It had been a few days since Mildred was able to hang with Moxxie. It wasn't that she wasn't trying but he just seemed to avoid her. He would not answer her calls, walk straight past her in the hall and just not talk to her. It honestly ticked her off and she finally had enough.
At lunch, she went to find Moxxie and found him in the corner of the cafeteria. "Hey, Moxxie!" She called angrily. "What is wrong with you? Ignorin' me? Avoidin' me? What is your deal?" Moxxie didn't answer which tickled her off even more. "MOXXIE!" She finally yelled.
"Just shut up!" Moxxie finally yelled. "Take a hint. I don't want to be with you anymore. It is too stressful for me." He calmed down and whispered, "just stay away from me. It would be better for both of us."
Mildred was shunned silent. She could not believe the calm and quiet Moxxie would yell at her like that. She didn't like it.
"Fine!" She yelled back. She stomped away while yelling, "dumb***. Dip****. Jacka**. Ungrateful b*******." She tried her best to hide her tears but they just began to flow as she left the cafeteria.
Everything in the cafeteria was quiet. You could hear a pin drop. It was so quiet. Moxxie then got up and walked in the opposite direction. He left the room through another door then slid down to the floor. He was shaking hard. He couldn't believe he said that to her and in front of everyone. He then remembered her crying face and instantly felt awful. His chest began to throb from regret.
"I am so sorry...Millie." He said to himself.
After that they two just stayed clear of each other. If Mildred saw Moxxie she would instantly rage and punch whatever or whoever was close. Meanwhile, if Moxxie saw her he would hide in shame. He couldn't face her anymore which was what he wanted but it was just so painful.
Meanwhile, Bruno and his friends were proud of their accomplishment. They couldn't believe that the two of them started hating each other so quickly. Bruno was especially happy because now that Moxxie was out of the way Mildred would come running to him and they would then be the most powerful couple in the school. Maybe in the whole city. Bruno was so sure of this outcome he decided to take action immediately.
After school that day we went up to Mildred and said, "Hey Millie…" the minute he said that name Mildred gave him a very cold, very dark, death glare that sent a chill down his spine. It didn't stop him though, "...with that wimp Moxxie out of the way…" Mildred then punched the locker next to her and it cracked. Bruno forgot she hated his guts right now so saying his name was currently taboo. "...How about you hang with me instead?" He quickly finished.
Mildred continued to give him the cold glare and said nothing. She then walked right past him without even a second of consideration of his offer. He instantly got angry and yelled, "Hey B****! Get back here and answer me!"
Mildred turned her head to face him, gave him the middle finger, and said, "Get lost D***." then continue to walk away.
Once she was out of sight Bruno just lost it. He began destroying everything around him while cursing her out. He was so frustrated she dared to act that way to him. No one had ever acted that way to him and he did not like it.
"That is it B****! You will regret this!" he growled at himself. He then walked away but unbeknownst to him Moxxie was just around the corner and heard everything. He was frightened but he knew he had to do something or else Mildred would be in trouble.
Moxxie instantly ran after Mildred. He had to let her know she was in danger. He couldn't let her get hurt. After running at his top speed he found Mildred.
"Mildred!" He called out. Mildred turned to look at him with a murderous glare that startled him. He knew he deserved it. After how he acted there was no way he didn't deserve it. Now he just hoped she would listen to him. "You're in danger!" he yelled. Mildred just huffed and began to walk away.
Moxxie ran up to her and grabbed her hand, "please listen…" Before he could say anything else Mildred turned around and felt a hard slap across his face. She didn't punch him; it was a very firm palm slap that sent him to the ground with a clear handprint on his face. "Ow." was all he could say as he brought his hand to the wound. He then looked up at her and noticed she was crying again.
"Why are you suddenly talking to me again? Why have you been so cold to me? Did I do something awful to you? I thought…I thought…" She was crying so much she couldn't say anything else. Moxxie was feeling extremely guilty.
"I am sorry. I had to or…" Moxxie said, trying to explain.
"YOU HAD TOO?!" she yelled while punching the building which left a crack and her fist began to bleed.
"You're hurt!" Moxxie tried to run to her again but she dodged him and used her foot to trip him. He fell face first but instantly got up and looked at her.
"You had to avoid me? You had to ignore me? For what possible reason could there be to do that?" Mildred questioned. Her tears continued to fall but she was now able to talk.
"It's because…" Moxxie again began to explain but Mildred interrupted him.
"I don't want to hear it. You want to stay away from me then fine. From now on we will never see each other again. I am quittin' school and will leave." Moxxie's heart broke after hearing this.
"N-no." He said in disbelief.
"Tomorrow is my last day. After that, you will no longer have to hide from me." She turned her head and gave him a small smile with tears still falling from her eyes. "Even if you hate me I still liked you". She then began to walk away again with her final words being, "goodbye."
After she said she was leaving Moxxie stopped focusing on anything else and felt an intense pain in his chest. He couldn't do anything as he watched her leave. If he called out she wouldn't listen. If he asked her to stay she wouldn't listen. No matter what he said at this point nothing would change. He was now hated and there was nothing he could do about it. The pain he felt finally caused him to yell at the top of his lungs "D*** IT!" Tears then instantly began to flow from his eyes as he sobbed in despair. The only upside was that with her leaving Bruno would no longer be able to hurt her but even with that thought in mind Moxxie still felt a depression he never felt before.
After what felt like hours he forced himself up and slowly walked home.
