CHAPTER 7 - Interrogation

How do you tell someone you are from the future without sounding like a crazy person. Kagome knew she could not lie to the Lord of the West, he would know right away and she was a terrible liar anyway. His gaze was insisting and bore a threating look. The more she waited the more he grew impatient.

"I come from the future…" she said, waiting the Sesshomaru reaction.

"The future? How far in the future?" his surprise was showing on his face. He knew she was not lying and many questions flooded his mind. Many questions she would have to answer.

"Roughly 500 years give or take… well now you know, I will be on my way and go search for my friends." Kagome said walking backward, hoping she could escape this uncomfortable situation and run back to her friends.

"You will do no such thing, this Sesshomaru has many more questions, and you will answer them." he grabbed her arm pulling her closer to him. Summoning his yoki below his feet, a cloud formed below them. Within seconds they both were high in the sky.

"Let me go," she yelled, "I said let me go."

She tried to yank her arm free in vain, he was much stronger than her. She thought of using her miko powers on his hand to be released but she noticed that they were no longer on the ground and did not want to fall to her death. She would have to wait until they reached their destination before she could escape his grasp. His fur boa crawled around her waist and pushed her even closer to his body, pressing her firmly against Sesshomaru's body. Her face buried in his chest; she could not help but smell him. He had a pleasant smell of pin trees. Uncomfortable with her proximity with the daiyokai she struggled to get free making it worst. His arm was now around her should, pressing her face even harder against him. All she could do at this point was voicing her protest.

"Try to move again and I'll let you fall." He threatened, letting out a loud growl to subdue her.

They soon arrived at the edge of a forest. The trees were dense and full of leaves. The forest stopped sharply as a deep canyon started. Kagome could not see the bottom of it but could hear that a river ran down in its belly. Reaching the ground, Sesshomaru's boa let go of her waist and went back on Sesshomaru's shoulder. He grabbed her by the neck at pushed her closer to the edge of the ground, almost dangly her in the air.

His hand was holding her strongly and his claws where pressed hard on the miko's delicate skin. His eyes were cold, not cruel but uncaring. She was reminded of who was standing in front of her. In the past few days, he acted so… kindly she almost forgot that Sesshomaru was not fond of her. Her association with his half-brother made him see her as the enemy and during his quarrel with the hanyo she made clear who's side she was on.

"Explain yourself. How did you come here if you are from the future?"

"There is a well… in the forest where Inu Yasha was shot by Kikyo… it's a portal." she gasped for air. His hold on her throat not leaving much room for breathing.

"Who knows about it? Who can use the portal?" he stared at her with icy eyes, making her shiver with fear.

"Just my friends… and Kaede-obasan… they can't go through, only me and Inu Yasha can travel back and forth." Kagome was now crying hot tears, unable to break Sesshomaru's grasp.

Sesshomaru's attention diveredt to the edge of forest behind him. Rin can out of the thick bushes, calling happily for her protector. Jaken was following the little girl, pestering her about leaving him alone to care of the two headed dragon. Running at his side Rin looked at Sesshomaru, asking why he was attacking the young miko.

"Sesshomaru-sama?" she aked with her timid voice. "Did Lady Kagome do something wrong? Lady Kagome is always nice to Rin. Rin does not want Lady Kagome to be hurt."

Sesshomaru reluctantly let Kagome back on firm ground, not wanting this ward to cry and make a fuss about it. He knew he was going soft because of the little girl presence, but he did not care to show some emotion to the child. She was after all part of his pack and should be cared for. Kagome reached the ground safely. Massaging her throat she was grateful to the little girl for saving her and keeping the daiyokai's temper in check.

"Will Lady Kagome stay with us?" the brown eyed girl looked so hopeful. It had been some times since she talked to someone else than the toad yokai and she desperately want a female companion.

"She will," said Sesshomaru without hesitation. "This Sesshomaru still has questions that need answers. Rin go get some wood for the fire we will stay here for the night."

Seeing that her miko friend was safe on the ground, Rin went back in the forest looking for branches, leaving the two adults argument with each other.

"I want to go find my friends, I am thankful for your help but I don't have time for this." Kagome protested. "Please Sesshomaru-sama."

"This Sesshomaru decided that you will stay until all his questions are answered, not before. This is not up for discussion." He proceeded to grab her neck again; leaning close to her, he whispered in her ears. "If you try to run away, I will kill you with my hands."

Letting go of her, Sesshomaru turn towards the forest and disappeared. Left alone, Kagome started to cry. Hugging herself she sat down, looking out the horizon, wanting to be alone. She stayed there until Rin came back from her expedition in the woods. The little girl said nothing and sat next to the young woman, placing a comforting hand of her shoulder. The two friends stayed there for a long moment, watching the sunset.
