Chapter 106: Defeat Hatred! Black Paladin

"Yuugi, you have two Monsters on your field." Kaiba stated. "Since my Blue-Eyes has superior Attack Points, you must be planning on outlasting me by playing Defense Mode for the rest of your turns. I set two reverse Cards. Turn end."

"My turn." Yami Yuugi took his turn. "I set a reverse Card. Then, Red-Eyes goes into Defense Mode."

"You can't run." Kaiba countered. "Permanent Trap, activate. 'Final Attack Orders'. As long as this Card remains on the field, all Monsters remain in Attack Mode. Furthermore, both players must choose three Cards from their decks and place the others in the graveyard. Yuugi, I'm going to clear your head of the delusions you have of your so-called past in an instant. "

"Turn end." Yami Yuugi announced, picking his three Cards.

"Finally made a decision, did you?" Kaiba scoffed. "But, regardless of the Cards you choose, they're useless. My victory is inevitable. My turn. This time, you're finished, Yuugi. Magic Card: 'Monster Reborn', activate. And the Monster I bring back is, of course, 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon'. And I'll activate my reverse Magic. 'Polymerization'. Become one being, my three Blue-Eyes. 'Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon'. Paying attention, Yuugi? This is the ultimate Monster that will pave the road of my future. Yuugi, I'm about to defeat you. And when I do, I'll obtain something great. But it's not something as boringly simple as revenge against you. Why have I been fixated on fighting you for so long? Then when we were adopted by Kaiba Gozaburo, that monster of a father forced us to live the worst possible life in the name of 'elite education'. And in order to become the master of a world of treachery and backstabbing, I underwent any and all tests given to me. Kaiba Corporation was destroyed and reborn again. But after I took my revenge, I was filled with a new anger. My past is nothing but hatred and anger. It's not like your stupid fantasy world. I only care about the future. I trample on the past as if it never even existed. Yuugi, you represent the past. Once I destroy you, I will shine down the bright corridors of my future, at the moment I obtain the title of 'Duel King'. I'm surprised even you can laugh in this situation." he noted, seeing Yami Yuugi's smirk.

"Kaiba, you're one of the few people I recognize as a duelist." Yami Yuugi admitted. "But I'm a bit disappointed in you. I'll put it bluntly. Anger, hatred, no matter how much you have, those things aren't enough to beat me."

"I pity you for trying to coerce me with such trash talk." Kaiba snorted.

"Let's see if you still feel that way after seeing this Card." Yami Yuugi fired back. "Reverse Card, open. 'Double Spell', activate. This Card lets me use any of the Magic Cards the opponent used in this turn only. 'Monster Reborn' and 'Polymerization'. I Summon 'Buster Blader' using 'Monster Reborn', then I'll activate 'Polymerization'. I fused 'Dark Magician' together with 'Buster Blader'. The warrior born of this polymerization inherits the Special Ability of 'Buster Blader'. Its Attack Power goes up by 500 points for every Dragon-type Monster on the field. Both the Ultimate Dragon and the Red-Eyes are present on the field. Allow me to show you, the mighty magic swordsman, 'Dark Paladin'."

"You're always the type to entertain until the very end, Yuugi." Kaiba was not impressed. "I presume you know that Fusion Monsters can't attack on the turn they're Summoned. My turn is over."

"It's my turn." Yami Yuugi took his turn. "I set a reverse Card. Turn end."

"My turn." Kaiba drew a Card. "Yuugi, I'm about to bury you along with the past. You'd better prepare yourself."

"Kaiba, a man without a past has no future to grasp." Yami Yuugi started. "The present is an accumulation of one's past and the future is built on top of it. No one's past is meaningless. The past, present, future are what holds you together."

"I already told you." Kaiba scoffed. "That I'm only interested in the future. I will surpass the Battle City and everything that comes with it. I alone will be crowned Duel King and rise to a higher plane of being."

"Kaiba, your mind is like this Duel Tower standing tall in the ruins." Yami Yuugi retorted. "You can pile hate on top of hate to reach the top, but you'll never find true victory. You will only wander forever, seeking the next hate and the one beyond that. Even if you manage to defeat me, you will only find an endless chain of hatred. You will wallow eternity in hatred, never able to escape the darkness."

"Hatred and angers gives me power." Kaiba fired back. "The power to dominate everything."

"Then hit me with all of your hatred." Yami Yuugi challenged. "If you think you can defeat me with that."

"Say what you want." Kaiba snapped. "But victory has already chosen me on this turn. Ultimate Dragon, attack."

"Reverse Card, open." Yami Yuugi countered. "'Magic Formula'."

"Futile." Kaiba mocked. "I activate 'Absorb Spell'. The moment your Monster's Attack Power goes up, those points are absorbed into my Monster's Attack Power, increasing it. Shatter to pieces along with 'Dark Paladin' and 'Red- Eyes', Yuugi."

"Don't be so sure." Yami Yuugi tsked. "Kaiba, you can pile hatred on hatred, but it's weak. Did you really think you can win by bearing a burden of anger and hatred?"

"Shut up." Kaiba snapped. "There's no way your Monster could defeat the Ultimate."

"Then, I'm going to show you." Yami Yuugi played his Card. "The last attack that will grant my victory. Reverse Card, open. 'De-Fusion'. It splits up one Fusion Monster on the field and negates their attack for the turn. There are now two more Dragon-types on the field, increasing 'Dark Paladin's Attack Points. And because the fusion of Ultimate was canceled, your turns comes to an end. My turn. Kaiba, this Card will tear apart the darkness that controls your heart. I activate a Magic Card from my hand, 'Diffusion Wave-Motion'. By paying 1000 of my Life Points, I can direct my Magician's attack order to cover every Monster on your side of the field. That means 'Dark Paladin' can attack all three Blue-Eyes at the same time. Attack, 'Dark Paladin'."

With the final attack wave, Yami Yuugi won the duel.
