it is attached to is sent to the graveyard, the opposing player receives 500 worth of damage." Marik stated. "And now, my turn comes to an end, but 'Makyura the Destructor' has a Special Ability. When it's defeated, I can instantly activate a Trap Card from my hand. And this is the Trap Card I'm using: 'Rope of Life'. This Card selects one of my Monsters destroyed in this turn, reviving it with 800 extra Attack Points and allowing it to attack again. Go, 'Makyura the Destructor'."

"My turn." Mai declared. "I play 'Amazon Chain Master' in Attack Mode. Then I play a reverse card and end my turn."

"It's my turn." Marik drew a card. "My Card is 'Holding Arms'. I'm using this to attack your 'Amazon Chain Master'." he had 'Holding Arms' take 'Amazon Chain Master' captive. "This Monster has the 'Power of Invincibility' ability that renders it unkillable against all opposing Monster's attacks for three turns." he held out three fingers. "It is true that 'Holding Arms' doesn't hold enough Attack Points to defeat 'Amazon Chain Master', but it's more than enough to keep it from moving."

"Reverse Card, open." Mai countered. "Magic Card: 'Grave Arm'. I'll bury one Monster with this Magic Card."

"My 'Holding Arms' is still in Invincible State." Marik reminded. "That effect won't work on it. Unless..."

"Very smart." Mai grinned. "'Amazon Chain Master'." she sent her Monster to the graveyard. "The 'Amazon Chain Master' has a Special Ability. I give up 1000 Points from my Life to take one Monster from your deck. And the one I'm taking is your God Card, the 'Winged Dragon of Ra'. It's mine now." she snatched the God Card. "Your God Card, the 'Winged Dragon of Ra'."

"You foolish, foolish woman." Marik shook his head. "The three God Cards are no ordinary Cards; they choose their rightful wielder."

"My turn." Mai ignored Marik's warning. "I'll set 2 reverse Cards on my field. As well as 'Amazon Fighter' in Attack Position. My turn's over."

"My turn." Marik drew a card. "I'll attack 'Amazon Fighter' with 'Makyura the Destructor'."

"You fell for it." Mai countered. "Magic Card, activate, 'Amazon Spellcaster'. Thanks to this Magic Effect, our Monsters will switch Attack Points. 'Amazon Fighter', counterattack 'Makyura the Destructor'."

"Trap Card: 'Card of Last Will'." Marik played his face-down Card. "When one of your Monster's Attack Points is increased, you are permitted to draw from your deck until you hold 5 Cards. And one more 'Makyura the Destructor's Special Ability: when 'Makyura the Destructor' is destroyed, I can activate a Trap Card from my hand. Trap Card activate, 'Nightmare Wheel'. The 'Nightmare Wheel' will strip away 500 of your Life Points every turn."

"I'll match Trap with Trap." Mai snorted. "Reverse Trap activate, 'Rescue Operation'. This Card allows me to take one Trapped Monster back to my hand and play another Monster Card from my hand in its place."

"Do you plan on Summoning 'Winged Dragon of Ra' to the field?" Marik frowned.

"No, I know the 'Winged Dragon of Ra's Attack Points are based on the total Attack Points of the Monsters used to Summon it." Mai replied. "So, if I called it out using that method, Ra's Attack Power would be zero. But there is a way for me to Summon the God Card. I rescue 'Amazon Fighter' from the 'Nightmare Wheel' and return her to my hand. And I'll play this Monster based on 'Rescue Operation's effect, 'Cyber Harpie'. And now, it's my turn. I play the Magic Card, 'Graceful Charity'. This Card lets me draw 3 Cards from my deck and discard 2 from my hand. I'll let you see it, me controlling God. God will now obey me. This is my trump Card. Magic Card activate, 'Elegant Egotist'." she transformed 'Cyber Harpie' into 'Harpie Lady Sisters'. I then sacrifice my 3 Harpies and Summon the 'Winged Dragon of Ra'. That's..." she breathed when the 'Winged Dragon of Ra' manifested. "Winged Dragon of Ra'? This isn't possible..." he gawked at the sealed golden sphere that had appeared.
