A/N: one shot 1 in 'Aizawa has a little sister AU.' hope you enjoy it.
Disclaimer: I own Shizuko. But outside of that I own nothing.
Summary:When Shouta and his quirkless younger sister Shizuko move to Musutafu neither Shouta nor Shizuko really believe things will be much different.
And then they meet the Midoriyas.
The light turned red just as Shouta drove up to it; he stepped on the brake to stop the car. When the car was no longer moving, he turned his head to check on his young passenger. His younger sister Shizuko Aizawa.
Shizuko was a 9-year-old raven-haired girl was staring out the car window; her cheek resting on her left hand. She was dressed out in a pink t-shirt, and blue jean shorts. Her right hand was covered in a black fingerless glove that went down to her elbow. On her feet were red shoes with white soles, and her hair was tied back in a half up half down ponytail.
She didn't say anything. Hadn't said much since the ride started just stared silently out the window.
Hesitantly he reached out and grasped her hand. "It'll be better." He told her though inside he knew he was only lying to her to make her (himself) feel better. "I promise."
Shizuko stared up at him, he could see the pain and sadness in her eyes, as well as a faint hint of disbelief. After staring at him for a moment or two longer she turned back to stare out the window. "Don't make promises like that." She said quietly. "Please."
And didn't that hurt? That despite being a pro-hero, trained specifically to stop injustice, he couldn't stop his own sister from getting abused.
He looked at the fingerless glove encasing her right forearm. His hands clenched the steering wheel so hard his knuckles turned white.
Behind him a car honked angrily, Shouta looked up to see that the light had turned, signaling he could drive.
He stepped on the gas and the car pitched forward.
They drove the rest of the way in silence.
"Oh hello!"
Shizuko and Shouta both paused as they stopped by the door to their new apartment. Shizuko lugging a rolling suitcase behind her with one hand a backpack hanging off her back and a cat carrier in the otherhand. Shouta was carrying two suitcases in his hands. They turned to see a woman with green hair and standing beside her was a boy around Shizuko's age with green hair and eyes.
"Hello," Shouta said placing his suitcase on the ground and pulling the keys out of his pocket.
"Hello," Shizuko said with a small wave.
The young boy was staring wide-eyed at Shizuko's shoes, confused Shizuko looked down at her feet before staring at the other boy's feet that had the exact same red shoes with white soles.
Not many shoe stores catered to the quirkless demographic, especially not to kids. So if a quirkless child needed shoes – especially athletic shoes – there was only one company to buy from and they tended to only make the shoes in one colour scheme.
"Are you quirkless?" They both asked at the same time.
They both paused and stared at each other. Shizuko giggled in embarrassment while the green-haired boy blushed.
For a moment neither said anything. Shouta could only assume that while both knew that their shoes were only worn by the quirkless, they couldn't help but be cautious, in case they were wrong. Shouta knew the pain that Shizuko had been through with her, own quirklessness, and if the other boy was quirkless like his shoes suggested, he likely had been through a similar treatment. (He hoped not, gosh he hoped, no one deserved what Shizuko had been through.)
Eventually, Shizuko turned to stare up at Shouta searching his expression for… something. Whatever she was looking for she must have found because then she squared her shoulders and stepped forward and held out her hand. "I am Aizawa Shizuko, and I am quirkless."
Midoriya stared at her with wide eyes and then his face broke out into the biggest grin. He stepped forward and clasped her hand with his. "I'm Midoriya Izuku, I'm quirkless too."
Shouta stared at the two of them. He wasn't a hopeful person by nature, that part of him had died when Shirakumo died, and whatever had been left was swept away when his parents died leaving him to take care of his younger sister.
But looking at Shizuko's face, her excitement at having finally found another person her age who understood exactly what she was going through, her smile (She hadn't smiled a real joyful happy smile since…) at the thought of a possible new friend…
He couldn't help but hope that maybe things in Musutafu would be just a bit better.
A/N It's not really like 'oh new friend, the bullying will end' but more 'at least she isn't alone' that Shouta has hopes for.
