The call from Nagakura came earlier than I anticipated, yet was a welcomed distraction from cleaning the graffiti that had been left on my door, as such I promptly made my way to the station via cab. The activity around the station was most expected, obviously Mineta's death must have leaked, now the only question was if word of his…pastime did as well. Newscasters and vans lined the entrance and parking lot, a podium was set up for what I can imagine being a future press conference. Voices of all kind overlapping and drowned out all other sounds acting like a magnet to attract various citizens that were either aware of the murder, or simply curious to the site.
Entering the station I was immediately greeted by tired looks from various officers and most pressing to me was Nagakura's raised voice arguing with what sounded like another man in his office. As I got closer I noticed a man with messy purple hair and tired eyes sitting next to the door clearly bored before he spotted me and stood. "You Midoriya?" I nodded, at which point he made for the door. "Good they've been arguing for the last few minutes over you." As we entered I saw mister Nagakura arguing with the station captain before the purple haired man cleared his throat getting their attention.
The captain, Mister Tsukauchi, looked as worn out as ever, recent times being far too harsh on the dedicated ex-detective and showing. "Ah thank you Shinsou, Mister Midoriya. Please sit, we have much to discuss." I nodded as asked, after all this was expected, finding one of the 1-A hero's dirty secrets was bound to cause an uproar. "Mister Shinsou is here as a representative of the Hero Commission." Ah so that's his name.
Shinsou looked at me before speaking. "Kirishima and Mina were impressed by your performance and convinced the commission to let you help the investigation." He shrugged. "If you still want to help."
Nagakura bristled red faced. "And if all evidence be turned over to the commission. Like Mineta's little box of photos! Captain again you can't be seriously considering letting the commission take this over!" Ah yes I can see why he'd be upset by this. The commission isn't really known for letting people know about their people's bad habits, if anything Mineta might be remembered as a harmless pervert senselessly murdered at home instead of a date rapist. On the other hand, the police barely have the manpower to keep the peace on the streets let alone look into this case. I began thumbing my fingers on the table.
Captain Tsukauchi sighed, rubbing his face. "Nagakura I hate this too but you know we just can't handle this case, the public is already demanding answers and inquiries are being made. Let this go."
Shinsou grimaced a bit, opening his mouth before I spoke. "So I was called in to see if I would help then? If so then I will if only to sate my curiosity."
Shinsou then shook his head. "That and for this." He reached on the table for a sheet of paper. "Standard non disclosure agreement for what you saw. Once you sign we'll be going through the evidence that was found at Mineta's home." I nodded as I read over the contract before finally signing. When done he thanked me and took the agreement. "Alright, Captain Tsukauchi, we're ready."
He nodded, picking up a box with standard evidence folders. "On Saturday August 8 Kaminari walked into the home finding Mineta's body at which point we were contacted as well as mister Midoriya."
I raised a hand at which he nodded. "If it's alright I'd rather get started Captain without a recap. What of the women in the photos, have they been identified yet?"
He sighed. "Facial ID has identified most of the women. As of now fifteen out of twenty women have been named and questioned, three were tourists to the country and are currently back in their country of origin, final two are dead. We've interviewed most of the women already still waiting on the last few but as of now each has given an alibi, and record of their actions the day of the murder." He then passed me the box which I began to finger through. "No murder weapon was found on scene but given the nature of quirks one might not have been used. No prints were found on site."
Shinsou looked at the captain. "What about security cameras?"
I responded while reading the CSI report. "None are in that apartment building and I saw none in the loft either, however the restaurant across the street had one pointing near the entrance. So I suggest we go there." I turned the page feeling Shinsou's eyes on me as well as the Captain's before looking up and feeling my face turn red. "Sorry." A thought then came to mind. "What are the local nightclubs in the area?"
Shinsou raised an eyebrow in confusion. "It's a bit early to party, isn't it?"
I shook my head. "It is my theory that Mineta was killed by a woman, perhaps one of his victims or a close friend or family member to them, that he found and brought home from a club. Most have cameras and if all things go according to plan we should be able to get a look at the murderer. If not then at least we'll see the full timeline of events before the murder." At this the others nodded seeing my logic. "That is if the Commission is still willing to take my advice."
Shinsou nodded. "Lead the way detective."
I stood thanking the Captain and Nagakura and turned to my purple haired escort. "Well then let's get started!"
