OPEN ON:

EXT. MANOR HOUSE – NIGHT

Officers are stationed outside Lester's house. Gale sits with a blanket around her. Kincaid and Wallace had been questioning her. Gale is not having it.

GALE: Look, is this gonna take much longer?

KINCAID: What's the rush?

GALE: Uh … have you not been watching the news in Woodsboro?

KINCAID: And why would you want to get back there?

GALE: Maybe because my husband is sheriff and needs my help? And my son may be in mortal danger! How about that, a good enough reason for you or do I need to spell it out?

WALLACE: If your husband's the sheriff, what does he need you for?

GALE: He needs my help to solve this!

KINCAID: Really? The woman who claimed Cotton Weary was innocent is gonna solve a mystery?

GALE: When is everyone gonna let that go?!

KINCAID: In any event, I can't let you go. We need you to come down to the station, take a statement, answer a few questions.

GALE: The hell I am!

KINCAID: Or I can throw you in prison for defying a direct order from a cop, how about that?

Gale grits her teeth. Kincaid turns to an officer, who brings up a report. Wallace reads over his shoulder. Gale gets a shifty look in her eye.

Kincaid is reading over the report when they hear a car's ignition turn on. He turns around – Gale is in his car, taking off at top speed!

WALLACE: Well, she certainly has gumption.

KINCAID: That woman is damn out of her mind …

EXT. RURAL ROAD – NIGHT

DJ and Nicholette stumble out of the cornfield onto a rural roadway. DJ is tapping on his phone.

DJ: No service. Fuck!

Nicholette sits on the side of the road.

NICHOLETTE : I can't believe we just left him …

DJ: He gave his life for us –

NICHOLETTE: And you weren't willing to!

DJ: We can argue about it later … right now, we gotta warn everyone about Jill and Charlie.

NICHOLETTE: Jill and Charlie? I can't believe you're taking that murderer's word for it.

DJ: But it makes sense –

NICHOLETTE: I know Jill. She's not –

DJ: (interrupting) Capable? The problem is, I know Jill too.

DJ sits down on the road next to her.

DJ: There are some things about Jill you don't know –

NICHOLETTE: Kirby told me all about the car accident with Jenny. How her brother Steve is paralyzed …

DJ: Kirby told you that?

NICHOLETTE: Yeah, that's right.

DJ: Then she misinformed you.

NICHOLETTE: And how would you know?

DJ: Because I was there that night.

NICHOLETTE: What?

DJ: Jenny wasn't the one driving. Jill was. I was hanging out with them, we had gone to see Stab 6. Jill snuck me in with a fake ID.

NICHOLETTE: Well so what? Does it matter who was driving? I was an accident –

DJ: I don't think so … no, you gotta understand the timing. This was when Jill was still with Trevor – yet Trevor was sneaking around with Jenny behind her back. Jill knew … she hadn't confronted either of them yet, but she knew … she knew because blabbermouth Olivia couldn't wait to spill the tea.

NICHOLETTE: And what did Steve have to do with it?

DJ: Steve was the one who introduced Trevor and Jenny in the first place.

Nicholette stares ahead.

DJ: You didn't see the look on Jill's face when she saw Steve crossing the street. She was … a mad woman. Jenny saw it too, I think. For the briefest second, there was a look of sheer terror on Jenny's face – mind you she was screaming in terror when she saw Steve walking across the street … and I swear, Jill hit the accelerator. Jenny's too nice a person – seeing the good in everyone and everything, Miss Sunshine Daisy over there … but I saw the real Jill that night.

NICHOLETTE: Okay. Well, you're the horror buff – what's her next move?

DJ: If that guy on the train is to be believed, there's two pairs of killers running amok. Jill and Charlie. And the other two. Jill and Charlie were trying to recreate Stab. But that film ended at the Cotton Weary house … but the whole structure of their remake got thrown off by these new guys … it's anyone's guess from here …

NICHOLETTE: A party maybe?

DJ: Hmm?

NICHOLETTE: Stab-A-Thon. Would the killers make their next move there?

DJ: No … I think if they were going to make a move at Stab-A-Thon, then they've probably done so by now.

NICHOLETTE: Which means?

DJ: I think there's already been a murder there. No, these new guys want to up the ante … they're trying to draw a wider confrontation. Freddy Vs. Jason … Ghostface Vs. Ghostface. They're gonna try to draw Jill out somehow … and they're gonna make it very personal. (Beat, realizing) Shit – Trevor!

He stands up, pacing

DJ: He kills Trevor, sets Jill off … so that when he finally does lure her to them, she'll have all the motivation in the world. We have to get back to Woodsboro!

DJ steps into the street, thumb jerked out. A car passes – A BUNCH OF TEENS OPEN THEIR WINDOWS AND FLIP HIM OFF!

DJ: Oh, nice, real mature! People in need and you flip them the bird! I HOPE THAT WHATEVER BLOOD GETS SHED TONIGHT IS ON YOUR HEADS!

The headlights vanish.

Nicholette steps forward, joining DJ in trying to hitch a ride. A pickup truck appears, pulls off to the side.

DRIVER: Ya'll need a ride?

DJ: Woodsboro …

DRIVER: It's on the way. Get in back.

NICHOLETTE: Here's hoping he's not a psycho killer too.

MARNIE: (offscreen) Room for one more?

Marnie limps into view. DJ and Nicholette are shocked yet thrilled.

NICHOLETTE: You made it!

INT. MYSTERIOUS DARK CORRIDOR – NIGHT

Billy is walking down a dark corridor. At the end – he sees Tatum, in her hospital bed. He reaches her, but as he does, she turns to ash. He stops, falls to his knees, the last remnants of her ashes in his hands. He sobs.

FEMALE VOICE: (singsong) Billy …

Billy stands to his feet. He looks around. The corridors around him change. He sees a tunnel … a light flashes on – arms splayed, hair out in all directions like a mutant hydra – SIDNEY PRESCOTT.

SIDNEY: Billy … you didn't think you'd ever get away from me, now did you?

Billy backs up. He turns – SIDNEY IS AT THE OTHER END OF THE CORRIDOR. He looks behind him – SIDNEY IS THERE TOO.

SIDNEY: You can never escape me – no matter how hard you try. No matter how many doors you close.

Billy sees lines of doors opening. He runs to the nearest one, wrenching it open. He falls in –

… and he sits up. He's in a twisted fun house, clowns around him laughing. BRYSON MITCHELL appears, his eyes whited out.

BRYSON: You'll never escape her. What she invented … will live forever.

Billy turns – DESIRAE SINKS A KNIFE INTO HIS GUT.

DESIRAE: Do you know how long forever is, Billy-boy? Imagine a mountain made up of billions upon billions of tiny sand particles. A little baby bird comes once every ten thousand years and scoops up the teensiest, tiniest little grain right from the top. Once that mountain has been reduced to nothing – that is only the beginning of forever!

Bryson comes up behind Billy, stabbing him in the back. He cries out – sees a rollercoaster materialize before him. His only hope. Bryson and Desirae let him go. He jumps into a rollercoaster car. He turns, seeing Bryson and Desirae laughing.

DESIRAE: Run, Baby-Billy. It makes no difference. We'll catch up to you sooner or later … there's no time or distance that can ever keep us separated!

The locks on the coaster take shape. It's ascending. Billy turns his head as he goes up the lift hill – JAMES is sitting next to him.

JAMES: You can ride life's waves all you want. No matter how high you go, we will always be your destiny. (His face changes to the Ghostface mask)

GHOSTFACE: I AM YOUR DESTINY!

Billy jumps out of the rollercoaster car. He falls, plummeting. He lands – on a conveyor belt. He's back at the old mill in Woodsboro. He dodges machinery and cutting devices along the belt. The belt reaches its end –

NED appears, striking Billy in the chest.

NED: What my daughter created … can never be ended.

The scenery changes … they're in a cemetery. Ned grabs Billy by the back of his head, forces him facedown to look at a gravestone. He reads it – NICHOLETTE LOOMIS!

BILLY: NO!

NED: There's no escaping it. Our family lines have been permanently intertwined. There's no untangling them.

Around Billy, joining them, are James, Bryson, Desirae and Cotton Weary.

NED: Your blood … is ours!

BILLY: I'll stop you … I'll find a way!

Sidney appears again and kneels down next to Billy. She looks him deep in the face.

SIDNEY: Oh Billy … you always say that, yet somehow we always resurface. What I created, so long ago … can't be uncreated. There will always be someone willing to don the mask, to carry on my legacy … carry out my unfinished work.

Sidney holds Billy's head in her hands. Ghostface now is walking towards them. Sidney forces Billy to look up at the masked killer.

SIDNEY: My creation will live on forever. Like Frankenstein's monster. What I made will terrorize the living for eternity. It may be a new person under the mask each time, a new motive … but always, always it will be my hand plunging the knife. Ghostface … is immortal … he will live … I will live – FOREVER!

Billy looks up – he sees Nicholette. He reaches out – SHE BURSTS INTO FLAMES! Billy screams!

SIDNEY: You can't save her. You can't help her. All you can do … is watch!

And flames dissolve the entire scene.

EXT. LAKE – CALIFORNIA – NIGHT

Billy takes a deep breath as he comes to. He's floating – on his back in the middle of the lake. He turns and sees the wreckage of Winston's plane. Winston is nowhere to be seen. But … one of the plane's emergency inflatable tubes had burst out in the crash. It was this upon which Billy was lying.

He stared up at the sky. The storm clouds were beginning to clear out.

BILLY: (staring up at the sky) You're wrong … I'm already free of you … and my daughter – you will never have her! Send your best – my friends and family will put them all down – just like we did all of you! All anyone will ever remember of you – will be how you died!

With a pained grunt, Billy flips onto his stomach on the raft and gently places his hand in the cool water, paddling towards the shore.
