Ch: 2 Divide and conquer

(Shinso's pov - Hatsume workshop - 1402)

After the discovery of the first bug and the revelation of the obvious question that myself, Froppy, and Creati missed, Midoriya worked at a frantic pace like a hound finding a scent. His odd contraption scanning every corner of the room along each bench and piece of hero gear, at least two more bugs were found by his search. Upon discovery I would see him turn and analyze each one looking at it from every angle muttering all the while. After that he nodded as if satisfied by his efforts and approached us with the bugs in hand and placed them on the table before addressing us. "Whoever took Miss Hatsume will know by now of our discovery of their bugs, if you look upon each one and analyze each you'll notice that each one is entirely different from the other two, each serving a highly specialized role." He then grabbed the bugs, handing us each one before continuing. "I deduce it was a gradual process so as to not raise suspicion, if I recall correctly there's been a recent rise in league activity since Mineta's death, correct?" Creati nodded. "Then this might explain why." He then pointed at Froppy, more specifically the first bug found that now laid in her oversized palm. "That would have been the first, a simple GPS locator to transmit exactly where this workshop is."

I raised mine up to inspect it, I noticed a small red light and more interestingly an extremely small camera. "They we're watching her, probably to keep tabs when she was here or just room layout." At which point Midoriya nodded.

"Microphone then, to hear when she's alone or intelligence gathering." I looked at Creati as she spoke in her calm manner, wondering if I sounded as calm.

Midoriya nodded at us. "An extremely well thought out if risky plan, however now that we found these items we're left with the dilemma on what to do with them." He looked over at the workbench before smiling. "If you all would be so kind as to hand me the bugs." He stretched out his hand and we each placed our bug on it. "Thank you." He turned and went towards the workbench which held a cup of water on it and dropped the two inside it. "Now we can speak freely." He looked over at us. "We have three avenues available to continue the investigation." He poured out the water catching the two now inoperable bugs. "Firstly the GPS tracker might yet still be sending its signal if we're lucky I'll be able to find out where it's relaying it's information to. Second, the maker or provider of the bugs themselves, and lastly we must find out who planted them on the heros I predict a series of interviews is in order."

"*Kero* But mister Midoriya, how does this help us find Mei?"

Creati looked over at Froppy. "It'll at least tell us who provided the bugs, and where the information was being sent to. A better place to start than nothing."

Midoriya nodded. "Exactly, but we must be quick about it. Her captors now know of our knowledge of the bugs, our window of surprise is short and until we find out what exactly their plan we must assume they'll make every effort to speed up their timetable." He looked over at Creati and Froppy. "I believe it would be best if you two were the one to interview the heros." He reached into his coat pulling out a business card. "Contact me once done. Shinso and I will investigate the source of the bugs, we'll report in and go from there agreed?"

We all nodded and shortly after Creati and Froppy left. I looked over at Midoriya. "Thought you only helped with police cases."

He shook his head smiling. "No, that would be a terrible business strategy I'd think." He then eyed me and I had to admit a bit of unease as he obviously analyzed me. "Fan of Eraserhead I take it?" He began to walk ahead, and after a moment of surprise I followed.

"Surprised you could tell, even more surprised that you know about him."

He waved a hand at that. "Believe it or not I used to be a massive hero fan."

"Used to be?" We we're making our way out of the Hatsume home, when I felt my heart clench at the idea of her parents realizing Mei went missing in their own home. I suppose with how analytical he was I shouldn't have been surprised at him placing a hand on my shoulder and giving me a smile.

"We'll find her."

"How do you know? They just took her, I mean what if they killed her?"

"Then we'll find her murderers and see justice is served. As of now we have our leads and roles to play." He removed his hand from me as we made our way outside and towards my car.

"You already know where the League got the bugs from?" I asked, amazed as I opened the car to get in."

"A hunch." He pulled out the camera bug looking at it. "There's one woman I know that has the knowledge to make a thing like this and morally just loose enough to help the League. Tell me Shinso, what do you know of La Brava?"
