PROLOGUE
The world was full of mysteries. Whenever people had difficulty believing something as true, facts were dismissed as rumours, hoaxes, myths, legends and eventually forgotten. Aliens, monsters, gods and demons were often seen as just existing in fiction and humanity continued to live a blissful existence, unaware of the dangers lurking amongst them.
There were those whose eyes were opened to the evil. Over time, they banded together and formed a secret society of Guardians, protecting mankind from the shadows. Legendary warriors, knights, wizards, ninjas and samurai, who were thought to have dwindled over the ages saved the world on a regular basis, secretly eliminating dark mystics, hunting down monsters and exorcising demons. They created bases all over the planet, which doubled as training academies for future guardians.
The elemental ninjas boasted mastery over the elements and built it's academies in America, close to sealed pocket dimensions holding back great evil. The Thunder Ninja Academy was in Mariner Bay, near the Shadowlands. The Wind Ninja Academy watched over the Abyss of Evil in Blue Bay Harbor and the Fire Ninja Academy resided in the woods between Summer Cove and Briarwood, near the entry points to the United Realms and the Underworld.
The Shaolin monks followed two disciplines. The Shaolin Academy was hidden in mainland China and focused on teaching their students to harness the elements of fire, metal, wood, earth and air through kung fu. The Spirit Academy was run by the Pai Zhua, also known as the Order of Claw, and trained their 'cubs' to master their animal spirits.
The Cosmic Academy of Himalayas was under the jurisdiction of ancient warriors, teaching their students how to master all elements but specialising in light, darkness, gravity, energy, space and time manipulation. Arguably they were the most powerful of the guardians and refrained from interfering in affairs of the mundane world unless absolutely required.
The Samurai Academy was in Tokyo, teaching those of magical bloodlines to channel the elements through rune magic and symbol power, aside from mastering weapons of all kinds and exorcising demons.
The Knights and Mystics operated from the United Realms, a network of magical dimensions existing parallel to our own. The Knight Academy was in the kingdom of Zandar.
While other guardians only used magic superficially, the mystics, sorcerers and wizards channelled raw magic through spells and enchantments. A network of wizarding schools had popped up across the globe, most of them limited to wand magic. Sorcerers didn't need wands for casting magic though they sometimes used staffs. They channelled magical energies from other dimensions and protected the planet from extradimensional threats. Three guardian academies for sorcerers were established in Hong Kong, London and New York, each of them serving as 'Sanctums' for the society of sorcerers calling themselves the Masters of Mystic Arts.
The Mystics used the primal form of magic. Some believed the mystic arts to be a result of fusion of sorcery and witchcraft while others speculated that the mystics were the original wielders of magic. While the mystics could channel magic windlessly, they were often seen wielding both staffs and wands. Moreover, they could directly connect to the morphin grid and ascend into a celestial deity form called 'Heavenly Saints' or 'Ancient Mystic Mode'. The Mystics have their own brand of knights called the Mystic Knights. The most notable Mystic Knight Academies were in the dimensions of Tir Na Nog and Avalon while Rootcore and the Enchanted Forest served as the training grounds for young mystics.
Together the Guardian Academies formed the last line of defence against all paranormal threats, persevering for centuries till one of their own, a earth ninja by the name of Lothor betrayed them and sought to conquer the planet with help of alien armies. Caught unaware, the ninja academies were the first to fall and the guardians were captured one by one. Having foreseen such an event, the ancient warrior Ninjor had gifted power morphers to each academy and now the survivors of Lothor's invasion must step up to save the world as the Power Rangers.
