Chapter 94: The Land of the Decisive Battle, Alcatraz

"We're almost there, nii-sama." Mokuba noted, seeing their destination ahead.

"Yeah." Kaiba nodded. "It's the pitiful wreckage symbolizing Gozaburo's remains. This island, Alcatraz, was built as a military industrial facility bu Kaiba Corporation. Atop the wreckage stands the Duel Tower. That will be the final battlefield for this Battle City tournament. The time has finally come to settle things. Marik holds the 'Winged Dragon of Ra', Yuugi holds 'Osiris the Sky Dragon', and I hold 'Obelisk the Tormentor'. The one to obtain all three God Cards as well as stand atop the Duel Tower in victory, will be me. Just you wait, Alcatraz. The climax of this fight is about to start."

Meanwhile...

"Nee-san." Marik addressed his elder sister who was sitting vigil over the still unconscious Rishid. "How's Rishid? I see." he nodded, seeing Ishizu shake her head.

"It's finally begun," Ishizu told her younger brother. "The final battle."

"Attention, we are about to arrive at Alcatraz." Isono voiced over the speakers. "All participating duelists should prepare their decks."

"Rishid was struck by the wrath of Ra." Ishizu reminded. "Waking him up won't be that easy. You'd be go and prepare, Marik."

"I understand, nee-san." Marik nodded.

"So Bakura still hasn't woken up." Yuugi noted, the two cousins looked over the sleeping Bakura.

"He took a direct hit from Slifer." Ami reminded.

"There you two are." Anzu poked her head in.

"We've been looking for you, Yuugi." Honda stated. "We're about to arrive at our destination."

On the outskirts of Alcatraz...

"It's time to go, duelists." Kaiba declared. "I give you permission to step into my fortress of pride."

"So, this is it." Jonouchi gawked.

"It's so big." Honda gaped. "It almost seems to go straight up through the sky."

"This is a battleground where duelists battle for their place at the top." Kaiba addressed the group. "The Duel Tower. i''ll defeat you, Yuugi. And I'll be the one standing at the top."

Upon his declaration of war, Yami Yuugi took over.

"Then, let's get moving." Mokuba voiced. "Follow me."

"By the way, Kaiba." Marik spoke up. "Have you decided the order of battle for the semi-finals?"

"Just relax." Mokuba assured. "You'll find out what's gonna happen when you get to the tower and learn your fate."

In the Duel Tower...

"All duelists and observers, welcome to the Duel Tower." Isono greeted. "We will now hold the Battle City tournament semi-finals. The four remaining duelists will head to the top of the tower through four different doors. Please choose one out of the four doors presented before you. None of the doors give any sort of advantage in this duel. So please don't worry."

"We're headed this way." Mokuba led the others off once all four semi-finalists picked their doors.

"They're gonna do this inside here?" Honda blinked in disbelief after Mokuba led them to the dueling site.

"Now that you mention it, how are the match-ups going to be decided?" Anzu wondered.

"That is about to be decided." Isono interjected as all four duelists shot up through their respective elevators on their Battle Card System stands.

"For proud duelists such as yourselves, it would be unfair to decide your opponents with a mere lottery." Isono explained. "So, the semi-finals shall be decided with a game. The rules are simple. This will be a four-way duel between the remaining duelists. The first two to arrive at the top as well as the two remaining at the bottom, will be pairing up in the semi-finals. Naturally, the game will be Duel Monsters. You will start with 4000 Life Points. As you lose Life Points, you will climb closer to the top. In other words, the two who lose first will be the first to the top. Let me explain the rules. Each player will use your regular 40-Card deck which you prepared for the game tournament. Shuffle it and set it in the Duel Disc. When you attach the Duel Disk to the connectors, your Cards, as well as the other players', will be displayed on the viewing screen. All four players will take separate turns. You may attack any player you choose. The first two duelists who rise to the top will be in the first match of the semi-finals."

"That's a lot better than I was expecting." Anzu noted. "So the outcome of this match has nothing to do with the tournament rankings."

"You're wrong." Otogi corrected. "This is the most important duel of this tournament. It means you get to choose the opponent you want to duel. For example, say Jonouchi wants to fight Yuugi first in the semi-finals, the other two could end up supporting Yuugi so they can fight him. On the other hand, the two could gang up on him and attack all at once."

"In other words, the very first person they would target is..." Ami trailed, the others turned to Jonouchi.

"Are you all ready?" Isono shouted. "We will now decide who goes first and the order of play amongst the four of you. Each player must choose one Monster Card from his deck. Whoever has the highest Attack Power takes the first turn. However, that Monster Card must be removed from your deck for the duration of this duel. Now please present your Cards."

Kaiba pulled out 'Masked Beast Des Gardius' with an Attack Power of 3300.

Marik's choice was the 1700 Attack Power 'Lekunga'.

Yami Yuugi picked 'Feral Imp' with 1300 Attack Power.

Jonouchi went with 'Swordsman of Landstar' with an Attack Power of 500.

"The order has been decided." Isono declared. "Kaiba Seto will be taking the first turn. "Then Marik Ishtar, Muto Yuugi and Katsuya Jonouchi in the rear. The Battle City Final Match Preliminary Round will be held as a Battle Royale. Duel start."

"I place one Card face-down and Summon 'Vorse Raider' in Attack Mode." Kaiba took the first turn. "Turn end."

"My turn." Marik took his turn. "I Summon 'Newdoria' in Defense Mode. Turn end."

"My turn." Yami Yuugi took his turn. "I Summon 'Big Shield Gardna' in Defense Mode. I'll also play two face-down Cards. Turn end."

"My turn." Jonouchi took his turn. "I set a reverse Card and end my turn."

"My turn." the round returned back to Kaiba. "'Vorse Raider', go ahead and direct attack this deadbeat of a nobody."

"I won't let you." Yami Yuugi countered. "Reverse Card, open. Permanent Trap: '"The Regulation of Tribe'. The chosen type selected by this Trap Card cannot attack. And the Tribe-Type I've chosen is the Beast-Warriors."
