Chapter 98: Poet of Hell, Helpoemer

"My turn." Marik took his turn. "I set two reverse Cards. Turn over."

"My turn." Jonouchi took his turn. "I Summon 'Baby Dragon' in Defense Mode. 'Rocket Warrior', attack 'Drillago'."

"Reverse Card, open." Marik countered. "'Card of Last Will'. 'Card of Last Will' activates whenever one of my Monster's Attack is decreased." he drew five Cards. "It allows me to draw from my deck until I have five Cards."

"I sacrifice a 'Scapegoat'." Jonouchi continued. "'Panther Warrior' attacks."

"I activate Permanent Trap: 'Coffin Seller'." Marik played his Card after 'Drillago' was destroyed. "Every time one of your Monster is sent to the graveyard, you will lose 300 of your Life Points. I do believe your Battle Phase is over, Jonouchi, and 'Helpoemer's effect is thus activated. And with your turn ending, 'Plasma Eel; will lower 'Panther Warrior' Attack Power by 500 points. My turn. I set a reverse Card, and I also activate a Magic Card, 'Premature Burial'. 'Premature Burial' allows me to Special Summon one Monster from the graveyard. I play 800 Life Points in order to Special Summon 'Drillago' in Attack Mode. I'll then sacrifice 'Drillago' to Summon 'Legendary Fiend'. 'Legendary Fiend' has a special ability: at the start of every one of my turn's Standby Phase, he gains 700 Attack Points. You'd better defeat him quick before his Attack Points gets out of your reach. Turn end."

"My turn." Jonouchi took his turn. "I Summon 'Little-Winguard'."

"Trap Card activate." Marik countered. "'Nightmare Wheel'. As long as this Card remains face-up on the field, the selected Monster can't attack." he had 'Rocket Warrior' attached to 'Nightmare Wheel'. "They can't change their Battle Position, as well."

"I Summon 'Little-Winguard' in Defense Mode." Jonouchi played his Card. "I'll also switch 'Panther Warrior' to Defense Mode and end my turn."

"And 'Plasma Eel's effect is thus activated." Marik sighed. "'Panther Warrior's Attack Points are reduced as a result. My turn. By the way, on every turn of my Standby Phase, 'Nightmare Wheel' deals my opponent 800 points of damage. Furthermore, 'Legendary Fiend's special ability increases his Attack Power by 700 points. 'Legendary Fiend', attack 'Little-Winguard'. And due to 'Coffin Seller', you lose another 300 points of damage. I set a reverse Card. Turn end."

"My turn." Jonouchi drew a Card. "Hey, Marik, let me show you my trump Card. Magic Card, activate. 'Question'. Now you have to guess the Monster at the bottom of my graveyard. If you guess it right, that Monster is removed from the game. But if you guess it wrong, that Monster is Special Summoned to my side of the field."

"You do know that's impossible, right?" Marik droned. "'Helpoemer's effect is random."

"In that case, I get to Summon my Monster." Jonouchi grinned. "Come forth, 'Jinzo'. Now all your Traps are useless, Marik. Trap Search." he had 'Jinzo' destroy 'Nightmare Wheel', the face-down 'Malevolent Catastrophe' and 'Coffin Seller'. "It's still my Battle Phase, Marik. I switch 'Baby Dragon' and 'Panther Warrior' to Attack Mode. And then, I attack with 'Jinzo'." he took out 'Legendary Fiend'. "All three of my Monsters attack."

"Dark Wall of Wind'." Marik activated the Magic Card, nullifying the combined attack. "Your Battle Phase is now over." he activated 'Plasma Eel's effect, reducing 'Panther Warrior's Attack Points to zero. "My turn. I Summon 'Lava Golem'."

"Don't you need to sacrifice to Summon an Eight-Star Monster?" Jonouchi wondered.

"I never said I'm going to Summon this Monster on my field?" Marik smirked. "I'll sacrifice the two Monsters on your field to Summon 'Lava Golem' on your field. I sacrifice 'Jinzo' and Baby Dragon' to Summon 'Lava Golem'; it's special effects forces the player whose field it is Summoned on to take 700 points of damage every turn. In addition, with 'Jinzo' gone, I'll play a reverse Card on the field."
