Sam he made it. Rowena, her calls were more frantic. She told Sam she only had a short amount of time. Sam was determined to find her, but without his active powers or his brother he didn't know where to start. Luckily he still had his motel room, he paid for a few days.
After Sam finished brushing his teeth, he took out his tablet to see if he can figure out how to remember things. He was just settling down to read when he heard scratching. Taking out his gun, he carefully walked slowly towards the door. When he opened it, he couldn't believe his eyes.
"Riot?'' No way. He left him with Amelia. Before he could do anything, he jumps on the bed and barks. Sam couldn't help but smile. "Hey boy. No way you are him, a dog cannot travel that far." When Sam checked his ear, he was really surprised. "Did Amelia bring you here? Or were you adopted." Sam always thought he left that part of his life behind. "I have a job at the moment, but in the morning, I'll find your true owners." He had a ice bucket, Riot was most likely thirsty. He went to fill up his water. When he heard a voice, Sam jumped.
"I rather have a beer."
A young man was smiling at Sam.
"It's good to see you again."
A woman was meditating, she found it calming.
"Hummmm." She could feel the stresses melting away. She allowed her mind to relax, she had no control over anything. Once she went into that deep state, her candles floated in the air above her, she was planning on true nirvana.
"Agh! Shadow!" Her cat jumps on her. "Really? I just fed you." Her cat kept bothering her all day. When he wouldn't stop bothering her, she sighed in defeat. "Fine." She got up to feed her cat.
What she didn't see is the cat transforming to a man. When she turned around to feed her cat, the last thing she saw was hands around her throat.
"Who are you?!" Sam had a gun, it wouldn't stop a skinwalker, but it would slow it down.
The man just looks at him.
"So the rumors were true. Your reputation precedes you."
"Enough. What do you want?"
The man sighs.
"Kit told me you were the most opened minded of the brothers." He looked directly at Sam. "It's me, Riot."
"Bull." Sam was still holding his gun.
"Dogs don't lie remember? I'm your familiar." He smiles seeing Sam's shocked face.
"That's impossible. Familiars are only for witches."
"Yeah, and that's why I'm here. You're a witch, and I'm your partner."
When Sam looked closer he blinked.
"Riot?"
"Or Dog. But when in human form, call me Ryan." He smiled at Sam's expression. "Sit down, and I'll explain everything."
The warlock formally known as Shadow had a task. He already killed one witch, but killing is not why he was once again human. It was shedding his former cat life, and getting revenge on the witch that transformed him in the first place. He didn't know where to find Melinda Warren, but he knew it had to be soon, the new moon is in forty eight hours. Otherwise he'll stay as a cat forever.
"So when I woke up, you were sent to get me?" Sam had weird runs in before, but this was the weirdest.
"Yeah. When you became a full fledged witch, a familiar was supposed to come to you, but things kept happening. You and your brother kept hunting, and we decided to stay away for the moment. Then when you disappeared, we backed off. Then you reappeared. That's when I was assigned to go to you. I didn't expect to get ran over." Riot/Ryan grimaced at the memory.
"Sorry about that."
"No worries. Thanks for taking me to that doctor. She saved my life." Ryan smiled.
Sam felt weird.
"Amelia."
"What about Amelia." Ryan asked.
"Why didn't you tell me." Sam liked her, but if Riot was more upfront he would have been home quicker.
"Okay, this is going to be tricky. Sam."
"Just spit it out." Sam was running out of patience.
"When a familiar's witch disappears, we are usually assigned to another witch, but our masters, my master, he was adamant that I wait for you. So I did. Then when I found out you were back on Earth, or wherever you were, that's when I came. Like I idiot I ran to see you, I forgot you drove a car."
"I was trapped in another time." Sam still didn't understand.
"Okay. Are you ready to hear this?"
"Try me."
"There was two of you on Earth."
Shadow didn't say a word when he killed a witch. Her familiar, a bird named Bonnie was whimpering in her cage.
Burp. Yum. Even with feathers, he never minded the taste of fresh food.
"Well that didn't work." Getting killed by a ordinary witch didn't do squat. He was planning on walking away till that damn bird started squawking. To prevent that witch and that bird for warning others, he stabbed the witch and ate the bird. Of course she begged for her life, she could communicate with other familiars, even former ones, but Shadow was hungry.
As he was washing his knife of blood, he looked at the calendar. "Huh." That explained everything. Great. Then that means Melinda Warren was long dead. He needed a Plan B. Hopefully her descendants existed in this time. He needed to shed his nine lives, otherwise he'll be a cat forever.
"What do you mean, two of me." How? Other dimensions existed. Maybe his twin crossed over. When he told Ryan, Ryan shook his head.
"You said you were stuck in the past. Well, guess what. You were still here. Kinda."
Sam was confused.
''What?"
"What do you remember. When you came back."
Sam had to think.
"I was in 1930 I believe. I couldn't get sent back to my own time, I was stuck. Eliot was afraid that I would change events and disrupt the flow of time, that he needed me away. His friend, my great-grandfather, he suggested that I get put away in a frozen stasis. That I won't get hurt, grow old, or cause a time paradox. Then after I stood on that platform, I woke up shivering and alone. Then a angel said my name."
Its been over a year, but Sam remembered it well.
Cold, so cold. Sam was freezing. His vision was blurry, and he was seeing black spots. He felt like a newborn baby. He couldn't move or stand up. Sam was tempted to sleep, but he knew he'll never get up. He did kneel on the ground, trying to get his bearings together. When he heard someone calling his name, he looked up.
"Sam...Winchester?" The angel was assigned to watch over Sam. She was getting bored in the Underworld and agreed to watch over the human if Castiel wasn't available. She breathed a sigh of relief when Sam looked up. "Oh good you're awake."
"Where...where am I?" He chattered. When his eyesight cleared, he noticed his clothes were damp, and remnants of ice on him. "Achoo!"
The angel stared at him with sympathy. She's been down here for eons, she knew how fragile humans were. She didn't answer Sam when he asked how long he down here frozen in a box.
"The Underworld. You been down here a very long time."
"How long?" Sam asked. He couldn't remember anything other than random memories.
She looked up, she sensed something dark coming, and it wasn't the demons that thrived down here.
"She said it's time to return to the surface world. Next thing I knew, I woke up on a park bench."
Sam was so disoriented. Was this Chicago? He blinked. Where was he?
"How did you get to the surface world? Even demons have a hard time escaping." Ryan worked with a few witches, all said it was a dangerous maze. Only experienced witches and hunters were allowed down there.
"I always assumed the angel did it. Like I was saying, I woke up."
Sam was wearing some clothes he stole from a local laundromat. He stood out anyways, people were giving him weird looks, not just the wet clothes, but the old fashioned outfit from 1930. Once he showered and changed from the local motel, after agreeing to work as exchange for room and board, he had to figure out who he was. He didn't remember anything.
Sam knew his name at least. Sam Halliwell. He stayed at River Bluff for a few months, he figured it was home. He made some new IDs, and even got a regular job working as a maintenance man at the local school.
"Sam!" Mr Darl was frantic. "Burst pipe in the school gymnasium."
"Sure thing Tom." Sam grabbed his toolbox and rushed to the gym.
Once the crisis was adverted, he went to join the other staff for lunch. Once he got there, he noticed everyone talking in excitement, and when Sam walked in, everybody went silent.
"The pipe's fixed. Don't worry, the floor isn't warped." Sam joked. He usually got along with everyone, but today no one will meet his eyes. "Did something happen?" He felt weird, like he walked in on a huge secret.
"Yeah. That's when I found out I wasn't who I thought that was." He told Ryan.
Sam ate his lunch, but he wondered why everyone was so quiet. He wanted to ask, but he didn't want to intrude. He figured he'll ask Tom.
"Tom? Did someone pass away?" He noticed how everyone rushed away as soon as lunch ended. Usually the teachers stick around and drank coffee before they headed outside for a smoke.
Tom couldn't meet his eyes. When Sam demanded answers, Tom sighed.
"Okay. Might as well show you."
Sam saw himself in a video with a guy. They both were robbing a bank. Sam was in disbelief.
"Tom, you know that's not me." It was dated a while back ago. According to the article, they were shot dead by police.
"I know. But this showed up." Sam saw that bank vault video, but this video. He couldn't take his eyes off the screen, and it wasn't about his twin. It was the woman.
Immediately Sam's memories were about her face. He saw flashes. Him holding up a badge to ask questions, then seeing the most beautiful woman he ever lay eyes on. Him holding hands with her after they seen a movie, then her and his brother on a hunt. A brother? The woman he was intrigued by, but that guy. He reminded him of someone. Dean. That guy's name was Dean.
"When was this taken?" He demanded.
Tom sighed.
"Last week."
"Is that why everyone's avoiding me? I don't even know that woman." That blonde, Sam had no idea who she was.
"I know. This was taken in Hollywood. Jenna Winchester, she uploaded this herself. Everyone's just thinks you are holding out."
"Well, good luck to her and my twin."
"That's when I started my investigation." Ryan insisted Sam finish his side before Ryan explained why there was two Sams.
Sam stayed a few more months. Sam Winchester. That guy's name was Sam Winchester.
Sam laid in bed for a long time. He just woke up from a hunt. Him and his brother was hunting werewolves. He saw that Woman in Black, she was watching him.
"It took me a while longer to remember. Then my memories of my family, my friends. My name. They all came back. Somewhat."
Sam sat up in bed. He remembered. Dean was his brother. He needed to head out. Maybe for a day.
That day turned into a week. Sam gave his notice to his work and sold everything to one of his coworkers, including his lease. He decided to head down south, he needed to discover himself.
"Then it slowly started coming back to me." It took Sam two years to get his memories back. He still had a way to go, but it was way better than it was before.
Riot nodded.
"Then you left town. Amelia, she cried for a week."
Sam didn't say anything, he couldn't give her what she wanted.
"Then I went North. I wasn't done hunting yet."
"I stayed in Kermit. Then when Amelia and her husband reconciled I hit the road. I needed to see you. Luckily looking cute gave me free rides."
"You said you'll explain why there was two Me's. Explain."
"I was just getting to that. I been a familiar for years. You may have gone back in time, but time went on. You're present self was still here. Before you got back, Present/Past Sam was still here, him doing his thing. You, on the other hand were frozen solid. We had to wait till time caught up. When you arrived in California, time caught up. Your past self and you became one."
It sounded so confusing, but Sam understood.
"Then why don't I remember anything?"
"You will. Until then, I need your help."
"Why?" Sam just wanted to go to bed. He had a massive headache.
"There is a warlock on the loose. He's trying to break his curse."
"What curse?"
"I'm a familiar. Us, we guide good witches when they get into their powers. Either a natural or a practitioner, it doesn't matter. We guide witches until they reach their full potential. Then we go on to the next newborn witch. When we reach our quota, we become fully human and train other familiars. But some of us, we prefer to stay with our preferred witch, like my friend Portia."
Sam remembered that case, it had to be one of the most strangest cases he had, that was a few months after leaving Stanford. Portia was a witch familiar who was a dog for her new master in public, but at home was human. When she admitted she and James, were, ahem intimate, James friend, and coworker became enraged. He saw their relationship as a insult. Spencer Wallis, a long time member of the Coven, "The Collective," was extremely jealous, he was always obsessed with Portia and wanted her as it own. He committed a series of crimes, especially murder, he wanted to frame James for murders he didn't commit. But that didn't stop there. Using his powers, he planted false visions in James head, making him believe, he did the murders. James was a witch, but was still a newborn. If he went to prison, he wouldn't be allowed to practice his witchcraft and in time become mortal again, forcing Portia to leave.
Long story short, James and Spencer got into a fight. Portia trying to help, transformed into her familiar dog form, and tried to help, but was thrown across the room. Sam and Dean were forced to use a witch killing bomb at Spencer, since witch killing bullets didn't exist yet. Even with Spencer's death, the evidence against James was overwhelming. His coven refused to help him, and James and Portia were forced to leave town. Sam and Dean heard nothing from them since, not even after Sam became a witch. He looked at Ryan.
"Where you part of the Collective?"
Ryan snorted.
"You kidding? Those entitled snobs? Hell no. They are so exclusive." He bent his two fingers. "Stupid cowards. I can't count how many witches they turned away, they only wanted 'pure' witches. Luckily us familiars managed to track down those witches, wiccan or natural, they all need guidance. After what happened to Tuatha, we are not taking any chances on any witches going bad."
"Hm. Then why come? You're human now."
"For now. It's a choice. I can walk away, no one will question it. I can have a ordinary life, no one will ever bother me. But I won't. Most of us were created as helpers, other familiars and witches will need us."
"Okay. Just one question."
"What."
"You mentioned a witch going bad."
"Tuatha? Yeah, she was a good witch, but she went dark side. Guess what, so did her familiar. Ever since then we try to track down new witches, to guide them for the side of good. But if there is no familiar, young witches need mentors. Magic School, Knox are two examples."
"What about borrower witches."
Ryan shuddered.
"We don't associate with Hell." He yawned. "Is it alright if I take a nap? I promise I don't snore." Before Sam could protest, he transformed back into a dog and fell asleep curled up into a ball.
Sam just stared at Riot. He remembered how he always kept following Amelia around. Sam was very glad he was never with her in that way. Thinking about his old dog, Bones, he wondered if he was sent to protect Sam when he ran away from home when he was a teen. When Dean and John found Sam in Flagstaff a few weeks later, Bones ran away that night. Poor Sam was heartbroken when he couldn't track him down. He wanted to ask Riot but he didn't want to wake up the sleeping dog. Instead, he went to bed. Whatever Riot wanted with Sam, tomorrow was another day.
'Sam. Go to my condo. I have something for you. Hurry. Before the unworthy can steal it.'
Sam told Riot he needed to do this alone, he had this feeling. Riot wasn't happy about it, but when their masters gave orders, the familiar obeys, no questions asked. He simply told Sam that he'll be back, he was visiting an old friend that lived in town.
The two witches were humming outside, they had Rowena tied up, she was brought along to find Kierkan.
"If you just let me go..."
The head witch laughed.
"Mmm. No. You are too precious to let go. Besides that necklace is lovely on you. Don't you agree Emily?"
Emily looked down at the floor.
"Just sit tight, and all will be over soon." As she mixes her ingredients for her spell. Summoning a Avatar is easy, it's getting the right one that's difficult. She'll get her daughter back, but not before getting what she came for.
Rowena prayed hard Sam came soon. Her time was running short.
Sam pulled up to that same apartment he drove by a few days ago. Rowena, her calls sent him here. He never knew where Rowena lived, but he figured he'll sense her. Getting out of the car, he goes in the apartment building.
Those doors. Sam knew Rowena was in there. But before he could go in, he felt his vision getting dark. The last thing he saw was two women coming towards him.
Sam woke up with a huge migraine, he was very disoriented on where he was. As his eyesight cleared, he saw Rowena. She was staring at Sam with a unreadable expression. Before Sam could ask her anything, he was interrupted by a woman's voice.
"Ah. You're awake. You been asleep for an hour. Silly man. For a witch, I expected better. Oh well."
"What did you do to Rowena?" Sam demanded. She had this large spiky collar around her neck.
"It was necessary. She needed to be contained. Plus the price I paid for her, she needed to work off her debt." The witch smiles. "Anyways, I need you to track down someone. I'm sure you heard of the war coming. Well, I need ingredients to track him down." She looked up when Rowena laughed. "What's so funny?"
"Tracking down an Avatar? Good luck. They are harder to track down then a whitelighter, plus you cannot kill one. Especially a fallen one." Rowena was no fool, she may not have lived as long as Kierkan, but knew how hard he was to find. Her mentor, the wizard Merlin couldn't find him.
"Tsh. Too bad my dolls won't work on you, how you won't die mystifies me. Anyways, I need your spells, especially that spell. I'll need it as insurance, plus to get my daughter out of Hell."
"You are a fool. There is no such spell. I can only create a spell to prolong life, I cannot raise the dead, Death. She won't allow it."
Sam was mystified about his own deaths. He saw himself coming back several times. He heard of people dying and returning from the dead. He had several questions, but was wise enough not to ask. Instead he thinks of a plan to escape.
"Besides. The War is the last of your worries. I doubt you'll be alive to witness it. The First. She is on her way here." Rowena saw her captor's eyes go wide.
"That is impossible. She was sealed away."
"When the whitelighters fell, she was released from her prison, as well as her mate. She is here to collect her children. The witches, as well any human with magic. You, myself, Sam. Even your girl. We are sitting ducks." She was slapped when the dark haired girl stood up and hit her.
"Now. Now. Emily. What did I tell you about hitting people." The Witch Mother scolded. "Then we'll fight. One against three. Once she's dead, we'll start our own coven. One that I'll run. You, your young man there, you two can bring over the Charmed Ones. With all three on our side we'll be invisible. Not even Hell or even Heaven could stop us." Once she finished her potion, she handed it over to Emily. "Here. This potion contains Sam's essence. If he acts up, break the bottle." She looks over at Sam. "Don't try to be the hero, if anything happens to my daughter, Rowena dies." Emily smiles as her mom hands her the bottle. "Now. Fetch me what I want."
Sam knew he could take Emily out no problem, but no way was he hurting his friend. His memories were coming back faster now, he knew what he needed to do. But not until he finishes what he started.
After unsuccessfully trying to convince Emily to betray her mother and start somewhere else to live her own life, Sam sneakily creates two hex bags, just in case. But before he can walk out he passes out in the room.
Riot snarls as he barked at Emily who looked terrified. Poor girl, she stood no chance. All she wanted was her mother's love. Her pet bunny, her familiar was murdered by her older sister. Poor Steve. He was sacrificed for a spell.
Emily was holding on to Sam's bottle. But before she could do anything, she passed out on the ground, unconscious. Riot sensing something familiar whimpers and kneels on the ground. No way was he standing up to his Master.
Rowena was staring up in fear.
"Why spare me?" Her captor, she was laying dead on the floor. Her necklace that was holding her prisoner was taken off, but even with all of her powers, she was powerless against the Hunter. He never said a word, just handed her a jewel. "This. How..." Her words was cut off when he placed a finger over her mouth.
Rowena was freed, but she knew she had to run. He saved her from the First, but she had to get out of town. But not before retrieving what she asked Sam to get for her.
Sam woke up dizzy. Not again. But when he saw who was looking at him, more memories returned.
"Rowena?"
"We have to go Sam. Just grab the essentials."
Isabel was staring at the young witch.
"You'll do. Unlike your sister and mother, you are strong. Your powers. They will prove useful. Come."
Emily never wept before, not even seeing her mother's dead body. This woman. She was her true mother. She gave birth to all witches. She leapt in her arms.
"Mother."
Ryan was bowing down to the Hunter.
"Master." The First Hunter. The one to train the first familiar, the Alpha Familiar. Riot's father. "I understand." He had new orders.
Sam had a lot of questions, like how is he alive? Meg told him he was fed on demon blood to keep him alive. The demon Gasion said the same thing. Rowena asked Sam to elaborate.
"I don't know. I remember being thirsty. That was after I did something." Sam wished he could remember what. "I remember being stuck in the past. Then I woke up alone." That was two years ago.
"Mind if I do a inspection? I promise it won't hurt." Rowena uses her powers to inspect Sam's body. "Hmm. You are perfectly healthy. No organ damage, no damaged tissue, no demon blood." Rowena heard rumors, that a Winchester was living off demon blood. "All that time you were frozen. Your body healed itself."
"How? Even coma patients need therapy and rehab."
"Ordinary humans. You are different. Remember time moves differently down there. Who knows." She shrugged. "All I know is, you are perfectly healthy. You can go home." Rowena and Sam were far out of town. Luckily Sam managed to grab her journals. Rowena had no clue how to hide from the First Witch or even The First Hunter, they were responsible for magic existing. "I have to go into hiding. I suggest you go home to your wife, take a break like your brother." Rowena knew Sam needed it. She could tell he missed her. He was gone nearly a century.
Phoebe was at the Manor, she was visiting her sister who was staring aimlessly at her now mushed up cereal. She tried unsuccessfully to get her attention, she was telling a story about her psych class.
"Hello? Piper! Piper!"
"Huh?" Piper looked up. "What did you say?" Ever since she got that box, she was wondering what it meant. Sam, he gave her some chocolates, but also a envelope with a spell inside. She had no idea what it meant. She and her sisters had no clue. That spell was nothing they ever seen. The Book of Shadows had no index about it.
"Sheesh. Ever since you got that box, you been so out of it. You didn't even say goodbye to Jo and Dex." They left last week, Phoebe was forced to postpone the party again. Good thing the DJ was understanding, however his next booking was not for another couple of weeks. As for the food, the caterers ended up canceling on them, the bar where Piper's high school reunion was at, their catering van was sabotaged by those bikers. Good thing they refunded their deposit.
"Sorry." She dropped her spoon. "He was here. And not once he came to ring the bell." Piper when she saw that box was mystified. Thinking it was a prank, was prepared to blow it up. But when she saw Sam's handwriting, she debated on opening it. After a few minutes, her curiosity got the better of her. What saw inside, she couldn't believe it.
The day after Sam left the box, she was heading out so Phoebe and Paige could schedule their next tenant interview. The box almost tripped her.
Piper couldn't believe it. Taking the contents to Sacred Meadows, she texted all three of her sisters. Prue never texted back, but Paige was there, she was waiting for Piper.
"This is Sam's cell." It was rusting and covered in dust, but miraculously, it still turned on. There was a note, all it said that Sam promised to come back. But when Piper opened the phone, Sam sent her a message.
He was dressed up in pajamas, he was sitting down in some office with nothing but a oil lamp. He was recording a message for Piper.
"Hey." Sam waved at the camera. "I can't talk long, it's curfew. Ahem. As you can see, I'm stuck in 1930. I didn't come alone, Meg brought me. Yes. That Meg. Anyways, she or he, she is using a man for her vessel, she freed me from Gasion. Long story. Anyways, I just want to let you know I'm safe. Piper, I'll be home as quick as I can. Oh! FYI, I'm leaving you a gift. It's from your aunt Pearl. Love you." He kisses the camera with his hand. "Please for the love of God, don't show Dean this video. I'm sure I'll see him soon enough." The video ended right there.
"This is Pearl's spell." Piper recognized Pearl's handwriting. It was written in an ancient language Piper didn't understand. "Paige, is Castiel or Hannah still here?"
Hannah was reading the spell a few minutes later. Castiel was already gone, he left when he got Jack's phone call. Hannah didn't want to quit, she didn't want to abandon Claire. She did make Cas promise to bring Jack home so he could spend time with his family.
"This spell, it is written in a language that no longer exists. It's a summoning spell for Kierkan."
"Who?" Phoebe wrote back, she said she'll be there as soon as she can. Her professor was very anal about attendance, so much so, he threatened to fail any students who skipped any classes. Phoebe was not taking any chances. She promised Piper she'll be there as soon her class ended.
"The Fallen Avatar. I hadn't seen him for centuries. Not since Odysseus' re-rising." Angels had the power to raise the dead, so did many necromancers, as well as alchemists. But only Kierkan had a rare power. "He is the only one alive that knows how to create souls."
"WHAT! How?" Piper and Paige couldn't believe it.
"We always thought only our Father had that power. But when I saw Kierkan raising the dead, that's when I saw what he is capable of." Hannah remembered that day. Whitelighters and Avatars were always arch enemies. Not always, they were once one team. But when Good and Evil started fighting, both sides were split on what to do. The earliest Whitelighters wanted to train future generations to fight, while the ancient Avatars wanted Utopia. With both sides disagreeing, they both agreed to split up. Both were created by Heaven, it was insurance. If the angels lost, the whitelighters would take over, but if Heaven fell, the Avatars would neutralize all evil. But the earliest humans didn't know what to do. None ever experienced death. When the War started, all eight were hidden away. None had names, no humans needed any. Even the first two humans weren't named yet.
Once the War ended, the chosen Eight chose to go their own way. None had names, so the angels named them. The two leaders of both teams, Ramus, and Alpha couldn't agree what to do about the War aftermath. The remaining humans were lost and confused. They all knew God, and were saddened when He left. Ramus wanted the humans to go on, living their own lives, while Alpha wanted them to live together in perfect harmony. Both sides argued, Ramus was afraid the humans will never grow and evolve, while Alpha was scared that future generations will turn evil. In the end, both agreed to disagree. They split up, with the Council calling themselves whitelighters, and the other four calling themselves Avatars. Over time both forgot who they were, and where they came from. They ended up becoming enemies, especially during Egyptian Dynasty when the Avatars took over.
Anubis, the Egyptian Deity, he saw how flawed the Avatars plan was. Their so called "Utopia" seemed perfect, however, Free Will didn't exist. No one was allowed to think for themselves. The Avatars, who locked the whitelighters away, killed humans that broke their perfect mold. Anubis disagreed what they were doing and disobeying Osiris, who was the former judges of human souls, argued that future whitelighters were sent to Hell, their crime, thinking for themselves. Even as a god, his power was limited. He prayed hard for help, and when Kierkan answered, he told a surprised Anubis their weakness.
"Why betray your kin?"
"Because I'm tired. I want Free Will. My breathen, they won't allow me to leave. Here." He hands him a tiny bottle. "This contains my essence. As a former Avatar, this has what helped create me. The Avatars are strong, but are not invisible." He then told them their weakness. Take away their members, and their power weakens. But, don't waste it, only so many vials can be made."
Once he left, Anubis went to work. He killed three Avatars, but that was enough for them to run. Their power came from one another, and if one dies, they weaken. The world returned to normal, and when Heaven found out what Anubis did, they rewarded him with judging souls. Not his favorite job, but he agreed to do it, since his father was way too judgemental.
As for Kierkan, no one knew where he went. Not until the Bronze age. He lived a quiet life, however made his living as a healer. Soon his work reached the far reaches of the continent, with many coming far and wide for healing. Especially those that wanted to bring back their dead loved ones.
Odysseus, legends tell stories about him. Many portraying him a Greek hero, others calling him a god. All Hannah knew he was a human man. His most famous battle, the Trojan Battle is where he died.
Not many angels came to Earth, but Hannah was bored and came down to Earth from time to time. She was watching the humans fighting when she saw Kierkan raising the dead. Hannah knew about necromancers, they loved to experiment with blood magic. Not many knew how to perfect it, most of their risen dead were empty husks. Only certain beings could raise the dead with success, with the souls inside their bodies, or even those that have new bodies. Angels, genies, warlocks, witches, demons. But as talented as they were, no one could create a new soul. Except one.
Hannah had no opinion of Kierkan, she knew what he once was, and why he fell. To her he was just some human. But when she saw him putting a bottle to the Odysseus dead lips, she was in disbelief on what went inside. That was a soul. But not a traditional soul, but a lab grown one. "Odysseus" got up and started fighting again. Frightened, Hannah returned to Heaven.
She never told a soul. It was too scary to think that someone had that power. But to her relief, his "souls" died after a few years. Souls were usually indestructible, Kierkan's creations were flawed and withered and died after awhile, usually after their host body's passes away. But lately, Hannah was wondering. Did Kierkan perfect his experiment? Was there this one perfect being of his creation? Then if Kierkan managed to achieve it? Where was it? She wondered. But being with the Charmed Ones, destiny's fate, she had to say something. They may have some answers.
"Why would anyone call him? Isn't he just a glorified alchemist?" Piper didn't care, all she wanted was her husband. And ask him, why did he leave her this spell? Plus Pearl. How did she get this?
"Bigger question is why do we care? You know Sam's coming home." Paige was getting sick of Piper's moping. Her cell rang. "Excuse me. Sacred Meadows, Paige Matthews speaking. Excuse me what?" She was gesturing to Piper.
"What is it?" Piper said walking over.
"Who are you?"
"Just come home. Hurry." Kit hangs up the phone. She only had a matter of time before the warlock catches up to her. She wished Melinda vanquished him all those years ago instead of cursing him to be a cat. Dammit!
Paige and Piper hurry home. But not before ordering Hannah to fill Phoebe in.
Hannah sighs as she looked in one of the mirrors.
"Is this really necessary?"
"It's the only way. Just keep doing your job."
"Yes ma'am." Hannah bows to the Goddess. She just wondered what God was doing. And why was His Sister so interested in the Winchesters. Hannah had so many questions.
