HOSPITAL WING – NIGHT

Sidney bursts into the hospital room, followed by Billy, Tatum and Stu. Randy is lying in a bed. DOCTOR ORTH, Steve's father, is examining him.

DOCTOR ORTH: He'll be okay. The cut wasn't too deep and was crudely done. Just a few stitches.

RANDY: When can I go home?

DR. ORTH: We'll just keep you overnight for observation and you'll be good to go tomorrow. I'll give you guys some privacy.

As the doctor leaves, Sidney throws her arms around him.

SIDNEY: How'd you get away? I don't understand …

RANDY: I guess he got overconfident. That, or you know, I'm just a natural badass.

BILLY: The baddest.

STU: Wait a minute … nobody move … we're in a hospital!

BILLY: Yeah, no shit Stu.

STU: Bruh … they've got to have stashes of the medicinal shit …

BILLY: Not now, Stu!

Tatum joins Sidney in sitting on his bed.

TATUM: What were you doing there?

SIDNEY: And with Gale Weathers, of all people Randy?

RANDY: I'm trying to help you! Look, my final girl theory was right! There was an underground tunnel leading from the Murder House to the very building that housed Cotton Weary's apartment. And get this – before he was arrested, Cotton subleased his apartment to your dad, Sid?

The soundrack beats.

SIDNEY: My … my Dad?

RANDY: Wait. It gets better. Gale and I broke into Cotton's old apartment.

SIDNEY: You what?

RANDY: Aaand, turns out the new tenant has quite a little fixation on you, Sid. He had pictures of you … in his bedroom … like … wall to wall …

SIDNEY: What?!

TATUM: Okay, that's creepy.

SIDNEY: W-why would someone have photos of me all over their bedroom.

STU: Oh well that's easy, he probably likes to spank the monkey!

BILLY: Stu!

STU: Dude … he's probably doing it right now.

BILLY: You're not helping!

STU: … watching us this very second as he's doing it, the sick fuck …

SIDNEY: … You were right, Randy. He's coming after us. I … I need a minute …

She gets up and walks out of the room. Billy watches her. Tatum smiles at him.

TATUM: Go get 'er, tiger.

INT. HOSPITAL WING HALLWAY – NIGHT

Sidney is alone in the hallway. She holds a hand over her eyes. She slides down a wall, crying. That's when she hears it. A voice. Female. Saying her name. "Sidney."

She looks up through tearstained eyes.

Her mother is at the end of the hallway. Bloodstained dress. Hair extended out in all directions like a monstrous hydra.

SIDNEY: No.

The voice, louder this time. "Sidney."

It walks towards her, arms outstretched.

SIDNEY: You're not real.

Her mother is almost on her.

SIDNEY: You're not real! You're not real! YOU'RE NOT REAL!

BILLY: Sid!

She looks up. Her mother is gone. Billy is there. He helps her to her feet. She's crying.

SIDNEY: I don't understand …

BILLY: You don't have to.

He hugs her. She nuzzles into his shirt.

SIDNEY: I'm sorry.

BILLY: Me too.

SIDNEY: Why is this happening?

BILLY: I don't know …

INT. HOSPITAL WAITING ROOM – NIGHT

Sidney is walking with Billy through the waiting room. She sees Gale Weathers sitting there, tears in her eyes. She turns to Billy.

SIDNEY: Go on. I'll be along in a minute.

She sighs and sits across from Gale.

SIDNEY: I'm sorry about your cameraman.

GALE: Thank you … he was a fat asshole, but he was my fat asshole.

Sidney bites her lip.

SIDNEY: Cotton wants to sit down with me.

GALE: Face-to-face.

SIDNEY: Tell him I'm in. As soon as possible. I want to hear what he has to say.

GALE: (surprised) Why the change?

Sidney turns in the direction of Randy's room. She can see Tatum and Stu still standing over him.

SIDNEY: Because now it's personal.

EXT. PENITENTARY – MORNING

Gale walks through the security checkpoints of the penitentiary, flashing her credentials.

INT. MEETING ROOM – MORNING

Gale is sitting in one of the penitentiary's meeting rooms. Two guards usher a shackled COTTON WEARY into the room and sit him down across from Gale.

COTTON: Did you bring me my coffee?

Gale rolls her eyes and slams a paper cup on the table. Cotton sips it with his shackled hands.

GALE: Sidney's willing to sit down. Mano-e-mano.

COTTON: Why the change?

GALE: Don't be obtuse, Cotton. We need to settle some things.

COTTON: Such as …

GALE: You had a secret tunnel leading from your apartment to the murder house. Not shocked that the investigators missed it. But you didn't even tell me about it.

COTTON: I … I didn't think it was important.

GALE: Cut the shit, Cotton. You better be straight with me and you better be straight right now! I put my entire reputation and career on the line defending you and if it comes out you really did do it -.

COTTON: Okay, okay …

GALE: And you subleased your apartment to Neil Prescott. Start talking.

COTTON: I had an affair with Maureen, that's true. Neil found out about it. He blackmailed me … the man is a freak. He … he wanted to watch me and Maureen get it on. He wanted to stay in my apartment on the nights she came, and wanted to come down through the tunnels and watch us in the farmhouse. Heck, he even filmed some of our trysts.

GALE: And you didn't tell investigators this because -?

COTTON: Because of Sidney. I couldn't let the girl find out that her father was a weirdo. She just lost her mother. She's been through enough.

GALE: Funny. A man that would risk breaking up a family suddenly grows a conscience about the daughter.

COTTON: I'll testify to it. Like I should have.

GALE: The masked killer. Do you think it's the same person that killed Maureen?

COTTON: I do.

GALE: Neil, then. It has to be Neil.

COTTON: I don't think so. No. Look, I haven't been completely open with you Gale, I admit it. But I'm willing to set the record straight once and for all. I don't think Neil is the killer, but I do think I know who it is.

GALE: Who?

COTTON: No. Not yet. I'll talk – but only Sidney. She has the right to hear it … from me. Set up the meeting, Gale.

Gale stands up. She stares down at Cotton, before grabbing his coffee cup and dumping the contents on the floor.

GALE: You better not be jerking me around, Cotton!

She storms off.

TV MONTAGE

Various news reporters play across the nation.

WOLF BLITZER: In an unprecedented move, the Governor of California is allowing Cotton Weary to be transported to a low-security facility today for an exclusive one-on-one interview with Sidney Prescott. The Prescott girl, if you recall, gave sworn testimony at the trial that saw the life-conviction of Cotton Weary for the murder of her mother, Maureen Prescott.

SEAN HANNITY: But we really have to question the act of the governor. I mean, is letting a convicted felon – with a string of new murders going on – go to a low-security prison really the right move right now?

Twitter and Facebook light up with pundits and commentators, excited to see where this interview goes.

One name trends above all others: SIDNEY PRESCOTT.

INT. WOODSBORO HIGH – CAFETERIA

Sidney sits at a table, hands in her head, rubbing her eyes in frustration, her Twitter feed blowing up on her phone.

TATUM: Welp … you're trending again for all the wrong reasons, Sid.

Casey Becker, who is sitting one table over, slides next to them. Her makeup is smeared. She'd been crying.

CASEY: Hey, look … I'm not good at this sort of thing … but I'm sorry about Randy. I lost Jenna and Megan and well … it kinda makes me realize I've sorta been a … mega bitch.

SIDNEY: Hey … look … I gave Tatum a clean slate. I'm giving out free slate freebies and well … if you want to start over.

Casey wipes her eyes.

CASEY: Thanks. And while we're talking clean slates … there's something I have to put a stop to.

She gets up, straightens herself out and walks out the cafeteria doors. The school's bell rings.

TATUM: Welp, the end of one school day, the beginning of a fabulous weekend. You gonna be okay tonight?

SIDNEY: It's fine … Dewey's taking me to the interview. It's happening at the precinct.

TATUM: Any word on your Dad?

SIDNEY: None. I'm getting really freaked out – what if the killer got him?

TATUM: I'm sure he's fine. Just take a deep breath. We're gonna get through this. Besides, we got Randy on the case.
