Day 6 – Comfort/The Other Side - BOTH
Roxas is a being of darkness. He knows this. He has spent all short life in this dark realm which follows him even as he traverses worlds. A constant shadowy state that clouds his vision and makes all light blinding and painful. Something he wants to snuff out. Something to destroy.
Destruction, darkness, death even. He knew them well. He had lost his friends. His artificial light. His way. All he knew was darkness. Wandering is now his purpose. Destruction is now his goal.
It's funny—losing his friends wasn't even painful. It was numbing. He felt nothing now. Could not sense the pain the light gave off when he smothered it. Secretly (deep, deep, deep down) he hopes to feel something again someday.
Then someday happens.
A light, more pure and more beautiful than anything he had ever come across shocks him to his core.
A girl. A princess. Young, beautiful, enticing. She looks at him with eyes of understanding, not fear. Her smile, an extension of kindness he feels he does not deserve. Her hand, outstretched in an offer he wants to take.
And he does take it. It is a brief and overwhelming moment of sharp, tremendous light that blinds him to all darkness within his very being, instead showing him the potential light he could have, the true person he could be.
Instead of the princess's fear of him, it is he who is afraid. He releases her hand and disappears once more into the darkness. Dwelling outside of the light's shine, he realizes something. The moment when their hands touched, he felt no pain as expected. No burning.
No, what Roxas felt was comfort.
One more day to go!
