Chapter 93: Escape!
"A missile?" Yuugi echoed.
"So that means Gozaburo wasn't bluffing." Jonouchi realized.
"But why is it coming here?" Otogi wondered.
"I don't have enough time to explain the details." Noah replied. "You have to go to the Game Center immediately. I can make another exit to the Real World over there."
"Should we trust him?" Anzu pondered.
"I trust him." Yuugi stated.
"You're right." Ami nodded. "We don't have much choice."
In the duel ring...
"Is Mokuba safe?" Kaiba asked.
"He is." Noah confirmed. "Don't worry about him."
"Noah, what the hell is the meaning of this?" Gozaburo demanded. "Did you redirect the missile's target?"
"Yes, that's what I did, Father." Noah confessed. "I'm sorry, but the Virtual System is now completely under my control. Now, you can't access the network from any area of the program."
"What did you just say?" Gozaburo snapped. "Are you intending to betray me? You intend to kill your own father with a missile?"
"I'm sorry, Father." Noah sighed.
"That's a pretty good plan you thought up." Kaiba snorted. "I may have underestimated you, Noah."
"Just hurry up and get out of there, Seto." Noah urged. "There's no time."
"Don't screw with me." Gozaburo snarled. "In that case, Seto, I'll steal your body and escape to the Real World." he turned into a raging ghastly form of vengeance and shot towards Kaiba.
"Back off, Gozaburo." Kaiba barked. "Anyone who calls himself a duelist must not leave the arena until the duel is over. Noah, how many minutes do we have left?"
"You've about eight minutes and forty seconds." Noah answered.
"That's more than enough time." Kaiba decided. "Let's continue the duel, Gozaburo. If you beat me, I'll let you take my body. It's a duel that determines which of us returns to the Real World alive."
"Don't you dare forget what you just said." Gozaburo returned to his side of the duel ring. "I will be the one returning to the Real World. My turn. Bow before the mighty Exodia, Seto."
"I activate my reverse Card, 'Negate Attack'." Kaiba countered. "'Exodia Necross' attack is negated."
"You sure have a hard time accepting that your enemy is stronger than you, Seto." Gozaburo mocked. "I would be delighted to show you that it's impossible for you to surpass me."
"Don't underestimate me, Gozaburo." Kaiba cautioned. "'Exodia' isn't as immortal as you would like to think. I just figured out how to defeat it. My turn. I activate the Magic Card, 'Shrink'. It cuts the Attack Power of 'Exodia Necross' in half. I then sacrifice 'Vorse Raider' in order to Summon 'Luster Dragon #2'. It's true that 'Exodia Necross' is the ultimate Monster that stands on the same level as the Gods. But it has a weakness, just as I thought. With the amazing Attack Power 'Exodia Necross' possesses, it's obviously going to be put in Attack Mode. As such, as long as you attack it with a Monster holding higher Attack Points than it, the player takes the difference as damage. 'Exodia Necross' may indeed be immortal, but you, Gozaburo, you're as mortal as they come."
"Then just try and beat me." Gozaburo snarled. "'Exodia Necross' Attack Points go up because of the battle it just had. My turn. So what now?" he had 'Exodia Necross' take out 'Luster Dragon #2'. "'Exodia Necross' Attack Points will go up even further.
In the Game Center...
"The exit is in that Dance Battle Game up in front of you." Noah informed the girls.
Shizuka went first, teleporting off, before Anzu took her turn. Ami went third, taking Shizuka's previous spot.
In the Virtual Pod room...
"I must be inside the floating mobile fortress." Anzu realized, her pod opening.
"That means we made it back, doesn't it?" Shizuka awoke.
"Mokuba?" Ami frowned at the person at the controls.
"Now to get Jonouchi and the others." Noah continued working.
In the Game Center...
"Step on the Dance Battle Game." Noah informed the five boys, Yuugi, Jonouchi and Marik having taken out the Monster pursuers after them.
"Otogi, Jonouchi, go now." Yuugi instructed.
"Yuugi, I have a favor to ask of you." Noah requested, after Honda and Jonouchi vanished.
In the Virtual Pod room...
"Six minutes, eighteen seconds until missile launch." the computer's voice reported.
"Seto's in the Battle Dome of Kaiba Corporation." Noah told Yuugi. "He's dueling against my Father. Seto doesn't plan on escaping until they settle the duel. That's why I'm going to create an exit leading to Kaiba Corporation. I'm begging you, Yuugi, please bring Seto back."
"Yuugi, I'm coming with you." Jonouchi voiced.
"I'll be fine on my own." Yuugi assured. "You get ready to leave with the others."
"Yuugi, there's no time for this." Noah cut in. "I'm creating a path leading straight to Kaiba Corporation."
In the Game Center...
"Let's go, 'Dark Magician'." Yuugi recalled his Monster and ran into the door that had just appeared in front of him.
In the Virtual Pod room...
"No offense, Noah." Ami started. "But why the sudden change of heart? Even though you hate Kaiba so much."
"This body..." Noah replied. "Mokuba's body is pleading with me, 'Please save nii-sama'."
"I'm sorry..." Jonouchi looked away. "For doubting you."
"Of course you would." Noah scoffed.
"Noah," Ami voiced. "I do believe if circumstances were different; if you were still alive when your father took in Kaiba and Mokuba, the three of you would have had grown up together as siblings."
"Three minutes and fifty seconds until missile launch." the computer chirped.
"We're out of time." Noah realized. "You all had better get back to the Battle Ship and prepare to leave."
In the duel ring...
"My turn." Kaiba took his turn. "I activate the Magic Card, 'Pot of Greed'. It lets me draw two Cards from my deck. I play a Monster in face-down Defense Mode. Followed by setting a Reverse Card on the field. Turn over."
"Exodia's Attack Power has increased to 4800 Attack Points." Gozaburo chuckled. "If you've got a Monster with higher Attack Points than that, let's see it."
"Gozaburo, you're nothing more than a third-rate duelist." Kaiba retorted. "I'm going to show you how foolish it is to rely on nothing but powerful Monsters to win a duel."
"My turn." Gozaburo took his turn. He had 'Exodia Necross' take out Kaiba's face-down Monster, 'Ancient Lamp'. "What now? He's got 5800 Attack Points now."
"My turn." Kaiba took his turn. "Magic Card, 'Monster Reborn'. I revive 'Ancient Lamp' from my graveyard. And thanks to 'Ancient Lamp's effect, I can Special Summon 'La Jinn, the Mystical Genie of the Lamp'. I've been fighting nothing more than Exodia's ghost up until now. There's no point in fighting a deceased spirit. What I need is beat its very soul. 'Soul Demolition', activate. With the cost of 500 Life Points per Card, the Trap Card 'Soul Demolition' lets both players remove the Monsters in each other's graveyards from play. I have only three Cards in my graveyard, 'Luster Dragon #2', Vorse Raider' and 'Spirit Ryu'. But the number in your graveyard, Gozaburo, is five. We'll start with the first one 'Left Leg of the Forbidden One'. Next up is 'Right Leg of the Forbidden One'. The 'Left Arm of the Forbidden One'. 'Right Arm of the Forbidden One'. And now to finish this. 'Exodia the Forbidden One'." with all five pieces of 'Exodia the Forbidden One' returned from the graveyard, all of 'Exodia Necross' effects were negated. "Next, I sacrifice 'La Jinn, the Mystical Genie of the Lamp', along with his 'Ancient Lamp', come forth 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon'. And that's checkmate, Gozaburo." he ended the duel after Blue-Eyes took out Exodia.
"I lost..." Gozaburo gaped. "Absurd. I spent hours on end sorting through data files to create the perfect strategy."
"I suggest you keep in mind that my strength can't be measured by data." Kaiba scoffed.
"Unforgivable." Gozaburo snarled. "Don't think you'll be leaving that easily, Seto." he reverted back to his rampaging ghastly form to attack his adopted son.
"Yuugi." Kaiba turned, spotting Yuugi had used the arena's controls to move his stand out of harms way. He leapt off the stand into the small opening the controls were at.
With Kaiba in tow, Yuugi and Kaiba took off out of the building.
In the Virtual Pod room...
"Three, two, one... ignition." the computer droned. "Launching missile."
"This missile has just launched. " Noah informed.
On top of Kaiba Corporation...
"You have nowhere to run." Gozaburo cornered the two duelists.
"Jump." Noah instructed.
"What?" Gozaburo gaped when Kaiba and Yuugi jumped off the building, a swirling portal opened before them.
In the Virtual Pod room...
"This place..." Kaiba awoke. "The Real World. Mokuba." he turned to see Mokuba inside the Virtual Pod, where Noah returned Mokuba's body to him.
"Nii-sama, Noah..." Mokuba snapped his eyes open.
On top of Kaiba Corporation...
"Damn you all." Gozaburo cursed. "You won't get away, Seto."
"It's no use, Father." Noah voiced. "I deleted all the exits. You can't get out of here now."
In the corridor of the mobile fortress...
"Noah went back to the Virtual World." Mokuba explained, the three males were dashing towards the Battle Ship. "He said he can't abandon Gozaburo."
On top of Kaiba Corporation...
"What do you think you are doing, Noah?" Gozaburo demanded. "Create a path right this instant." he gripped Noah in his fist.
"I finally understand." Noah reappeared behind Gozaburo. "Seto has Mokuba and Yuugi has all his friends. I always thought I was alone. But I was wrong."
"I don't recall asking such a ridiculous question." Gozaburo roared.
"I have my father." Noah continued.
"Silence, just let me out of here." Gozaburo ordered.
"The only family I have..." Noah added. "Father, let's put an end to all this. I want to stay by your side forever."
"What do you think you are doing, Noah?" Gozaburo snapped, Noah anchoring him to the ground. "Let go of me. I still have something I need to do."
"We died a long time ago, Father." Noah reminded.
At the hanger of the mobile fortress...
The Battle Ship was hovering above the ground, ready to take off once all its occupants were on board.
Grabbing Mokuba by the back of his shirt, Kaiba tossed his younger brother towards Otogi who was get the drop-down staircase while he jumped aboard.
Jonouchi managed to snatch Yuugi before the Battle Ship took off and the missile hit the fortress.
On top of Kaiba Corporation...
"No!" Gozaburo cried out, the missile destroying his body. "I don't want to die yet."
In the Battle Ship control room...
"Seto-sama, the ship..." Isono turned to his boss. "The ship won't be able to withstand this."
"Transfer the system to me." Kaiba took the commander's seat. "Gozaburo, I won't be swallowed by the likes of you." he slammed the accelerator button, enabling the Battle Ship to escape by turning it into a jet. "Now that the hindrance is out of the way, our fight is just getting started. " he announced. "The location of the tournament finals, Alcatraz, is waiting for us. On to the real Alcatraz. Full speed ahead."
