Chapter 80: Counteroffensive Rainbow Arch
"I have to endure this." Yami Yuugi swore.
"I Summon 'Melchid the Four-Face Beast' in Attack Mode." Konosuke played his turn. "I don't think I'll have to attack you anymore this turn, but your 'Obnoxious Celtic Guardian' is really an eyesore on your side of the field. Since I can't defeat him with a Monster holding 1900 Attack Points or greater, it's really an irritating Monster. However, a less powerful Monster will be more than enough to strike down that 'Obnoxious Celtic Guardian' of yours. Go, 'Melchid the Four-Face Beast'. Attack 'Obnoxious Celtic Guardian', then use your remaining power to strike the enemy player. Is it over?" he smirked.
"It's not over yet." Yami Yuugi got back to his feet. "I still have 400 Life Points left."
"It would be much easier for you yo stay down on the ground." Konosuke advised. "But since you did stand up, I have no choice. I'll beat on you until you never get up again. I end my turn. Allow me to give you a small present of hope as you wallow in despair. A Prussian general once said 'The crown of honor belongs only to the final victor.' The end justifies the means. Thus, the only one who stands victorious when all is said and done is the true winner. So try your best."
"My turn." Yami Yuugi took his turn.
"That's it." Konosuke grinned. "Think nice and long. But there's another saying, 'When you have the upper hand, in a pinch, you gain the courage to carry on. But when you face a pinch you have no control over, you lose all hope.' So, do you have control over the situation? It's not good to think too hard."
"'Kuriboh', what are you trying to say?" Yami Yuugi looked at his flustered Deck Master.
"I think 'Kuriboh' is telling to tell us to set it face-down on the field." Yuugi piped in.
"I think the only way to change this situation is to use your Deck Master ability, 'Kuriboh'." Yami Yuugi nodded. "I'll set one Card on the field in reverse position. Turn end."
"It's my turn." Konosuke took his turn. "I activate the 'Offerings to the Doomed' Magic Card from my hand. I destroy the only thing you've got to attack me with, 'Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast'. Because of the effects of 'Offerings to the Doomed', I can destroy one of your Monsters."
"But the Special Ability that activates only when 'Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast' is destroyed lets me Special Summon 'Berfomet'."
"You situation still hasn't changed." Konosuke scoffed. "Rather, you could even say it's getting worse for you. I'll then sacrifice 'Wall of Illusion' and 'Melchid the Four-Face Beast' to Summon 'Rainbow Snake Eingana'. I use 'Rainbow Snake Eingana' to attack 'Berfomet'. Now then, you've lost your wall. Just like a castle that has its walls breached. It's time to really put an end to things. Now then, let me launch the final attack. I will finally get a body back. I must thank you. I use 'Ruklamba the Spirit King' to direct attack the player. What in the world?" he exclaimed when a wall of multiplying 'Kuriboh' fended off the direct attack. "Reduce his Lift Points."
"Thank you, 'Kuriboh'." Yuugi switched over.
"You changed to Type A Yuugi." Konosuke realized. "Why isn't your Life Points gone?"
"It's because of my Deck Master, 'Kuriboh's ability lets him multiply and create a protection wall for the player." Yuugi explained.
"Aibou, why did you switch with me?" Yami Yuugi inquired.
"Because if you take anymore damage from him, your mental state will suffer." Yuugi replied. "And I haven't taken any damage yet."
"Aibou..." Yami Yuugi instantly took over when Yuugi passed out. "Although our Life Points aren't gone, we took major damage. Leave the rest of me and 'Kuriboh'."
"Saved by your Deck Master's ability, were you?" Konosuke scoffed. "But don't' forget about the risk of Summoning your Deck Master. When your Deck Master is destroyed, regardless of whether you have lost all of your Life, you lose the duel. 'Kuriboh' can't be compared with my Monsters, it can't withstand my next attack. This time, when I deliver the final attack, you really will be finished."
"I won't give this duel up." Yami Yuugi declared. "My turn. I have something to tell you. No matter how many ancient proverbs you've memorized and recited, they aren't your words. You should mold them into your own words. 'The crown of honor belongs only to the final victor.' Those are the words you said yourself earlier. Right now, I'm going to make then into my own words and give them back to you."
"Don't be euphemistic." Konosuke growled. "Just what are you playing at?"
"Reverse Card, open." Yami Yuugi played his Card. "Magic Card: 'Rainbow Blessing'. I will then equip 'Rainbow Blessing' with my Deck Master 'Kuriboh'. I'll then Summon 'Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight' in Attack Mode. The Rainbow Arch created by 'Rainbow Blessing' allows him to pass over enemy Monsters and direct attack the player. Go, 'Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight', direct attack 'Deepsea Warrior'."
"Oh no." Konosuke gaped. "I can't use my Deck Master Ability against direct attacks. Curse you..." he hissed when 'Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight's attack hit him dead-on. "I almost got myself a body and came so close to returning to the real world."
