Take a guess as to Aisling's costume. Bet you'll be able to guess what it was.

Summary: It's Halloween and Spike and Aisling prepare to celebrate the night.

Spike smiled at his little girl, as he brushed through the long black curls, carefully and gently getting rid of all the tangles in young Aisling's hair. Aisling was mesmerized by what she saw in the mirror, being a vampire, he didn't have a reflection (Cameras were different stories), so through the mirror, it looked as though the brush was enchanted to brush her hair by itself. She clutched her white and gray stuffed dog tightly in her hands as she stared wide-eyed at the mirror.

He'd done this several times before yet every time she found it amazing to watch in the mirror.

When he finished detangling her hair, he parted her hair into two sections, then tied her hair into two pigtails that were each tied at her neck and went down her shoulders.

"There you go," Spike said. He clasped her shoulders and kissed her on the crown of her head.

Aisling stood up and looked down at her costume. A blue pinafore dress was worn over a short-sleeved blouse. Plastic red heeled shoes with white socks covered her feet.

"How do I look, Da'?" She asked suddenly looking very shy.

Calling him 'Da'' was a very recent thing. It still gave him a jolt of pure joy every time she said (even as the guilt set it over the circumstances regarding his adoption.

"Beautiful, Princess," Spike said.

Aisling smiled and hugged Spike tightly.

Spike checked the time on his watch, "It's after sunset, ready to go?"

Aisling smiled and nodded. "Are we goin' to pass by Nanny Kat's?"

"Of course," Spike said. "She said she had a very special treat for you, didn't she?"

Aisling nodded vigorously. "Aye!"

"Then we have to go over. Can't miss the very special treat, right?"

Aisling shook her head.

Spike stood and held out his hand for her, Aisling clasped his hand tightly and they left the room.

When they were about to leave the apartment Aisling let go of his hand and ran toward the living room.

Spike paused and stared after her, Aisling grabbed the basket that was lying on the table, and gently placed the stuffed dog inside it.

"Ok! She said with a smile. "I'm ready!"

Spike chuckled. "Ok"

"Trick or Treat!" Aisling shouted as the door opened to a young woman with long brown hair, wearing a long green medieval gown. In her hands was a plastic bowl filled to the brim with Candy.

"Ash!" The woman exclaimed placing the candy down and hugging her tightly.

"Nanny Kat!" Aisling laughed.

"You are a vision," Kat said kissing her on the cheek. "Come in! I want to give you your extra special treat, wouldn't do to have all the other kids see it, and get jealous, would we?"

Aisling stared at Spike, and at his nod, she ran into the house.

Aisling disappeared into the house and the minute Aisling disappeared, Kat turned to Spike. "How is everything."

Spike's smile immediately dropped from his face. "She screamed last night. Took her a couple of hours to calm her down long enough to fall back asleep."

"Want me to give her something?" Kat asked. "A few tonics should at least allow her to sleep without dreams."

Spike shook her head. "Psychiatrist gave her some pills to help with nightmares. I do not want to mix meds and magic. Besides, you know how she feels about people 'messing with' her mind. It was a fight to get her to take the meds. I'll talk to the Psychiatrist when she goes to see her on Tuesday. She's good, listens to Aisling and under her care, has been able to get Aisling to smile more."

"I understand," Kat said though she doubted it was just the psychiatrist that had helped Aisling smile. "How are you?"

Spike looked up and sighed. "I'm better."

"William," Kat said.

Spike's shoulders dropped. "It's hard, suddenly baring the weight of a million sins is not easy, but it's no less than I deserve."

Kat couldn't argue with that, but she never knew the monster who had two slayer kills and hundreds of thousands of nameless horrors to his name. The only thing that came to mind when she looked at him was a man curled up in front of the fridge, driven to near insanity under the weight of his guilt.

"Maybe…" Kat said. "Maybe you should try therapy too. She might be able to help you too."

Spike didn't answer for a long while and thankfully was saved from answering when Aisling appeared. "Da', Nanny Kat, where's the treat?"

Kat and Spike turned, and Kat stepped inside the house, Spike followed in after her. "No silly, it's not a thing. I thought you might like it if I put a small spell on your basket so it can carry a lot more candy. Without changing size."

Aisling looked at Spike, and Spike smiled and nodded.

Aisling smiled and nodded excitedly. "All right, I'd love to have a lot of candy."

Kat smiled and held out her hand for the basket and Aisling put the basket into Kat's hand.

Kat walked into a different room leaving Spike and Aisling alone.

"Thank you," Aisling said. "I know you don't like Halloween very much, so thanks for taking me out anyway."

It was true that he used to dislike Halloween as did most demons, but since taking in Aisling he'd found that he liked any reason to spend with Aisling and a holiday that took place after sunset and had most vampires and malevolent demons staying inside was the perfect kind of holiday for him and her.

"Halloween's my favourite holiday," Spike said. "Because it's a night I get to spend with you."

Kat came back outside to Aisling hugging Spike crying tears of Joy.

A/N Lots of Exposition.
I kind of see Aisling's refusal of taking those drugs as misunderstanding what they do. She thinks the drugs are going to make her into a completely different person, and it takes a while before it sinks in that, no, that's not how they work.

She understands a bit more later on.

Where you able to guess Aisling's costume?

Hint!

(The stuffed dog is named Toto)
