OPEN ON:

INT. TRAIN – NIGHT

Nicholette is sitting alone in an empty compartment. She pulls out her phone – over 20 missed calls. From her father. Her voicemail box is full.

NICHOLETTE: I'm in trouble …

The door to the compartment opens – DJ is standing there. She puts her phone away.

DJ: Can we talk?

NICHOLETTE: Look, I'm sorry I ruined your night –

DJ: You didn't ruin it. I went to Stab-A-Thon last year. And there's always next year.

He sits across from her.

DJ: Look … I know I haven't been overly … friendly … to you.

NICHOLETTE: That's an understatement.

DJ: For the longest time it was just me and parents. Then Mom goes off on business every other month, my Dad's out at work. Video games and movies were my only outlet. TV raised me. From Day One, my father was Captain James Tiberius Kirk and my Mother was Skarlett Johanson from Avengers.

NICHOLETTE: I'm sorry …

DJ: Do you know what it's like … to be given everything you want, but to seem so small, so insignificant that it's like you're screaming but not being heard …

Beat.

NICHOLETTE: No … I can't say that I have. My parents weren't perfect but they always listened, always made time for me … the truth is, I've let them down.

DJ: How so?

NICHOLETTE: They're heroes! They put an end to three psychopathic killing sprees! And my Dad expects me to get all good grades, yet my Mom expects me to be Miss Popularity and get invited to all the best parties and make friends with all the "cool" kids and have like twenty boyfriends … because that's what she did. They want me to be them and I'm not … I'm me. Shy, somewhat geeky me … they'd flip if they heard I joined a Cinema Club.

DJ: You haven't let them down … whenever your parents call mine, they're always gushing about you. They're proud of you, Nicky.

NICHOLETTE: And your parents love you. I know they're not the best with expressing their feelings, but I can tell, you know. Your Dad is out there right now, trying to figure everything out to keep you and me safe. He puts his life on the line daily and he does it for you.

DJ nods, staring out at the rain-splattered window. He notices that the train is continually picking up speed.

DJ: Should … should we be going this fast?

NICHOLETTE: I don't know … what is this, a roller coaster?

DJ: (Eyes narrowing) Let's find the others …

INT. TRAIN CAR – NIGHT

DJ and Nicholette walk through the train. They come to their original compartment they shared with the others – no sign of Marnie, Teddy or Lyle.

NICHOLETTE: They've been gone a long time …

DJ: Something ain't kosher here, and it's not the food. C'mon.

DJ grabs her hand, leading her into the next car – they stop short and Nicholette's hands go to her mouth.

NICHOLETTE: My God …

LYLE'S HEADLESS CORPSE IS POSITIONED IN A SITTING POSITION ON THE TRAIN! At the far end they see the door into the conductor's area – the window peering in is stained with BLOOD.

DJ: We're gotta move.

He turns, leading her in the other direction –

THEY RUN SMACK-DAB INTO MARNIE!

MARNIE: Guys, we gotta get the heck off this train!

NICHOLETTE: (pointing at Marnie) Look!

Marnie's hands are covered in BLOOD. Marnie's eyes widen.

MARNIE: No, no this is the conductor's blood! I found Lyle's body and I went to report it to the conductor! Please, you gotta believe me, the killer's here …

NICHOLETTE: Where's Teddy?

MARNIE: I don't know, I thought he was with you guys!

The train is accelerating even more. Sparks are beginning to fry up.

DJ: We gotta stop this train …

NICHOLETTE: How?

MARNIE: (pushing past them) I got this …

DJ: What the hell are you doing?

MARNIE: Someone's got to save our skins!

She reaches the end of the car and opens the conductor's room. The conductor's mutilated body flops onto the floor. Marnie winces, stepping over it into the conductor's room.

DJ: You don't what the hell you're doing!

MARNIE: I saw Unstoppable. Plus, I made working model trains for the science fair freshman year. It's not all that complicated.

She enters the cabin.

MARNIE: (cont'd) All we have to do is locate the break, ease up on it and –

She pulls a lever.

THE TRAIN PICKS UP SPEED!

DJ: Somehow I don't think that helped us very much!

Nicholette stares down at the conductor's corpse on the floor. Creeped out, she backs away … that's when she notices a slim white face reflected in one of the mirrors. She whirls around in terror –

NICHOLETTE: GUYS!

GHOSTFACE BURSTS UP, GRABBING HER, HOLDING HER AT KNIFEPOINT.

DJ: NICKY!

Ghostface pulls Nicholette through a door into the adjacent cabin.

DJ: (to Marnie) Figure this shit out!

He darts past the conductor's corpse, following in the killer's wake, desperate to save his cousin. Marnie, meanwhile, scratches her head as she observes the controls.

CUT TO:

INT. ADJACENT CABIN – NIGHT

DJ bursts into the adjacent cabin, having no idea what he's doing or even how he was going to stop the killer. All his mind is focused on is saving his cousin.

Ghostface stands in the middle of the boxcar, knife to Nicholette's throat.

GHOSTFACE: That's close enough.

DJ: (holding his hands out) Let's be cool … let's all be cool …

GHOSTFCACE: Tell me, DJ. Everyone at Woodsboro High is obsessed with your little cousin here. Everyone's concerned for the wellbeing of poor little Nicky. And what about Dwight Junior? Where's the concern for him? When I gutted Olivia like a fish, to whose side did Daddy Dewey come running – to yours?

DJ falters. Ghostface presses the knife deeper against Nicholette's throat. She's crying, screaming.

GHOSTFACE: You can walk away … I won't tell! One little flick of my wrist and she's no longer in the limelight. Daddy's affections are focused squarely on you. How's that sound?

DJ: When you put it like that … it's an awfully tempting offer.

GHOSTFACE: … Gooood ….

Nicholette's eyes widen – she can't believe what she's hearing.

DJ: But then you'd be out of luck.

GHOSTFACE: Oh? And why is that?

DJ: Then who would be your new Sidney Prescott? Who could you blame the murders on for this Stab 2.0? I mean, that's what you're doing right? A remake of Stab?

GHOSTFACE: Is that what you think this is? Oh, that is so Jill and Charlie …

DJ: Come again?

GHOSTFACE: I'm surprised you haven't figured it out yet … Jill and Charlie were planning a murder spree of their own … until I got in the way. They want fame, but for me I could care less about who gets credit for what! All I care about is upping the ante. (presses the blade harder) So that means your little cousin ain't shit to me …

TEDDY POPS UP BEHIND GHOSTFACE, SLAMMING HIM DOWN WITH A WOODEN ROD! Nicholette bursts free, into DJ's arms. Ghostface is rising –

DJ: Move!

Teddy, DJ and Nicholette race down the boxcar. Ghostface grunts in anger, raises his knife, and gives chase.

CUT TO:

EXT. TRAIN - NIGHT

The trio find themselves in the exterior area between box cars. They slam the last boxcar door shut, right in Ghostface's … face. The killer is banging into the door as they struggle to hold it shut as the train continues to pick up speed.

DJ: What's taking Marnie so long?

CUT TO:

Marnie is checking out a manual she finds under the seat.

MARNIE: Okay, so we push this button first …

BACK TO:

GHOSTFACE SMASHES THE GLASS WINDOW, AND SLASHES THROUGH IT WITH HIS KNIFE. IT SLICES UP DJ'S ARM.

Teddy pulls on DJ's shirt and points. A ladder. DJ motions for Nicholette.

DJ: Go!

Nicholette bites her lip – behind, DJ and Teddy are struggling to keep the door closed and the killer at bay. Nicholette grabs the ladder's railing – it's slick from the rain. She begins climbing.

DJ: Go!

Teddy turns, following in Nicholette's wake. She reaches the top, crouches down, offers her hand to Teddy. He takes it and she hoists him up. They struggle to balance on the racing train's top, the wind now blowing their hair and clothing.

Below, DJ makes a break for it. He turns, racing up the ladder, grabbing Nicholette's and Teddy's hands.

Ghostface bursts through the door. He grabs the railing and begins climbing up after them.

Nicholette struggles to balance herself.

NICHOLETTE: We're trapped.

Ghostface reaches the top. The mask appears over the edge of the train's top as the killer hoists himself up.

CUT BACK TO:

Marnie reaches out, grabbing a brake. She closes her eyes.

MARNIE: Please God, let this work.

She PULLS back on the train. It begins to lose speed. She breathes a sigh of relief.

Then her eyes widen.

A small brook with a bridge – the rainwater has completely washed the tracks away – they're gonna crash!

MARNIE: Crap, crap, crap, crap!

She pulls on the breaks with all her might.

BACK TO :

Ghostface waxes triumphant as Teddy and DJ raise their fists.

GHOSTFACE: Enough games … now who can I gut first?

SPARKS FLARE UP! They lurch –

THE TRAIN'S WHEELS GRIND ON THE TRACKS – THEY HIT THE CREEK WHERE THE RAILS HAVE BEEN WASHED AWAY – THE TRAIN GOES FLYING OFF THE TRACKS TOWARDS THE CORNFIELDS BELOW!

We see it in slow motion.

Marnie's eyes widen – she thinks quickly, opening a closet door in the compartment, stuffing her body in.

DJ also thinks quickly. He grabs Nicholette and motions for Teddy!

DJ: JUMP!

Without thinking, the three dive off the side of the train. They roll along a hill, down into a cornfield. They're covered in bruises and cuts. DJ hits his head and sees stars. He looks up –

THE TRAIN FLIES OFF THE TRACKS. Ghostface stands on top, the mask staring straight ahead …

THE TRAIN HITS THE GROUND YARDS AWAY – THE LOCOMOTIVE – MARNIE TRAPPED INSIDE – GOES ROLLING. THE REST OF THE TRAIN HITS THE GROUND, THE FUEL LINE LEAKING –

KABOOOMMMM!

THE REAR PART OF THE TRAIN IGNITES, EXPLODING UPWARDS INTO A GIANT FIREBALL. DJ leans his head back, breathing hard, Nicholette and Teddy breathing next to him.

Nicholette, bloodied and with scrapes and cuts looks over at Teddy.

NICHOLETTE: Let's … let's hope our next date … is a little less eventful …

DJ watches as the flames spread. Even amidst the heavy rainfall, the fires grow, spreading. He forces himself to his feet.

DJ: Can you stand? We have to go …

Nicholette helps Teddy to his feet. His leg is bent at an odd angle – broken.

NICHOLETTE: What about Marnie?

DJ: (staring ahead to where the locomotive rolled yards away) I don't know …

TEDDY: Could anyone survive that?

DJ stares ahead … the soundtrack rises. A figure emerges through the growing wall of flames. Nicholette grabs Teddy.

GHOSTFACE WALKS STRAIGHT THROUGH THE FLAMES, UNFAZED. HIS ROBE IS TATTERED AND TORN NOW, HIS MASK NOW CRACKED AND SCORCHED – BUT HE'S VERY MUCH ALIVE!

DJ: What the hell is he, Michael Fucking Myers!

Ghostface flicks his wrist – a blade slides into his glove.

TEDDY: Go! Go!

He motions for them!

NICHOLETTE: I'm not leaving you!

TEDDY: DJ – get her outta here!

DJ: Teddy …

NICHOLETTE: Teddy, please – come with us!

TEDDY: Go Nicholette! GO!

DJ grabs her arm – she fights him, arm held out for Teddy.

NICHOLETTE: TEDDY! COME WITH US!

Teddy smiles at Nicholette. He turns, face solemn, and he limps forward, fists raised. DJ leads Nicholette through the corn, she continuing to struggle.

We cut back to Teddy. Ghostface stares at him. Teddy limps forward, fist pulled back – Ghostface grabs his wrist, pinning it behind him. Teddy cries out as his bone breaks. Ghostface STRIKES down, stabbing him in the back. He RIPS down, slicing Teddy along his spine. The killer kicks him in the back and Teddy slides forward off his knife.

Teddy is facedown in the corn, the flames growing closer, smoke ascending. He turns onto his back. He spits up blood. Ghostface stares down at him … there's a moment's pause …

GHOSTFACE STRIKES! The knife enters his chest and Teddy's eyes go wide. The skies above him circle, and his eyes fade away …

With a grunt, Ghostface yanks his knife from Teddy's chest, rises to his feet and stares ahead in the direction that DJ and Nicholette ran.

CUT TO:

EXT. CORNFIELD – NIGHT

The front of the locomotive lies on its side, the flames beginning to spread towards it.

A DOOR BUSTS OPEN!

Marnie crawls out of the train, coughing, covering her face. She stands up, bruised and battered with a busted lip. She sees the flames coming. She turns into the cornfield, limping, trying to get as far away from the wreckage as possible.

INT. AIRPLANE – NIGHT

Billy JOLTS awake with a start. He's staring ahead. He looks at the clock – it's broken.

BILLY: How long was I out?

He stares ahead – the rain is splattering parallel with the windshield. He has no idea where they are.

BILLY: How much further till we hit California?

He's met with silence.

BILLY: Winston?

He looks over – WINSTON'S EYES ARE CLOSED, HIS MOUTH OPEN!

BILLY: WINSTON!

No response. Billy shakes him, then feels his neck for a pulse - - nothing. Winston – is DEAD. Likely a stroke.

Billy turns his head towards the window. The rain lets up – THEY'RE NOSEDIVING TOWARDS A LAKE!

BILLY'S ARMS RAISE TO HIS FACE AS THE PLANE IMPACTS THE LAKE!

Fade to black.
