Chapter 108: Final Match - Yuugi vs. Marik

On the sidelines...

"Yuugi, I believe you said something along the lines of winning with the power of your friends." Kaiba reminded. "But amidst the heat of battle, you can only rely on no one other than your own power. This Card is meant to show you that. Of course, it's entirely up to you whether or not to place the Card in your deck."

On the Sky Duel Arena...

"Kaiba," Yami Yuugi shuffled the Card in. "I'll believe in you and I'll defeat Marik."

"And now, we shall commence the Battle City Tournament Final Match." Isono declared. "Marik Ishtar versus Muto Yuugi. Duel standby."

"Marik, I will defeat the evil spirit sealed inside of you through this duel." Yami Yuugi promised.

"Begin the duel." Isono signaled.

"I go first." Marik took the first turn. "I Summon 'Vampiric Leech'. Direct attack the player. 'Vampiric Leech' can attack on the turn it's Summoned. My turn's not over yet. 'Vampiric Leech' has another Special Ability. By throwing a Card from my hand, I can switch it to Defense Mode before my turn ends. I place 'Vampiric Leech' in Defense Mode. Then I set one reverse Card. Turn end."

"My turn." Yami Yuugi took his turn. "I'll Summon this Monster. 'Queen's Knight'. Attack 'Vampiric Leech'."

"'Vampiric Leech' was my Defense Monster." Marik conceded. "My Life is unaffected."

"I set two reverse Cards." Yami Yuugi continued. "Turn end."

"My turn." Marik took his turn. "Before I play this Card, I'm going to Summon another Monster. I Summon 'Juragedo'. 'Juragedo', attack 'Queen's Knight'. I set two reverse Cards and end my turn."

"It's my turn." Yami Yuugi drew a Card.

"Trap Card, activate." Marik played his Card. "'Left Arm Offering'. At the cost of discarding my entire hand to the graveyard, this Card allows me to choose one Magic Card from my deck and add it to my hand. And the Card I choose is 'Monster Reborn'."

"Reverse Card, open." Yami Yuugi countered. "'Exchange'. It's the Card that allows the players to exchange one Card with one another. I'm choosing your 'Monster Reborn'. I activate 'Monster Reborn'. I Special Summon 'Queen's Knight'. And then I summon 'King's Knight'. When King and Queen are on the field, I can Special Summon this guy as well. 'Jack's Knight'. King, Queen, Jack, the Three Musketeers of Face Cards have been Summoned. Turn end."

"My turn." Marik took his turn. "I set a reverse Card. I activate a Magic Card from my hand. 'Card of Sanctity'. Both players are to draw from their decks until they hold six Cards. I place 'Juragedo' to Defense Mode and end my turn."

"My turn." Yami Yuugi took his turn. "Three Musketeers of Face Cards, become my sacrifices. I Summon 'Slifer the Sky Dragon'. Attack, Slifer."

"Reverse Magic, activate." Marik countered. "'Dark Spell Regeneration'. Yuugi, I'll be activating 'Monster Reborn' from the graveyard. O, great Ra whom sleeps in the Earth, be reborn in the form of a mighty phoenix. Rise from the Earth and dance over the Heavens. Become one with the flames and bear the name of the phoenix. On the turn God rises, he possesses immortal powers. No attack will work against him."
