Chapter 23: IS x Code Geass

AN: I came up with this plot bunny after noticing the lack of IS x CG crossovers. Plus most CG fanfics on FFN consist of nothing but mostly time-travel/redo-over fanfics. There are very few CG fanfics where Nunnally gets geass and forms her own rebellion. I liked Nightmare of Nunnally but was a bit disappointed when the focus switched to Alice when Nunnally is supposed to be the protagonist. I loved Code Geass. It's one of the best anime series of all time and remains a modern classic to this day with it's blend of mecha, military tactics and strategy, genius protagonist, supernatural abilities, really good anime openings, and a lot of surprises and twists throughout the series. While this plot bunny is strongly rooted in Code Geass since that is the setting, I took some creative effort to fit IS stuff into the story as I intended to have IS units in the form of Knightmare Frames.

Story Concept:

The world timeline and history of this story differs from canon this history, there exists more Immortals besides CC and VV who could grant geass to people. Among them are beings such as BB, DD, RR, and SS, these Immortals referred to themselves as Prophets who see their purpose with their power is to guide humanity in the right path away from the evils of monarchies and rule based on the ideals of the Enlightenment. Also in this timeline, America as a concept didn't die even though Britannia won against the 13 American Colonies. It survived and became something else unique entirely. After BB killed Benjamin Franklin for betraying the American Revolutionary cause, the Prophets combined their power together to use a Sword of Akasha site located in what would be known as the future capital of the Holy Britannian Empire to spirit away significant portions of the American colonial population who remained faithful to American Revolutionary ideals while delivering one last blow that annihilate Britannian General Cornwallis at Yorktown, Virginia, where Washington died. These last acts of colonial defiance left the colonies almost depopulated to the point that Britannia could only maintain control of them with continued military occupation until new colonists could be brought in to resettle America.

The Prophets and their flock were transported to another Sword of Akasha site situated in Australia. Overtime, the Prophets and their people would develop a unique form of government that was largely democratic and but retained the Prophets as unofficial supreme religious leaders; a mixture of constitutional theocratic democratic republic known as the Oceanic Union, or just Oceania. Up to the point of the major events of CG canon timeline, Oceania had mostly stayed non-interventionist and isolationist but barring few exceptions which were conflicts both direct and indirect against Britannia. Oceania had control of Australia, New Zealand, most South Pacific Islands including the Polynesian islands, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and its most treasured possession Antarctica. It generally welcomed immigrants, refugees, and dissidents from other parts of the world to raise its population, but at the same time it demanded that its new arrivals not be a burden to the nation and expulsions was possible for new immigrants were either unable to economically support themselves within a period of time or sought to destabilize the country as was the case of Communists and Marxists in much of the 20th Century. Oceania has developed considerable industrial and military power due to an abundant supply of geothermal energy thanks to its numerous active volcanoes as well as solar-power network spanning from Australia, development of and access to advanced technology, and generous laws attracting skilled labor, educators in hard sciences, scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, and investors. Antarctica was fully developed where people lived and settled on the frozen continent. It is in Antarctica where Orb discovered its own rich Sakurite reserves, a crucial discovery that meant that Oceania would not have to buy Sakurite from Britannia after it conquered Japan. Later advances in creation and manufacturing of artificial Sakurite and other suitable alternatives to Sakurite itself would allowed Oceania to undercut Britannia's near-monopoly grip over the world's Sakurite supply and sell its artificial Sakurite and suitable alternatives to the other world superpowers of the Chinese Federation and Europa United. This allows the other two superpowers to pose a more formidable challenge to Britannia, as in canon timeline they didn't really do much as it could be implied that they were dependent on Britannia for their Sakurite needs.

Historically, Oceania was an attractive place for a large number of Japanese immigrants and became the largest expat location for Japanese, especially after Britanna conquered Japan and turned it into Area 11. Oceania had the highest number of ethnic Japanese outside of Japan that when ethnic Japanese reached parity with the descendant American population, Japanese would be adopted as the second official language of the Oceanic Union after English. Whereas Britannia forcefully opened up Japan to trade, Oceania befriended Japan as Oceania helped Japan retain its independence from foreign influence especially those of Britannia. Because Oceania was well known for its relative political and economic stability, being the earliest proponent of human rights and freedoms, and its stance as a neutral nation, it is known as the "Land of Freedom, Peace, and Prosperity". However, at times even it had to put aside its non-interventionist neutrality stance as in the case of the World Wars that ravaged the first half of the 20th Century. Oceania fought to prop up the sovereign nations of Europa to keep them free from Britannia with mixed results; Europa remained free democratic nations, but the Soviet Union fell and was conquered by Britannia and transformed into Euro-Britanna.

By the second half of the 20th Century after the World Wars, Oceania focused much of its national advancements into space explorations that by the 2010s, Orb had fully functional space colonies on the Moon, the Asteroid Belt, and the Lagrange points and many large satellite stations. This was a part the Prophets' contingencies to preserve the Oceanian people by providing them a place to flee into space should Oceania ever be devastated by war against Britannia. These many space colonies also allow Oceania to accommodate its growing population from natural-born citizens as well as immigrants and refugees fleeing Communist upheavals in their original nations and later on Britanna conquest and oppression in the Areas. While Britanna achieved global superpower status, Oceania became the first "spacepower" nation as no other nation or superpower could challenge Oceania's dominance in space. Oceania had returned to its non-interventionist isolationist stance after the World Wars and sought to be detached from the rest of the world unless it was matters in which Britannia could harm its interests and sovereignty. Nevertheless, Oceania retained close ties with Japan, seeing it as a "sibling nation" and recognizing a special relationship existed between them. So when Britannia shocked the world by conquering Japan and turning it into Area 11, Oceania took in the largest number of Japanese refugees followed by Europa United. When Orb had heard of the mistreatment of Japanese refugees in the EU, Oceania would conduct ongoing negotiations with the EU government to try to transfer the Japanese refugees to Oceania. But political corruption, ineptitude, and blighted bureaucracy have largely prevented the EU government from successfully transferring Japanese refugees in the EU over to the Oceanic Union, even with Oceania offering many benefits and incentives over the years to do so, including Knightmare (KMF) related technology exchanges as well as joint-development on the Rafale Revive KMF. The EU became even less likely to hand over Japanese refugees to Oceania when its military formed the secret W-0 unit to combat Euro-Britannia, intending to recruit and sacrifice its Japanese refugees population to pacify its war-wary civilian population.

Not wanting to fall behind Britannia and the other superpowers in the KMF arms race, Oceania proceeded with its own KMF development. Using its vast intelligence network and economic and industrial power, Oceania was able to obtain data and actual samples of stolen and captured Britannian KMFs and reverse-engineer them to produce the 5th generation mass-produced Uchigane for their own use, while manufacturing the 4th generation Leo as a cheap mass-produced export-based KMF (AN: the KMF Leo uses Sonic Blade, not Beam Sabers like its counterpart in Gundam Wing). While Britannia was responsible for most of the Generations of KMF development, Oceania would initiate the Sixth Generations of KMF known as "Experimentation", which is defined as attempts at improvements of existing generational KMFs beyond their initial design. The Rafale Revive was the first 6th generation KMF that was originally jointly developed by Oceania and the EU. However, political corruption and ineptitude on part of the EU such as late and delayed procurements of funds, resources, and personnel meant that Oceania largely shouldered the development of the Rafale Revive to make sure the project finished on schedule. When the EU cease continued negotiations to transfer their Japanese refugee population to Oceania, coupled with the Prophets unwilling to continue to prop up the bumbling EU that is unable to make progress in its war against Euro-Britannia, Oceania eventually kicked the EU out of the Rafale Revive joint-development program and gave the EU a limited number of Rafale Revives based on what little money the EU contributed to the program while keeping the rest of the Rafale Revives for itself. Most of those Rafale Revives would go to France and Germany as they were the only EU nations to pay their agreed contributions into the program. The EU would use the Rafale Revives it got to produce the 7th generation Alexander models. Oceania would contribute two more mass-produced KMFs to the 6th Generation - first, the versatile and easily customizable GM; the second, the first mass-produced transferable KMF known as the Union Flag. Electromagnetic accelerated weapons such as railgun and coilgun based weapons and gauss cannons - some of these weapons being handheld for KMF and easy to carry - were technology that made their way to the 6th Generation as well as better CQC weapons to engage KMFs such as Sonic Blades and Heat Swords.

However, the primary accomplishment of the 6th Generation would be the Infinite Stratos Cores invented by Tabane Shinonono that would be used on a select number of KMFs to boost their performance far beyond KMFs just using Yggdrasil Drives alone. The second main accomplishment of the 6th Generation is the experimentation of energy weapons to be implemented into KMFs, which was accomplished with the creation of the 6th generation Prototype CQC KMF known as Shirokishi. Armed with an experimental particle cannon and a Prototype Beam Broadsword, the Shirokishi would repel a Britannian naval skirmishing flotilla that was within distance of Oceania's territorial waters and had fired off 2,341 missiles at Oceania. Piloting the Shirokishi, Chifuyu intercepted the missiles and destroyed the skirmisher Britannian flotilla. In response, Britannia sent a formidable fleet from Area 11 supported by Sutherland and Gholchester KMFs equipped with experimental flight and aquatic technology. With backup made up of Oceania's 5th gen KMFs in the form of Rafale Revives and Uchiganes using unmanned sub-flight system aircraft and the newly deployed 6th gen transformable Union Flags, Shirokoshi would annihilate said enemy force consisting of 14 destroyers and cruisers, 6 Britannian Carrier-Battleships, 8 Britannian Dreadnought-class Aircraft Carriers, and a combined might of 207 combat units consisting of fighter jets, Glasgows, Sutherlands, Portmans, and Gloucesters. Since the Britannian Empire was focused on major conflicts in Africa and the Middle East, Britannian forces in the Pacific would be forced to back down and the event would be remembered as the "White Knight Incident". Shirokishi would not be seen again but it would be remembered for the incident for its namesake and being the fastest KMF of the 6th generation.

Britannia's attempted incursion into Oceania's territorial waters would prompt the Prophets to take a more proactive approach to Britannia's presence in the Pacific. The Immortal known as RR would assume command of a long-term infiltration and special operation missions in Area 11 to eventually oust Britannia from Area 11 which is now serving as the main base of its Asian-Pacific forces. In a secret meeting between Oceania, the Chinese Federation, and select leaders of the EU military, an agreement was reached to send a taskforce into Area 11 and help the Japanese resistance movement oust Britannia from their homeland; the name of this task force would be the International Sovereign Alliance (ISA). Both superpowers had their reasons for participating - the Chinese Federation wanting to install a puppet government in Japan while the EU needed a battlefield to test their experimental KMFs and have their pilots gain experience. The size of the group was kept small to military company size to minimize risk of discovery and as ISA was mostly led by Oceania, the other nations sent a few number of people and KMFs to the team. From the Chinese Federation are KMF pilots and cousins Lingyin and Luanyin Huang and their commanding officer Lei Lei Yang. The EU side would start off with French pilot Charlotte Dunois and the German special forces unit Schwarzer Hase led by Laura Bodewig and Clarissa Harfouch, with future EU personnel to ISA would still be under discussion and evaluation depending on conditions in Area 11. The executive officers and command staff of ISA would consist of Chifuyu Orimura, Maya Yamada, Tabane Shinonono, Clarissa Harfouch, and Karen Calleria (aka "Leader" according to IS Wiki) while the field commanders are Ichika Orimura, Natasha Fairs, Iris Calling, and Laura Bodewig.

RR, the Immortal tasked with the long-term infiltration plan to oust Britannia from Japan, had long established himself in the Tokyo Settlement. In the years between Britannia's conquest and subjugation of Japan into Area 11 and the start of Code Geass R1, RR had established a vastly large and covert sophisticated intelligence network with connections reaching the JLF and numerous resistance forces to the corrupt Britannian military and police. He also had connections with what few prominent Japanese families left and Britannian high society, having recruited the mysterious Sarashiki family which had close connections to the Six Houses of Kyoto and the Britannian noble Alcott family. During the Second Pacific War, the Sarashiki family sent Kanzashi and Honne Nohotoke away in the last evacuation planes out of Japan while the rest of the family under the previous family head stayed behind to begin preparations for organized resistance. Tatenashi had taken over the Sarashiki family by the time R1 started with the family being RR's source of intel on Japanese resistance groups and the Six Houses which the Sarashiki had connections with prior to the war. In the case of the Alcott family, RR offered great help to protect Cecilia's family fortune and property assets in exchange for intelligence work. Cecilia accepted as she and her family's fortune were vulnerable after the mysterious and suspicious deaths of her parents. With Cecilia's help, RR obtained a cover identity as a student at Ashford Academy. It was there that RR would accidentally discover Nunnally and from there he developed plans to use her as an unexpected means of ousting Britannia from Japan. Cecilia would befriend Nunnally and while it started off as an act, she would quickly become best friends with Nunnally becoming her only real companion at school. Cecilia would introduce RR to Nunnally and the two would close overtime as he slowly earned her trust with his frankness and honesty. RR was a breath of fresh air to Nunnally as RR didn't sugar-coat things or hold back for her sake or pity like most people around her would. Nunnally liked honest people and thus appreciated having someone like RR as her friend.

RR sets the stage for the events that led up to everything that happened at Shinjuku. He had been the mysterious sponsor of the late Naoto Kouzuki's rebel cell and tipped them off to the location of the supposed poison gas capsule. He made plans to take Nunnally on a tour of the Shinjuku ghetto. RR convinces the ISA Taskforce to steal and hijack Britanna's experimental KMFs. On the same day Kouzuki's group stole the poison gas capsule, ISA raided a Camelot facility housing a prototype KMF codenamed "Mark Nemo", an unfinished Lancelot, a Lancelot Club, and Sutherland Clubs (Units 1 and 2). According to RR's plan, Kouzuki's group was supposed to be sacrificed so no one would notice the ISA stealing the prototype KMFs and Tabane hacking Camelot's data terminals for info and data on Britannia's various KMF development programs. The ISA Taskforce rendezvous in Shinjuku only to find themselves caught up in the Shinjuku massacre and in the chaos the trailer carrying the 7th gen KMF Mark Nemo was lost. RR had used the tour of the ghetto to tell Nunnally about Marianne's death at the hands of her family, with her and Lelouch being left in Japan to die. To show Nunnally how horrible the world was and what has happened to the Japanese because of the Britannian royal family, RR undid Charles's geass on her, giving her back her sight and ability to walk again. The trailer carrying the Mark Nemo crashes next to them, Britannian troops arrive to reclaim the stolen KMF. RR was supposedly killed via headshot protecting Nunnally (but not before giving Nunnally geass), and Nunnally gets into the Mark Nemo to stop the Britannians from massacring Japanese.

Having been finally pinned down, ISA had no choice but to resort to using the stolen prototypes to fight back, with Ichika piloting the unfinished Lancelot. When the rebel group co-opted by Lelouch fell apart to the Lancelot, ISA managed to hold the line and prevent the Britannian military's advance. Ichika was able to hold his own against Suzaku and his finished Lancelot, but Suzaku gets backup from Rai and Nonette Enneagram (Knight of 9) - both piloting their Lancelot Clubs. With Ichika facing serious defeat and possible capture, Kanzashi Sarashiki chooses to intervene at a critical moment with her customized 6th gen Uchigane Nishiki KMF to provide Ichika missile barrage support. The other ISA pilots converged on the scene with the stolen KMF prototypes and their custom KMFs, forcing Nonette to issue a retreat order to all Britannian forces. Clovis still dies at the hands of Zero. Ichika and Kanzashi persuade Nunnally to come with them as they leave Shinjuku.

After the Shinjuku massacre, Nunnally takes on the persona of Nemo and with help from RR and ISA Taskforce, she would form the Order of the White Paladins to systematically sabotage, cripple, and weaken the Britannian military to the point they can no longer fight effectively and hold territory. The White Paladins greatly differ from Black Knights in that they typically shoot retreating Britannian troops and KMFs in the back and show them no mercy. Ambushes, assassinations, black ops, and guerrilla warfare are their favorite forte. During the Battle at Kyushu rather than helping Britannian forces and the Black Knights repel the Chinese invasion, Nemo and the White Paladins continued to hit, raid, and pillage Britannian bases up and down across Area 11. As much as Zero as well as other rebel groups and the Houses of Kyoto are annoyed by Nemo and the White Paladins, there is little they could really do against her; not with ISA and their powerful custom KMFs being allies of Nemo and her White Paladins. Because Nunnally/Nemo are close allies with ISA, the White Paladins get first dibs on everything from the latest KMF models to newest system upgrades. Nemo's chosen ace pilots would have all KMFs equipped with Blaze Luminous shielding. The other rebel groups including Black Knights and JLF would also benefit via "trickle-down effect" since ISA did supplied smuggled and stolen KMFs to the Houses of Kyoto, who in term distribute them to other rebel groups, with Blaze Luminous-equipped units being handed out based on merit and results. ISA also benefits from the trade, as it buys them influence from the Houses of Kyoto to wield over other rebel groups and have Kyoto get the other groups off their backs. Some stolen Britannian KMFs would be sent to the Chinese Federation as research material in hopes that it would help them reverse-engineer and build KMFs that are better than their existing 4th gen Gun-Ru model.

Nunnally's Mark Nemo would constantly get upgrades from ISA, eventually receiving an IS Core as the story gets closer to the end of R1. To everyone's surprise, Nunnally inherited Marriane's gifted KMF piloting skills and as result she would undergo immense training by Chifuyu to be a superior KMF pilot and capable warrior in her own right. With each battle, her KMF piloting skills would grow by huge leaps of margins to the point that she could fight both Suzaki and Rai in a KMF battle with very little difficulty once the story is three-fourths of the way to the end of R1. After examining the stolen unfinished Lancelot for its technology and sending data and information copies back to Oceania, Tabane then completed and customized said Lancelot into the Byakushiki and assigned it to Ichika. The two Sutherland Clubs which were stolen by Dan and Ran Gotanda and used during the Shinjuku massacre against Britannian forces would remain with them. In the similar case with Houki Shinonono, she would keep the Lancelot Club she stole though it would be customized to her specifications and upgraded to be on par with the original Lancelot and it too would come with an IS Core. In a twist of irony, Houki renamed her Lancelot Club to Guinevere as she sees herself as Ichika's love interest and Ichika himself pilots a Lancelot-based KMF. The irony would be even thicker whenever Houki battles Suzaku and his original Lancelot KMF and like plenty of other IS Japanese characters, she absolutely hates Suzaku. The Guinevere would serve as a starter KMF for Houki until she receives the Akatsubaki much later in the story. Cecilia would become more proactive in White Paladin engagements with a prototype unit "Vilkiss" from the 6.5-7th gen KMF series called Ragna-mail (AN: mecha from Cross Ange anime). The transformable KMF "Vilkiss" serves as Cecilia's real starter unit and is a massive upgrade from a custom Stealth Sniper Gloucester she previously used and would serve as prototype for her upgrade to the more advanced 7th gen KMF "Blue Tears" at the end of R1. Cecilia would later pledge herself to Nunnally, becoming the Knight of Nunnally Vi Britannia. The Sarashiki family would be the first Japanese noble family to support Nemo and the White Paladins and soon a lot more distinguished Japanese noble clans would follow suit. Tatenashi Sarashiki would pilot the Gekka Pre-Production Test Type while Utsuho Nohotoke piloted the Burai Experimental Radiant Wave Type, two prototype KMFs given to the Sarashiki family by the Six Houses. Laura, Charlotte, and Lingyin Huang (aka Rin) of course would pilot KMFs based on their IS units from the IS series.

It would be absolute chaos and anarchy as there exists a frenemy relationship and rivalry going on with Zero and Nemo. Armed with the Geass of Absolute Precognition, Nemo would be just as effective as Zero is in winning battles against Britannia and inspiring hope to the Japanese. Their strategies will differ in that Nunnally/Nemo seeks to reclaim every inch of conquered territory from the Empire. Starting from the northern parts of Area 11 where her pillars of support and resources for her are strongest since that is where the ISA are mostly based at, allowing for her "March to the South'' campaign to reclaim Japan from north to south to be slow but steady success. Her White Paladins would grow in size after the fall and defeat of the JLF, as half of their remaining members would flock to her while the other half went with Zero's Black Knights. The ISA Taskforce would be a great help to Nunnally in battle and recruitment drive, ranging from providing total air dominance (because Britannia lacked aerial flight-capable KMF presence or anti anti-air assets in Area 11) to attack ground forces from, to staging scavenging raids where the White Paladins would end up stealing as much as Britannia's KMFs and weapons that Cornelia has to import more KMFs from the homeland and other Areas to maintain sufficient numbers. Those cargo freighters and carrier ships carrying more KMFs into Japan would also be subjected to raids and hijackings from the White Paladins.

Even if Nemo's plan may be at times be subpar compared to that of Zero at times, her Geass of Absolute Precognition and her faction of better quality KMFs and pilots ensured that she would have an edge in the game she is playing against Britannia and Zero. The success of both Zero and Nemo would cause a split within the Six Houses of Kyoto over whom they should throw their unilateral support to after the JLF was no more, ultimately deciding on a compromise where they believe it would be best if both groups united under a single banner. At some critical point Rai would defect, though it is uncertain as to when he would defect Probably when Zero, Kallen, Suzaku, and Euphie are stuck on that island where Zero gets the Gawain. During that time Rai managed to confront Ichika, Nemo, and Cecilia when the White Paladins and ISA Taskforce attacked the latest Britannian naval fleet coming into Tokyo Harbor with weapons, supplies, and KMFs to loot for the growing rebellion as well as kill off the latest batch of soldiers and Knights sent to put down Japanese resistance. Ichika would convince Rai to defect by telling him to "follow your heart for once" instead of baseless meaningless orders, which he does since his love interest is basically on the other side of the war and Britannia doesn't have anything for him to hold onto.

RR would be the worst kind of opponent for Lelouch since Charles himself with his memory manipulation geass. The encounter between Zero and Nemo would be a mixed blessing and a curse. Nemo is literally a double edged sword for Lelouch/Zero, especially in the beginning when they were rivals competing for members, resources, and influence in a race to see who would be the one to liberate Japan first. In the first unofficial private meeting between the Black Knights and White Paladins, Lelouch came prepared to convince/coerce Nemo to follow his lead only for RR to throw a wrench in his face with a shocking revelation in the form of Nunnally in her Nemo outfit and unmasked. While Lelouch was relieved that Nunnally does share his understanding and beliefs about what needs to be done in order to create that peaceful world she wants, he hates the price that Nunnally has paid to order to obtain her geass, her newfound strength, and the mantle of Nemo - her innocence, the blood that is on her hands because of her battles against Britannia, and the inevitable toil it would have on her as it does on him. All of which he blames on RR for showing her the ugly reality and truth he was trying to hide and shelter her from and egging her on the path he was supposed to walk alone for her sake. He curses RR under his breath since RR not only knows Nunnally is his one big weakness but he is also a trusted friend of Nunnally due to their geass contract and their time as Ashford Academy students. After Nunnally gives a demonstration of her power (which leaves Lelouch in both awe and horror at the same time), RR would intentionally let it slip that he has sensed that Zero has seemed to already formed a contract with someone else already and asks him what power is his geass; in which Nunnally could only stare back at Zero with giant saucers in her eyes plastered on her shocked face. The shocking revelation with geass seriously rattles Nunnaly's perception of Zero, and it doesn't help the fact that Nunnally doesn't know that Lelouch and Zero are the same people in the beginning. It would be one of many wedges driven between the siblings.

It would be bad for Lelouch that RR's got Nunnally wrapped in finger just like she's got him wrapped around her fingers; that Nunnally is Nemo and Rai shows romantic interest in her. There is also the issue of Euphemia and the SAZ idea of hers, where RR's profound influence and grooming has its evident effect on Nunnally. Nunnally has grown to hate the Britannian royal family (good for Lelouch) to the point that she sees them all as her enemy that she won't hesitate to kill them all without regrets, which unfortunately includes Euphemia (seriously bad for Lelouch). This is where her Geass of Absolute Precognition reveals a small yet critical flaw. Nunnally foresees the SAZ massacre happening; but it doesn't show her exactly why or how it happened, only that it happened and that Euphemia initiated the massacre. Before Nunnally always did love Euphemia and actually acknowledges her as a real sister compared to all the other biological half-sisters she had. After her Precognition geass shows her the horrible future of the SAZ, she renounces her bond and love for Euphie and vows to destroy her too. So when Euphemia announces her SAZ plan, Nunnally/Nemo was quick to reply back - whereas Lelouch doesn't know what to do yet - by publicly denouncing her as a pretty-faced puppet doll who is lying to the Japanese and setting them up for slaughter like sheep. Nemo makes it perfectly clear to the Japanese people that since her White Paladins were closer than ever to liberating Japan that the SAZ is nothing more than a desperate ploy by Britannia to delay the inevitable, which is somewhat true as the northern areas of Japan have already been liberated and reclaimed as Japanese territory. Lelouch would confront Nunnally and be upset with her since he thinks Nunnally is wrong to lump Euphie in with the rest of their terrible family, only for Nunnally to drop the bombshell saying that she saw the SAZ would end in a bloody massacre and tragedy and at the hands of Euphemia no less. The revelation would shake Lelouch and further put him in a tough spot, leaving him indecisive since for once he doesn't know what to do or how the situation would unravel since Nunnally refuses to back down, spurred on by her vision of a terrible future event to come.

Though not everything will be easy going for Nunnally and the ISA characters. Schneizel el Britannia would dispatch Britannia's top secret hyper-lethal vector KMF squadron known as Phantom Task to deal with the White Paladins as they are seen as a bigger threat than the Black Knights and he suspects massive foreign covert support for the White Paladins as they became such a threat that the northern areas of Area 11 is now under their control. This means Madoka Orimura is fighting on Britannia's side while Chifuyu and Ichika are on the opposite side. The Orimura siblings would receive geass; however, they would not be the only characters to receive geass.

List of geass abilities of important characters:

Resonator Connection - Ichika's geass from RR. Its primary ability allows Ichika to "connect" with others through shared feelings and manipulate his targets to feel the same emotions and feelings that he does. This geass ability isn't only limited to having targets be affected by his own feelings as he could designate someone as a "resonator" point for others to be moved and swayed by the emotions and feelings of the "resonator". By linking people to Nunnally/Nemo's heart and soul, many people from different Japanese rebel groups could feel moved by the emotions that Nunnally feels and this in turn would make them more likely to join the White Paladins as they feel like they relate more to Nemo than they do other rebel leaders like Tohdoh or Zero. This also means that people would draw courage and bravery from Nunnally due to Ichika's geass connecting people's feelings together. However, this would not be the only ability of Ichika's geass as over time thanks to Tabane's Level Upper geass, Ichika's geass would develop the ability to resonate the geass abilities of multiple geass users together in synchronization to achieve an effect or ability that normally cannot be done by separate geasses alone. For example, Ichika's evolved geass would "connect" people's souls together to "resonate" with Nunnally's soul to allow them to see Nunnally's visions of the future. This geass could easily resonate the geass abilities of Lelouch and Rai together to use their "Absolute Obedience" geasses for greater maximum range and target more people beyond initial restrictions. With Nunnally's Absolute Precognition (see into the future) and Cecilia's Absolute Record (see into the past), Ichika's Resonator Connection geass could connect the two's soul and geass together and allow them a complete view of the past and future together.

Absolute Precognition - Nunnally's geass from RR. It allows Nunnally to see events into the distant future which in turn can allow Nunnally to plan for future events or manipulate events to avoid an undesirable future. Using this geass, Nunnally for the most part had been able to avoid serious losses to her White Paladins and move much closer to the future she desires. There are drawbacks to Absolute Precognition though as it does not show the complete picture nor show the how or why predicted events happened in the first place, only that it would happen. Absolute Precognition is also flawed as its predictions are based on the subjective interpretation of Nunnally and there's always a chance that Nunnaly could misinterpret her visions of the future. Furthermore, given how the "future" is always in motion and can be affected by people making different choices and decisions from the predicted vision, the future-predicting geass does not guarantee that events will always happen exactly as they are predicted to the smallest detail as deviations can occur. This geass is only part of the reason why Nunnally would find her resolution and resolve to kill Euphemia when she foresaw the SAZ massacre happening in the future. The second flaw is that originally Nunnally cannot read the distant future of individuals as her geass is more focused on events and is more broad than specific in scale. However, this limitation would be surpassed by Tabane's Level Upper geass and Nunnally would be able to read the specific future of any individual she makes eye contact with.

Absolute Truth - Chifuyu's geass from RR. It allows Chifuyu to force her target victims to cease any attempts to lie or deceive and compels them to be truthful. Chifuyu's geass also allows her to see through people's "masks'' and see them for who they really are underneath. For example, Chifuyu could use her geass on Suzaku to force him confront the "truth" of his hypocritical actions and morals and Suzaku is unable to make excuses or lie to himself even if he wanted to This makes Chifuyu one of the worst kind of geass-using opponents against Lelouch who is an expert liar, deceiver, and manipulator as these related skills are rendered useless against her. Other geass abilities that can be used to deceive or manipulate people's visions, perceptions, memories, dreams, and so forth afflicted on their targets can be negated by Chifuyu's geass. This means that Charles's memory manipulation geass as well as any geass like or similar to Absolute Obedience that compels the victim to forget or remember things differently from their original memory would be cancelled and the victim would return to their original state prior to being targeted by such geass abilities. Despite Lelouch's geass command to Shirley to forget about him, Nunnally sensed that something was wrong with Shirley and eventually got Chifuyu to aid her when she suspected geass involvement regarding Shirely's odd behavior around Lelouch. Chifuyu's geass was able to nullify Lelouch's geass order on Shirley since it was used for deception, effectively returning all Shirley's forgotten memories to her...during the events of R1 mind you. Chifuyu's geass would later be enhanced further by Tabane's Level Upper geass to be able to inflict extreme pain to the soul of the targeted individuals trying to lie to others or even deceive themselves. Thus, people who are unable to accept truth and reality would suffer greatly under Chifuyu's geass. It is said that when Emperor of Britannia, Charles zi Britannia, found out about this specific geass power, he admits his jealousy of Chifuyu as she possessed the kind of geass he always wanted given his hatred for deceit.

Level Upper - Tabane's geass from RR. Tabane's geass abilities originally allowed her to extend "the time length" of other people's geass abilities, limiting their growth and power so that users do not lose control of their geass or suffer mental instability from overusing geass. Level Upper cannot prevent the effects of "runaway Geass", geass that is permanently active from overuse and cannot be turned off, it can only delay it and thus buying geass users more time to "perfect" their geass powers or hold off being consumed by their own geass. It cannot do anything for a person whose geass is already permanently active. Thus Tabane would not be able to help someone like Mao anyway since he had already had a permanently active geass by the time of R1. Over time, Tabane's geass evolved to enhance other geass-user's geass abilities beyond their initial limitations as explained above. Hypothetically, if Lelouch's geass were enhanced by Level Upper, Lelouch would be able to use Absolute Obedience on targeted people within range of his eyesight without the restriction of having to make eye contact with his victims first prior to casting geass.

Absolute Record - Cecilia's geass from RR. A fitting counterpart to Nunnaly's geass of Absolute Precognition, Absolute Record allows Cecilia to see visions of events that happened in the past. This geass ability stems from the fact of her desire to know how her parents mysteriously died in a train accident. Like its counterpart, Absolute Record has a flaw where it does not show how or why past events happened in the first place, only that it already happened. However, Cecilia's geass is more stable than Nunnally's since unlike the future which can be changed, the past itself cannot be changed as it has already happened. Not even the effects of other geass abilities used to manipulate or change people's memories of the past can change that solid fact; thus, Absolute Record would essentially ignore the effects of geass that manipulate memories of the past of the targeted person. With enhancements from Tabane's Level Upper geass, Cecilia can read specific past events of her targets upon making eye contact. It was though Absolute Record was Cecilia able to shed some light onto the true nature of Marianne's death and reveal it to Nunnally even if they two did not know the whole picture. That Marianne had already been dead when Nunnally was placed in her dead arms to make it look like Marianne was protecting Nunnally; furthermore, Nunnally was never injured and there seems to be telltale signs that her memory of the event had been manipulated and remains incomplete. Enhanced or not, Cecilia's geass is one of few besides Chifuyu and Mao that can actually threaten Lelouch's mosaic cover of lies and deceit used to protect his alternate identity and persona as Zero.

Sensory Manipulation - Houki's geass from RR. It has the power to enhance or reduce the five main senses - sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste - of people within a 500 meter radius. She can either enhance certain senses to their maximum limit or reduce them to near worthlessness. However, she cannot remove a sense from her victim entirely, nor can she grant or restore senses that have already been lost. For example, she can render someone's eyesight near-blind, but she cannot render that person completely blind nor can she restore eyesight to someone who is already blind. Similarly, the sensation of pain (under the sense of "touch") can be enhanced or reduced but cannot be completely numbed so a person does not feel any pain; likewise, the touch sense can be enhanced to heighten sensitivity to pain to the point of being unbearable. Houki's geass to reduce senses to near uselessness can be countered to some degree depending on which senses are targeted with the use of glasses, contact lens, and other optical devices for eyesight, hearing aid devices for reduced hearing, and drugs to numb the sensation of extreme pain. There exist no countermeasures for extreme reduced sense of smell and taste. Only with enhancement from Tabane's Level Upper geass can Houki's geass actually nullify the chosen senses of her targets to render them completely blind, deaf, and unable to experience any smell, touch, or taste. Originally, Houki's geass could not distinguish between friend, foe, or civilian when choosing to enhance or reduce a chosen sense. Choosing to reduce eyesight or sound of enemies in her radius means it would affect her allies as well and similarity with any attempt to enhance the senses of her allies. Plus she can only choose one sense to affect at a time as she is unable to affect more than one sense. Only with enhancements from Tabane's Level Upper geass could Houki affect more than one sense and her geass can distinguish between targets to enhance or reduce select senses and leaving some people within Houki's range unaffected.

Geass Duplication - Kanzashi's geass from RR. Kanzashi has the ability to copy and use any geass that had been used on her or was exposed to. Thus she cannot replicate any geass she sees or is aware of alone, only those that have been used on her or were exposed to. Any geass abilities she copies and uses would be weaker than the original geass that was used on her though it is possible that some limitations of the copied geass may have been reduced or eliminated depending on how powerful or potent the original geass was. For example, if Kanzashi copied Lelouch's geass it would no longer be limited to one-time use on a person and thus allow Kanzashi to cast geass and give orders to the same person over again. However, her version of Lelouch's geass would be far weaker to the point where the target could resist her "absolute orders" with sufficient willpower and in some cases might be able to remember what they did while under the effects of her copied geass. Geass with time limitations would be further reduced or gone entirely. Initially Kanzashi could only use one copied geass at a time and any attempts at using multiple copied geass at the same time only caused severe unbearable headaches for her. But in the presence of Ichika's activated Resonator Connection geass, she would be able to use multiple copied geass simultaneously without drawbacks. With Tabane's Level Upper, Kanzashi's copied geass would be strengthened to the point of being equal to their originals though they would also suffer the same flaws as the original geasses Kanzashi copied from.

Geass Suppression - Madoka Orimura's geass she would receive. It is unknown which Immortal she received her geass from from but it's certainly not RR. Also called the "Geass Jammer'', Madoka's geass could suppress geass powers and effects within 500 meters radius. While similar to Jeremiah Gottwald's Geass Canceler, it can only suppress geass abilities active or geass casted on people within Madoka's 500 meters radius. Geass abilities can resume normally as well as geass effects on a person if they leave Madoka's 500 meter radius. If Madoka's geass is active, other geass users would be unable to use their geass until Madoka turns off her geass (willingly or from mental exhaustion) or rendered unconscious. Her ability to suppress geass is dependent on how recently said geass power had been around. The older the geass power is, the harder it is to suppress it. For example, if CC somehow possessed her geass long after becoming Immortal, then Madoka's Geass Suppression would hardly affect it at all. In comparison, Mao's active geass would be successfully suppressed in minutes while Charles zi Britannia's geass if active would take as long as ten minutes to be completely suppressed. If enhanced by Tabane's Level Upper geass, Madoka's geass could seal away the geass power of another person (including cases of "runaway" geass) though it would be a contest of wills between her and the person whose geass she is trying to seal away, as someone with stronger willpower would be able to resist her efforts at geass suppression. With Level Upper, Madoka could also negate any geass used on person though it would be a measure between the strengthen of the geass casted on the target and Madoka's willpower to negate and cancel the geass effect on the target. The older and more powerfully binding the geass order is, the more effort it would take for Madoka to negate and cancel it.

AN: Most IS characters would use KMF that are based on their IS units For some IS characters who won't pilot their IS-based KMFs now, it would be done later as is the case of Houki, Cecilia, and Tatenashi. In Tatenashi's case, she wouldn't pilot the 8th-9th gen KMF unit "Mysterious Lady" until some time for what passes as R2 in this AU story. This is because in IS canon (Infinite Stratos 2 episode 4) the Mysterious Lady is near OP with its ability to manipulate water with nanomachines and there isn't a single counter to this ability. Now just imagine the Mysterious Lady in KMF form and you would probably understand why it is best saved until far later in the story setting where it can rival the 9th gen iterations of the Lancelot and Guren. Chifuyu would pilot the Kuresakura for much of R1 if she fights at all, although it is possible that she could use the Shirokishi at the end of R1 to evoke shock, dread, and fear among the Britannians during the chaos of the predestined SAZ massacre. Other IS characters and IS units including those from the cancelled Archetype Breaker game can be added in at the discretion of anyone who wishes to adopt this story idea.

A lot of time and effort had been spent building up Nunnally's own rebellion group and the IS characters who would be her dear friends and allies in her fight against Britannia. The big contrast between Nunnally and Lelouch would be that while Lelouch doesn't have any geass user on his side other than Rolo in R2 and would mostly have to deal with geass matters by himself, Nunnally would have friends also equipped with their own geass and thus she would not be alone in matters of geass and she has people she could turn to for help. Anyone who wants to complain about the number of geass users on Nunnally's side and how their specific power makes her side OP should dutifully note that Britannia has the Geass Directorate which raises an army of geass users and that VV as head of the group handed out geass to lots of individuals on the Britannian side. Plus the specific geass abilities I thought up for characters are designed in a way that they can be used in tandem well together instead of random geass abilities that might hinder them due to differences. I had to use OC Immortals as a means of giving Nunnally and IS characters geass as it wouldn't make sense to have either CC or VV give Nunnally geass and both of them are too loyal to their partners to ever side with Nunnally,

How the predestined SAZ massacre would turn out would be up to the discretion of any author who wishes to adopt this story plot. I originally wanted to add in Alice and her unit from Nightmare of Nunnally manga, but I just didn't know where they would fit into the story idea. So anyone who adapts this story idea is free to decide whether or not to add Alice and figure for themselves how they would incorporate Alice into the story plot. Since the story concept is open-ended, like always feel free to adapt this story and make it your own adding in your touches to it. Just no author Self-Insert Mary Sue/Gary Stu OC protagonists please.
