Chapter 112: Battle City Ends!

"WHY!?" Yami Marik roared when Marik fought for control over his body. "You shouldn't have this much strength in you."

"Yuugi, attack me!" Marik ordered.

"Silence..." Yami Marik hissed. "Get lost, you leech."

"I'd committed an unforgivable sin." Marik admitted. "A crime so bad, a Tomb Guardian like myself, cannot be forgiven for. It had been my hatred for the Pharaoh that led to the Ishtar tragedy. And out of that, I created my other self."

"Didn't I tell you to be silent?" Yami Marik spat.

"That's why I've decided to use this duel to destroy this evil monster my dark heart has created." Marik declared. "Yuugi, hurry up and attack me."

"I understand." Yami Yuugi nodded. "I'll believe in your strength, your one point of life. I activate my reverse Magic: Ragnarok. 'Ragnarok' is a Magic Card that can only be activated when both 'Dark Magician' and 'Dark Magician Girl' are on the field. Its effect allows me to remove from play every Monster in my deck, my hand and my graveyard. In exchange, it destroys every Monster of the opponent. Even if the target is a God."

"Yuugi, my life still has one point left." Marik regained his body and tossed away his cloak. "This duel is not over yet."

"What the hell?" the disembodied Yami Marik appeared beside his host. "This can't be! There's no way my half-dead dominant half had enough willpower to overtake me and take back his body. Stop joking. I've been kicked out just because of one point? Hey, dominant half. I've always thought of us as friends sharing the same body. There's still a chance we can win this duel, with only one Life Point. Kill Yuugi. It was because of him that you suffered the terrible fate of the Tomb Guardians. Take revenge for you and your ancestors."

"You are the dark side I created, spawned by my suffering as a result of that very same fate." Marik stated. "You can no longer control my subconscious. I will destroy you with my own hands, personally. Soul of the Pharaoh." he greeted Yami Yuugi. "Thank you for rescuing me in this duel. The terrible fate of the Ishtar clan lasting 3000 years, the tragedy caused by me shutting myself in darkness. I must out an end to it myself: all with these hands. That will at least be some atonement for the sin I committed." he placed his free hand over his deck, signaling his surrender.

"He conceded defeat." Yami Yuugi breathed. "His Life Points automatically dropped to zero."

"Be gone." Marik leveled a glare at his dark self. "My dark self."

"Marik, you were victorious in the duel against your heart." Yami Yuugi nodded.

"The Battle City finals are over." Isono declared. "The winner is Muto Yuugi."

"Nee-san, I..." Marik started.

"For thousands of years, our family has suffered a cruel fate as w lived in the darkness." Ishizu told her younger brother. "But as Maat-sama said, it was your destiny to end it. Foolishly pursuing revenge only leads to further tragedy. Perhaps, we Ishtars, were assigned the duty of guarding the Pharaoh's memories, so our Pharaoh could teach us this message."

"Nee-san, do you think our family can escape the chains of darkness and live?" Marik wondered.

"Yes." Ishizu nodded. "You've already taken the first step, Marik." she glanced over her younger brother shoulder to look at the girl whom Marik was attached to. "The three of us, after all, are not just of the same tribe, but family. As long as we hold this bond, we can endure any obstacle we may face."

"Yuugi." Kaiba stepped forward. "From this moment on, you have earned the title of the victorious 'Duel King of Battle City'. As the host of this tournament, I applaud your achievement."

"It's the rules." Mokuba spoke. "As the winner, Yuugi, you get to take Marik's Ante Card."

"Marik, it's time to fulfill the final duty of the Ishtars." Ishizu reminded.

"Yuugi, here's the God Card." Marik handed the 'Winged Dragon of Ra' over. "And the key to the Pharaoh's memories, which the Tomb Guardian clan has protected for centuries. It lies right here." he pulled off his shirt and turned his back, allowing the group to see the cravings engraved on his back.

"How awful that must have been..." Anzu gaped.

This horrible scar... Yami Yuugi realized. Is this how the Tomb Guardians guarded my memory for so many generations?

"These hieroglyphs contain a prophecised message passed down from the first Tomb Guardian who served under the Royal Family." Ishizu explained. "'In the future, one will come who will wield the power of the three Gods depicted on the stone slab. This will be the proof that the Pharaoh's soul has been reincarnated.' Yuugi, you now hold the three God Cards, it is proof that you are the Pharaoh. And thus, you deserve to know the truth of your long-lost memories."

"Yuugi, can you read this stuff?" Jonouchi asked.

"Yeah." Yami Yuugi nodded. The words of this ancient language hold no meaning to me. But it's like the three God Cards are sending a vision through me. This is... he recalled where he had seen the carving. That slate. Is my memory truly sealed within that slate?

"Now my mission has been fulfilled." Marik added. "And finally," he handed Yami Yuugi the Millennium Rod. "Please take the Millennium Rod, one of the Millennium Items my tribe risked their lives to protect."

"Have you finished soaking in all the glory?" Kaiba cut in. "The Battle City tournament has now officially ended. Yuugi, I will lend you my pride and the title of Duel King for the time being. The final location of the Battle City finals, the Duel Tower, has now outlived its usefulness. Therefore, in exactly one hour from now, this structure will explode."

"Call it." Ami sang.

"Everyone of you will be evacuated aboard the Battle Ship and escorted off Alcatraz Island." Kaiba continued.

"But isn't the engine of the Battle Ship damaged?" Anzu pointed out.

"Don't worry about it." Mokuba assured. "Repairs finished a while ago."

"That's all." Kaiba ended his announcement and walked off.

"We can't just stand here!" Honda shouted.

"Kaiba, you bastard." Jonouchi rebuked.

"Jonouchi, you guys have seen me play chess with Kaiba numerous times before and know very well how much a sore loser he is." Ami deathpanned. "Is it any surprise he'd do this?"

"There's a limit to being a sore loser." Jonouchi snarled.

"Nee-san, Rishid..." Marik started.

"Right." Ishizu nodded and the two Ishtar siblings hurried off.

On the Battle Ship...

Both Ishizu and Marik breathed in relief when Rishid stirred.

Marik then espied the flustered Ami at the corner of his eye. "Nee-san, excuse me. Ami," he poke his head out of Rishid's room. "What's wrong?"

'Ryou's not in his room." Ami replied.

"I'll help." Marik offered. "Is that.." his ears then picked up a light knock in a room. "There."

"Ryou?" Ami blinked, the kitchen room's door sliding open and the pair saw Bakura seated on the floor, eating a banana.

"Thank goodness I found you, Ami." Bakura beamed.

"That's our line." Marik chided. "Where were you up to till now?"

"I don't really know." Bakura finished up his banana. "When I woke up, I was lying in bed. And what did you know, I was starving."
