Chapter 95: Battle Royal!

"Damn you, Yuugi." Kaiba snarled. "You're backing Jonouchi up?"

"I owe you one, Yuugi." Jonouchi called.

"I see now." Kaiba snorted. "A scrub like you needs Yuugi's protection. I suppose a deadbeat like you can't manage to be a duelist on his own. It's fine if you two friendship-obsessing dweebs want to keep your promise to duel, but think about it, Jonouchi. Why would Yuugi help somebody like you? I'll tell you why; because the semi-finals is your only chance to fight. Jonouchi, no matter who you face in the tournament semi-finals, your chances of getting to the finals are zero. On top of your general lack of skills, the face remains that the three of us have God Cards. Yuugi knows the semi-finals will be your only chance to face him in battle. And Yuugi also knows that he'll be able to easily wipe the floor with you as a warm-up in the real challenge. I can't believe you would try such underhanded tactics right in the middle of the Battle City Finals. You really insult me."

"Kaiba, I won't allow you to insult him any further." Yami Yuugi barked.

"If you want to prove my words wrong, shouldn't you leave your friendship nonsense out of the window and settle things with me fair and square in the proper battlefield?" Kaiba mocked.

"Knock it off, Yuugi." Jonouchi interjected. "I'm grateful you saved me back there. But this is my fight and my fight alone. Don't be rattled by Kaiba's crap. I'll see you in the final, Yuugi."

"Gentlemen," Marik coughed. "Can we please continue with this duel? My turn. I set a reverse Card. And then, I Summon 'Lord Poison' in Attack Mode. Then 'Newdoria' goes into Attack Mode. 'Newdoria' attacks Kaiba's 'Vorse Raider'."

"Counter him." Kaiba barked. "'Vorse Raider'. 'Newdoria' is defeated." he took out the attacking Monster.

"His Special Ability activates." Marik continued. "The moment he is placed in the graveyard, his curse destroys one Monster on the field. And I choose 'Vorse Raider'. I take 700 points of damage this turn because of that attack. But I will now activate this Magic Card from my hand. 'Spell of Pain'."

'Spell of Pain'. Yami Yuugi recognized the Card. It's a Card that transfers damage you received to one of the other players.

"Now, I wonder who will take this effect." Marik grinned. "Jonouchi, sorry about this, but I will activate this effect on you. And as a result, your gondola raises 700 units thanks to the points you lost. Turn end."

"My turn." Yami Yuugi took his turn. "I sacrifice 'Big Shield Gardna' to Summon 'Beast of Gilfer'. Here I go, Kaiba." he had 'Beast of Gilfer' direct attack Kaiba.

"That was naive, Yuugi." Kaiba snapped. "I read through that strategy. Reverse Trap, activate. 'Attack Guidance Armor'. This Card redirects any attack sent my way to the Monster attached to this armor. I could make your 'Beast of Gilfer' attack himself, Yuugi. Now then, who do I pick? I place the 'Attack Guidance Armor' on your Monster, Marik. You're going to take 'Beast of Gilfer's attack."

"Can't be help, then." Marik shrugged. "Trap Card activate. 'Mirror Force'. So, Yuugi, your Monster's attack will be negated and all your Monsters will be destroyed."

"We'll see about that." Yami Yuugi smirked. "Counter Trap, activate. 'Seven Tools of the Bandit'. This Card negates the activation of your 'Mirror Force' and destroys it."

"Marik, you just lost some of your Life in the attack just now." Kaiba barked. "Therefore, your gondola will rise."

"Wait a moment." Marik cut in. "I hope you don't think you can simply forget this, Yuugi: the cost of using 'Seven Tools of the Bandit' you just played is 1000 of your Life Points. So, you'll be rising with me."

"My turn." Jonouchi called out. "I Summon 'Gearfried the Iron Knight', Attack Mode. Here goes, Kaiba. I'm going to direct attack you."

"Damn you..." Kaiba glared. "How dare a lowly scrub like you wound me? I also place a Card face-down. Turn over."

"My turn." Kaiba took his turn. "I set three reverse Cards. I then Summon 'Blade Knight' in Attack Mode. I'll be attacking you, Marik. 'Blade Knight', direct attack Marik."
